Whether or not you’re a tech addict, you realize that the digital revolution is now moving at high speed. Before you know it, there’s already a new one on the loop. Last year’s CES has just brought us BMW’s “Connected” software and “Open Mobility Cloud”. And now, BMW welcomes 2017 with a new and better offer.
The German brand will demonstrate its latest “Connected Window” system at the ongoing CES 2017 in Las Vegas. In line with BMW’s “Open Mobility Cloud” and “Connected” app, BMW’s “Connected Window” lets you retrieve information whether at home, from the car or essentially anywhere with your mobile device.
BMW’s newest technology is set to bring more convenience to the user’s digital lifestyle. By sending information to the vehicle at the comfort of your home, there’s no need to hop into your car every time just to input an address at the navigation system.Read the entire article A glimpse into the latest BMW Connected Window
2017 is a very busy year for BMW. The German automotive brand this week exhibits the “i-Inside Future” sculpture concept. Now happening at Consumer Electronics Show, it is also at this event that they are introducing the self-driving 5 Series but let’s save that for another write-up. For now, let’s have a closer look at what the “i-Inside future” concept is all about.
Expect the most advanced BMW interior as you take a peek into the “i-InsideFuture”. Wow. The designers this year not only added autonomous mobility into their car, but they also created this highly futuristic HoloActive Touch that will put any touchscreen to shame.
The HoloActive system features a holographic interface to use for communication, infotainment system and navigation. BMW equipped its new product with the most advanced gesture control that turns the centre console into a floating display. This basically works along with a camera that monitors the movement of your fingertips. After which, a pulse or vibration is emitted from an ultrasonic source every time an input is made.Read the entire article BMW reveals i-Inside Future at 2017 Consumer Electronics Show
Aligned with BMW’s futuristic showcase at 2017 Consumer Electronics Show, the company has also built an all-new self-driving BMW 5 Series (G30). BMW’s self-driving vehicle may still be at the early stages, but it’s almost as good as any production vehicle you’ll find anywhere. BMW came up with this prototype version in its continuous effort to bring semi-autonomous driving in the next five years.
In case you’re wondering what goes on in the background, BMW used an onboard computer to countercheck the car’s current position and environment through the digital map. So this is basically how it works. Aside from sensors, the on-board system also makes the “lane-keeping assist” more accurate.
Also in this event, BMW offers new technology that enables the drivers to stay updated on the upcoming schedule or appointment. The program largely depends on the road condition, weather and flow of traffic it receives in real-time. What’s more, when you purchase an item at Amazon Prime for example, you can choose the designated pickup point to where the vehicle is going. Perhaps you’re also familiar with the brand’s “Open Mobility Cloud” service wherein the gathered information calculates the route and advises the owner on when is the best time to depart.Read the entire article 2017 CES: BMW introduces 5-Series (G30) with self-driving technology
BMW hints on revealing a new hologram touchscreen concept for the upcoming 2017 CES (2017 Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. The new technology is supposed to be a combination of direct touchscreen operation, gesture control as well as the convenience of heads-up display. In January, BMW will be showcasing the HoloActive Touch system, which is made up of advanced interface for better connection between the vehicle and the driver.
This HoloActive works like a hologram touchscreen that floats freely and is controlled with the use of gesture control. The command is determined through the “tactile feedback” coming from the driver. The holographic display concept will come with BMW’s 5 Series and 7 Series’ latest technology.
As mentioned earlier, the system will have the classic direct touch screen control, gesture control and HUD. Simply put, its entire features can be controlled without the need for physical touch. The same technology lets the driver interact with the vehicle with the same advantage of using a traditional touch screen.Read the entire article BMW prepares for 2017 CES with HoloActive Touch Concept
At the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, visitors will surely be excited by the BMW’s concept car as it hints at how car technology may develop in the future. With an emphasis on connecting the driver, the vehicle and mobile devices, BMW has developed a range of vehicles using the AirTouch facility.
