BMW has just unveiled the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This concept vehicle serves as the precursor model for the upcoming new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, providing a glimpse of how these models could look like.
Nonetheless, concept models are usually more aggressive and more dramatic in terms of design compared to the production model. Thus, when BMW M8 Gran Coupe becomes a reality, it is expected to be a subtle version of the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe. To help us imagine how the BMW M8 Gran Coupe might actually look like when it comes to life, X-Tomi Design has created a rendering of the production model.
X-Tomi Design made sure that the rendered BMW M8 Gran Coupe doesn’t stray away too much from the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe in terms of exterior looks. The rendered M8 Gran Coupe by X-Tomi Design features a front end defined by a slightly taller grille.Read the entire article X-Tomi imagines production version of BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe
German premium carmaker BMW is officially previewing in metal the precursor model for the most exotic variant of its new flagship model. Providing a glimpse of the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is being unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Essentially, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe serves as a follow up for the BMW 8 Series Coupe Concept. Unveiled in 2017, the 8 Series Coupe Concept offers a glimpse into the possible design of the much-awaited 8 Series grand tourer that will be launched into the market this year as part of BMW’s massive product offensive. Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, remarked that the Concept M8 Gran Coupe serves as a window to what he described as the most exotic and alluring variant of the new 8 Series flagship. It defines luxury in a whole new meaning – it is polarizing and ultra-sporty.
Just like the BMW Concept 8 Series, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is influenced by BMW’s new design language, as evident on its expressive surfaces, which graphic arrangement is underscored by precise character lines. The front end sports a muscular, precisely contoured bonnet as well as radiator grille kidneys which contours broaden as they drop towards the road to emphasize the low center of gravity of the Concept M8 Gran Coupe.Read the entire article BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe unveiled at 2018 Geneva Motor Show
It seems to us that we are getting ever closer to the day that BMW pulls off the cover of the new 8 Series. We have seen enough spy shots and leaked photos of the model, and the only thing that has not been done really is for them to reveal the German automaker’s big coupe.
BMW has recently shared another teaser video of the said model in action on Twitter, as well as some images on Facebook albeit still in camouflage. So far, the automaker would only say that it remains on track for the 2018 release.
The photo that has been posted on Facebook has a caption, indicating that this model offers us a glimpse into the future. Though it is just a silhouette, it gives us an impression of the car’s shapely rear, sculpted roof, and illuminated headlights - that match what we saw earlier in a leaked photograph. The video, on the other hand, lets us hear the 8 Series’ roar, sounding like it has been equipped with a V8 engine.Read the entire article BMW leaks 8 Series silhouette amid rumours of new M8 GTE’s debut at Daytona
The 2018 BMW M8 GTE is probably the automaker’s top of the range model for the international GT racing scene. That’s why there’s no better venue to launch it than at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).
We know that the 8 Series Coupe will go on sale after completing the track next season. It will first head to the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) following its appearance at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA).
The BMW M8 GTE that is currently on display at Frankfurt is an indication of innovative and cutting-edge technology. It came with a BMW M Sport livery, which was specially designed for this occasion. This also gives us a preview of what’s to come in 2018.Read the entire article 2018 BMW M8 GTE is the perfect mix of technology and tradition, set to make Le Mans comeback
BMW enthusiasts are quite excited for the revival of the new 8 Series. In fact, we have already seen the concept of the upcoming coupe a few months back at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. After seeing the concept, we have got artists rendering the proposed production version of it, based on what they've seen on the latest spy shots. As usual, BMW already previewed the M8 through a series of camouflaged photos, building hype for its release next year.
The rendering of the M8 production car was done by Cars.co.za. Overall, the virtual M8 looks both subtle and aggressive. To keep it close to its ancestors, the M8 has a pair of kidney grille up front, together with an aggressive diffuser and three vents to complete the front fascia. Unlike the concept where the M8 gets a set of sleek headlights, the rendered version instead gets fixtures that will remind you more of the production version.
For the side profile, the car features large vents that spans from behind the front wheel, stretching all the way to the rear. The rear end, on the other hand, gets design cues from the M2 and the M6, especially when looking at the tail lights. It has been given quad exhaust tips by the artist and new lip spoiler that’s not very prominent. As seen in the photo, the rendered M8 is finished in a bold shade of Melbourne Red Metallic that are complemented with a set of black wheels.Read the entire article BMW M8 rendering looks ready for production
BMW just keeps on getting bigger and bigger, in terms of their lineup I mean. Just after unveiling the 8 Series Concept, they are now teasing us with an M8 variant. As of now, the closest we have to the M8 variant are just camouflaged photos and a video since BMW won’t give out any information just yet.
The camouflaged variant looks similar to the 8 series in terms of design, but it comes with the signature trimming we have expected on the M’s go-fast models. Though we know that this isn’t at all close to the final production version, note that it has enlarged air intakes in the fascia, enlarged wheels with low profile tires, brake calipers finished in blue, and at the rear end are quad exhausts.
BMW M Division president, Frank van Meel, said that the upcoming BMW M8 will build on the genes of the 8 Series and feature enhanced track ability and “generous extra portions of dynamic sharpness, precision and agility”. He added that it flows into a driving experience that has the highly recognizable BMW M hallmarks” and that meets the most challenging demands of its customers.Read the entire article BMW confirms that an M8 and M8 GTE are on their way
BMW’s M-division revealed the origins of the V12 engine from the McLaren F1. The carmaker said that initially, it was developed to fit into an M8 version of the 8-series in 1990; however, it had never entered production. Back then, the V12 was based on two 6cyl engines from the M3 during that period. Tests of the 8-series showed that it was reliable.
But BMW management never permitted this car to materialize even when development had been completed for the M8 and its V12 engine and test vehicles had shown that it was production-ready.
The management didn’t budge even when the M-division insisted. M staff said that the engine delivers about 550bhp in the M8 and offers a “stunning” performance. The V12 engine went on to form the basis for the McLaren F1 road car and Le Mans champion.Read the entire article BMW’s M-division reveals details on obstacles faced by M8
