General Motors Co. will be recalling over 38,000 sedans equipped with its "eAssist" mild hybrid system to fix circuit boards that may overheat. Such an incident may lead to a loss of battery charge or a fire in the trunk in extreme cases. According to the carmaker, it was aware of the two trunk fires related to the issue but remarked that there were no injuries or crashes as a result of the problem.
Affected sedans include the Chevrolet Malibu Eco, Buick LaCrosse and Regal from the 2012 and 2013 model years. The affected sedans were assembled in the United States before December 2012. Overheating of the circuit boards in the generator control module in some of the sedans may result to several issues like loss of battery charge and the illumination of a malfunction indicator light.
The issue, however, does not involve the eAssist battery. The engine may stall if the warnings are ignored. The issue may result to a burning or melting odor. GM said in a statement that it knows of the generator control board incidents, most of which have occurred within first 1,000 miles of operation.Read the entire article GM will recall 38,000 sedans due to problems with circuit boards
Interested to get Buick’s latest rendition of the Avenir? It isn’t really a range-topping trim as it’s actually treated as a sub-brand. Before it came out as the LaCrosse sedan, this model first appeared as a four-door concept, and was initially introduced as the Enclave SUV. As you know, the Enclave Avenir has a starting price of $53,500, and the LaCrosse will be priced a little cheaper when it finally goes on sale in a few weeks.
Let us get into more detail regarding the prices of the LaCrosse trims. Firstly, the luxurious 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir can be had for a reasonable price of $45,795. This makes it $3,700 more expensive than the standard LaCrosse Premium, which has a price tag of $42,095 (inclusive of a destination cost of $925).
Under the hood of the LaCrosse Avenir is the same 3.6 liter engine that can be found in the Premium model. It carries out 310 horsepower (231 kilowatts) and 268 pound-feet (363 Newton-metres) of torque, paired to a nine speed automatic transmission. But since it is priced a little more, expect it to come with some extra features too.Read the entire article 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir has starting price of $45,795
There will be, indeed, a new member for Buick’s luxury sub-brand Avenir in 2018. Buick has officially introduced the inclusion of the new 2018 Buick LaCrosse Avenir premium flagship sedan, which it describes as its highest expression of luxury.
Making the LaCrosse sedan part of the Avenir sub-brand was an easy decision for Buick. Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC, noted that nine of 10 LaCrosse customers are picking one of the top two trim levels, which means that these clients are seeking more from Buick. Alfred quipped that by bearing the name Avenir, the new LaCrosse Avenir offers more content and more elegant appearance all in attainable luxury. The new 2018 LaCrosse Avenir will feature distinct styling cues, an extensive set of standard elements as well as exclusive premium materials.
Just like the recently introduced Enclave Avenir, the new LaCrosse Avenir comes with a number of design cues derived from and inspired by Buick concept cars. These design cues include the distinct three-dimensional mesh upper and lower grille with chrome wings, as well as the Avenir script badging on the front doors. As standard, the new LaCrosse Avenir rides on exclusive 19-inch Pearl Nickel. Twenty-inch Midnight Silver wheels are also available.Read the entire article Buick introduces 2018 LaCrosse Avenir premium flagship sedan
It looks like Buick’s luxury sub-brand Avenir is all poised to give birth to a new member in 2018. Buick will be adding the LaCrosse into its Avenir lineup next year, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Admission, as dug up by GM Inside News.
Presently, the Buick LaCrosse has become a victim of the crumbling full-size sedan market. In fact, with a 204-day supply of inventory, the Buick flagship sedan has shown its weakness – low sales. But things may change if Buick would create a premium luxury version of its flagship sedan and have it don the Avenir badge. Buick is hoping that once the LaCrosse in the luxury car market, the destiny of its low-selling full-size sedan might cross to the greener pasture.
Buick or GM hasn’t confirmed it, but the LaCrosse Avenir was definitely included in GM’s 2018 Vehicle Identification Number Decoder revised and submitted to the NHTSA in September. As indicated in these documents discovered by GM Inside News – in particular in the VIN’s fifth position – Buick is planning to offer two configurations of the LaCrosse Avenir – front-wheel and all-wheel drive. It is expected that the new Buick will be powered by exclusively with the current 3.6-liter V6 engine as mated to GM’s nine-speed automatic gearbox.Read the entire article Buick’s Avenir sub-brand to welcome LaCrosse full-size sedan into its luxury lineup
Buick’s new wagon, the 2018 Regal TourX will come with an MSRP of $29,995 including delivery charges as reported by CarsDirect earlier this week. Its base model or the 1SV trim is set to be the more affordable choice between other expensive brands like Audi’s A4 Allroad, the Volvo Cross Country wagon, Subaru Outback or even Volkswagen’s Golf Alltrack wagon model. Currently, the pricing for some of these wagons start at $45,475 for Audi and $37,145- $42,696 for the Volvo.
