BMW X3 M’s 475 hp Competition Package will arrive in early 2019

We are certain that the BMW X3 M is coming, because spy shots of the said model have already been published online. But according to the Bavarians, they have something that we might have more interest in than this, and that is a hotter version of the said model. According to Spanish website, BMW will give the BMW X3 M SUV a Competition Package that will boost the regular model’s output, while also sharpening its handling.

The standard version of the upcoming X3 M is actually pretty impressive already. With a 3.0 line inline six that has an output of 450 horsepower (335 kilowatts). But of course, with the Competition Package, it will become much beefier. Additional tuning will push its performance to 475 horsepower (354 kilowatts). There will also be a performance tuned all wheel drive system that will be similar to the setup in the latest M5.

Will all that power, the automaker should of course make sure that the X3 M with the Competition Package will stand out physically too. This is why the X3 M’s body will be given extra details to make it look more aggressive - from larger intakes up front, a roof spoiler, and the M division’s familiar quad exhausts in the back. It will also be equipped with larger brakes, which indeed are necessary to slow down the super fast SUV. Handling has also been made better, thanks to the engineers who tweaked the car’s suspension for easier cornering. Inside, you will then find performance oriented upgrades like the gearshift and the M1/M2 buttons.

BMW X2, X3 receive two-wheel drive models in the United States

BMW has great news as they have recently launched a 2018 X2 sDrive28i in the United States. And if you do not know what that means, it basically is a two wheel drive version of the current X2, which means that it is also much more affordable, with a starting price of $36,400 (excluding destination and handling of $995).

The 2018 version makes it $2,000 less than the X2 xDrive28i, the hatchback like crossover comes standard with LED lighting units, a power tailgate, as well as 18 inch alloy wheels. When looking at the base model, it does not exactly look very luxurious, though in the cabin, it gets a leather wrapped steering wheel and a 10 way power front sport seats with SensaTec upholstery. It also features an automatic climate control system, a high gloss black trim with pearl gloss chrome accents, and a seven speaker audio system.

Under the hood, you will find a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that offers 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts) and 258 pound feet (349 Newton metres) of torque. This engine works with an eight speed automatic transmission that lets the crossover accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 6.6 seconds before continuing to a top speed of 144 miles per hour (231 kilometers per hour). Having said that, it’s easy to figure out that the front wheel drive version will be slightly slower than the all wheel drive variant, but the good thing is that it is also more fuel efficient.

2018 Alpina XD3 is a BMW X3 with 4 turbos, set to launch at Geneva Motor Show

A lot of people, especially in Europe, love the diesel engine despite the fact that it is one of the dirtiest things you could also talk about these days. While automakers like BMW are shifting to hybrid and electric vehicles for their upcoming models like the next generation X3, there are some models that still remain to build diesel engine vehicles. For instance, Alpina had just given the diesel powered SUV engine a boost. That is something BMW will definitely not do.

Having said that, this is exactly what the Bavarian tuner did: they tweaked the BMW 3.0 liter straight six engine with two turbochargers and common rail high pressure direct injection of the regular X3 diesel. Overall, this gives an output of 333 horsepower (245 kilowatts) and a torque of 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres).

If these numbers do not sound impressive to you, Alpina wants to boast that in only 4.9 seconds, the XD3 can accelerate to 62 miles per hour from standstill (0-100 kilometers per hour). It achieves a top speed of 158 miles per hour (254 kilometers per hour). In other words, this could be the fastest, diesel powered SUV in the market today.

BMW unleashes the new X3 (G01) with a matching mountain e-bike

The world never runs out of adventure, which is why BMW Lifestyle has teamed up with “Specialized” to develop the special edition E-mountain bike. Branded as Specialized Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie, the exclusively designed mountain bike has been given the new Phytonic Blue paint job to match the official color of the 3rd generation BMW X3 (G01).

To further complement the new SUV, the trail bike is equipped with a water bottle with the tagline “Specialized For BMW”. The price? Let’s just say the regular Specialized Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie costs $4,500 (or about 3,900 in euros in Germany). Now for those who want the special edition BMW version of the mountain bike, they can have it for the price of $5,900 (5,200 euros).

What makes it more interesting to have is that the e-bike features a 504Wh battery pack with a dock that lets you recharge its battery off the bike. Similarly, BMW developed a special charging cable that can be hooked to the SUV’s 12V power socket without compromising its own supply.

All-new BMW X3 (G01) just made its debut! The updated model has a familiar design, and slightly increased dimensions compared to its successful predecessors.

For more cabin space, the wheelbase has been extended by an additional 2.2 inches (5.5 cm). The length and the width of the new X3 are also slightly longer, thanks to the optimized package.

The S in Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is emphasized by its more dynamic design such as the sharper adaptive LED headlights and a more muscular hood. Here, we also witness BMW's new 3D front grille. The rear fascia, on the other hand, gets a pair of exhaust tips and a nice set of taillights.