This exciting new feature enables the driver to control communications, navigation and entertainment with simple hand gestures similar to Xbox and Wii hand commands. The display can be operated like a touch screen but without the need for the driver to actually make contact with the screen. Sensors positioned between the central console and the interior mirror read hand gestures to select menu features or activate icons.
Gesture control is not a new concept for BMW. Last year, they revealed finger gesture control at the CES. Using ‘Tommy Thumb’ style gestures, the driver can operate volume control or receive telephone calls, making operating the car ‘child’s play’.Read the entire article BMW set to present futuristic AirTouch gesture control at 2016 CES
After the official announcement, BMW introduced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas the M4 Concept Iconic Lights. Wearing a Cool White metallic coat, the M4 Concept Iconic Lights arrives with a new interpretation of the well-known BMW twin round headlights.
Thanks to the fine blue strips inside the lights, the laser technology can be easily identified and the BMW Laserlight promises to set new standards in terms of beam range and brightness.
The headlights not only consume 30 percent less energy, but the parallel light beam is 10 times more intense than produced by halogen, xenon or LED light sources. In addition, the BMW Laserlight has a beam range of up to 600 metres, more than twice that of conventional headlights.Read the entire article BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights revealed at the 2015 CES
The BMW Group is presenting a new element of BMW ActiveAssist at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 in Las Vegas. This new element is a safety assistance system which swerves back the vehicle into line even without any input from the driver. The BMW Group Research and Technology have built a research prototype with perfected control technology, allowing it to drive its way at high speeds and with exceptional precision on a slalom run between cones.
The prototype also managed to stick to a marked out circular course regardless of the friction coefficient of the road surface and could even execute an obstacle-evading lane change to perfection. The technology – which makes optimum use of the potential of both engine and chassis – allowed the prototype to follow its path safely and along almost identical lines even when provoked into oversteer.
While current control systems restore stability by braking individual wheels, BMW’s safety assistance system introduces active and precisely calculated steering inputs into the mix. The prototype also reacts to fluctuating grip levels with the precision of an expert driver. While the prototype travels along the predetermined target line, it does not attempt to maintain a preset speed under all circumstances; but constantly considers the condition of the road surface and responds as required.Read the entire article 2014 CES: BMW M235i, 6-Series GC are self-driving cars that can drift [w/video]
The BMW Group will showcase its BMW ConnectedDrive technology and disclose its future plans for highly automated driving at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show that will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. PST on January 7, 2014, until 12:00p.m. PST on January 9, 2014. BMW will also showcase the BMW i3 at the show.
BMW ConnectedDrive links the driver, the vehicle and the outside world via a range of assistance systems, as well as infotainment and entertainment features. BMW ConnectedDrive’s Driver Assistance systems include navigation and traffic assistance and concierge services. The BMW i Remote app, meanwhile, allows drivers to share information with the vehicle any time, even the amount of charge on a BMW vehicle.
The Apps for Automotive technology by BMW allows drivers to employ smartphone applications to link with the car while being able to send text messages via voice or text. BMW ConnectedDrive also allows easier control of entertainment options without losing focus on the road.Read the entire article BMW to showcase ConnectedDrive tech at 2014 CES
It has been three and a half years since BMW unveiled the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series. Thus, it is really about to give the 7 Series a major revision for the 2020 model year. In fact, it is only a matter of time when the sixth-gen 7 Series will be launch into the market as BMW has finally took off the veil of its revised full-size sedan.
Compared to its immediate predecessor, the 2020 BMW 7 Series seems like an all-new model in terms of looks. The most apparent exterior revision made to the new 7 Series is its significantly larger BMW kidney grille. In fact its single-piece frame has grown by around 40 percent. In the United States, the bars of the Active Kidney Grille are finished in aluminum satin.
