Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said that Infiniti is planning to develop a compact car that will be based on a small-car platform from Mercedes-Benz. Ghosn told reporters at the Frankfurt Motor Show that this new model is the product of the expanded cooperation between Daimler and the Renault-Nissan alliance.
There are rumors that this car will be produced in Europe where it will rival the Audi A3 and BMW 1 series. However, Nissan has yet to address these rumors.
In an Bloomberg interview, Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer said that there’s no rule that production of Infiniti cars is only done in Japan.Read the entire article Infiniti to build a compact car based on a small-car platform from Mercedes-Benz
Infiniti is entering the premium small car market that has previously been penetrated by rival Lexus. Of course this market continues to be dominated by the Audi A3 and BMW 1-Series. Meanwhile, it is predicted that sales of compact hatchbacks from upmarket brands will take away somewhat from those of larger saloons such as the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series in 2010.
Toru Saito, the head of Infiniti, said that the company is aware of the downsizing trend and that it is considering the smaller car category. At the start of next year, Lexus will enter the small hatch class with the hybrid CT 200h.
Infiniti, the premium car arm of Nissan, has revealed plans to produce a small all-electric car, which is likely to be based on the underpinnings of the Nissan Leaf. However, a conventional-engined small Infiniti is probable as well.Read the entire article More details about Infiniti’s compact electric vehicle
Nissan Motor Co. has ambitious goals for its first hybrid car. It has set a goal to nearly double its mileage compared to the gasoline engine version. It also aims to cut costs using a simple, single-motor system.
Later this year, Nissan is expected to launch the Fuga, a gasoline-electric Infiniti M sedan, in Japan. It lags behind its strongest rivals (Toyota Motor and Honda Motor) by over a decade in producing a proprietary hybrid model.
Despite the late start, Nissan claims that its one-motor, two-clutch system results to a much better fuel economy and with much lower technical cost compared with Toyota's complex, two-motor "series parallel" system.Read the entire article Infiniti M Hybrid will have mileage comparable to that of a compact car, says Nissan
2018 Paris Motor Show: Infiniti Project Black S explores transfer of F1 dual-hybrid powertrain to road cars
Infiniti is planning to commence the electrification of vehicle portfolio in 2021. All-new Infiniti models will be electrified either as fully electric models or hybrid units. These models will be headlined by the Q Inspiration Concept serving as the basis for the carmaker’s future electrified vehicle platform. But even before Infiniti launches this plan in metal, it is previewing its vision of it electrified future through a new prototype.
Actually, this project – the Infiniti Project Black S – was first made known to the public last year through the 2017 design study. Now, the Infiniti Project Black S is resurrected as a new prototype that boasts of a hybrid electric powertrain. Drawing on expertise from across the holy alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, the Project Black S represents the commitment of Infiniti to develop exciting high-performance electrified powertrains.
Both the 2017 and 2018 Project Black S models are based from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 sports coupe. The 2017 show car was essentially an initial vision for motorsport-inspired aesthetics and aerodynamics. It was an early design vision to develop a highly focused dual-hybrid super sports car. The 2017 prototype is fully operational, functioning high-speed model that can be taken to the track for validation. The Renault Sport Formula One Team worked to ensured that the aerodynamics of the 2018 prototype is further optimized.Read the entire article 2018 Paris Motor Show: Infiniti Project Black S explores transfer of F1 dual-hybrid powertrain to road cars

Infiniti decided that they would give the 2019 versions of the QX60 and QX80 more style, especially with the introduction of the new Limited edition at the 2018 New York Auto Show. Some of these upgrades would be the eye catching parts on the exterior, and the high quality leather that can be found throughout the cabin.
Infiniti decided to give the QX60 Limited dark chrome bits around its body - from the grille, to the fog lights surrounds, and door moldings. The automaker also gave its roof rack and cross bars some dark paint, while the lower portion of the rear bumper is gloss black. The Limited model has been given a set of 20 inch multi spoke wheels too. That’s all the new things it gets on the outside.
As for the interior, the company installs Stone coloured, semi aniline leather seats that are contrasted with the stitching. This also extends to the door panels. The upholstery is then accented with dark silver wood trim as well as a black headliner. Under the hood, the QX60 Limited remains with the same 3.5 liter V6 that has an output of 296 horsepower (220 kilowatts) and 270 pound-feet of torque.Read the entire article 2019 Infiniti QX60 and QX80 Limited Editions look hotter than ever
Infiniti finally decides to share with us its Q Inspiration Concept at the recent 2018 North American International Auto Show. And whether you like the design of it or not, you better get used to it because this will be the look of next generation Infiniti vehicles.
