2019 Geneva Motor Show: Audi Q4 e-tron concept previews new compact SUV bound in 2020

Audi has finally taken the veil off its latest electrified creation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the new the Audi Q4 e-tron concept. This new concept car is a compact four-door SUV that basically provides a good look at the German premium carmaker’s fifth batter electric vehicle that would enter the automotive market by the end of 2020.

Wrapped in “Solar Sky” paint finish, the exterior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron concept is only constrained by its compact dimensions pegged at 4.59 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.61 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is almost impossible not to indentify the Q4 e-tron concept as an Audi, as the prototype is marked by on the front end by Singleframe with the four rings.

Furthermore, it is also fairly easy to distinguish the concept as an electric Audi e-tron as it features upright octagonal frame instead of a traditional radiator grille. Large inlets can be found extending from below the concept’s two matrix LED headlights to the front apron.

2018 LA Auto Show: Audi unveils e-tron GT concept four-door coupe with a low floor

According to the German premium carmaker, the production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept is set to arrive in around two years. This means that could expect the third member of the e-tron family by late 2020, with initial deliveries set in early 2021. It follows the Audi e-tron SUV as well as the Audi e‑tron Sportback scheduled for 2019.

As designed, the Audi e-tron GT concept features the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo – flat and wide with a long wheelbase – as reflected on its dimensions of 4.96 meters (16.3 ft.) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft.) in height. Its overall shape is marked by a gently sloping roofline extending into the rear, a cabin tapering strongly toward the rear, well-sculpted wheel arches and shoulders as well as a flat floor that is unusual for an EV. Audi PB18 e-tron is an all-electric high-performance concept with the driver in full control

Audi has unveiled an all-electric concept car at the Pebble Beach Automotive Week in Monterey, California that visualizes a radical electrically powered driving machine for both the road and the race track. The all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron Concept is essentially a design and technical study of a futuristic high-performance sports car.

Basically, the PB18 e-tron boasts of a technical concept built from Audi's years of victories at the Le Mans, as implemented through the carmaker’s high-performance arm -- Audi Sport GmbH. The “PB18” in its name refers to the place and year (Pebble Beach and 2018) it was unveiled, while the “e-tron” signifies the fact that the concept shares the technological DNA with the Audi R18 e-tron, the carmaker’s high successful LMP1 racing car.

In terms of dimensions, the PB18 e-tron is similar to a classical sports car – it measures 4.53 meters (14.5 ft.) in length, 2 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.15 meters (4.6 ft) in height, with wheelbase of 2.70 meters (8.9 ft) and short overhangs.

Audi unveils camouflaged e-tron prototype SUV at 2018 Geneva Motor Show

Audi’s first all-electric model is on the way, and the German premium carmaker is brandishing a new model -- the Audi e-tron prototype SUV – at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This new prototype serves as a precursor of an upcoming all-electric sporty SUV from the brand with the four rings.

The Audi e-tron prototype is wrapped in camouflage, but this isn’t the traditional prototype disguise. Whereas traditional camouflage is intended to conceal the true appearance of a certain new model before they are officially revealed to the public, the one worn by the vehicle simply reveals the status of this study as a prototype that will be used for various tests.

The camouflage worn by the e-tron prototype is a specially developed design film that expresses the vehicle’s designation as an e-tron model. The camouflage is basically a distorted e-tron lettering that spans from the front end, through the flanks, over the roof and to the rear end.

Audi has been hard at work as it is kicking off a new breed of SUVs, just like the E-Tron Sportback that made its debut earlier and is set for production in 2019. The Sportback looks sleeker and sexier than the standard E-Tron that will come out next year. But these developments give rise to artists who would like to reimagine a model and explore the possibilities. Now, Lorenzo Mariotti used his Autodesk skills to design something that got inspiration from the E-Tron models - a Q4 E-Tron Concept. The concept combined high tech elements with the electric coupe concept that sits on massive wheels.

From the outside, it has a long wheelbase with shorter front and rear overhangs. This design can be very functional as it maximizes the interior space of the SUV. The front fascia introduces a new single frame grille complemented with slim laser LED headlights. The design gives it a sleeker, more modern representation of Audi's SUVs. However, the Q4 E-Tron is currently going to remain in the virtual world.

What makes it even more futuristic is the fact that the design, like the E-Tron Sportback and Q8 concept, does not incorporate conventional door handles for a seamless side profile. The side mirrors and cameras had also been taken out to make it look totally sleek. But how would you see what's behind you? What will replace these that can provide the same functions? Two years ago at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi presented the E-Tron Quattro to the public. This gave us an idea that they will soon be producing crossovers. The Quattro will be moving into production by 2018, and a year later, a coupe version of it will follow. This crossover-coupe they call the E-Tron Sportback made its debut at the Auto Shanghai in China just this week, along with two other electric concepts from competitors: the VW I.D. Crozz and the Skoda Vision E.