Furthermore, the front end of the new 2020 BMW 7 Series is now two inches taller at its highest point. These revisions make the new 7 Series look more visually powerful on the road.Read the entire article Heavily revised 2020 BMW 7 Series looks more luxuriously dominant
More than a month ago since introducing the BMW X7 to the global public, the German premium carmaker has unveiled its flagship SUV to the North American audience at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. This is quite ironic since the BMW X7 is built at the carmaker’s Spartanburg manufacturing site in South Carolina.
There is quite no need to tell all the details about the new BMW X7. Nonetheless, the X7 that will soon arrive in the United States will be available in two guises, powered only by petrol engines. As what BMW has revealed, the X7 SUV will be offered either as the X7 xDrive40i or the X7 xDrive50i. The BMW X7 xDrive40i has a core in the persona of a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six engine. This mill is tuned to deliver 335 hp (250 kW) of max output as well as 330 lb.-ft. (447 Nm). This power is enough for the xDrive40i to accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 5.8 seconds.
On the other hand, BMW is offering a more powerful version of the X7 SUV, which would be an ideal fit for customers who wanted to squeeze more performance from the flagship. The BMW X7 xDrive50i will be powered by a newly developed twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that can deliver 456 hp (340 kW) of max motive power as well as 479 lb.-ft. (649 Nm) of peak torque. This engine can send the X7 xDrive50i sprinting from nil to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, or around 0.6 seconds quicker than the X7 xDrive40i.Read the entire article 2018 LA Auto Show: BMW X7 flagship SUV makes its debut in North America
BMW’s European customers who are looking forward to have a new range extender version of the 2019 BMW i3 (BMW i3 REx) will have to bear a bad news from the German premium carmaker. They won't be able to get a new one as BMW will stop producing and offering the i3 REx in Europe starting 2019 model year.
It should be noted that BMW still listed the i3 REx in the 2019 model year specification, although its Web site aren’t offering any information about the ranger extender version anymore. This has led to confusion, with many still assuming that that REx version of the i3 would still be available for the upcoming model year. To an extent, there is some truth to this, since while the 2019 BMW i3 REx will be discontinued in Europe, it will still be offered in the United States.
At first glance, it may seem odd that BMW would discontinue the range extender version of the i3, after all the REx had accounted for 60 percent of the model’s sales, despite being around £,3150 more expensive than a standard i3, which is pure electric. However, the true appeal of the i3 REx isn't really the combination of electric motors and a range-extending two-cylinder 650-cc petrol engine to provide additional charge to the drive battery. The true charm of the i3 REx lies on fact that it allows its driver to travel more distance even when the battery pack has reached a certain low charge.Read the entire article BMW i3 REx to be discontinued for 2019 model year in Europe
BMW calls the new 8 Series Coupe as the redefinition of the sports car. A more powerful performance version is expected to follow soon in the persona of the BMW M8. But if you think the M8 isn't sporty and hot enough to suit your exacting preferences, you can rely on this rumor mill: a much hotter BMW M8 Competition is on the radar.
The BMW M8 Competition rumor came to life following a closed BMW event in Paris, as attended only by selected VIP customers. This event was meant to provide these VIP customers a glimpse of upcoming models. Expectedly, no one was allowed to use their cell phones, as BMW wouldn’t want the images or slides shared during the event to spread publicly. Nonetheless, one of the attendees was able to relate his experience during the event to BMW Blog.
As reported by BMW Blog, the VIP attendee revealed that BMW M is planning to create a Competition package for the BMW M8. This revelation, however, wasn’t really surprising considering the fact that BMW M also created the BMW M5 Competition. The attendee went on to describe the looks of the upcoming M8 Competition.Read the entire article BMW M8 Competition is rumored to arrive after launch of BMW M8
Alpina is releasing a new limited edition model that is essentially a more powerful and more appealing re-creation of the BMW 4 Series. This is the new BMW Alpina B4 S Bi-Turbo Edition 99, which would be sold either as a convertible and coupe versions, with deliveries set next year. As its name indicates, only 99 examples of the Edition 99 will be built.
