Following the global debut of the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the German premium carmaker is introducing the new Audi R8. The refreshed version of the Audi R8 boasts of a sharper look and better performance made possible by more powerful V10 engines and a modified suspension system.
As part of the upgrade of the new Audi R8, the premium carmaker is implementing a change in designation. From now on, the Audi R8 Coupé V10 and R8 Spyder V10 will be known as the Audi R8 Coupé V10 quattro and R8 Spyder V10 quattro. On the other hand, the Audi R8 Coupé and R8 Spyder V10 plus will be designated as Audi R8 Coupé performance Quattro and R8 Spyder V10 performance quattro. Audi plans to commence sales of the new R8 in the first quarter of 2019 in Germany and other markets in Europe.
Under the hood of the Audi R8 V10 quattro is a V10 naturally aspirated engine that has powered up by 22 kW (30 hp) and 10 Nm (7.4 lb.-ft.) to 419 kW (570 hp) of max output and 550 Nm (405.7 lb.-ft.) of peak torque. This allows the Audi R8 Coupe V10 quattro to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and the R8 Coupe V10 quattro in 3.5 seconds. Top speeds are 324km/h (201.3 mph) for the Coupe and 322 km/h (200.1 mph) for the Spyder.Read the entire article Refreshed Audi R8 is given more powerful engines and new designations
Audi R8 is definitely a much loved car by the market, and we really are dreading the day it will retire. To be honest, we think that the second generation model might not have the same impact as the older 2006 model, but this model is actually even more desirable with all the right boxes ticked, and its remarkable list of extra trinkets.
The said model is currently on display at Audi Forum Neckarsulm, and is dressed in an Ara Blue shade, while fitted with an assortment of optional goodies added from the Performance Parts catalog that was launched by Audi Sport in summer 2017, particularly for the R8 as well as its baby, the TT RS. In fact, after all the added features of this model, you might think that it has already lost its road legal statues. That’s because physically, it looks similar to the track-ready R8 LMS GT4 launched towards the end of last year.
Aside from its aerodynamic body kit and the front bumper canards, customers can opt to add two or three way coilover suspension. As seen in the photos, the 20 inch black milled wheels pictures here cut down some of its weight by 17.6 pounds (8 kilos). There wheels are then wrapped in 245/30 R20 front and 305/30 R20 rear tires.Read the entire article Audi R8 V10 Plus with performance parts is built to impress
Audi opened the order books for the Audi R8 V10 RWS ((Rear Wheel Series) in fall 2017 in Europe, with the model already arriving in dealership earlier this year. At the time it was unveiled, it was still unsure whether Audi is bring the new R8 V10 RWS to the United States. Now, the premium carmaker is indeed bringing the R8 V10 RWS, at a hefty starting price of $139,950 each, Motor Trend says citing its own source.
At this pricing, the Audi R8 V10 RWS – the carmaker’s first-ever production and street-legal rear-wheel-drive R8 model – is around $26,000 cheaper than the Quattro model. However, those who are interested in acquiring this edition of the R8 should remain always alert as to when it would arrive in the US, because only 320 examples are allocated for this market. While Audi didn’t give an official date for the arrival of the R8 V10 RWS in the US, it is expected that this would occur in the last quarter of the year.
The German carmaker only needed to get rid of the Quattro all-wheel-drive system to pave way to the RWD layout, thereby giving birth to the R8 V10 RWS. However, its powerful naturally aspirated V10 remains the same. The removal of the Quattro allowed the R8 V10 RWS to trim its weight by as much as 50 kg (110 pounds) for the Coupe model, and around 40 kg (88 lbs.) for the Spyder variant.Read the entire article Audi R8 V10 RWS is coming to the US at starting price of $139,950
Finally, Audi Sport takes the cover off the R8 V10 RWS at the dawn of 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The long awaited rear-wheel drive R8 is here, and as the newest addition to the supercar's range, the automaker decided to only produce 999 units of the Coupe and the Spyder trims.
