Everyone, meet the new presidential car. Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed the latest DS 7 Crossback as his official car during the recent inauguration. It was barely a couple of months ago since Groupe PSA introduced the new crossover but it wasn’t until the parade that the public finally saw what the new crossover looks like. Otherwise known as Distinctive Series/Different Spirit, the DS marque actually had been Citroen’s sub brand from 2009 until it became an independent brand in 2014. No matter how deeply rooted DS Cars are with Citroen models, it is worth noting that these two have very distinct qualities when it comes to manufacturing and engineering.
The presidential car certainly has more special features than any regular unit ever built by the premium car brand. Apart from the soft top roof cover, the custom designed SUV comes with a flag holder on one side. Atelier Maury meanwhile designed its Black leather interior which matches the Ink Blue exterior paint perfectly. To complete the premium look, the presidential SUV comes equipped with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels in two tone finish plus gold detailing.
Despite the lack of details about its powertrain, the French automaker assures that the presidential car has all the latest technologies similar to the upcoming production version. Two years after Citroën revealed the Aircross Concept at the 2015 Auto Shanghai in China, the production model will then be introduced at the same event this week. Love it or hate it, the C5 Aircross will be having the same eccentric exterior just like the C4 Cactus, except the Aircross will be having a much larger body measuring at 4.5 meters long, 1.84 meters wide, and 1.67 meters tall.
Citroën released a couple of videos online to put emphasis on the “Progressive Hydraulic Cushions” as this is one of the highlights of the SUV - in fact, the all-new suspension benefits from this.
Both damping quality and ride comfort have both been improved with this technology. The two hydraulic stops are for rebound and compression, creating a two-step suspension. PSA/Peugeot-Citroen launched the Citroen C3-XR in China and the manufacturer announced that its crossover is priced from 110,000 yuan or $18,000. The C3-XR is company’s fourth SUV built in China and the bad news is that it will only be sold in world’s biggest auto market.
According to PSA, the C4 Cactus is a better offer for European market and the C3-XR was designed exclusively for China. The vehicle will be available with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine that generates 160 hp, bolted to a 6-speed automatic transmission which sends the power to the front wheels.
The crossover has a length of 4260 mm, a width of 1790 mm, while the height is 1560 mm. Citroen’s C3-XR will be built at the Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile, a 50-50 joint venture between Dongfeng and PSA. Citroen introduced its new C3-XR earlier this month and announced that its new crossover will hit the dealerships in December. Despite the facet that the styling of the C3-XR looks pretty good and we are sure that it will perfectly fit the European market, Citroen says that this model will be available only in China.
According to Citroen CEO Linda Jackson, the new Citroen C3-XR was developed especially for Chinese customers who are looking for plenty of interior space, automatic transmissions as well as larger overall designs.

Today, Citroen unveiled the C3-XR a.k.a. the production version of the C-XR Concept, which looks almost identical to the vehicle we saw at the Auto China 2014. Set to go on sale in December, the 2015 Citroen C-XR comes equipped with the latest technologies such as keyless entry and starting, rear-view camera, grip control and connectivity via the Citroen telematics services.

Citroen officially unveiled the 2014 C-Cactus, a new crossover that promises to deliver a futuristic blend of form, function & low running costs. Clearly inspired by the Citroen Cactus Concept unveiled back in 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new vehicle introduces the Airbump, an exclusive technology available only at Citroen.
Airbump is fitted to the sides of the car and bumpers, this technology adds a graphic structure and is available in four colours: Black, Grey, Dune & Chocolate. These colours can be matched with the ten body colours and three choices of interior trim (Sone Grey Ambiance, Habana Highlight & Purple Highlight). Citroen says that the C4 Cactus has a length of 4.16 m, a width of 1.73 m and a height of 1.48 m, while the wheelbase has a length of 2.60 m.
Citroen says that the C4 Cactus is 200 kg lighter than the Citroen C4. Citroen's new C4 Cactus model -- the first car in Citroen's new C-Line range – will go on sale in 2014. Among its highlights are protective body cladding and sofa-style front seating. With this range, Citroen hopes that its mainstream cars will earn a reputation as affordable cars that are practical, frugal, and can be owned with low costs.
The Cactus Concept displayed at the Frankfurt Auto Show last September featured protective cladding on the doors, referred to as Airbumps, as well as with a sofa-style front bench. Inside the Airbumps are air capsules meant to resist scratches and lessen damage from small impacts. Brand executives said that this feature saves owners the cost of repairing the body.
According to Frederic Duvernier, the external designer of the Cactus concept, the feature will be seen on the production car that’s due to start selling in the middle of 2014. He told Automotive News Europe that the Airbumps uses a material that’s highly durable and resistant, comparable to the material on the sole of a Nike Air shoe. Volkswagen is introducing its smallest sports utility vehicle so far, this further expanding its SUV lineup. With the new and tiny Volkswagen T-Cross, the German carmaker is taking advantage of the continued growing demand for SUVs, whether large or small.
