Two months ago, there were reports about Tesla Semi sales as it skyrocketed just a few weeks after being launched in the United States. Huge companies like J.B. Hunt, Walmart, Loblaws and Meijer had placed their reservations on the all-electric truck, as well as some other international companies. Also, the largest reservation that has been made was for 125 units (by none other than UPS).
Furthermore, Tesla received a total of around 140 pre-orders from the companies that ordered from them. And now, that number has probably doubled or tripled. The electric car maker promises to begin deliveries for the first batch of orders starting in late 2019.
Other companies that made reservations late last year include Sysco, DHL Supply Chain, Mecca & Son Trucking, Fercam, European based Girteka Logistics, Ryder and some others.Read the entire article Tesla is now taking orders for its Semi in Europe
Since Elon Musk revealed the Tesla Semi a couple of weeks ago, the automaker began receiving a number of pre-orders of the all-electric truck. Many of these orders come from large American companies including J.B. Hunt, Walmart, Loblaws and Meijer. According to Reuters, the all-electric automaker has already collected a total of 116 reservations, and orders continue to increase daily.
And as of the other day, there were already 140 pre-orders from 11 different companies, according to Jalopnik. Other companies that are part of the list of include Italian company Fercam, European based Girteka Logistics, Ryder, DHL Supply Chain, Fortigo Freight Services, Mecca & Son Trucking, Flexport.com and some others.
Anheuser-Busch had just pre-ordered the most number of Tesla Semis to date. If our sources are correct, they pre-ordered at least 40 units of the all-electric trucks, which they will use for the transport of goods such as those from Budweiser.Read the entire article Tesla Semi orders have skyrocketed
It took quite some time for Tesla to reveal their new all-electric truck called the Semi. And before it made its debut, it received a lot of hype and attention, which is why people were excited for its reveal. Apart from being an all-electric truck, it was also supposed to be quicker than any diesel alternatives.
But here is the biggest question: does performance matter to long-haul drivers? Well, according to the UK’s Road Haulage Association (RHA), performance is not actually that important.
Rod McKenzie RHA policy advisor of Autocar said earlier this week that drivers do not really prioritize performance figures, and what actually concerns them would be the charging ports that are lacking, as well as the minimal range of the Tesla.Read the entire article Truck drivers don’t care about the Tesla Semi’s capabilities
After several delays, Tesla unveiled its new all-electric heavy duty truck – the new Tesla Semi. The Silicon Valley-based carmaker touted the new Semi as having the ability to offer truck drivers with better experience, thanks to heightened safety levels and lower cost of transporting cargo. But after the reveal, there is one enigma that needed to be unraveled – the price of the new Tesla Semi.
Tentatively, the pricing for the new Tesla Semi could go as low as $150,000. Yes, the price hasn’t been fully finalized yet, with some changes on the rate still possible. While the prices for the new Tesla Semi are still tentative, they could remain as they are when the carmaker finally announces the final pricing of its new electric heavy duty truck.
The carmaker will be offering the new Tesla Semi electric heavy duty truck in two flavors. The first of them could go as far as 300 miles (480 km) before needing to re-charge, and this version has a starting price of $150,000. For fleet customers seeking a Tesla Semi that could cover a longer distance, they could go for the version that has an all-electric range of 500 miles (800 km) on a single charge.Read the entire article Tesla Semi all-electric heavy duty truck has base price of $150,000 and reservation fee of $20,000
Tesla revealed that with its new Semi, truck drivers can expect better experience especially with heightened safety and the lower cost of transporting cargo.
Indeed, the cabin of the new Tesla Semi is designed to focus on the driver. Thus ingress and egress is easier because of the unhindered stairs. Full standing room is also offered inside and by having a centered driver position, visibility is optimized.
There are two displays, both of which have touchscreen capabilities, placed symmetrically on each of the driver’s side to allow for easy access to electronic data logging, blind spot monitoring, and easy access to navigation. Then there is the built-in connectivity, which by being directly integrated to the management system of the fleet, allows for remote monitoring and support scheduling and routing.Read the entire article Tesla reveals new all-electric Semi
The Tesla Semi, the company’s all-electric heavy-duty truck, was supposed to make its debut a couple of months ago, after being delayed for a few times. But now, it seems like they are finally ready to reveal it later this month, on November 16, at their design center in Hawthorne, California. Why do we think that it will push through this time? Well, because they have already begun sending invites for the event. Guests will be entertained at 7:00PM Pacific time, while Musk will hit the stage after an hour or so.
The latest teaser shows the silhouette of the all-electric heavy-duty truck, and it sure does look a lot like the truck that was spotted a few months back. The teaser also highlights the truck’s aggressive LED headlights.