For the R8 V10 RWS, Audi had to get rid of the Quattro system to give way to the RWD layout, though the naturally aspirated V10 remains intact. Now, without the Quattro, the R8 loses as much as 50 kilograms (110 pounds) for the fixed roof model, while the droptop only loses 40 kilos (88 pounds). The 5.2 FSI V10 engine is mounted on the middle, where it produces the same 540 horsepower (397 kilowatts) and 540 Newton-metres (398 pound-feet) of torque as the all-wheel drive version of the R8. This is why the RWD version lacks the rear wing of the more powerful Plus model. The R8 is better known for an extreme track day more than just cruising around Beverly Hills.
In terms of performance, the Coupe version can accelerate from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.7 seconds - that makes it two tenths of a second faster than the R8 with the Quattro system. The Spyder, on the other hand, can finish the task in 3.8 seconds, considering that it is slightly heavier. It is still 0.2 seconds faster than its AWD sibling. The R8 Coupe version can still go off to a maximum of 198.8 miles per hour (320 kilometers per hour), while the Spyder does it in 197.6 miles per hour (318 kph), same as its Quattro counterpart.Read the entire article The rear-wheel drive 2018 Audi R8 V10 RWS is finally here, with less weight too
Audi of America disclosed that at the upcoming 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, the U.S. production laser light will be making its first appearance on the 2017 Audi R8 V10 plus exclusive edition. While the exclusive edition already comes with headlights making full use of LED, each headlight will now be supported with a laser high beam module.
This laser light is just the latest innovation to come out from the same brand that started the practice of utilizing LED technology for the daytime running lights. The use of LED technology was first presented in 2004 with the Audi A8 L W12 and later in 2008 with the R8 having headlights made entirely of LED.
For the 2017 R8 exclusive edition, each laser module placed in each of the headlight will operate a total of four high-intensity laser diodes. What each module does is to bundle the diodes and allow a 450-nanometer wavelength blue laser beam to be produced. This blue laser beam then passes to a phosphor converter that turns it into a pure white and bright light. One identifying quality of the laser headlights is that the headlight housing will have a blue light signature.Read the entire article 2017 Audi R8 V10 plus exclusive edition arrives in the US with laser lights
Audi is celebrating the emphatic win of the Audi R8 LMS in the 2015 edition of the 24 Hours Nurburgring by introducing a special edition car – the Audi R8 "selection 24h." This special edition – which also pays tribute to 323 convincing wins of the Audi R8 LMS in national and international races since 2009 – will be unveiled at the Audi AG exhibit at the 24 Hours Nurburgring. Only 24 examples will be produced.
Moreover, the Audi R8 "selection 24h" special edition pays homage to the brand’s achievements in endurance racing, like its 13 overall wins in the 15 years it has participated in the Le Mans 24 Hours. Notably, Audi’s first five wins in Le Mans were courtesy of the R8 sports prototype, which eventually lent its name to the production sports model. Audi finally fielded its GT3 racing car Audi R8 LMS to races in 2009.
Since then, the Audi R8 LMS has grabbed 300 wins globally, including overall victories in 24-hour endurance competitions on the Nurburgring, at Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder in Belgium, and in Dubai. The Audi R8 LMS also grabbed a class victory in Daytona.Read the entire article Audi R8 LMS’s win at 2015 Nurburgring is marked with R8 selection 24h special edition
Audi’s plant in Neckarsulm is the place where the German manufacturer builds the A4, A5, A8, Q7 as well as the R8 supercar. On Friday, things were changed as Audi moved the R8 production in the Böllinger Höfe industrial park, which is located just six kilometers from the main plant in Neckarsulm.
According to Audi, the Böllinger Höfe site covers 23 hectares, which is just a quarter of the total area of the plant located in Neckarsulm. Audi R8 production got underway in the new site on August 25, three weeks after the last R8 came off the production line at the Neckarsulm plant.
The expansion is part of Audi’s 22 billion euros investsment around the world by 2018 and according to the press release, half of these money will be invested in the facilities located in Germany. In addition, 650 million euros will be invested each year at Neckarsulm.Read the entire article Audi opens new production line for R8 supercar in Heilbronn
Audi is working hard on the next-generation R8, which means that the German carmaker is preparing to end the production of the current model. But before stopping production, Audi has unveiled the R8 LMX, world’s first production car equipped with laser high beams. This comes as a total surprise as BMW was supposed to be the first company to introduce the laser high beams on its i8 this autumn.
