Facelifted Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster now available to order

The new Audi TT RS – yes, the top version of the German carmaker’s facelifted TT model series – is now officially here. If you could remember, the range-topping TT RS Coupe and Roadster were visually absent when Audi unveiled the facelifted TT model series in July 2018. That got some worried, so Audi is allaying those worries.

As introduced by the brand with the Four Rings, the latest iteration of the Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster boasts of completely redrawn front end. However, most of us won't be able to distinguish the newest TT RS models from their predecessors right away. It would take discerning eyes – especially those of Audi TT RS fans and enthusiasts – to know how the latest iterations differ visually from the previous model.

For instance, the lateral air intakes on the front bumper are now larger, each divided by vertical strips. In addition, the quattro logo -- in matt titanium-look – is located in the lower part of the gloss black grille that is surrounded by matt black Singleframe. The grille is flanked by LED headlights as standard, or by optional matrix LED units.

Audi TT RS-R gets the ABT Sportsline treatment and 500 hp

Audi introduced the TT RS Coupe earlier this year at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and now, we finally get to see the same updates on the Roadster.

In 1896, Johann Abt started a blacksmith shop in Kempten, Germany. Currently, the company is focusing on projects involving a variety of cars from the Volkswagen Group, from the Skoda Citigo to the Audi R8 supercar. One of ABT Sportline’s latest project is the TT RS, making it resemble its bigger brother more.

Dubbed TT RS-R, ABT Sportsline is only upgrading 50 units each of the coupe and the roadster. Both models will be equipped with a five-cylinder, turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that can produce an extra 100 horsepower more than the standard model - giving out a total of 500 horsepower (368 kilowatts) and 570 Newton-metres (420 lb-ft) of torque. That is an additional 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

Quattro AWD now available for 2017 Audi TT TDI coupe and roadster

For those pleading that Audi’s TT two-door coupe and roadster powered by the 2.0-liter TDI engine would get the known quattro all-drive drive technology, it seems that the German premium carmaker has heard your prayers. Yes, an Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro is now available.

However, there is a twist to this. Audi’s all-wheel drive technology could only be fitted into a 2.0 TDI engine-powered 2017 TT coupe or roadster if the S tronic six-speed dual-clutch transmission is availed. The resulting variant would be the 2017 Audi TT 2.0 TDI quattro S tronic, which boasts of all-wheel drive agility and excellent diesel economy. Of course, the 2017 Audi TT Coupe 2.0 TDI with six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD) remains available to order.

With this development, the 2017 Audi TT coupe – both coupe and roadster -- is now available in seven engine/transmission variants: 1.8L TFSI/six-speed manual (FWD); 1.8L TFSI/six-speed S Tronic (FWD); 2.0L TFSI/six-speed manual (FWD); 2.0L TFSI/six-speed S Tronic (FWD);2.0L TFSI/six-speed S Tronic (quattro);2.0L TDI/six-speed manual (FWD); and 2.0L TDI/six-speed S Tronic (quattro).

2017 Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster launched at the Beijing Motor Show

Audi is introducing its latest road machines at the Beijing Motor Show – the highly potent Audi TT RS Coupé and Audi TT RS Roadster. These newest iterations of the Audi TT RS Coupé and the Audi TT TS Roadster are powered by a new aluminum five-cylinder engine that provides up to 400 hp, or around 60 hp more than their predecessor.

This power plant in focus is the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder that boasts of higher power output and performance despite the unchanged capacity of 2,480 cc. This power plant – named “Engine of the Year” six consecutive times – is now of lightweight construction and features lower internal friction and higher power delivery.

This allowed the engine to deliver 17-percent more output than its predecessor while developing up to 480 Nm (354.0 lb.-ft.) of torque available between 1,700 and 5,850 rpm. With these specs, this five-cylinder turbo engine allows the TT RS Coupé to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the Roadster can reach this speed in 3.9 seconds. Top speed is restricted at 250 km/h (155.3 mph), but could be adjusted to 280 km/h (173.9 mph) upon request.

It’s not a secret that the MINI Coupe and Roadster models were not quite popular, so it shouldn’t be a surprise for you folks if we will tell you that the vehicles will go out of production next year. These words came from MINI USA product chief Patrick McKenna, who added that the vehicles ran their life cycle.

Apparently, the vehicles were criticized for having a design which was too similar to the existing MINI models. In addition, the MINI Coupe and Roadster models shared the same platform and engine options with the existing MINI models.

As a result, MINI decided to focus on higher volume models rather than niche products. Although there is nothing official, several sources said that BMW will replace both vehicles with a new model that will look like a stand-alone sports car.

Bentley Motors’ centenary celebration is just getting started. As the iconic British carmaker unveiled the fastest production SUV in the world so far, it is also celebrating 100 years of existence by unveiling a limited edition collectors’ car – the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner.

Ever since W.O. Bentley founded Bentley Motors on July 10, 1919, the working principle at the carmaker has always been “build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” Nearly 100 years since then, Bentley’s celebratory model is seen to live to that principle. After all, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is inspired by the carmaker’s illustrious motorsport history.

In fact, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is paying homage to Sir Henry Ralph Stanley “Tim” Birkin. Considered as one of the original ‘Bentley Boys’ of the 1920s and ‘30s, Birkin wasn’t just a customer but also a racing driver. Back then, Birkin commissioned a series of 4 1/2 Litre supercharged Bentley Blower. One of these was raced by Birkin himself at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. As you may have guessed, Birkin piloted the iconic No.9 Bentley Blower – with power increased from 110 bhp to 175 bhp -- at the race.

It was only around three ago when Mercedes-AMG unveiled the AMG GT R Coupe. Now at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, AMG chopped the roof the AMG GT R Coupe and made some necessary revisions. This resulted to the birth of a new AMG GT R model from Mercedes-Benz – the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Roadster.

When the AMG GT R Roadster arrives, the AMG GT family will have 16 members that include five two-door coupes, four roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and five 4-door coupes. But AMG isn't planning to build many as only 750 units are intended to be produced.

Of course, the main difference between the AMG GT R Coupe and AMG GT R Roadster is that the latter has no fixed roof, allowing its occupants to enjoy the thrill of open-air ride. But should they need some protection from the elements, the AMG GT R Roadster is provided with a three-layered fabric soft top. Featuring an inserted acoustic mat that can reduce noise, this soft top is supported by a structure of low weight – thanks to materials such as magnesium, steel and aluminum – which basically help give the AMG GT R Roadster a low center of gravity.

Since, we have been waiting for Lamborghini to formally unveil the Aventador SVJ Roadster. Now, the newest Aventador can be seen in metal in Geneva.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked that the new Aventador SVJ Roadster essentially inherits all the power, performance and innovative aerodynamic technologies of the coupe version but with an added exclusivity of driving in the open air. He added that Aventador SVJ Roadster offers the same extraordinary performance with roof on or off.