With a styling that makes it appear like a smaller brother of the Volkswagen T-Roc, the new VW T-Cross is underpinned by the A0 version of the VW Group’s MQB platform. This is the same platform that underpins other models in the VW Group such as the VW Polo and Audi A1 as well as the SEAT Ibiza and SEAT Arona crossover.
The compact nature of the new VW T-Cross is wrapped in its small dimensions. It boasts of a length of just 161.8 inches (4.11 meters), making nearly as long as the Nissan Juke small crossover. Inside, the new VW T-Cross can accommodate between 13.6 cubic feet (385 liters) to 16.07 cubic feet (455 liters) of cargo, depending on the position of the rear seats. These rear seats can slide 5.5 inches (14 cm), thereby increasing or reducing the available cargo space. When the rear seats are folded down, the cargo space offered by the VW T-Cross increases to 45.24 cubic feet (1,281 liters). BMW M GmbH is getting things all hyped up leading to the impending launch of its BMW X3 M sports activity vehicle and the BMW X4 M sports activity coupe. In an effort to make things more excited and make prospective customers think more about the new X3 M and X4 M, BMW has decided to let the public view their respective prototypes as they tackled the Nurburgring.
BMW’s high performance unit calls the event as the first official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M. However, the event can’t be called an official unveiling, the as both M versions of the X3 and X4 were both heavily camouflaged, and BMW M didn’t really provide more details – especially their actual specs – about these new high performance models. Indeed, a presentation is really the most appropriate word to describe the event.
The official presentation of the new BMW X3 M and BMW X4 M, which series development has already been kicked off, took place during the DTM racing weekend at the Nrburgring (September 7 to 9, 2018). During the official presentation, BMW M had prototypes of the BMW X3 M and the BMW X4 M test driven on the circuit. Italian carmaker Fiat is introducing the facelifted iteration of its compact crossover – the 2019 Fiat 500X. The latest iteration of the 500X comes with some changes on the exterior, including the fitment of new LED light clusters. It also boasts of a restyled interior, new engines and a number of new technologies onboard.
For the 2019 model, the new 500X Urban comes with all-new front and rear bumper design that helps reassert its urban personality. The Cross and City Cross versions, on the other hand, feature new-look protective skid plates, conveying their capability to tackle out-of-town trips.
Also bringing new drama to the design of the new 500X are its new LED light cluster. At the International Electric Vehicle Expo in South Korea, Kia revealed the highly anticipated Kia Niro EV together with the the Niro Plug-In Hybrid and Soul EV. Aside from the reveal of the production version of the pure electric crossover, the automaker also gave us information on this soon to be available electric CUV.
Similar to the Hyundai Kona EV’s offerings, the electric Niro will be offered with two different battery options: a 39.2 kilowatt hour version and a 64 kilowatt hour version. Take note though that only the beefier version will be offered in the United States. According to Kia, the smaller battery will have a range of 149 miles per charge, while the bigger one is claimed to have 236 miles. The similar Hyundai Kona may be a little smaller, but it can go a little further per charge.

For the longest time, the Skoda Yeti was the only crossover model that the automaker offered to the market. However, that particular model did not really live up to its body style because it became known as an eccentric but adorable tall and rugged hatchback. After the Yeti, Skoda decided to offer a much larger seven-passenger Kodiaq that came in the second half of 2016.
This was then followed by the smaller five seat only Karoq in 2017, which was meant to replace the Yeti. In 2018, Skoda finally decided to add the Kamiq into their portfolio. However, the said model will only be exclusively sold in China, unlike its older siblings that were made available all over the world.
Without having to mention this, the city oriented crossover will be positioned just below the Karoq that we mentioned earlier. This also rounds off Skoda’s three model crossover lineup that is being offered in China. When it comes to the design elements, there isn’t much for us to say because it looks pretty similar to the other two “K” models. It seems like the Hyundai Tucson will be expanding its range because the automaker is said to give the SUV a new Sport trim that will be equipped with a 2.4 liter four cylinder with 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) and 175 pound feet (237 Newton metres) of torque that starts at 4,000 rpm, together with a six speed automatic. This powertrain will be available in either a front wheel- or an all wheel-drive layout.
Naturally, the 2.4 liter powerplant will carry out a little more output than the current 1.6 turbocharged four cylinder engine with only 175 horsepower (131 kilowatts) and 195 pound feet (264 Newton metres). This particular engine came with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
If you know about the Tucson lineup, the Sport trim is allocated between the SEL trim and the SEL Plus. The Sport trim comes with all of the SEL’s features - from the power driver’s seat, heated front seats, fog lights, and blind spot monitoring. The ever growing compact luxury crossover segment has something new for us again, as Lexus revealed the production ready UX at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Physically, it may not be as flamboyant as its namesake from 2016, but it will definitely still stand out in a crowd of compact crossovers.