BMW Blog recently announced on its site that the new X3 will hopefully be unveiled this year in June, and the next-gen automobiles will be rolling out to the public shortly afterwards. The high-performing 2018 BMW X3 (G01) M40i variant will also be available at U.S. dealerships around October this year.

Cruising on the ever dynamic CLAR (Cluster Architecture) platform, the third-gen of the highly popular X3 Sports Activity Vehicle, X3 codenamed "G01" is made bigger, lighter and more solid compared to the recent model. The interior and trunk space are also upgraded with increased capacity and area and 220 lbs (100 kilograms) lesser curb density compared to the current X3. A redesigned seating system is also offered to assure higher variability paired with increased comfort. Although the interior and exterior design will involve a metamorphic approach, under the hood is where the magic happens.

A wide array of diesel and gasoline choices will be made accessible but it depends on the market, not to mention the M40i and M40d options. The gas-fueled automobile will be sold in the United States around the latter part of the year, particularly around October. But so far, BMW hasn’t released pricing details. The BMW X3 M40i will be powered with a tweaked version of BMW's 3.0 liter turbocharged variant.

There is no longer any need for stolen shots from spy photographers on the Internet. BMW has released the official teaser photos of the new 2018 BMW X3 (G01). The disguised prototype on the film is none other than BMW’s 3rd generation luxury SUV, which was recorded while being tested in Sweden. If you didn’t know, it’s freezing cold out there.

Temperatures as low as -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees Celsius) are not unusual in the town of Arjeplog, which is only 35 miles away from the Polar Circle. This will enable BMW to test the X3 under extreme conditions --- as it has the most suitable environment to push the X3’s DTC (dynamic traction control) and DSC (dynamic stability control) systems to the limits.

Also according to BMW, Arjeplog’s rural roads and frozen lakes are ideal testing grounds for the crossover’s xDrive All-Wheel Drive module. As a whole, the snow-clad surfaces serve as a perfect venue to thoroughly check how well the suspensions and steering work when driving the new SUV. In short, it is important that the vehicle performs normally given the cold temperatures.

General Motors Co. is considering a small sport-utility automobile to rival the X3 of BMW, Cadillac's vice president of sales Kurt McNeil disclosed during the Detroit Auto Show. GM is attempting to increase sales for Cadillac with smaller vehicle models compared to those of BMW, which outperformed Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus in the U.S. luxury sales race in 2011.

GM is already targeting BMW with a small vehicle. Last Sunday, GM introduced the Cadillac ATS sedan to rival BMW's 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. A small premium SUV could build on Cadillac's gains from the larger SRX SUV, which boosted U.S. sales 11 percent in 2011.

BMW's refurbished X3 aided the automaker to displace Lexus, which had held the top position among U.S. luxury automobile brands for 11 years. GM has not decided yet on a small Cadillac SUV, McNeil stated, adding that the fact that the Cadillac is becoming "more of a global brand" will have weight in the decision. The sale of the new ATS sedan of Cadillac is set to begin in the third quarter.

BMW posted a 44 percent increase in third-quarter earnings, thanks to the improved demand for the 5-series sedan and the X3 sport-utility vehicle. Its earnings before interest and taxes increased from 1.19 billion euros last year to 1.72 billion euros or $2.35 billion, the company disclosed on Thursday. Profit exceeds the 1.58 billion-euro average estimate of 18 analysts that Bloomberg has surveyed.

Revenue rose 3.8 percent to 16.5 billion euros. For high-end automakers, growth has been sluggish from the record pace in the first half while the debt crisis in Europe unsettles consumers.

The parent of Mercedes-Benz, Daimler AG, recorded its first decline in earnings since the third quarter of 2009, as the company was adversely affected by expenses for new models. BMW has not changed its current estimate for sales and profit in 2011, which was said to be "significantly higher" than last year's.

The BMW brand posted an increase in U.S. luxury automotive sales during the month of September, with deliveries climbing 19 percent on continued high demand for the X3 SUV, which arrived in U.S. showrooms in January. This puts BMW AG on the lead in the U.S. luxury automotive sales race. Specifically, sales of the revamped X3 increased to 1,853 in last month from 146 units in the same month last year.

This increase contributed to the SUV's almost four-fold rise to 19,167 so far this year. Industry analyst Jesse Toprak at, a website that tracks auto sales, commented that the model was "well received," and that it was one of the "better executed redesigns" seen in the luxury segment in a long while.

BMW enhanced the handling and interior of the X3. It has done well by offering monthly lease deals for as low as $459 in September, Toprak said. Moreover, BMW brand deliveries increased to 21,750 in September as the U.S. sales of Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz rose 9 percent to 21,649. Meanwhile, Toyota Motor Corp.'s Lexus experienced a drop of 12 percent in sales to 14,995 last month.

The X3 was given an aerodynamic kit that included a stunning front spoiler, the rear roof spoiler and a protective film for the rear skirt. The X3 could be fitted with either Type VIII forged racing rims in 22-inch or Type VII racing rims in BiColor or silver in 22-inch.