For us, we actually find the Q Inspiration’s design quite fascinating. The grille alone is a head turner, considering the fact that it features a weird but interesting design of the company’s current double arch, filling it tightly with louvres. The air intakes on the lower fascia and the wheels give it a sporty aesthetic too. The shape of the headlights looks like cuts, which are complemented by similar lines on the hood.
Moving on to the rear, the design transitions into a sleeker look. The rear is like a fastback, and this flows from a smooth roof with thin pillars. The rounded tail is slightly understated with integrated exhausts. The rear is finished with a long strip of tail lights that stretch from one end to the other, while picking up some design cues from the sharp edged headlights.Read the entire article Infiniti reveals Q Inspiration Concept - a preview of their next-generation vehicles
Infiniti will commence sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50 in the spring, with a starting price of $36,550. But before the big launch, Infiniti has introduced a new reservation program that will allow customers to rack up luxurious rewards. But this pre-launch reservation rewards program isn't just about making customers happy, but also about increasing the hype and sales of the new 2019 Infiniti QX50.
Designed to rack up more reservations, the pre-launch reservation rewards program for the 2019 QX50 is divided into three tiers. Once a tier is unlocked by reaching a certain number of reservations, it opens up certain luxury rewards for customers. Unlocking the second tier and the third tier means upgraded luxury gifts for customers.
The first tier unlocks when the luxury carmaker receives more than 4,000 reservations. This was easily reached, and according to Infiniti USA’s Web site, the luxury carmaker has already taken 8,032 reservations (as of this writing). This meant that the second tier of luxury rewards has already been unlocked at 8,000 reservations. For the third tier to be unlocked, the total reservations received by Infiniti for the 2019 QX50 need to reach 12,000.Read the entire article Infiniti introduces 3-tier reservation rewards program, US price for 2019 QX50
Infiniti has officially named its stylish sedan concept and is calling it the Q Inspiration Concept. Set to make its official debut during the 2018 North American International Auto Show this January in Detroit, this model is expected to reveal the future design direction of the brand.
Serving as a preview, Infiniti has released a teaser photo showing a front section that is heavily sculpted with narrow headlights and with some ribbing in its grille. This highly curvaceous shape is expected to guide the upcoming flagship sedan model of the brand.
Overall, the concept sedan reveals a design that is fairly simple. It is one with more pronounced fenders and a flowing roof. By putting an outlet at the back of the front fenders, it gives this area that additional sporty swagger. Going to the rear section, it is more rounded and displays a wraparound and narrow taillight which goes across the entire width of the model. Its exhaust has been integrated to the bumper’s lower region. From looking at the roof, there’s obviously a large area composed of glass. When combined with a large greenhouse, it gives the impression of an airy cabin and exceptional visibility.Read the entire article Infiniti Q Inspiration Concept shows its rear end ahead of 2018 Detroit Auto Show
Infiniti has released a teaser of the concept that the brand is grooming to be its future flagship sedan. In announcing this teaser, the brand revealed that the concept model is an excellent preview of its new generation of vehicles. It is also the first example of the brand’s new design language. The concept model will be officially unveiled during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit to be held in January 2018.
While the teaser photo does show the direction the brand is leaning towards, increasing the contrast allows for a better look at the line. The narrow headlight combined with the crevice that goes along the hood going to the fender results in the front section having a more menacing appearance. Meanwhile the presence of the saw-tooth on the model’s grille gives this area a more aggressive feel. Based on the photo, it is likely that this concept sedan will not have that angular aesthetic and instead, it will have flowing lines.
It was back in November when Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Senior Vice President for Global Design Alfonso Albaisa accidentally disclosed that the brand would unveil a concept model for a new flagship sedan during the Detroit Motor Show. It was revealed as well that Nissan would be showing off a production model that is but a few years away from arriving at showrooms. According to Albaisa, the usual four-door version can be considered as being out of fashion and this new concept model can be described as a “sexy sedan.”Read the entire article Infiniti gives sneak peek of new concept model before unveiling at Detroit Auto Show
Infiniti has commenced sales of the new 2018 Infiniti QX80 full-size luxury sports utility vehicle. Aside from the standard specs and optional features, potential customers would want to know how much they would have to shell out to acquire a new 2018 Infiniti QX80.

