Nissan adds King Cab body style to its 2017 Titan and Titan XD large pickup truck lineup

A new body configuration will be added to Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD large pickup trucks starting in the 2017 model year. The Japanese carmaker announced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that its Crew Cab and Single Cab body configurations for the Titan and Titan XD are now joined by the new King Cab body.

With the announcement, Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD lineup is now available in three cabs and three bed length configurations. Both the Titan King Cab and Titan XD King Cab are available in either 4x4 and 4x2 drive. Three grade levels -- S, SV and PRO-4X – are also offered.

The King Cab configuration is basically a cross between the Crew Cab and Single Cab. Its cabin is smaller than on the Crew Cab but is still larger than the Single Cab. Moreover, the King Cab still offers seating for rear passengers, just like the Crew Cab. According to Nissan, the King Cab version of the half-ton Titan and the three-quarter ton Titan XD will be able to accommodate up to six occupants – three in the somewhat cramp rear cabin and another three on the front row. The front row usually seats two – the driver and a passenger.

Alfa Romeo displays 510 hp Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV at 2017 Chicago Auto Show

If you are wondering why this Alfa Romeo SUV being shown at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show looks so familiar, wonder no more. Well, it is because it is identical to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV that was unveiled by the Italian carmaker at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.

When we say these models are identical, we mean that they are the same. While Alfa Romeo showed both the base and higher-end versions of the Stelvio in LA, the one shown in Chicago is only the performance variant. Simply put, the version being shown at 2017 Chicago Auto Show sits at the top of the range of the Stelvio SUV model. Welcome, the dynamics-focused Stelvio QV or Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

As far as the looks of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is concerned, it might be easier to describe this SUV as the taller and more practical version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan. This shouldn’t surprise us since the Stelvio SUV has essentially adopted the design language found in the Giulia sedan. The Stelvio also features flowing headlights, muscular wings and a large triangular grille – as found on the Giulia sedan.

Nissan launches 6 Midnight Edition models at 2017 Chicago Auto Show

What does Chevy’s all–new Redline Series have to say about this? Nissan always takes the lead in designing trim packages for self-expression. As soon as Nissan first came out with the Maxima Midnight Edition last 2016, it quickly gained a positive feedback from its customers. To keep up with the increasing demand for more varieties, Nissan introduces the Midnight Edition package for its Sentra, Rogue, Pathfinder, Murano, and Altima models.

According to Nissan’s Eric Ledieu, about eighty-five percent of the entire SR sales has been accounted for the Maxima SR after it initially introduced the black-on-black exterior trim package. Ledieu added that although the positive audience reaction was quite unexpected at that time, they made it immediately available on the Maxima SR. After all, increasingly more people want to have that “sporty look” with dark accents and dark wheels.

The latest “Midnight Edition” basically consists of black trim accessories but it now has broader and more numerous choices for exterior body paints. Depending on the model, there will be several red variations available including Red Alert, Cayenne and Coulis. The black variants will come in Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black and Super Black. Other than red and black, customers can also avail the Midnight Edition with a Pearl White exterior paint finish.

Toyota unveils TRD Sport grade for 2018 Tundra pickup and Sequoia SUV

Both the Toyota Sequoia and the Toyota Tundra may be tough vehicles but they don’t lack style. But how could we make these two vehicles – some of the largest in Toyota’s lineup – become tougher yet more stylish? Let’s ask the guys at Toyota’s in-house tuning shop, Toyota Racing Development or TRD.

However, before we know it, TRD has already developed a new grade for the 2018 models of both Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck and the Sequoia large SUV. This grade – called as TRD Sport – makes sure that performance and style go hand-in-hand wherever the Tundra and the Sequoia are driven.

Let’s start off with the Tundra TRD Sport. This grade is available in 4x4 and 4x2 models in CrewMax and Double Cab body variants of the Tundra pickup as powered by a 381-hp 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. As a full-size sports utility vehicle, the Ford Expedition should really be large and spacious. For the 2018 model year, Ford has made the Expedition full-size SUV larger and more spacious than its predecessor, but there is a big twist to the game of giants – it is much lighter.

Typically, adding size and space would result to an addition in overall weight. But this is not the case with 2016 Ford Expedition – it is larger, roomier and lighter. Of course, the power source underneath remains the same, although Ford has vowed to upgrade it to something better.

For the 2018 model year, the standard-length Ford Expedition is around four inches longer than its predecessor. Its wheelbase has also been increased by around three inches. These increase in measurements should allow this full-size SUV to offer more interior room, including those for the cargo. The roominess of the Expedition’s interior is complemented by its outstanding flexibility.

Dodge is making a bold move by introducing a 475 hp V8-powered Durango SRT. Despite not using the Hellcat’s 707hp engine, the three-row full-size Durango SRT is its fastest SUV at the moment. It also packs up to 475 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to push the new SUV from zero to sixty in under 4.4 seconds before hitting a quarter mile within 12.9 seconds.

Apart from its 392-cubic-inch HEMI V8 engine, the 2018 Durango SRT is built with exciting new features. To begin, the SUV is equipped with Track, Sport, Snow, ECO, Tow and Valet driving modes. The Sport Mode allows its transmission “shift times” to reduce by at least 50% than when using the normal Auto Mode. At the same time, the Sport Mode sends 65% of torque to the rear while 70% more torque is delivered when the Track Mode is applied.

The Durango SRT also features the latest cold-air intake that helps supply cool air to the engine at any driving condition. If there’s more, the SUV’s TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic gearbox has been recalibrated to accurately determine the vehicle’s longitudinal and lateral acceleration points, engine torque gradients, tire slip and other variables.

With a special photography release, Nissan North America, Inc. focuses the attention on the upcoming standard/half-ton version of TITAN at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. This move follows on the success of the redefined TITAN lineup's flagship XD unit.

According to Nissan Director of Product Planning for Trucks, SUVs, and Commercial Vehicles and Chief Product Specialist for TITAN and TITAN XD Rich Miller, there is a strong resemblance between the TITAN and the TITAN XD especially because of their rugged exterior styling.

Volkswagen has brought the MOMO Edition Jetta GLI to the 2016 Chicago Auto Show following its debut last year at the SEMA Show. Built with the all-new Jetta GLI, the MOMO Edition is made with an OEM-Plus tuning with an Italian flair to appeal to sports-oriented customers.
