Cadillac again makes an effort to revive one of its oldest models, the XTS, for the 2018 model year. Last month, a couple of photos have been leaked which suggested that the large luxury sedan is leaning towards a more family friendly car with new design elements. But there is no need to speculate as we now have full details from the company.
The new photos that were released show that most of the noticeable upgrades are seen in the car’s front and rear fascia. In fact, a lot of people say that the XTS’ new look makes it look more like a CT6. The full-sized sedan now comes standard with LED headlights and taillights, with the headlights looking more angular. A new grille is now the focal point of the face. The company completes the exterior of the XTS with a new set of 19- and 20-inch wheels, and Brembo front brakes that come standard. What’s new for the car would be the optional Magnetic Ride Control as well as the Rear Air Leveling - both are firsts for the XTS. These features are meant to improve chassis dynamics and comfort, and also reduce noise.
Inside the cabin, customers have options such as the new Platinum-exclusive Maple Sugar and Jett Black trim to cover the interior with. And another upgrade the Cadillac XTS has been given is the next-generation infotainment system that none of the previous models have got. Every bit of the interior is wrapped in leather, complemented by a microfiber suede headliner, and premium wood trim. Overall, creating a luxurious and upscale atmosphere. That’s not all, the sound system has been upgraded to a new eight-speaker Bose audio system, and there are four USB ports where customers can charge their devices.Read the entire article 2018 Cadillac XTS gets new upgrades and now looks closer to a CT6
GM announced that the 2014 Cadillac XTS will receive an optional Twin Turbo V6 engine. Starting in August, the 2014 XTS luxury performance sedan will get the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers an SAE-certified 410 horsepower (306 kW) and 369 lb-ft of torque (500 Nm), making it the most power-dense six-cylinder engines among luxury cars.
Comparing it with the standard V6, the new engine delivers 105 lb-ft more torque. In both the CTS and XTS product lines, the twin turbo V6 is the centerpiece of a new model offering called Vsport. The Vsport is slotted under the high-performance V-Series models and includes best-performing technical elements inside the “regular” car line in a single model, powered by Twin Turbo engine.
The standard 2014 Cadillac XTS starts at 45,525, including destination fees, which is unchanged from 2013. For this amount of money you get the standard 3.6L V6 engine that makes 306 hp, CUE, intelligent brake assist and Magnetic Ride Control. Three option packages are available: Luxury, Premium and Platinum Collections.Read the entire article 2014 Cadillac XTS Vsport model gets the optional twin turbo V6 with 410 hp
Cadillac celebrates a milestone this week – the start of production of the new XTS luxury sedan in China. Aside from the Shanghai production, the XTS is also assembled in Oshawa, Ontario. This output is the most significant expansion move since Cadillac arrived in China, the world’s largest market, in 2006.
Bob Ferguson, vice president Global Cadillac, said that this growth in the local assembly of the brand in China occurs together with the strong momentum of its new product lineup and major dealership expansion too. Cadillac China’s dealer network has increased to over 150 locations, increasing by about twice its number in the last year.
Cadillac expects to have a total of 250 outlets within the next two years. In 2012, the brand reported sales of 30,000 units in China in 2012. It aims to reach or even surpass 100,000 units sold each year by 2015. The Cadillac XTS redefines the large luxury sedan via advanced technology like standard Magnetic Ride Control, the innovative CUE system for connectivity and control and sophisticated safety systems.Read the entire article Cadillac starts XTS production in China
Testers for Consumer Reports magazine were not impressed by several models that they recently examined. The 2013 Dodge Dart was described as "underpowered” while they claimed to be “underwhelmed” by General Motors Co's 2013 Cadillac XTS and Ford Motor Co's 2013 Lincoln MKS. The testers recommended Toyota Motor Corp's redesigned Lexus ES sedan but they clarified that the 2013 model doesn’t have the same ride and interior refinement as the previous ES.
The 2013 Dart sedan is the first jointly developed model from Fiat SpA and Chrysler. The 2013 Dart sedan considers the Toyota Corolla and the Ford Focus as its rivals.
