Pricing of 2017 Cadillac XT5 begins at $39,990, set to arrive in April

As it begins hitting up showrooms by April, the carmaker announced that the 2017 Cadillac XT5 base model bears a $39,990 sticker price. Compared to its predecessor, it is relatively more expensive by nearly $1,400. However, it is considerably cheaper than other popular luxury midsize crossovers.

The price difference between the XT5 and the SRX is quite overwhelming. The top-trim Platinum model with standard all-wheel-drive comes at $63,495 while the 2016 SRX is priced at $52,725 tops. Aside from the Platinum and the base model, the XT5 is also offered in other trims: Luxury and Premium.

The former starts at $45,890 while its SRX counterpart was priced at &44,635. The Premium model, on the other hand, starts at $53,890 and is more expensive by about $5,000 than the comparable SRX trim. Built on a new platform, the XT5 features an all-new 3.6-liter, V-6 engine that is said to be more powerful and fuel-efficient than the 3.6-liter engine of the outgoing SRX.

2017 Cadillac XT5 or Crossover Touring 5

Cadillac has taken the covers off its latest offering -- the 2017 Crossover Touring 5 or XT5. This is the company’s first luxury crossover, which will kick off its planned expansion for the new crossover series. The XT5 premiered at the Dubai Auto Show and also appeared at the Los Angeles auto show as well.

The company says that production of the XT5 is slated to start in the spring of 2016 and these will be released to the U.S. and China markets. The “XT” designation of this crossover represents an important aspect of the Cadillac’s growth plan.

According to Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen, the XT5 will be the first of four crossovers that the brand will be releasing and expects it to enter the most popular market when it comes to luxury cars. Since the XT5 is a crucial part of its planned growth, the company developed it in its entirety from the inside out while continuing to keep in mind the need for customers to have more of everything, from efficiency, to luxury, space, and of course technology, adds de Nysschen.
