Mopar just brought a mammoth at the 2018 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mopar is introducing a new crate engine that is like an elephant from hell. Dubbed as the “Hellephant” 426 Supercharged Mopar Crate Hemi engine, this new powerplant isn't just massive in size, but also in performance.
Hellephant is essentially a brand-new HEMI-engine that borrows its name from the massive land mammal – because of its large size as well as its ability to deliver huge power figures. The Hellephant engine features an all-aluminum block, which made it much lighter than other engines of its size.Read the entire article 2018 SEMA Show: This Hellephant 426 is 1,000-hp Supercharged Mopar Crate Hemi engine
Ram Trucks dropped quite a bomb at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show when it unveiled the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, representing the fifth generation of the light duty pickup truck. Now, the Ram 1500 is making an appearance at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, and this time, the light duty pickup truck is wrapped in Mopar parts and accessories.
A result of a partnership between the Ram Trucks and Mopar brands, a 2019 Ram 1500 modified for outdoor sports is making an appearance in Chicago. These Mopar products include certain parts that enhance the truck’s off-rood capability as well as numerous storage systems, parts and accessories. Believe it or not, Mopar has been a part of the automotive world for 80 years. Yes, Mopar is celebrating its 80 years of existence this 2017, and as part of the celebrations the original equipment manufacturer for Chrysler (now Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is launching the Mopar ‘17 Dodge Challenger limited edition vehicle.
As you may have guessed, this limited edition is derived from the 2017 Dodge Challenger. It may not be as hellish as the Challenger SRT Hellcat or as devilish as the upcoming Challenger SRT Demon, but the Mopar ‘17 Dodge Challenger is something to be excited about. It is more civil than its hot siblings, but it is quite special as it celebrates the brand’s 80th anniversary. Its limited status rises by the fact that Mopar is planning to create only 160 examples – 80 for each of the two color schemes of the Mopar ‘17 Dodge Challenger. It will be the brand’s eighth limited-edition Mopar-modified vehicle since 2010.
Thanks to the Mopar Custom Shop, the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger received two-tone exterior coloring schemes. The first one pairs Pitch Black with Contusion Blue, while the second scheme matches Pitch Black with Billet Silver. The Pitch Black tone dominates the upper portion of the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger, starting from the grille to the bonnet, and from roof to the rear decklid spoiler. Of course, these parts are courtesy of Mopar like the Shaker Hood package and the Shaker Hood scoop surround. In addition, the Mopar Design badge on the spoiler is specified to be black-on-black. Moreover, a special Mopar 392 logo is hand-painted on the lower portion of the Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger.Read the entire article Mopar celebrates 80 years with the 2017 Dodge Challenger Limited Edition
While we may want the best engine for our cars, the reality is that not every engine is suitable for every vehicle. However, there are adapter kits, like the ones being offered by Mopar. Thus, for those who own an old muscle car but want to fit in a Hemi engine, then Mopar’s offering is the one for you.
This offering is not surprising considering that the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show has always been an event where everyone can display some interesting ideas and this year is no different. Thus when FCA revealed some models way ahead of the 2016 SEMA Show, Chrysler knew that it needed to show as well what the Mopar brand has been doing. For this year’s show, Mopar came up with six different concepts: a Jeep, a minivan, two RAM models, and two Dodge models.
For the crate engine being offered, all that’s needed is to get a Hemi 345, which is a 5.7-liter unit, or the 392, a 6.4-liter version. However the engines should have a make of at least 2014 for the kit to work. After that, all that’s needed is to get Mopar’s latest adapter kit and you can easily slot in the engines mentioned to any vehicles having a make lower than 1975. As such, this can include a Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challenger, or a Dodge Charger, to name a few.Read the entire article Mopar shows off Hemi engine kit at 2016 SEMA Show

Alloy Edition matches its Gloss Black accents and daylight opening (DLO) moldings with bigger 19-inch Dark Bronze aluminum wheels while emphasizing its sport-tuned suspension for a sportier industrial look. Another unique feature of the model is the Dark Bronze "200S" emblem on the rear decklid.Read the entire article 2016 Chrysler 200S Alloy Edition: A Blend of Style and Timelessness

The KrawLer has rock crawling capabilities to tackle harsh off-road challenges. Its name features the capital “K” and “L,” referring to the KL code used to indicate the Cherokee nameplate. Mopar further raised the ride of the KrawLer to suit it for extreme off-road driving.Read the entire article Mopar displays three modified Jeep models at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show
Car manufacturers are forced to engage in an incentive war as midsize car sales continue to drop, according to Chrysler brand head Al Gardner. As a result, profits are declining in this 16-vehicle segment, which includes the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion. This affects even the redesigned models. During the first half of 2015, the midsize car segment posted 3.4% lower sales than the year-ago period.