Consumer Reports praised the "solid feel, handling and ride" of the Dart but it said that the compact sedan can’t be comparable yet to the best models in the class. Consumer Reports gave the Cadillac model a higher ranking than the Lincoln but still, none of them earned its recommendation.Read the entire article Consumer Reports not impressed by the 2013 Dodge Dart, Lincoln MKS, Cadillac XTS
Cadillac has finally released the full details of the black cab of its new 2013 XTS sedan. It also treated the fans to a glimpse of the limousine and hearse variants that will be released next. Five different XTS variants will be available for fleet buyers. These are the standard XTS Livery Sedan Package, the XTS Stretch Livery Sedan, the XTS Limousine, the XTS Funeral Coach hearse, and the XTS Armored.
To date, just the base Livery Sedan has been presented with the full set of information. The automaker hasn’t said yet what stretched the long-wheelbase cars are. It also hasn’t enumerated the precautionary methods that were used with the armoured model. The Livery Sedan Package is based on the consumer XTS so it has a length of about 202.0 inches.
Three people can be accommodated in the backseat. The 2013 Cadillac XTS livery models are offered for front-wheel drive XTS models. The new professional model uses the same 304-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission that the consumer model had used. Its fuel economy rating is also unchanged at 17/28 mpg city/highway.Read the entire article Cadillac announces new specialty vehicles based on the 2013 XTS
The Cadillac STS and DTS sedans were discontinued last year but the company is now relying on the Cadillac XTS to accomplish the job of two sedans. The XTS arrives this June in showrooms. This front-wheel-drive sedan comes with a roomy interior covered in soft-touch leather even on the base model.
However, the XTS is more agile than the STS and DTS filled with plenty of technology, which includes a new infotainment system that GM executives think is a big jump from rivals' systems. GM is counting on these models to go up against imports like the Audi A6 and BMW 5 series, which are preferred by consumers who want more space but still want to have a smooth ride.
Cadillac launched the XTS nationally last week. The XTS was built in Oshawa, Ontario, and uses the large-sedan architecture that is shared with the Buick LaCrosse and Chevrolet Impala.Read the entire article Cadillac relying on the XTS to do the job of the discontinued STS and DTS sedans
The new Cadillac XTS luxury sedan may surprise you. It uses a new system that benefits the car and the driver in ways that are not readily noticeable. It has been fitted with technologies that are activated the moment that the driver pushes the ignition button. But it also boasts several enhancements such as a new capless fuel filler assembly.
John Hamilton, Cadillac fuel fill systems design engineer, said that this device aids in keeping hands dirt-free and fuel-free. It also prevents scratches on the paint that’s the result of a swinging cap. It even helps make the engine run smoothly.
Since fuel systems have to be fully sealed, having a loose cap can trigger a “check engine” light and result to a service visit. The 2013 XTS has no traditional twist-off cap hiding behind its fuel door. Due to this, the door itself doesn’t have to accommodate a hand and was created to be smaller and less obvious on the XTS’ sheet metal.Read the entire article Cadillac XTS will feature capless fueling technology
General Motors is planning to produce three Cadillac models in China, with hopes to follow in the success of the Buick brand in this country. According to The Detroit News, Cadillac will announce these plans at the Beijing Auto Show later this month. Cadillac will ultimately produce the ATS sport sedan, midsize CTS sedan, and executive XTS sedan in China.
Currently, there’s just one Cadillac model is in China -- the STS-based SLS executive sedan. Shanghai General Motors, a long-standing joint venture between General Motors and SAIC Motor Corp., is the producer of this vehicle. Since the SLS is built in China and not imported, the Chinese government can’t impose heavy tariffs on it. This means that there are major price differences in Chinese-market Cadillacs.
A 2012 Cadillac CTS that’s at the top of the line is priced at $57,555; however, Chinese-market models are priced at $71,032 after the import taxes and fees are included.Read the entire article Cadillac planning to build and sell ATS, CTS, XTS models in China
Cadillac plans to kick off its advertising campaign for its new XTS with a bang, as the company bought commercial spots during the TV coverage of the much-popular Kentucky Derby on May 5. Cadillac plans to use the commercial as a platform to launch further marketing programs for two new models. The TV commercials, which will feature the XTS large sedan, are scheduled to start rolling out into showrooms in June.
According to Cadillac vice president of marketing Don Butler, speaking during the New York auto show last week, the Kentucky Derby ads will be then followed by more commercial spots during the U.S. Open golf tournament later in June. The company will then be conducting a larger advertising campaign for the ATS compact sedan, which would be rolled out in late summer. The TV commercials will debut during the London 2012 Olympic Games, scheduled to begin in July 27.