Similar to Volkswagen I.D. Crozz, Audi’s E-Tron Sportback also features light emitting diodes. The four-rings brand not only equips this new concept with full LED headlights and taillights. It also gets an illuminated Audi logo. Instead, it is supposed to have approximately 250 extra LEDs located around the front bumper, precisely on both sides of the corporate singleframe grille. But these lights do not only have one purpose - they are made to communicate with other cars on the road forming different light patterns - from shapes to numbers as seen on its concept video debut.

The E-Tron Sportback isn’t just about smart LEDs. At 4.9 meters long, 1.98 meters wide, and 1.53 meters tall, this coupe has a strong electric powertrain that can produce as much as 430 horsepower (320 kilowatts), and can reach a peak of 496 horsepower (370 kilowatts) when the boost mode is activated. Taking only 4.5 seconds, this little EV can accelerate up to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill.

Audi has been delighting fans and critics alike with teaser videos of its newest concept fitted with numerous LEDs. The German automaker is back to show off a more “substantial” preview of its latest creation – now complete with a name and a few adjacent sketches, enough to reveal its body style and a few exterior features. We’ve come to know that Audi’s latest creation is called the Audi E-Tron Sportback Concept. However, despite being called a “Sportback,” we’re expecting this concept car to be a crossover-coupe combination. From the photos released by Audi themselves, we can conclude that the E-Tron Sportback Concept isn’t just a typical hatchback like the A3 Sportback as it’s something far better.

As expected (and as depicted in design teaser sketches), the concept is fitted with a set of oversized wheels. Its heavily sloped roofline ending is reminiscent of a coupe but accentuated by an interesting spoiler which features two arches on both sides. The E-Tron Sportback does without the conventional side mirrors (also an expected move), with cameras on its stead, giving the concept car a sleeker look.

Audi is launching the e-tron quattro concept: a statement of how the brand sees electric mobility in the future. The all-electric drive system found on the new concept car combines well with the aerodynamic design. Its dynamic appearance is highlighted by the fact that its flat greenhouse narrows to the rear.

The e-tron quattro has a length of 4.88 meters, a width of 1.93 meters, and a height of 1.54 meters. SUVs in general have a drag coefficient of more than 0.30 but the e-tron quattro stands at 0.25. This is the reason why Audi’s SUV can go for more than 500 kilometers or 310 miles.

When the car reaches speeds of 50mph or more, the many aerodynamic elements on its hood, flanks, and rear portion are activated electronically and direct the air flow as necessary in order to improve the flow around and through the car. This is the result of rigorous development work on the wind tunnel. When inside the car, engine noise as well as wind noise cannot be heard. At the Auto China 2012 in Beijing, Audi unveiled the A6 L e-Tron Concept, its first luxury-class e-tron concept car. Based on the new Audi A6 L a.k.a. Audi’s bestselling model in China, the new concept car combines the TFSI engine with an electric motor.

This means that under the hood we will find a 2.0 TFSI that delivers 155 kW (211 hp) but also an electric motor with 70 kW (95 hp) peak power. The concept has also a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery located in a collision-protected space at the rear of the vehicle. As expected, the A6 L e-Tron Concept offers can act as an electric car and can travel up to 80 km (49.71 miles) at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph).

The new A6 L e-Tron Concept measures has a 3.01 meter (9.88 feet) wheelbase, is 5.02 meters (16.47 feet) long and 1.87 meters (6.14 feet) wide, but only 1.46 meters (4.79 feet) tall. Comparing it with the production car, the concept car features a single-frame grille with slender cross-bars and the nearly covered air intakes, 21-inch wheels in e-tron design and a special rear diffuser.

Audi attracted a lot of attention at the Le Mans 24 Hours, not only with its three Audi R18 TDI cars but also with its e-tron Spyder concept car and the Q5 hybrid quattro road car. Audi’s racing expertise as well as its prowess off the track truly makes the brand impressive.

Only weeks after the Spyder was unveiled at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, Audi now offers a glimpse of the steps it took to build this version of the e-tron line of electric cars. First, there were sketches. Five months later, the real thing arrived.

There were two stages to build the car; with each stage handling one of the two halves of the car, which were put together just six weeks before the Paris show. Back then, the e-tron was still a clay model.

The model then went into a design freeze after which, the car was then approved for production by the top Audi executives. Audi’s design for this car was inspired by the motorsports world. The body of the car is built with the use of the Audi Space Frame (ASF) technology.

There was a time when people can’t seem to contain themselves when talking about Audi’s e-Tron Concept. But now that its claim to have 3319 lb-ft of torque has been explored, the enthusiasm for the concept, which is currently on display at the 2009 L.A. Motor Show, has waned quite a bit. At the recently held Frankfurt Auto Show, the electric sports car was applauded for its 3319 lb-ft of torque, which is roughly ten times what most other cars have.

