Chevrolet has just commenced sales of the 2017 Chevy Trax this fall, hoping to build on the momentum that the previous model has accumulated. Now at the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, Chevrolet is showing a concept of the 2017 Trax that explores further off-road capabilities for the small SUV – the Chevrolet Trax Activ concept.
The Chevrolet Trax Activ concept basically features a new front end look with a matching interior. According to Todd Parker, design director for exterior component and accessories at Chevrolet, the Trax Activ concept shown at the 2016 SEMA Show boasts of an all-new attitude thanks to its increased capabilities and a number styling enhancements.
This concept is basically derived from an all-wheel drive version of the 2017 Chevrolet Trax. To transform the production model into an exploring concept, the carmaker redesigned the SUV’s front and rear fascias. Chevrolet lifted its suspension and widened its tracks. Chevrolet just unveiled the new 2017 Trax, a souped-up version of its bestselling small SUV that now boasts of a more modern all-new front-end design and luxuriously upgraded interiors. As announced by Chevrolet, the 2016 Trax Midnight Edition is being introduced with an all new in-vogue look in bold black. This small SUV with a new style statement is bound to be a favourite among its customers and is expected to continue to boost crossover sales, which soar to a record high in 2015.
On the outside, the Midnight Edition follows the LTZ trim and is equipped with black wheels, beltline molding, bezels and door handles, and has the rear license plate in black appliqué too. Similarly, the interiors feature seats trimmed with gray accents and gray piping on the floor mats too.

Early next year, Chevrolet will start rolling ads for its Trax crossover but what’s more interesting is that the company wull use plenty of them for the digital world. According to Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet’s global marketing boss, the Trax ads will be almost exclusively digital and social-based.
Still, we will see TV ads with the Trax only in some urban markets, where the crossover would be a better offer than the Silverado. The American manufacturer prepared a series of short films and as expected, they all appeal to young customers.
Mahoney also added that the Trax will not steal SUV customers as they will try to attract buyers from car segments. The Chevrolet Trax is joining the brand’s lineup in the United States to take advantage of growing demand for compact crossovers in the country. The 2015 Chevrolet Trax, unveiled at an event on the eve of the New York Auto Show, is around 19 inches shorter than the Equinox and 7 inches shorter than the phased-out HHR.
Chevrolet’s corporate sibling Buick is already experiencing tremendous sales success with the Encore, which was launched in early 2013. The Trax is underpinned by the same subcompact platform that underpins the Encore and is powered by the same 1.4-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine. So far, not many mainstream brands have fielded offerings in the compact crossover segments.
Honda is planning to offer this late fall a crossover based on its Fit subcompact hatchback while Jeep is intending to launch its Renegade small crossover in the US early next year. As for the Trax, its closest competitor in terms of size would be the Nissan Juke. The new Chevrolet Trax is available to acquire at a starting price of just £15,495 on-the-road. The Trax could be availed in two trim levels and in three engine options. The Chevrolet Trax small sports utility vehicle has earned a five-star rating from European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). The Trax is the seventh Chevrolet model to secure Euro NCAP's five-star rating, along with the Aveo, Volt, Cruze, Orlando, Malibu and Captiva. Chevrolet is introducing one of its latest models – an agile yet fuel-efficient small sports utility vehicle with the name of Trax. Having a petite measurement for an SUV at 4,248 mm in length, 1,776 mm in width and a 2,555 mm wheelbase, the Chevrolet Trax features dynamic body lines that convey agility and movement.

Making its debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show is the Chevrolet Trax, which is the automaker’s version of the Vauxhall/Opel Mokka. It is set to go on sale in Europe in early 2013. The Trax, a high-riding vehicle that could seat five people, measures 4248mm long and 1776mm wide. It has a 2555mm wheelbase, which makes the Trax 32mm shorter and 131mm higher than the corresponding Vauxhall.
Similar to the Vauxhall Mokka, the Chevrolet model has an engine range that includes a 138bhp, 148lb ft 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol, a 117bhp naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.7-litre diesel unit, which has an output of 128bhp and 221lb ft of torque. Only the 1.4 and 1.7-litre-powered cars could be equipped with all-wheel drive and a six–speed automatic gearbox.
A stop-start system will be used on all manual transmission versions. What’s available as standard on the top-of-the-line Chevrolet Trax models includes Chevrolet’s MyLink multimedia system, which comes with a seven-inch touchscreen. The new SUV’s safety features include electronic stability control with hill start assist (HSA). General Motors Co. will invest $120 million to manufacture the Chevrolet Trax crossover and a new generation of big pickups at plants in Mexico, according to GM Mexico president Ernesto Hernandez. GM is planning to build the small SUV crossover in the central state of San Luis Potosi.
Hernandez said that the Trax will be seen this September at the Paris Motor Show before it arrives in the fourth quarter at the Mexican market.
About $200 million more will be invested in GM's Silao plant in Guanajuato state where it will start to work on a new generation of full-sized pickups in 2013. Hernandez said that 1,000 new jobs will be created from the investment that amounts to $420 million. General Motors Co. plans to launch the Chevrolet Trax at the Paris auto show in September and to roll out the small crossover in more than 140 global markets excluding the United States. GM will build the Chevrolet Trax on the Gamma platform that currently underpins the Chevrolet Sonic.
GM will also introduce two other small crossovers built on the Gamma same platform: the Opel Mokka that would roll out by end of 2012 and the Buick Encore that will hit showrooms in early 2013.
According to the company, the main reason for the decision not to roll out the Trax in the US was the success of the larger Chevrolet Equinox crossover. Chevrolet announced today the all-new Trax small sport utility vehicle, a sister model of the Opel Mokka, which will join its portfolio next year as the car will make its official debut in September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
According to the official press release, the Chevrolet Trax will be offered in over 140 markets and will arrive at the European Chevrolet dealerships in spring of 2013, following the introduction of the all-new Chevrolet Malibu and the Cruze station wagon in 2012.