The new base model, including the entire Regal TourX range, will pack a standard 250hp and 265lb-ft of torque 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and all- wheel- drive layout. All versions will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission while the set of 18-inch wheels, active noise cancellation and push start button have also been included in the setup.
For the price of $33,575 (or an additional $3,850), Buick offers the Regal TourX Preferred 1SB with more color options aside from the standard silver, white and black body paints. Those come in addition to the door sill plates, power driver’s seat, leather wrapped steering wheel and auto-dimming rearview mirror that are all part of the package.Read the entire article 2018 Buick Regal TourX priced below $30,000
Buick's heavily altered 2017 Buick LaCrosse was a likeable vehicle when it was rolled out last year, however the declining passenger car market affected the overall appeal of the vehicle especially the full-sizer's standard feature and efficiency. Sales went downhill due to this reason. Now the American automaker is rebounding by revealing that the 2018 LaCrosse will have a tempting upgrade to offer in the form of eAssist mild hybrid system and new transmission in V6 powered models in hopes of attracting more customers into the showroom.
The newest 2018 Buick LaCrosse is geared with a 2.5 L 4-cylinder with an eAssist mild hybrid as the vehicle's standard powertrain. In an economical move, the price will be slashed from $32,990 to $30,490 for the existing sedan that is equipped with the 3.6 L V6 engine. The hybrid model will be available at showrooms this coming fall. The American car maker is still mum on the specific details regarding the hybrid LaCrosse's output.
But Buick commented that the powertrain is expected to upgrade the sedan's fuel economy in the city by about 19 percent which will allow it an estimated 25 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon in the highway. The hybrid sedan's 2.5 L 4-cylinder utilizes a motor generator unit that takes the place of a conventional alternator, and a 0.45 kW-hour lithium-ion battery stocks energy for the system.Read the entire article 2018 Buick LaCrosse is available with mild hybrid powertrain as standard
Say goodbye to Buick Regal Sedan, and say hello to Buick's newest offers. In 2018, the upscale automobile company is having an overall haul by offering a midsize Regal SportBack with coupe-ish styling and the Regal TourX, which is a crossover but we can also safely call it a wagon.
It has been a running fact that the American consumers’ love for sedans is sadly declining. But it's far from extinction as more than 3 million midsize vehicles have been sent off by dealers in 2016. And since the trend is crystal clear, General Motors decided to act on this pattern. The Buick Regal sales of 20,000 for the last 2 years seems to be more impressive than most, but just barely.
Buick is known for its conservatism, but with the 2018 Regal, General Motor's luxury stamp is taking things to a whole new level. With no competitive sedan in sight, consumers can choose between the newcomers, the 2018 Regal Sportback and TourX. Rather than a 4-door sedan shaped vehicle, the Regal Sportback will sport a liftback design akin to the Audi A7.Read the entire article 2018 Buick Regal reinvented, will be available as Sportback and TourX
General Motors is getting ready to unveil its new Buick Regal sedan at the Shanghai Auto Show 2017 in April. But before GM had the chance to do so, leaked images of the new sedan have surfaced.
Actually, we already have a good idea of how would the China-bound 2018 Buick Regal would look like as early as December 2016. At the time, General Motors introduced the Opel Insignia Grand Sport, which will have its official debut this March at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This new large family car marks the second generation of the Insignia after nearly a decade. The Insignia Grand Sport features a new design made distinct by elegant lines as well as best-in-class aerodynamics. It is also underpinned by a new platform and loaded with new systems and technologies. Of course, it was openly known that the second-gen Insignia would be the basis for the new Holden Commodore and the new Buick Regal, and would be homologated for the requirements in the countries where they would be marketed. This means we could expect some differences in the exterior, interior and the mechanicals of these models.
As the leaked images reveal, it seems that the China-bound 2018 Buick Regal looks very similar to the Opel Insignia Grand Sport. The most glaring difference is found on the front end – the China-bound Buick Regal features the brand’s waterfall grille and the large winged Buick logo on the center. Of course, the badges are different on the 2018 Buick Regal.Read the entire article Leaked images: China-bound 2018 Buick Regal is an Opel Insignia Grand Sport
The new face of Buick has been unveiled at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show with the launch of the 2017 Buick LaCrosse. Among the major influences of this new look are the highly acclaimed Avenir concept seen at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit and the Buick concept that appeared during the middle of the 20th century.