As to why Cadillac chose to advertise during large sports events, Butler said that “sports properties work really well” for the company. According to Butler, the advertising of the two new cars will account for around 80% of Cadillac US advertising budget, with ATS getting a larger slice of the pie.Read the entire article Cadillac eyes three big sports events to advertise ATS & XTS
GM announced today that the 2013 Cadillac XTS, which will be available this later this spring, will have a starting price of $44,995 including destination. According to Cadillac, the XTS will be available in three versions: Luxury, Premium and Platinum. As expected, the Platinum model will offer the highest level of technology and luxury, and will feature a unique front appearance, wheels and interior colors, materials and trim.
An advanced all-wheel-drive system, using Haldex technology to transfer power front-to-back, and side-to-side along the rear axle, will be offered on all three trim levels above the standard model. Cadillac also prepared a new CUE iPad Application, which looks just like the center screen that is the hub of the system in order to familiarize dealers with the experience but also to provide videos and information.
XTS owners will use the OnStar live assistance for CUE owners. “The all-new XTS redefines our approach to the luxury sedan by combining advanced technology, stunning design and confident performance,” said Don Butler, vice president Cadillac marketing. “XTS brings new and exclusive technology, while still delivering the space and elegance that is Cadillac’s DNA.”Read the entire article 2013 Cadillac XTS U.S. pricing announced
Vibrations on the seat bottom are actually very useful in alerting drivers of an impending crash. The first car in the industry to use this type of haptic feedback to improve safety is the all-new Cadillac XTS luxury sedan that starts production in the spring. This technology on directional tactile sensation is patented as the Cadillac Safety Alert Seat.
Vibrating pulse patterns are generated on the left and/or right side of the lower bolster to inform the driver of possible dangers like drifting from a traffic lane or onto nearby objects while parking. Both sides of the seat pulsate when there are perceived threats from the front and rear. Adrian Lund, president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, said that it is pleased that automakers are trying out new things that help alert the drivers when trouble is coming.
This system works together with other visual alerts. According to research, this type of feedback could quickly and accurately focus driver attention to the direction of possible trouble. General Motors Active Safety Technical Fellow Raymond Kiefer said that this is similar to being tapped on the shoulder to get some attention.Read the entire article Cadillac XTS features industry-first directional seat vibrations to alert drivers
Luxury brand Cadillac is getting nearer to its vision of self-driving vehicles with an advanced active safety and driver assistance system that it is introducing on the all-new 2013 Cadillac XTS. This is easily the most technologically advanced production car that Cadillac has ever offered. The available Driver Assistance Package will arrive to the XTS this fall.
It will use sensor fusion – the first General Motors system of its kind to do so. Sensor fusion allows for the integration of a wide range of sensing and positioning technologies that can alarm drivers of road hazards and help them prevent crashes.
It is considered a building block to develop semi-autonomous and fully autonomous vehicles, which are created to sustain lane position and get used to to traffic environments. GM hopes that the more advanced self-driving technology, which could enable semi and fully autonomous driving, will be offered by the end of the decade. In developing sensor fusion, GM is drawing on its experience with The Boss, a fully autonomous Chevrolet Tahoe that was developed by GM, Carnegie Mellon University and other partner companies. Its name is derived from GM R&D founder Charles F. “Boss” Kettering.Read the entire article 2013 Cadillac XTS to receive sensor fusion driver assistance package
The redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala was spied last week, confirming that it shares some features with the 2013 XTS sedan -- Cadillac's new flagship. The new Chevrolet Impala will arrive at its showrooms in early 2013. In these photos, the car was heavily camouflaged but it’s clear that it has a sleek silhouette with a long nose, short rear deck, as well as wrap-around headlamps and front fascia.
Sources said that there was a full-sized clay version of the Impala seen in the design studio before styling was finalized. What it showed was that it shared some design cues with the previous generation Audi A6. The clay model had a large, tall, split grille that’s reminiscent of the 2013 Malibu.