As you may know already the Bavarian company was mocking Audi when the German carmaker unveiled their Sport Quattro Laserlight Concept earlier this year at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show, saying that if they wanted to show their concept car equipped with laser high beams they had to bring their laserlight concept from 2011.
Today, Audi won the game as their R8 LMX is already available for order and will hit the streets this summer with a price tag of 210,000 euros. After introducing the Matrix LED headlights on the updated Audi A8 in 2013, the German brand with the four rings gets to the next stage with the R8 LMX, the laser spot for the high beams.Read the entire article 2014 Audi R8 LMX debuts as world’s first production car equipped with laser high beams
The 2014 Audi R8, which is priced from $119,150, is now on sale. This refreshed model is available at dealerships together with the Audi R8 V10 Plus that’s priced at $174,795. Prices are inclusive of a $1250 destination fee and $3000 gas guzzler tax. The most significant change on the 2014 Audi R8 is probably the use of the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offered on both engines.
2014 R8 V10 Plus is capable of accomplishing the 0-62mph sprint 0.3 seconds quicker because of the new transmission. The 2014 Audi R8′s 4.2-liter V-8 can deliver 430 hp and 316 lb-ft of torque while the 5.2-liter V-10 has an output of 525 hp and 391 lb-ft. Opting for the R8 V10 Plus means that the buyer gets 550 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque.
Audi R8 coupe can be equipped with the seven-speed transmission as an option but the buyer has to pay $9100 higher. Choosing this for the Spyder means that it costs $13,500 premium higher than the coupe. The most affordable R8 is a manual-transmission R8 V8 that has a price tag of $119,150.Read the entire article 2014 Audi R8 Facelift goes on sale with a price tag of $119,150
Audi considers the R8 to be the pinnacle of its model range. It is available with three separate engine variants: the R8 V8, the R8 V10 and the R8 V10 Plus. The high performance sports car has been given several improvements, making it offer more power and dynamism than in the past.
It now features a recently developed seven-speed S tronic transmission that aided in the improvement of its 0-60mph acceleration time by 0.3 seconds of the R8 V10 Plus. The Audi R8 performs much better due to the new seven-speed S tronic double-clutch transmission. Furthermore, the new S tronic transmission resulted to smoother shifts, making driving even more comfortable. The new R8 V10 Plus, which is at the top of the range, has an output of 550hp and 398 lb.-ft. of torque.
It features the S tronic, which enables the car to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and to hit a top speed of 196 mph. It weighs about 100 lbs. lower than the R8 V10 because of its carbon fiber side blades, front splitter, rear diffuser, spoiler; a smaller fuel tank; manual Alcantara® seats and ceramic brakes. The Audi R8 received several aesthetic adjustments to improve the design. Several of the most obvious revisions are the recently structured LED headlights that are available as standard on all models.Read the entire article 2014 Audi R8 is ready to hit the US market

PPI Automotive, the German tuning specialist, has removed the wraps around its latest Audi R8-based PPI Razor GTR at the 2009 Top Marques Monaco. The highest horsepower figure, which is 580hp, is reached at 4,700 rpm, and torque reaches maximum at 600Nm beginning at 6,200rpm.
The PPI Razor GTR weighs only 1,580kg, a whopping 250kg lighter than the PPI R8 and lighter than the Audi R8 V10. Because of these revisions, acceleration rate has been improved so that it can sprint from standstill to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and hit the maximum speed at 332km/h.

Audi is expanding its R8 model lineup and will be releasing several new models the first of which is a V8-powered version of the R8 Spyder that will be revealed towards the end of the year. Currently, there are three versions of the R8 supercar: the 4.2-liter V-8 model and the newer 5.2-liter V-10 model, which is offered in either hard-top coupe or Spyder convertible body styles.
The first model, the V-8 version of the R8 Spyder, is currently only available with a V-10 engine. Expect the car to be priced approximately $135,000 mark and to arrive at showrooms in early 2011.