Set to start selling in the early part of the summer of next year, the LaCrosse has a redesigned grille that has a big opening and bears the Buick tri-shield insignia expressed with three colors (red, blue, and silver).
It is fitted with wing-like parts that are emphasized as they’re placed against darker waterfall grille bars that are reminiscent of the 1954 Wildcat II concept. Duncan Aldred, the vice president of Global Buick, said that the new LaCrosse marks the start of the next step in the brand’s quest to conquer the international scene.Read the entire article 2017 Buick LaCrosse gets official at LA Auto Show
At the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Opel unveiled the Monza Concept, a vehicle that showed a new design language which will be used on future models. According to Opel’s head designer Mark Adams, the first vehicle to be inspired by the Monza Concept will be the Insignia. In fact, according to Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neuman, when we will see the new Insignia we will see the Monza.
This also means that the upcoming Buick Regal, which is a rebadged version of the Opel Insignia, will also resemble the Monza Concept when it comes to design.
Still, there are no details regarding the launch date of the future models, but several sources said that the new Buick Regal will arrive sometime in 2017. In addition, the next-generation Opel Insignia/ Buick Regal will be more premium as General Motors wants to add polish to the brand.Read the entire article Next-generation Opel Insignia, Buick Regal will be inspired by the Monza Concept
As you may know already, the current Buick Regal is in fact a rebadged version of the Opel Insignia, which was designed for the European market. The Regal badge returned to the Buick lineup back in 2010, after a six-year break, and it is currently being assembled at GM’s Oshawa, Ontario, plant. Same plant is used by GM to build the Chevrolet Camaro, Cadillac XTS as well as the Chevrolet Impala.
Still, it appears that this plant doesn’t have a bright future ahead as GM already announced that the next-generation Camaro will be built at Lansing, Michigan while its Detroit-Hamtramck plant already builds the Chevrolet Impala.
The Cadillac XTS is a low volume vehicle and the production could be shifted to Detroit-Hamtramck plant too. Regarding the Regal, a redesign is planned for mid-2017, after the Opel Insignia gets a new generation.Read the entire article Next-generation Buick Regal might be built in Europe, will debut in 2017
General Motors has issued a recall of 8,208 Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (MY2014) over issues with their front brake assembly. GM said in a statement that rear brake rotors might have been installed in the front brake assembly of the sedans, resulting to “possible reduced braking performance.”
The carmaker said that the situation could significantly shorten front brake pad life as well as cut brake system performance, which could heighten risk of a crash. GM said that around 1,700 of the cars with customers and the rest are with dealers. According to GM, it is unaware of any crashes or injuries linked to the problem.
It added that only a “small percentage” of the recalled vehicles would have the wrong front rotors. A spokesman for GM said the carmaker has sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration informing the agency of the recall.Read the entire article GM is recalling 8,208 Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse

Buick unveiled an updated LaCrosse sedan at the New York Auto Show last week and as you may know already, the company has been relying on the LaCrosse for its recovery. Launched only weeks after the bankruptcy of General Motors in 2009, the sedan was considered to be Buick’s most significant debut. It had fought for relevancy after nearly being removed during GM's retrenchment.
The present generation LaCrosse is sleeker and has a more refined appearance than predecessor Buick sedans. The LaCrosse, which is Buick's flagship, has been successful. It was the best-selling nameplate in 2012. Together with the Enclave large crossover, Buick was able to form a promising reputation for fashionable designs and interiors that are quiet and comfortable.
However, four years is quite a long time to go by without a new facelift. The LaCrosse has become out of date. A few weeks from now, a 2014 Chevrolet Impala will be launched, demonstrating just how outdated the LaCrosse is.Read the entire article 2014 Buick LaCrosse needed a facelift to face the competition
After the 2014 LaCrosse, Buick also introduced today the 2014 Regal and 2014 Regal GS models at the New York Auto Show. Designed to be a sportier and smarter evolution of the brand’s dynamic midsize sedan, the 2014 Regal also introduces new safety features such as the new radar and camera for surround protection, including Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Collision Mitigation Braking.
The Adaptive Cruise Control is also offered. For those who don’t know, this system senses traffic in front of the Regal to adjust speed, including stopping the vehicle in heavy traffic and accelerating again.
