The global automotive market is dominated by several major players from Japan, Europe and the United States. Some companies from South Korea and India are also major players in the automotive world. In the recent years, a few automakers from China are making some noise. How about a carmaker from Vietnam?
Here comes VinFast, a virtually unknown carmaker – at least in the global scene --- based in Ha Noi, Vietnam. Seeing itself as brand for Vietnamese cars, VinFast is a part of the VinGroup, a $10-billion conglomerate in Vietnam that is involve in operating shopping malls, resorts, spas, hospitals and schools as well as apartment complexes in the country. Led by 50-year richest man in Vietnam, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, VinGroup is venturing into industrial manufacturing through VinFast.
As part of its plan, VinFast will initially focus on the Vietnamese market, as the country’s GDP growth is expected to grow between six to seven percent annually. Then, the Vietnamese carmaker will set its eyes on other markets, especially in Southeast Asia.Read the entire article Vietnamese carmaker VinFast gains traction as two models to debut at 2018 Paris Motor Show
Many automakers have been ditching the idea of attending motor shows, probably because they realised that they will reach more people while spending less money on just organising their own events, or by publishing their news on social media. So, are automotive shows dying or evolving? Well, even if Lamborghini will not be joining the 2018 Paris Motor Show this October, just like its parent company Volkswagen, these shows will still continue.
This year is not the first time Lamborghini skipped Paris - a biennial auto show that alternates with Frankfurt. Back in 2016, both Lamborghini and Bentley did not attend the Paris show, as well as Aston Martin, Ford, Volvo, and Rolls-Royce. Lately, automakers have been reassessing the value of auto shows. As mentioned earlier, automakers like Volvo are realising that it would be better to organise their own events than to shell out millions of dollars to get press coverage at an auto show.
But then again, it doesn’t mean that Lamborghini or Volkswagen will totally be absent in Paris. And this is because they will likely organise their own events in the city during the exhibition.Read the entire article Lamborghini is 10th automaker to confirm absence at 2018 Paris Motor Show
The automotive industry has been choosing online shows and private debuts over huge annual car shows. These shows instantly cost automakers millions, and that is why car companies have decided to entirely let go of these. The most recent news we heard was from Lamborghini, when they said that they would be skipping the 2018 Paris Motor Show, along with BMW and Mercedes Benz. Now, another large auto group, with three of its core brands, plan to do the same.
To name them, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep, will not be attending this year’s Paris Motor Show, according to website, AutoPlus France. This is also the first time that the three car brands will be ditching a major show, and Fiat explains that it is because auto shows are no longer a must do part of its ongoing strategy. Even though the three main brands will not be in attendance, its mainstream luxury marque, Maserati, will be there together with Ferrari.
This isn’t really shocking news to anyone, as we have been hearing the same thing pretty much during the first half of the year. Other automakers that will be skipping the show in Paris include: Ford, Mazda, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, Opel, Subaru, Nissan and Volvo. In contrary to that, automakers that will join the show are Kia, Citroen, Jaguar, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Lexus, Peugeot, Smart, Suzuki and Toyota, meanwhile have committed to Paris for 2018.Read the entire article Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep are ditching the 2018 Paris Motor Show
As we get closer to the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the list of automakers that will attend the upcoming show is getting shorter. Volkswagen had just announced that they have decided to just skip the show that will take place in the City of Light, an event that takes place every other year. The Paris show alternates with the Frankfurt Motor Show. This news was revealed to us by France-based Autoactu.com. This was further confirmed by VW’s local French branch.
The German brand has doubts on whether it will be beneficial and relevant for them to attend international auto shows. But then, VW said that even if they will not attend the show in France, they will likely organize various actions like test drives in the city during the event. In addition, VW is analyzing prospects of organizing its own events for new car launches, which is something many automakers like Volvo have been practicing for quite some time now. One of the reasons for this could be because participating in these events could be very costly, and they don’t have as much reach compared to that of social media.
Despite the fact that VW will not attend the show, the group’s other brands, including the Skoda, SEAT, Audi and Porsche are said to make their way there. Right now, we do not have the complete details whether the Bentley and Bugatti marques will be there as well. The high end British marque from Crewe is said to work on a couple of new models such as the Continental GTC and the Flying Spur. We would not be surprised if such brands will participate and unveil new products.Read the entire article VW will not be attending the 2018 Paris Motor Show
Renault’s fourth generation Clio model has been around since 2012. In fact, it is one of the oldest supermini cars in its segment. But later on this year, the automaker will finally introduce the fifth generation of the said model.

When a car has been in the market for nearly six years, it loses some of its luster and its customers tend to go for the all-new model with a whole new level of features offerings instead. Good thing the South Korean carmaker isn’t ignorant of the fact that the second generation of its Kia Picanto small car is nearing the end of its life cycle.
This is why for the model year 2017, Kia will be releasing the new and third generation of the Kia Picanto small car. The Picanto has been repeatedly spied, although it was in its camouflage form in a bid to conceal its new looks. As planned, the South Korean carmaker will unveil the all-new 2017 Kia Picanto in the early part of next year. But before that, Kia has released a set of images providing a better view of the 2017 Picanto small car.
According to Kia, the new Picanto is a fusion of a youthful and energetic new exterior as well as interior design. Moreover, the new Kia Picanto offers customers the chance to personalize their rides when it comes to both the exterior and the interior. Kia added that the new Picanto now boasts of a more assertive stance thanks to its bolder body lines and a wide array of exterior colors to choose from.Read the entire article Kia teases its next-generation 2017 Picanto with rendered images
Nearly two weeks after teasing us with two rendered illustrations of the next generation of the Kia Picanto small car, the South Korean carmaker has released official images of the new vehicle.
The teaser images released in December provided us some good ideas on how the next gen PIcanto would look like. Those images worked as they should be, teasing us and telling us the third generation of the Picanto looks more aggressive and sportier than the current generation small car from Kia.
Now, Kia has released more images with clearer renditions of the upcoming third-gen Picanto. Unlike the initial teaser images, these new ones present both the exterior and interior appearances of the new Picanto. If there are any differences between the first images and the new ones, it is that the third-gen white Kia Picanto – in GT-Line specs -- on the recent renditions doesn’t look as mean and as aggressive as the black version on the initial renders. Well, this could be because of the differences in the color of the small cars, the angling of the renders and the background used. Nevertheless, the third-gen Picanto has a more aggressive stance and bolder lines than the current generation.Read the entire article Here are the official images of third-generation Kia Picanto
Recently, Ferrari has been on a more fuel-efficient route. For some, it may seem like this downsizing trend is keeping Ferrari from all the winning streaks it should be making at the racetrack but it too has some economic advantages considering the increasing gasoline prices.
The LaFerrari has been one of the first to be subjected to engine modifications thus adopting an energy recovery-based system that was first introduced on the HY-KERS concept car. The rest of the Ferrari range has also been subjected to engine modifications with most of the gang adopting turbochargers in the process.
This year, Ferrari will continue its downsizing trend and will be working on the GTC4Lusso T. The GTC4Lusso T will be the first four-passenger Ferrari to undergo this transformation. The “T” in its model name signifies that it is a lower-spec version of the turbocharged V12-engined GTC4 Lusso.Read the entire article Ferrari takes the fuel-efficient route with the GTC4Lusso T