Meanwhile, midsize crossover sales have grown by 3.6% and midsize SUV sales have gone up by 23%. Gardner said that because of competition woes, no car company will be able to meet profit targets. Sales of the Chrysler 200 in the first half of the year have more than doubled. However, it is being compared to last year’s first half when the previous model was in the sell-down period.
Gardner explained that if the segment is down, everybody strives to increase their share and this makes them throw big incentives at potential customers. He said that he doesn’t expect to lose money on the Chrysler 200 but the rest of the segment is pressured to raise incentives when a new car such as the Hyundai Sonata is immediately priced with low APR and cash on the hood.Read the entire article Chrysler thinks 200 sedan will sell well despite rivals’ big incentives
The 2015 Dodge Charger a.k.a. world’s only four-door muscle car received a new set of Mopar parts and accessories and became the Charger R/T Mopar Concept prior to the 2014 SEMA Show. According to Dodge, the vehicle you see in the photo received a new front splitter, new Mopar side sills and unique Mopar exhaust tips. Moreover, the rear end features a one-piece rear spoiler for better downforce and a more aerodynamic rear profile.
Furthermore, the Charger R/T Concept is finished in TorRed exterior paint, complemented by the gloss black roof and by the forged Mopar lightweight 20-inch wheels featuring a Granite Crystal low gloss finish.
The 5.0-liter HEMI V8 engine found under the hood received a Mopar cold air intake but the company didn’t give us any details regarding the total output. However, we do know that the standard engine delivers 370 hp and 536 Nm (395 lb-ft) of torque, which means that more power means some impressive performance figures.Read the entire article Dodge Charger R/T Mopar Concept previewed before the 2014 SEMA Show
Chrysler's Mopar brand has partnered with 3M to offer customizable map decals for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler or Cherokee. Interested customers could just visit mopar.com/jeephoods where they could design a map that will be installed by a dealer on the hood of their vehicles. The $295 decals can be customized for any location in North America and can show either topography or a street map.
The map emanated from a one-time Jeep that Mopar developed earlier in 2014 and unveiled at the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. Pietro Gorlier, global head of the Mopar parts and service brand, remarked that the Jeep featured a topographical map of a famous off-road trail at Moab and was a big hit among enthusiasts at the safari.
Convinced that the map decals would create interest, Gorlier called his supplier, 3M. In collaboration with 3M, Mopar engineers created a system that allows customers to create their own individual maps, have them printed and delivered to dealers where they will be installed.Read the entire article Mopar and 3M create customized map decals for Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler and Cherokee
Some 2015 Jeep Cherokees and Chrysler 200s will feature engine stop-start as a standard starting later this year. Chrysler Group will feature the technology as standard on the 3.2-liter V-6 versions of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee when it starts building them in the third quarter of this year. The carmaker will also feature the technology in its 2.4-liter inline-four versions of the 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan starting fourth quarter of 2014.
Stop start saves fuel by shutting off the engine when the vehicle brakes to a stop, then restarting it when the driver release his foot from the brake pedal. Chrysler remarked that the addition of stop-start to the Ram 1500 pickup lead to a 1-mpg hike in its city fuel economy rating.