There isn’t much information available with regards to the Tesla Semi. However, it’s widely speculated that it will be a short to mid-range truck, as opposed to a long-hauler. He also teased a few record breaking specs in terms of torque and handling, saying that the truck is actually much better than anything that was suggested in the media to date. Other details that we have previously heard of are all just rumours at this point.Read the entire article Tesla releases Semi teaser, sends out invites for November 16 official release
As the gift-giving season approaches, Neiman Marcus wants to relieve some of the buyers’ anxiety by releasing its holiday season’s shopping catalogue. Yes, it’s that time of the year once again and while the Halloween parties have not even started yet, the very posh department store wants to make sure that this early, the filthy rich people have their minds made up on the two special items from its catalogue. After all, who wouldn’t want to get a Rolls-Royce Dawn for a present?
If love means to give and take, Neiman Marcus is offering two bespoke Rolls-Royce Dawn this season--- one “for him” and one “for her” (or “yours and mine” to be exact). The 2017 look book is basically a showcase of gift ideas for the coming holidays. It also happens to be its 91st edition. With a design that featured the “Saint Tropez Dawn” and the “Lago di Como Dawn”, both Rolls Royce and Neiman are able to brilliantly display this year’s most special gifts on the wish list.
To tell the difference, the Saint Tropez’s exterior features an orange shade while Lago di Como is in the shade of blue. The “orangey” Saint Tropez’s interior is a mixture of open pore Canadel wood, seashell leather and shades of chocolate and bright oranges. The Coniston blue convertible meanwhile comes with dark brushed metal dashboard trims instead of wood. Its interior mostly consists of Selby grey and black leather, but then both cars will be featuring silver bonnets and silver top fabrics.Read the entire article Rolls-Royce Dawn Yours and Mine Edition tops 2017 Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogue
Earlier this year, Tesla sent “Save the Date” emails to customers with regards to the reveal of the Tesla Semi truck. The event had been set to take place on October 26, after being postponed from the original release date of September 28.
Back in April, Elon Musk even tweeted, saying that the team has done an amazing job building the Tesla Semi truck. He described it as the “next level” vehicle. But just recently, Tesla announced that the Semi’s reveal date will again be moved to November 16. You are probably wondering what’s with the delay this time. Well, Musk tweeted that it has something to do with production bottlenecks for the Model 3, plus the company had to increase battery cell production for the energy storage system that is currently being sent to Puerto Rico and other areas that had been affected by tragedies.
Despite all that, we found that Tesla will actually cover travel and accommodation expenses caused by the delay of the Semi truck’s reveal, so customers should not be disappointed.Read the entire article Official unveiling of Tesla Semi truck is postponed to November 16
Tesla is shaking up the automotive industry once more by entering the semi-truck market. The Elon Musk-led company is set to debut its own electric semi-truck in September this year. And now, Elon Musk has given us the first sneak peek on the up-and-coming unnamed electric truck.
Tesla's head honcho Elon Musk was in Vancouver, Canada having a TED talk- discussing underground transportation. In between, he also revealed tidbits about his new electric Semi-Truck project. Furthermore, he also revealed the first ever shadowy teaser image of his Tesla Semi Truck.
The image expectedly went viral, but is not as dramatically different compared to the other concept vehicle images truck makers have revealed in the previous years. While there is an apparent rise in advanced electric techs in the passing years, it has been suited for smaller automobiles that cover shorter distances. The Semi Truck looks tall and the concept is quite futuristic, especially the headlights. And it appears there are no side mirrors present. It is possible that a camera system is fitted instead.Read the entire article Tesla electric Semi Truck partly revealed in first teaser
Tesla Motors is still shocking the world with its electric vehicles built with performances are at par or even better than their conventionally powered rivals. However, it turned out that Tesla is planning to go beyond electric sedans and SUVs. As Tesla founder and chief executive Elon Musk announced it would soon unveil the carmaker’s first semi-truck and pickup truck.
Through a post in Twitter, Musk revealed that the carmaker is unveiling the new Tesla Semi truck in September this year. He added that Tesla’s development team did an amazing job in creating this new semi truck, which he described as on a “seriously next level.” As far as we know, Musk isn’t joking. Of course, “seriously next level” could mean that it could be entirely different from the semi-trucks we know, thereby possible changing the game according to Tesla’s own definition.
To note, Musk tweeted in 2016 that Tesla’s Jerome Guillen was already test-driving the carmaker’s new semi truck. He also noted that Guillen was responsible for leading Daimler’s most successful semi-truck program. In addition, Musk said during the unveiling of Master Plan Part Deux last summer that Tesla is already in the early stages of development of its new heavy-duty trucks and high passenger-density urban transport. By then, he announced that these units would be ready to be unfurled this year. Now, Musk is staying true to his words and confirmed that Tesla is indeed unveiling a new semi-truck this September.Read the entire article Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirms plans to release new semi and pickup trucks
Nikola Motor’s hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck is highly appealing with its many advancements but don’t expect it to arrive in the near future. In November 2016, Toyota announced the possibility of applying hydrogen technology to semi-trailers, so such trucks might come soon. But while Toyota is still conducting a California-based feasibility and exploration study, Utah-based Nikola Motor Company has already unveiled a hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck that could put current conventional trucks on the road to shame.