They could choose the specs, exterior colors, interior elements as well as details and features, while also knowing the price they have to pay.
Of course, as a large luxury SUV, the new 2018 Infiniti QX80 isn't really affordable. Built to cater to more affluent buyers looking for a spacious and luxurious three-row SUV, the base version of the Infiniti QX80 is available at a base Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price of $64,750. Infiniti said it will be unveiling its most advanced and most compelling vehicle so far at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. While the premium carmaker didn’t say that this will be the final production version of its 2019 Infiniti QX50, there has been belief and it is highly likely that this reveal pertains to this particular mid-size sports utility vehicle.
Even before Infiniti reveals the 2019 QX50 – if it would really be the QX50 – the premium carmaker has already leaked a number of details about the next-generation of its mid-size SUV. Most of these details were made known through the Infiniti QX50 Concept that was unveiled at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.
As Infiniti revealed, the new 2019 QX50 will be powered by the VC-Turbo engine, which is the first production-ready variable compassion ratio unit. VC-Turbo technology amazingly combines the power of a high-performance 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with the torque levels and efficiency of a diesel mill. Already production-ready, the 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine offers an alternative to diesel mill, as it could adapt its compression ratio to driving conditions; thereby deliver optimized levels of performance and efficiency. Depending on driving conditions, the engine’s compression ratio could be between 8:1 (for high performance) and 14:1 (for high efficiency).Read the entire article 2019 Infiniti QX50 arrives with new VC-Turbo engine, new platform and Nissan’s ProPilot assist system
Premium carmaker Infiniti will have a big reveal at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. According to Infiniti, this all-new model will feature a stand-out design as well as best-in-class interior space. Moreover, Infiniti’s all-new model will be laden with a number of world-first technologies.
Infiniti said the new model will be defined by a fresh interpretation of its characteristic Powerful Elegance design language. This design language is marked by flowing sculptural lines as well as by strong muscular proportions. The carmaker said these design cues lend the all-new model a purposeful aura while providing a hint of its dynamic capabilities.
While Infiniti didn’t actually disclose the identity of this new model, it has released a teaser image showing some portions of the front end, in particular the front grille and the headlamps. It is expected that this new feature will soon be revealed at the 2017 LA Auto Show in the next generation of the Infiniti QX50 sports utility vehicle. After all, the grille design of the all-new model is similar to that of the QX50 Concept SUV revealed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (Detroit Auto Show) in January.Read the entire article Infiniti teases front end of its all-new model before big reveal at the 2017 LA Auto Show
As the 2018 Detroit Auto Show is fast approaching, we expect to see an exciting array of concept cars and production vehicles from various brands. One of these automakers would be Infiniti and according to reports, the Japanese automaker will be bringing in a performance EV concept once the doors open to the Cobo Center in January. Apart from that, we are also expecting a second flagship sedan that will join the concept.
Alfonso Albaisa, who is the head of design for Infiniti, mentioned in his interview with Car and Driver, that the new and improved QX80 will have a very high level of luxury. The new QX80 will have an active suspension; it also reportedly will use open-pore wood.
Of course, it will also have a ton of luxurious features, befitting of a flagship SUV. Though he didn’t only talk about SUVs in his interview. He also mentioned that Infiniti will be having a brand-new flagship sedan concept at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It will act as a preview of the future production version on a flagship four-door that we will see in the lineup in a couple of years or so.Read the entire article Infiniti will reveal new flagship sedan concept in Detroit
Infiniti has finally unwrapped the 2018 QX80 SUV at the 2017 Dubai Auto Show and announced that it will bring it at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. While not entirely a new model, the QX80 just got bolder, better and more spacious after having gone through a well-deserved facelift.
With a starting price of $64,750, the 2WD base model is packed with the same 400hp (298kW) 5.6-liter V8 engine but is offered with a fresh new look. For starters, the latest improvements could be seen at the vehicle’s lower fascia, headlights and front grille.
Infiniti’s QX80 AWD, which has a steeper price tag of $67,850, comes packed with more features such as three different driving modes (Auto/ 4H/ 4L) and a computer control module. A choice between a seven seat and an eight-seat configuration will also be added as an option.Read the entire article 2018 Infiniti QX80 priced from $64,750
After several teasers, we have finally seen Infiniti’s newest creation. Infiniti built the Q60 Red Alpha Concept with the main intention for it to go fast. That is why it has a gutted interior and a huge drag racing parachute attached at the back.
