Citroën has rolled its 200,000th DS3 off the production line at its Poissy plant in France. The 200,000th DS3 represented a significant milestone for the success of the model, which was the eldest among the DS family. Citroën introduced the DS3 in Europe and Russia in 2010 and in Argentina in 2011. The French carmaker then introduced the DS3 in Brazil in the first half of 2012 and in China in the later half.
Aside from the main DS3 range, Citroën also built a number of successful DS3 special editions, which included the dynamic DS3 Racing; the stylish DS3 by Orla Kiely and the high-end DS3 Ultra Prestige. Citroën Racing is continuing to reap success in the DS3 WRC, giving the car a more reputable name.

Citroën Racing is introducing one of its newest models, the DS3 RRC, which is closely derived from the double World Rally Championship-winning car, DS3 WRC. The DS3 RRC is developed and designed to suit private drivers and could be used in a wide range of competitions like the WRC- 2 (formerly S-WRC), European Rally Championship (ERC), Middle East Rally Championship (MERC).
Starting in 2011, the new FIA World Rally Cars regulations allow carmakers to produce a Regional Rally Car (RRC) version of their models, which are intended for use in championships below the level of the WRC. The World Rally Championship-winning car in 2011 and 2012, the Citroën DS3 WRC now has its own RRC variant. The two racing models are virtually different since the regulations are more restrictive when it comes to aerodynamic features on the RRC.
For instance, the bumper intakes are smaller and the rear spoiler complies with the S2000 standards. The 1.6-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine for the RRC version was slightly modified, with a specific engine flywheel and a 30mm booster flange, compared with 33mm on the WRC. This only limits the RRC to a maximum power output of up to 275bhp.Read the entire article Citroën Racing unveils Regional Rally Car version of DS3 WRC

The cabriolet version of the Citroen DS3 that will be seen at the upcoming Paris Motor Show will feature a roll-back fabric roof rather than a conventional electric folding cloth top. The new roof is the same one used on the Fiat 500C. Last July, DS3 Cabriolets were spied while being loaded on a car transporter.
This exclusive image is indicative of how the production car will appear, according to the pictures and from sources inside Citroen.
The supermini’s roof bars are kept in place while the roof mechanism will concertina back and is positioned above the tailgate. This suggests that the windows will remain where they are and its main body structure won’t need to get major modifications.Read the entire article Citroen to unveil the DS3 Cabrio at the 2012 Paris Motor Show
Citroen has rolled out its DS3 subcompact in Brazil as part of PSA/Peugeot-Citroen's aim to cut the carmaker’s reliance on the sluggish European market. Citroen’s latest move is part of PSA’s plan to sell half its vehicles outside Europe by 2015. The carmaker currently sells only 35 percent of its models outside the continent.
Ian Fletcher, an analyst for IHS Global Insight, remarked that the introduction of the Citroen DS3 in Brazil will allow the carmaker to gain higher margins as well as increase its chunk of the South American market. He added that the DS line could be the best way for PSA to raise its profile in Brazil and South America as it complements its lower-cost Citroen and Peugeot models.
Initially, Citroen plans to export the DS cars from France to Brazil, but the carmaker will eventually build the DS in South America, a company spokesman told Automotive News Europe. PSA currently operates a factory in Brazil in Porto Real. The plant, which could produce up to 160,000 units a year, currently builds the Peugeot 207 and the Citroën C3 and Xsara Picasso.Read the entire article Citroen launches DS3 model in Brazil to cut reliance in European market

Superchips Ltd. has created a tuning package for Citroën’s special edition 204 bhp DS3 Racing. The electronic tuning experts worked to boost the model’s performance even more. The DS3 Racing gets an ECU remap that significantly enhances the performance so that those who drive Citroën’s current flagship model get the best experience.
Superchips’ engineers studied the DS3 Racing’s Bosch MED 17 ECU and did some intense dyno and real world road testing so that the Superchips remap improves the performance but doesn’t lessen its reliability.
After Superchips conducted an in-house dyno testing of the Citroën DS3 Racing, it found that the ECU conversion delivers a maximum power increase of 26 bhp at 6312 rpm. The Superchips upgrade raises the rev range of the DS3 Racing’s 1.6-litre, direct injection, twin-scroll turbocharged engine, from 2000 rpm to the 6750 rpm limiter.Read the entire article 2011 Citroen DS3 by Superchips
Citroen’s new model, which has the tentative name of DS3 Airflow, had been expected to arrive in 2012 but the latest reports say that it will come in 2013. It’s still unclear if it should be categorized as a convertible, a cabriolet, a semi-convertible or even as a semi-cabriolet. Autoweek.nl reported that this car will receive a Fiat 500C-like architecture, which includes a retractable fabric roof panel that will keep the pillars and door frames.
Many have commented that Citroen is merely following the lead of the Fiat 500C. However, it can’t be denied that Citroen already has the expertise to build a car of this caliber.
Citroen has proven this when it produced the C3 Pluriel between 2003 and 2010. Citroen achieved sales of more than 110,000 units from this model. When compared to a convertible, the advantages of the DS3 Airflow include the open-air experience with excellent handling that come with a decrease in development costs.Read the entire article Citroen DS3 Airflow coming in 2013, will take on the Fiat 500C