Nikola Motors is proud to unveil its Nikola One hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck, which employs a full electric drivetrain as powered by high-density lithium battery pack with 320-kWh of capacity. This large high-capacity battery pack gets its juice from hydrogen fuel cells. Its electric drivetrain could provide more than a thousand ponies and around 2,000 ft. lbs. (2,711 Nm) of torque – which is nearly double the amount that conventional semi-trailer trucks could provide with the powerful diesel engines.
This means that Nikola One could haul heavier loads as needed. In addition, Nikola One’s fuel cell-powered battery pack – a massive one – could contain enough energy to allow the green yet mean semi trailer truck to travel between 800 miles and 1,200 miles (1,287 to 1,931 kilometers), depending on the battery specs and the size of the hydrogen tank. This means that the Nikola One semi-trailer truck is very suitable for long-haul operations, effectively getting rid of the so-called range anxiety common with electrified vehicles. This hydrogen tank can be filled up at any of the planned 364 stations across the United and Canada. These hydrogen refilling stations will be built starting 2018.Read the entire article Pre-orders of Nikola’s 1000hp One hydrogen-powered semi-trailer truck have surpassed $4 billion
Does the future of heavy-duty hauling involve hydrogen cells? Too early to say for now, but it is not impossible. In fact, this possibility is being researched on by one of the pioneers of hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicles in the world – Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor Corp.
Interestingly, Toyota’s first fuel cell vehicle now out in the auto market is called Mirai, which is derived from the Japanese term for “future.” In a sense, the Mirai jumpstarts Toyota’s battle-cry for the future of mobility. The Mirai also expresses the carmaker’s confidence that consumers would accept hydrogen as a clean fuel alternative in the next five years.
The Mirai employs the so-called Toyota Fuel Cell System (TFCS) that boasts of the combination of fuel cell technology and hybrid technology, making use fuel cell (FC) stack, high-pressure hydrogen tanks and FC boost converter. This FCV could be completely refilled with hydrogen in around three minutes and that already allows the Mirai to travel up to a distance of around 300 km or 186 miles.Read the entire article Toyota will launch California study on feasibility of fuel cell-powered semi-trailer trucks

Although this is no ordinary battle, Fifth Gear’s Tiff Needell in collaboration with Volvo created a duel between an FH truck and a Koenigsegg One:1 also known as world’s first megacar as it comes with 1 megawatt of power. As expected, the Volvo FH doesn’t stand a chance in front of the Koenigsegg One:1, but the video wants to showcase the new I-Shift Dual Clutch gearbox found on the truck, which is based on sports car technology.
Just like any dual-clutch gearbox, the I-Shift pre-selects the next gear while running in the current gear. The crazy Tiff Needell wanted to find out if the Konigsegg One:1 is fast enough to lap the racetrack two time before the Volvo FH completes one lap.
Turns out that the Koenigsegg One:1 is indeed one super fast vehicle. If you don’t remember, the One:1 is powered by a 5.0-liter aluminum V8 engine that produces 1,341 hp (986 kW) and 1,371 Nm (1,011 lv-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm.Read the entire article Volvo FH gets I-Shift dual-clutch transmission, challenges Koenigsegg One:1 [w/video]
Mid-size pickups are made to lighter loads than their heavy- and light-duty cousins. But at General Motors, mid-size pickups are being made to bear the load of the carmaker’s truck strategy. GM believes that as the auto industry shift from smaller pickups, customers -- who doesn’t need to carry heavy loads and yet seek the versatility of a truck -- don’t have much options to choose from.
That is where the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon comes in. These GM midsize trucks are expected to surpass the segment’s Nos. 1 and 2 – Toyota Tacoma and Nissan Frontier – in almost every aspect. Based on a recent comparison tests, the Colorado and the Canyon have quieter cabin, smoother powertrain as well as more features.
According to GM, its new midsize trucks feature industry-first fuel saving measures like electric power steering, aluminum hood and knuckles for reduced mass, and grille shutters that close at higher speeds. But GM’s trucks need to prove they are better mid-size pickups; they need to prove they could conquest from their segment rivals as well as capture buyers from other segments like crossovers and full-size trucks.Read the entire article Mid-size pickups on forefront of GM’s truck strategy
At the 2014 International Commercial Vehicle Show (IAA), Daimler brought its spectacular Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 study, a vehicle that previews the long-distance truck of tomorrow. When it comes to design, the concept is absolutely impressive and follows the Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of ‘Sensual Purity’.
The Future Truck 2025 study represents a big step for the current trucks and its design is composed around the star as the central element. Classic elements such as the headlamps are completely missing and were replaced by LEDs that illuminate the front end, while orange flashing lights indicate when the truck is changing directions.
The colour of the other lights changes to blue when the truck is driving autonomously and to white when is being controlled manually. The interior shows a calming design and creates a visual separation between the areas of driving and living. When the truck is on autonomous mode, the driver is able to recline his seat and turn it by 45 degrees into the space in order to adopt a relaxed position.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 previews an exciting future of autonomous driving [w/video]