Regarding the design, the 2014 Buick Regal comes with new front and rear styling with signature wing-shape LED daytime running lamps and LED taillamps. Inside, the 2014 Regal features redesigned central instrument panel and console along with a new fashion interior trim combination. Under the hood, there is a new 2.0-liter turbo engine delivering 18 percent more horsepower in the Regal Turbo.Read the entire article New York Auto Show: Buick debuts 2014 Regal

Buick’s upgraded sedan – the 2013 Regal with eAssist – has a starting price of $29,990, including destination, which is $2050 higher than the 2012 model. Buick announced earlier this year that for the 2013 model year, the Regal will use the eAssist mild-hybrid system as standard equipment. The price increase is mainly due to the addition of eAssist, which was formerly a standalone option that costs $2000.
The base 2.4-liter I-4 has been phased out. Instead, the 2013 Regal is now available with three powertrain options rather than three. Offered as standard equipment is an 182-hp 2.4-liter I-4 matched with a 15-kWh electric motor. Buyers could pay more to get a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 (with either 220 hp in the Regal Turbo or 270 hp in the GS). All Regal models have a six-speed automatic as standard. In addition, Buick offers a six-speed manual on the Regal GS and Turbo Premium III as a no-cost option. Buick also made the non-GS turbocharged engine as basically a no-cost option.
Both the Regal Premium I and Regal Turbo Premium I trims have a starting price of $31,520. This represents a price hike of $2145 and $375 for naturally-aspirated and turbo models, respectively. The Premium I package offers passive keyless entry, rear parking assist, and remote start. Going further up, there’s the Premium II package, which comes with features like HID headlights, a set of 18-inch alloy wheels, and a Harmon/Kardon surround-sound audio system. The 2.4-liter or the 2.0T are priced from $32,930, a $2145 hike for the former and $375 for the latter. The Regal Turbo will get a top-spec Premium III trim that is priced at $34,100, which means that it’s $295 higher than its comparable 2012 model.Read the entire article 2013 Buick Regal arrives with advanced eAssist powertrain and 36 highway mpg
Buick’s midsize luxury sport sedan’s sales last year had been so strong that it outperformed the Audi A4, Lexus IS250, and Acura TSX. However, it continues to evolve. The performance-oriented Regal GS is equipped with a new automatic transmission that’s already available in dealerships. In addition, the eAssist fuel efficiency technology would be considered standard after athe presentation of the 2013 model later in 2012.
The Regal has been named the “Best Upscale Midsize Car for Families” by U.S. News and World Report. Just last month, it was recognized as the “Best Car for the Money” in the same category. The “Upscale Midsize Car” category includes 19 different vehicles.
This means that a second transmission could now control the 270 horses of the Regal GS’ turbocharged 2.0L Ecotec, which was named in WardsAuto World’s 2012 “10 Best Engines” for North America. Rather than the existing six-speed manual, it now has a six-speed automatic with Driver Shift Control as a no-cost option.Read the entire article 2013 Buick Regal gets standard eAssist, GS model optional automatic transmission
It appears that the upcoming 2013 Lexus GS will make quite a buzz on the market and the Japanese manufacturer is confident that the new vehicle will outscore its market competitors. In fact, a Lexus executive said that the 2013 Lexus ES luxury sedan will make the Buick LaCrosse “laughable” as a luxury vehicle.
Although the executive didn’t want to give too many details, he said that the next-generation ES will be wider and longer than the current model but what is more interesting is the fact that the new ES will be the quietest car Lexus has ever made.
Moreover, the new Lexus ES will offer Hybrid Synergy Drive full-hybrid technology and it will be able to achieve a fuel economy of over 40 mpg on the highway.Read the entire article 2013 Lexus ES will make the Buick LaCrosse laughable
Many sources have told GMI that there won’t be a GS variant of the LaCrosse. However, they didn’t give any reason and they also declined to reveal if a plan to make one was ever approved. In the past year, there have been several rumors and spy images of the speculative high-performance Buick LaCrosse model.
GMI had previously reported that the LaCrosse GS would probably be powered by the upcoming twin-turbo V-6 engine from GM.
This plan was thought to be a plausible one, considering that this same engine will be used by the Cadillac XTS, the platform mate of the LaCrosse. Buick was able to introduce the Regal GS quickly, boosting hopes that the same strategy will be used on the bigger LaCrosse. The LaCrosse got the newest version of GM's 3.6-liter V-6 known as the LFX for the 2012 model year.Read the entire article GM not planning a GS version of the Buick LaCrosse