Now that the e-Tron makes its North American debut in L.A., the excitement has been lessened somewhat due to the discovery that the E-tron’s real torque output is much closer to 300 lb-ft than 3000 lb-ft. Audi wasn’t exactly lying; it was that it had used a different way of measuring torque. Audi measures the e-Tron’s 3319 lb-ft of torque at the wheels while other firms report peak torque at the output shaft of a motor or engine.

The difference between torque at the wheels and at the powerplant is typically about ten-fold due to the torque multiplication effect of transmission and final drive gears. Having said that, Audi hasn’t revealed how much torque the e-Tron actually produces from its four electric motors. The E-tron has 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/35 rubber. The car is believed to have a top speed of 125 mph.

Audi AG has on display at the Detroit Auto Show a car that could be the brother to the racy e-Tron electric sports car shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last September. Audi hasn’t committed to producing the car but it is currently assessing how the consumers react before making a decision. Audi however has a plan in place to produce the larger e-Tron in 2012.

Rupert Stadler, Audi AG chairman, said that the e-tron investment is part of Audi’s $10.5 billion R&D expenditure between 2009 and 2012. Of this amount, $8.5 billion will be spent on future products and next-generation drivetrains. The e-tron showcased in Detroit is similar enough to the R8 supercar that they could pass as siblings.

However, the e-Tron is smaller than the TT coupe and is propelled by two 150-kilowatt electric motors, which are powered by lithium ion batteries.

If the powertrain on this Audi e-tron concept succeeds in terms of range, performance, and durability, it could very well lead to the realization of plans to put an electric car on sale. However, an Audi source suggests that it is not its main role. He said that they don't know yet when the electric road car will be released but that the significance of the e-tron concept is that Audi will develop an electric road car in the future when the technology is right.

In terms of dimensions, the new Audi e-tron concept measures 4.26 m in length and 1.9 m in width, making it shorter and wider than the Porsche Boxster. It makes it possible then that after VW's takeover of Porsche, a platform-sharing deal with Audi is imminent.

As standard, the Centoventi comes out of the factory with one battery that delivers a range of 100 km. If a customer needs to travel a longer distance, he or she may opt to install another battery to give the Centoventi a total range of 200 km.

Aston Martin’s Lagonda luxury marque is confirming its plans to launch an all-new crossover in the near future by unveiling a new concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed as the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, this show car essentially serves as a preview to the brand’s upcoming crossover.

According to Lagonda, the All-Terrain Concept is an ultra-stylish, luxurious, all-electric emission-free vehicle. This marks a new step into the brand’s goal of becoming the first luxury electric automotive brand in the world. The All-Terrain Concept basically builds on the designs and materials in the Lagonda Vision Concept that was unveiled last year. While the Vision Concept was design to be driven purely on the road, the All-Terrain Concept pushes the boundary by showing that a luxurious drive could also done off the road.

While the exterior of the Lagonda Vision Concept was inspired by the Concorde, the Lagonda All-Terrain Concept, on the other hand, was initially influenced world of the super yacht. It looks like Aston Martin will soon be following up its Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro offerings with a third hypercar. This comes as Aston Martin presented the design concept for the new AM-RB 003 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Showin Switzerland.

Its terms of styling and aerodynamics, the new AM-RB 003 shares the same fundamental philosophy with the Aston Martin Valkyrie. This is evident on the pronounced front keel and large rear diffuser. In addition, the AM-RB 003 features a variable airfoil that spans across the rear wing. This variable airfoil is made possible by a new technology from FlexSys Inc. – FlexFoil.

With this new system in place, the downforce AM-RB 003 can be changed without changing the physical angle of the entire element. This new system also virtually gets rid of the turbulence and the associated drag increase in present active wing designs.

It has been three years since Toyota’s luxury division, Lexus, unveiled the LC Coupe at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which is also known as the Detroit Auto Show. Now at the same venue, Lexus is presenting to the global public an open -top study of the LC Coupe – the Lexus LC Convertible Concept.

As the luxury carmaker puts it, the Lexus LC Convertible Concept suggests future direction of its LC flagship. The premium carmaker calls the LC Convertible Concept as an aspirational halo vehicle for the entire Lexus lineup. In terms of looks, the LC Convertible Concept is essentially the LC Coupe without a fixed roof. For three years, not a few have imagine how the LC Coupe would appear if it become a convertible. The LC Convertible Concept is the realization of this imagination in metal.

As Tadao Mori, Chief Designer of the Lexus LC Convertible Concept, quipped, the show car re-imagines the unmistakable design of the LC Coupe as a future convertible. He added that the LC Convertible Concept is a blend all the best aspects of the original LC Coupe, but with the dynamic design of a convertible.