This new BMW Alpina B4 S Biturbo Edition 99 is a limited edition model of the Alpina B4 S, which was derived from the BMW 4 Series. However, the B4 S is even more powerful and more dynamic than the high performance iteration of the 4 Series – the M4 Coupe. The Coupe version of the Edition 99 can be availed either as rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive (left-hand drive only). The Convertible model of the Edition, meanwhile, is configured as a rear-wheel drive.
While the 3.0-liter straight-six turbocharged engine of the M4 delivers 431 hp of output, the 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six mill inside the B4 S offers up to 440 hp (324 kW). It also delivers 442 lb.-ft. (660 Nm) of torque, allowing the B4 S to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.2 seconds for the standard rear-wheel-drive configuration, or 3.9 seconds with the all-wheel drive version.Read the entire article BMW Alpina B4 S Bi-Turbo Edition 99 is a more powerful limited edition B4 S
After revealing the coupe version of the 2019 BMW 8 Series, the German premium carmaker is introducing its convertible version. The 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible is essentially the Coupe with its roof chopped off, with some modifications made to make way for its electrically folding soft top. BMW will unveil the new 8 Series Convertible to the global public at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month.
In terms of appearance, the 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible is almost identical to the 8 Series Coupe, aside from the fact that the latter’s hard top has been removed and replaced by an electrically folding soft top. This top can be fully deployed in just 15 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h). It takes the same amount of time and vehicle speed to remove the soft top down.
Once the soft is down, it is stowed underneath a rear deck which stitching is matched to the instrument panel and door panels. In addition, the cover for the 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible comes with subtle nacelles evoking the double-bubble roof design of the Coupe. To ensure that less wind enters the cabin when the soft top is down, the 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible comes fitted with standard wind deflector as located behind the front seats.Read the entire article New BMW 8 Series Convertible is set to arrive in the US in March 2019
Mercedes-Benz commenced production of the X-Class pickup truck (2018 model year) in 2017, thereby entering the luxury pickup segment. Many expected BMW to follow suit, but until now the German premium carmaker remains unmoved for calls to make its own pickup truck. Thus, seeing a BMW pickup even in concept form would be a farfetched idea; but not with X-Tomi.
An automotive graphic designer who has released a number of amazing automotive renditions, X-Tomi has delved into a more interesting project in the guise of a BMW X7 pickup truck. All X-Tomi needed to do was to have an image of the newly unveiled BMW X7 sports utility vehicle, chopped off its rear end, and added a bed. This sounds simple, but the entire rendition process is really complicated. In the end, X-Tomi proved that a BMW pickup –as derived from an X7 SUV – does look elegant and utilitarian.
Nonetheless, X-Tomi’s rendition of a BMW X7 pickup is all hypothetical as the German luxury carmaker recently confirmed that it has no plans to go compete with Mercedes in the luxury pickup segment. Likewise, a new pickup derived from the X7 would mean it would be underpinned by a body-on-frame chassis that usually serves as the platform for pickups.Read the entire article BMW X7 SUV rendered as a luxurious pickup truck by X-Tomi
BMW will launch the fourth generation of its X5 SUV to the global market in March 2019. Its high-performance version, the X5 M, would follow but that would take some time. As there would be customers who want their new X5 looks sportier than usual, BMW is allowing them to dress up their SUVs in M style through M Performance Parts.
Just in time for the global launch of the new X5 (05), BMW will be offering an extensive range of M Performance Parts, as available through the Original BMW Accessories program. Just like any other M Performance Parts, the ones that will be available for the new X5 were developed through racing expertise of BMW M. All of these M Performance Parts have a functional purpose, such as enhancing the X5’s aerodynamics or contributing to its already intelligent lightweight concept.