However, during the 2017 SEMA Show, Infiniti announced that there will be a whole range of performance parts specifically for the Red Sport 400 versions of the Infiniti Q50 and Q60.
Thanks to AMS Performance, they developed a number of upgrades for the Red Alpha concept car. Customers can get their hands on most of these starting early next year at Infiniti showrooms.Read the entire article Infiniti Q60 Red Alpha Concept shows us a new range of accessories
There is both good and bad news for fans of the Infiniti QX80 sports utility vehicle. Bad news is that this luxury SUV remains at its current second generation even after eight years in the market. Good news is that for the 2018 model year, the Infiniti QX80 is getting a major refresh. Infiniti has just unveiled the latest iteration of the Infiniti QX80 SUV at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.
Thankfully, what Infiniti implemented in the latest iteration of its premium full-size SUV is more than just a refresh as it’s a major update that involves exterior styling. According to the premium carmaker, the 2018 Infiniti QX80 is taking the brand’s ‘Powerful Elegance’ design language in a bold new direction, thereby creating a dynamic, modern and commanding exterior appearance. Overall, the new Infiniti QX80 now comes with bigger and bolder looks.
To this extent, the styling changes made on the new Infiniti QX80 are very much noticeable up front. For instance, the front end of the new 2018 Infiniti QX80 is now dominated by a larger grille, covering more space on the façade of the SUV. Compared to the headlamps of the outgoing QX80, the ones on the 2018 iteration have been raised to be more in line with the top end of the massive grille.Read the entire article Infiniti updates styling of its 2018 QX80 SUV for a bolder appearance
We are expecting to see American brands like Chevrolet and Ford at the upcoming 2018 Detroit Auto Show, but Japanese automaker Infiniti plans to reveal something of their own. Reports suggest that this will be an electric performance model that is similar to the hybrid Emerg-E Concept from back in 2012.
Alfonsa Albaisa, design boss of Infiniti, said in his statement that the electric vehicle will not be a variation of the company's current models, and it also will not share the same platform with an already existing vehicle like the Nissan Leaf, according to Autocar. Just like VW and Mercedes, Infiniti will be developing its own pure electric lineup, where future EVs will ride on their own platform.
It is too early to determine whether the EV will be a pure performance model, or something more mainstream like an SUV or a sporty sedan. What we will be seeing in Detroit is an EV that will borrow some of its technology from the Prototype 9, which we have seen earlier in Pebble Beach at the Quail. Albaisa explained that it will be part of the Prototype 9 in a different context.Read the entire article Infiniti is planning to unveil their performance EV at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
The Infiniti QX50 compact crossover has been in the market since 2014, and has not been given a facelift since then. After being in the market for almost four years, the SUV will be needing some updates to keep up with its competitors, though the company did say that the update will come in 2019, and that they will completely skip the 2018 model year.
This statement was confirmed by Infiniti on Tuesday when they said that they are not considering a 2018 model year QX50, but will focus on a better version of the vehicle for the 2019 model year, says Motor Authority. Engineers and designers will make sure that the new SUV will resemble the QX50 Concept we saw earlier this year at Detroit.
Right now, you are probably wondering what to expect from the 2019 model year. Well, sources say that it will come powered by Infiniti’s new Variable Compression-Turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine that they refer to as VC-Turbo - this was first previewed last August. For improved performance and fuel economy, the technology changes the cylinder compression ratio. As for performance, the first production unit is unfortunately less powerful than the 3.7-liter V6 found on the outgoing QX50 with 325 horsepower (242 kilowatts). That being said, it has 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 288 pound-feet (390 Newton-metres) of torque.Read the entire article Infiniti halts production of QX60 hybrid, skips 2018 QX50 for new 2019 model
Recently, we have been hearing news that some of the biggest automakers will not make an appearance at the upcoming 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Despite being one of the biggest motor shows, they seem to not be getting majority of the best brands - for this year’s event at least.
Normally, we would expect most brands to showcase their new cars here. But according to Automotive News Europe, companies like DS, Infiniti, Peugeot, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Mitsubishi, Volvo, and Nissan will not be attending the grand event this year. And these brands take up about 20 percent of total sales in Europe.
You must be wondering why then? Firstly, taking part in the biggest shows means spending more too. And the Frankfurt event is probably one of the most expensive events for automakers to attend. Furthermore, spending a lot of money to put your cars on display in these events doesn’t necessarily translate to more sales. So sometimes, these companies lose more money than they expect to earn.Read the entire article 9 major automakers will not attend 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