Lexus UX has a huge corporate spindle grille that will truly catch one’s attention on the road. It also features full width taillights that make it look unique. In fact, this has been fitted by at least 120 individual LEDs. It sits on a set of either 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels that were specially made for the crossover. This has also been tweaked in the wind tunnel to improve airflow.
The UX isn’t just about its good looks. Instead, it rides on the company’s newest GA-C platform, which makes handling much easier. As for the car’s dimensions, it is 177 inches (about 4.5 metres) long, with a 103.9 inch (2.63 metre) wheelbase. The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is ready to hit the market with its new look and its zero emissions package. For them to be able to cater to a wider market, the automaker decided that they would offer the Kona with two powertrains, with different outputs, ranges, and prices.
For instance, the base model features an electric motor that offers 133 horsepower (99 kilowatts) and 291 pound feet (395 Newton metres) of torque. This one comes equipped with a small 39.2 kWh battery pack that could offer a maximum range of 300 kilometers (186 miles) in the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles test procedure (WLTP). This procedure is supposedly more relevant than the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Meanwhile, the top of the range Kona Electric was given as much as 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) but with the same torque as the base model. We could sense that Volkswagen has some big plans for the new T-Roc compact SUV. In fact, on February 23, they announced that a cabriolet version is on its way to be produced in 2020. It will essentially be a convertible version of a new SUV that has not been established in the market.
A lot of us were actually surprised at the fact that Volkswagen announced this and the fact that they are coming out with a model that has a non-existent history of open roof crossovers.
Having said that, nothing is stopping the automaker from investing €80 million to bring the drop top T Roc to production. In the United States, that’s more or less $100 million. And this money will go the company’s Osnabrück plant where the convertible crossover will be produced. Since the Audi SQ5 first came out, Bavarian tuner did nothing but think up different scenarios for this hot crossover. ABT Sportsline has been offering various upgrade packages for the latest generation. The aftermarket tuners are also revising the temporary top dog in the Q5 family with a wide array of upgrades for customers who cannot wait any longer for the Audi Sport to come out with the RS Q5.
When looking at it from the exterior, ABT gave the Audi SQ5 a new and more aggressive body kit that is wider than the original. They say that the SQ5 looks even more dominant in the rearview mirror after this upgrade. In fact, we would say that it is quite a comprehensive package with those wide hips granted by the fender extensions, together with a new front skirt and muscular side skirts that will definitely catch your attention.
Moving on to the rear, the ABT then gave the SQ5 a newly developed exhaust system with real tips covered in carbon that’s now in place of the decorative chrome housings of the standard model. It is only a little over a month away until the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, where Lexus is reported to unveil the small crossover, UX. And yet, we still have not seen any spy shots of it until now. Back in 2016, it was previewed at the Paris Motor Show by a namesake concept, as a competitor of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
But whether or not we will see the model in Geneva in a few weeks or not, the UX will be the model to take the place of the CT 200h in the United States, and it will actually stand as the entry level model from Lexus.
The automaker has actually already taken measures to register the UX200, UX250, and UX 250h with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It doesn’t guarantee anything yet but it likely means that there is a good chance it will sooner or later land in U.S. shores. Sales of crossovers and SUVs in this country add up to about 60 percent of the company’s sales. Infiniti will commence sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50 in the spring, with a starting price of $36,550. But before the big launch, Infiniti has introduced a new reservation program that will allow customers to rack up luxurious rewards. But this pre-launch reservation rewards program isn't just about making customers happy, but also about increasing the hype and sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50.
Designed to rack up more reservations, the pre-launch reservation rewards program for the 2019 QX50 is divided into three tiers. Once a tier is unlocked by reaching a certain number of reservations, it opens up certain luxury rewards for customers. Unlocking the second tier and the third tier means upgraded luxury gifts for customers.
The first tier unlocks when the luxury carmaker receives more than 4,000 reservations. This was easily reached, and according to Infiniti USA’s Web site, the luxury carmaker has already taken 8,032 reservations (as of this writing). This meant that the second tier of luxury rewards has already been unlocked at 8,000 reservations. Chinese brand Byton officially unveiled the production version of its Byton Concept during the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas. With this, the brand hopes to soon enter the U.S. market.
For those unfamiliar with the company, Byton was launched as a new brand of China-based Future Mobility Corp. last year. Its current CEO is Carsten Breitfeld, who was previously the i vehicle program lead of BMW.
The production version presented during the 2018 CES shows an exterior that has been styled with subtle design cues that give one the impression of being inspired by Land Rover and Nissan. The interior however is a different story. While most standard models have an infotainment and instrument cluster, Byton’s offering instead has a single-pane that goes through the whole length of its dashboard. Mounted on the center of the steering is an 8-inch tablet.