On the other hand, the most fuel-efficient version of the Cherokee receiving the stop-start technology is rated 19 mpg city while the most fuel-efficient Chrysler 200 to get the feature is rated at 23 mpg city.Read the entire article Stop-start tech will be standard in some 2015 Jeep Cherokees and Chrysler 200s

The redesigned 2015 Chrysler 200 is good enough to replace its predecessor and the Dodge Avenger, executives at Chrysler Group believe. They are also confident that the new 200 could still gain in the already crowded mid-sized sedan segment. In 2013, Chrysler sold 122,480 units of the 200 and 93,842 units of the Avenger. Chrysler plans the new 200 to at least match the combined sales of its two predecessors. The vehicle is underpinned by a Fiat-derived platform – the CUSW – that also underpins the Dodge Dart and Jeep Cherokee.
It also shares many parts with them. The new base LX model has a starting price of $22,695 and is powered by a 184-hp 2.4-liter inline-four. Up on the trim level is the Limited that has a starting price of $24,250.
Prices include shipping. For those wanting to avail of leather seats and Chrysler’s 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system, they could avail of the S trim level, which has a starting price of $25,490, including shipping.Read the entire article 2015 Chrysler 200 is good enough to replace its predecessor, execs say
The number of Jeep dealerships requesting pre-equipping their offerings with Mopar accessories before they arrive at their showrooms is growing. Instead of going straight to dealerships, Tens of thousands of Jeep Wranglers, Cherokees and Grand Cherokees as well as some Dodge Durangos take a detour to a an industrial building located a few blocks from Chrysler’s Toledo Assembly complex where workers add dealer-ordered Mopar accessories like Katzkin leather seat covers, tubular sidesteps or custom hood appliques.
"It's a big incentive to have the car on display with the accessories already on," Pietro Gorlier, head of Chrysler's Mopar brand, told Automotive News. "It's very tough to sell accessories based on a display. It's much easier when you can see the accessory on a car." Mopar and dealers have adopted this accessory strategy to boost revenues and margins.
Since the costs of the accessories can be included in the vehicle's sticker price, it would be easier for customers to finance the items. Since 2011, Mopar has added eight such customization shops near its assembly site in North America. Last year, the custom shops added accessories to nearly 150,000 new Chrysler vehicles.Read the entire article Mopar-fitted vehicles gaining popularity among Jeep dealers
Mopar is currently conducting an experimental quick-stop service operation separate from the dealership that allows Chrysler customers to avail of basic maintenance services like oil changes and battery sales without having to set an appointment. The Express Lane experiment should show Chrysler dealers how they could improve service profits and hire promising technicians for their dealerships, according to Mopar. About a third of the Chrysler's 2,400 dealerships have Express Lane in their service departments. Only one dealership -- Freedom Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram in Duncanville, Texas -- has opened an Express Lane site that isn't physically linked to it.
According to Pietro Gorlier, global head of Mopar, the experiment in Duncanville – which features a four-bay stand-alone Express Lane center – targets to determine if dealerships can compete better with independents by offering the service. “The dealers are surrounded. There are an average of 37 independents around each of our dealers in the United States," Gorlier remarked.
Chrysler dealerships that have installed Express Lane in their service departments managed to sell more parts and write more repair orders than those without, Gorlier said. However, once stand-alone service areas become too busy, the Express Lane concept would be overwhelmed with longer wait times – resulting to a degradation of a dealership's appeal.Read the entire article Mopar expects Express Lane experiment to cut wait times

Mopar will have a 5,500 sq. ft. of exhibit space at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, the largest exhibit ever by the Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand. The exhibit will showcase the new Mopar Custom Shop in the Mopar Garage. Mopar launched the Garage at the 2013 edition of the show. The exhibit at this year’s show will feature a 2014 Dodge Challenger, SRT Viper, Fiat 500L Thalassa, Jeep Wrangler Recon, Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver and Ram 3500 Dually CASE work truck. According to Mopar president and chief executive Pietro Gorlier, the new Custom Shop will show how customers of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat can customize their vehicles before taking delivery.
With Mopar's parts-and-accessories catalog growing significantly every year, Gorlier said that customers can choose everything from electronic-tracking systems to in-vehicle wireless charging to racing stripes and bed-liners. Everything in the Custom Shop is factory-installed and is covered by the original warranty.
Likewise, the modifications will be included on the window sticker, allowing customers to include them in the financing.
