2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer unveiled in Thailand

The all new 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer’s official debut is slated to be on March 26 at the start of the 2012 Bangkok Motor Show yet but the model was introduced recently at a special event in Bangkok. The new Trailblazer is built on the same platform as the re-designed Chevy Colorado and its appearance is also similar to the new Colorado.

The Trailblazer is built on the same underpinnings as a truck. Chevrolet is selling it off as a capable off road vehicle and a passenger hauler that seats seven. The Trailblazer is offered with two engines that come from GM’s range of Duramax diesels. A 2.8L turbocharged four cylinder serves as the larger choice. On the Trailblazer, it produces 180 hp and 346 lb.-ft. of torque.

The smaller choice – a 2.5L four cylinder – can deliver 150 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. There will also be five speed manual offered with both motors and a six-speed automatic. GM said that there will be more engines to be released soon for particular markets. He also said that it’s likely that the diesel variants won’t be offered in the U.S. Driving off-road would be an easy task for the Trailblazer with its independent rear suspension, two or four wheel drive and the use of coil springs throughout.

GM exec Jeff Luke says that 2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer is not coming in the US

Jeff Luke, who is the vehicle line executive for General Motors' crossovers and trucks, has disclosed that the TrailBlazer was considered but that there are no current plans to bring it to the United States. This would surely disappoint the US-based Chevrolet dealers who thought otherwise. Over the past months, some of the dealers have indicated that they expect to see the mid-sized TrailBlazer together with Chevrolet's U.S. lineup.

The TrailBlazer concept was launched at the Dubai International Motor Show in November. The seven-seat vehicle will be sold worldwide starting early this year in Thailand. This SUV will be equipped with a diesel engine. The vehicle is based on the redesigned Colorado, a body-on-frame pickup engineered for worldwide markets and the United States.

Sales of the refurbished Colorado are set to start next year. Chevrolet sells vehicles in more than 130 markets outside the US, but it has not disclosed which markets will get the SUV.

GMC Envoy may be resurrected using the new Chevrolet Trailblazer platform

General Motors recently introduced the all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer intended for global markets. This definitely isn’t a crossover as it is based on an all-new body on frame chassis that will be used on the next Chevrolet Colorado truck. GM internally refers to this new platform as "31xx".

The Trailblazer isn’t one of the models that will be available in North America (U.S. and Canada) but it’s possible that this will change especially since the 31xx platform has a production outlet in Wentzville, MO. There isn’t a lot going on with the GMC brand.

It has recently launched the Terrain and the updated HD trucks but no new product has been released in the past few years. This has led to speculations that GMC should consider making a 31xx-based Envoy for itself. It is obvious that Chevrolet’s focus is on small cars as part of efforts to raise its “green” reputation.

2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer unveiled at the Dubai International Motor Show

Chevrolet unveiled today the all-new TrailBlazer, a seven-seat show vehicle that previews company’s latest SUV offering. Just like the Colorado, the TrailBlazer will make its debut in Thailand in early 2012 and promises to combine the hauling and towing capability of a body-on-frame SUV with the ride comfort and efficiency of a crossover.

The show vehicle features an all-wheel-drive system and it is powered by a new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, featuring a variable-geometry turbocharger.

Some of the highlights of the exterior design are the highly detailed sheet metal work in the hood, the door panels and rear quarters, front and rear LED Chevrolet signature lightning, new 20-inch aluminum wheels featuring 20-inch Cooper Zeon LTZ tires and exterior mirror-mounted LED turn signals.