A number of M Performance Parts for the new X5 are made from carbon fiber, giving the SUV a more striking appearance inspired by motor racing. Most of these CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) components feature a final high-gloss polish for further depth effect.Read the entire article Extensive M Performance Parts will be available at launch of the BMW X5 (G05)
Just recently, BMW introduced its much-anticipated flagship SUV -- the all-new BMW X7 – after more than four years of wait. Now that it is finally arriving, high-performance customers are wondering how many years they would have to wait before the German premium carmaker creates a BMW X7 M.
The reality is that there is yet no clear sign that BMW would create an M version of the newly unveiled X7 SUV. While the X7 M is a possibility that can’t be discount, it might be hard to imagine how the high-performance version of BMW’s flagship SUV would look like. Good thing though, an automotive graphic artist is here to help with his own rendering of the BMW X7 M.
X-Tomi Design has been known for his renderings of still non-existent versions of vehicles that are in the market or have just been unveiled. His graphic works are usually realistic, to the point that it seems that his renderings were actual official images released by carmakers. X-Tomi latest comes in form of the BMW X7 M, which would be the high-performance version of the newly unveiled X7.Read the entire article This BMW X7 M looks like the real thing from the future
It has been more than four years since BMW announced the imminent arrival of its largest sports utility vehicle ever. Now, the German premium carmaker is finally introducing its much-anticipated flagship SUV – the all-new BMW X7.
Set to be produced at the BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina, the new BMW X7 will be launched to global market in March 2019.
The burly yet elegant exterior of the new BMW X7 essentially preaches the fact that it is large premium flagship SUV with huge intentions in the segment. Its exterior is wrapped in massive dimensions: 5,151 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm.Read the entire article BMW finally introduces its all-new X7 flagship SUV
BMW regards the latest generation – the seventh – of the 3 Series as its pride. After all, the 3 Series represents one of the cores of its sales, being one of the best-selling models at BMW. Thus, it is only natural for the company or its people to react if bad things are to be said about the all-new 3 Series.
Klaus Frohlich, the head of development at BMW, seemingly has been tired of hearing auto journalist and other people comparing the fifth and sixth generation of the 3 Series to the fourth generation. The fourth-gen 3 Series – with the codename E46 – has been regarded as the last true 3 Series, bearing the attributes that defined this model such as sportiness and dynamism as well as luxury and elegance. Many consider the generations after the E46 – like the E90 and the F30 – as not living up to the promise of the 3 Series.
Now, Frohlich is having none any of the complaints saying that the latest generation of the BMW 3 Series – the G20 – as inferior to the 3 Series E46. These bad reviews would be injustice to BMW’s development team headed by Frohlich. After all, the bad reviews on the E90 and F30 generations were what prompted BMW to make the newest generation much better, even surpassing the E46 models. In its press release for the all-new 3 Series, the carmaker said that the all signature characteristics of a BMW -- modern design, agile handling, exceptional efficiency and innovative features -- have been raised to a higher level.Read the entire article BMW wants no bad media reviews for the all-new 3-Series G20
BMW is just fresh from unveiling the all-new seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan (G20) at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. Bringing the promise of being much better than its predecessor, the all-new 3 Series Sedan is poised to meet the expectations. Nonetheless, BMW isn't finished yet, as the German carmaker will also offer wagon variant of the 3 Series.
As to how the new BMW 3 Series Wagon (G21) would look like, perhaps a design registration with Brazil's Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Industrial could help. The images may not be as sharp as those released by BMW for the 3 Series Sedan, but they offer a good glimpse of the exterior of the upcoming 3 Series Wagon.
From the front end to the B-pillar, the BMW 3 Series Wagon looks identical to the 3 Series Sedan. The front end of the upcoming 3 Series Wagon is likewise marked by the large BMW kidney grille framed by a single surround. In addition, the bonnet of the 3 Series Wagon features four contour lines all flowing towards the BMW kidney grille.Read the entire article Patent Images of BMW 3 Series Wagon (G21) show up in design registration in Brazil