The 2014 Impala's grille is different due to its generous use of chrome-like materials.Read the entire article 2014 Chevrolet Impala will shares some features with the 2013 Cadillac XTS

Cadillac XTS sedan will begin to arrive at dealer showrooms in late spring or early summer of 2012. This is a small niche, referred to as "black car" business within the industry, but Cadillac places a lot of importance in it nevertheless. This car is expected to appeal to import luxury car buyers. Cadillac built the XTS to be its biggest and most luxurious car.
It targets consumers who are looking for state-of-the-art technology. The XTS will be equipped with Cadillac's new CUE infotainment system, and a reconfigurable instrument cluster that offers four different displays ranging from simple to complex.
Patrick Nally, XTS marketing manager, said that this model is targeted at those who own an Audi A6, BMW 5 series, or Mercedes-Benz E class. In particular, "black car" actually refers to the Cadillacs, Lincolns and a several other models used for livery vehicles often spotted at airports and hotels.Read the entire article 2012 Cadillac XTS appealing to import luxury car buyers
Starting in 2012, customers will finally get the chance to experience a more connected and personalized driving with the Cadillac CUE. It manages to offer a wide range of in-vehicle experience that is a combination of intuitive design and information and entertainment commands and controls, many of which are considered as pioneers in the auto industry. The name CUE means Cadillac User Experience, which should immediately tell you what to expect from this new offering.
It can pair information data with entertainment data sourced from MP3 players, SD cards, USBs, and even link a maximum of 10 mobile devices that are Bluetooth enabled, to the vehicle infotainment system. Unlike those in other vehicles, the CUE makes everything simple by allowing customized information, the use of natural voice commands, and even having larger icons.
There are even fewer buttons. A number of luxury cars today for example have 20 buttons that can control entertainment and radio functions. For the CUE however, there are only 4 buttons. At the center of it all is the touch-screen 8-inch LCD.Read the entire article GM unveils Cadillac CUE infotainment system! 2013 XTS the first to get it!
The production version of the Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept will arrive in 2012. The XTS will be offered as front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, or as a plug-in hybrid. The XTS Platinum Concept had been powered by a 3.6 liter engine that’s mated to a plug-in hybrid system. This system resulted to an output of 350hp and 295 pound-feet of torque (400 Nm).
The car’s handling is improved with the use of a Magnetic Ride Control that was also used on the existing Corvettes and CTS-V models.
The XTS Platinum Concept made use of technologies such as OLED displays that replace the traditional gauges. OLED, also known as organic LED, provides brighter colors and its blacks are darker blacks, similar to what’s featured on the newest high-end phones. When it comes to passenger space, the XTS scores high points. The interior offers plenty of luxurious and advanced features but still provides a big room for passengers.Read the entire article Official: Cadillac XTS coming in 2012
Production of the next-generation Chevrolet Impala will be at General Motors’ plant in Detroit-Hamtramck, Mich. The current Impala is built at GM's Oshawa, Ontario, plant. What we know about the next Impala is that it will have similar dimensions to the current Impala and it will share a front-wheel-drive platform with a new Cadillac.
The Detroit-Hamtramck plant is also where the Chevrolet Volt and the upcoming restyled and re-engineered 2013 Malibu will be built.
The Cadillac DTS and the Buick Lucerne are assembled at this plant but the DTS has stopped production this week and the Lucerne will also end its run within a few weeks. GM has yet to reveal information about the new Impala such as its model year or its time frame but according to sources, the new sedan will start production in November or December 2012.Read the entire article 2014 Chevrolet Impala will share platform with the Cadillac XTS
Cadillac aims to sell off all the remaining STS and DTS models on its dealer lots before the arrival of the replacement – the XTS – next year. Cadillac’s inventory consists of 3000 DTS models and fewer than 900 STS models. The XTS concept made its debut in Detroit last year and since then, the anticipation for its production version has been high.
Cadillac has already stopped the production of the STS and its final DTS model will stop rolling out after three or four weeks. Cadillac reported last year that the XTS, its new purported flagship car, will use a stretched version of GM’s front-wheel-drive Epsilon II platform.
James R. Vurpillat, Cadillac’s Global Marketing Director, told Ward’s that XTS will be assembled at GM’s Grand River plant in Lansing, Michigan. The CTS is currently being built in this plant, which is also where the new ATS will be produced. Cadillac didn’t say when exactly the XTS will start to roll out. Vurpillat would only say that it won’t begin this fall.Read the entire article Cadillac looking to sell all remaining DTS, STS units ahead of XTS launch
