Bentley celebrates its 100 years with Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner

Bentley Motors’ centenary celebration is just getting started. As the iconic British carmaker unveiled the fastest production SUV in the world so far, it is also celebrating 100 years of existence by unveiling a limited edition collectors’ car – the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner.

Ever since W.O. Bentley founded Bentley Motors on July 10, 1919, the working principle at the carmaker has always been “build a fast car, a good car, the best in its class.” Nearly 100 years since then, Bentley’s celebratory model is seen to live to that principle. After all, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is inspired by the carmaker’s illustrious motorsport history.

In fact, the Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is paying homage to Sir Henry Ralph Stanley “Tim” Birkin. Considered as one of the original ‘Bentley Boys’ of the 1920s and ‘30s, Birkin wasn’t just a customer but also a racing driver. Back then, Birkin commissioned a series of 4 1/2 Litre supercharged Bentley Blower. One of these was raced by Birkin himself at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. As you may have guessed, Birkin piloted the iconic No.9 Bentley Blower – with power increased from 110 bhp to 175 bhp -- at the race.

Rolls-Royce Wraith Luminary Collection features star headliner with 1,340 fiber optic lights

Whenever you hear the word Rolls-Royce, average or typical definitely are not words you would use to describe them. The BMW-owned luxury automaker is always looking for ways to give these already fancy cars, even more kick, by offering more configurations to satisfy deep pocketed customers who have exclusive taste.

For instance, we just learned that there will soon be a special edition version of the lavish Wraith coupe, with extra bits here and there. And it comes as no surprise that this will only be limited to 55 units. The special edition model gets inspiration from “those who lead where others follow”. The special edition will be dressed in Sunburst Grey paint with copper accents, but that is not the only thing that makes this Wraith so unique.

Just like the rest of the Rolls-Royces, the source of the magic is inside the luxurious cabin where the starlight headliner has been improved quite a bit. Firstly, it had been handwoven. Second, this weave consists of 1,340 fiber optic lights that illuminate eight shooting stars that fire at random. It actually takes almost 20 hours to configure this effect, which is predominantly observed over the front seats. All these contribute to the brand’s aim to raise the Wraith’s owner-driver appeal.

2017 Mercedes-AMG Coupe 4Matic+ Yellow Night Edition costs $237,688

Last month at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, we witnessed the debut of the refreshed S-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. And finally, Mercedes-Benz has begun taking orders of these models in Europe, and deliveries will begin in January next year. But apart from that, we got another surprise from Mercedes-AMG as they revealed a limited S63 Coupe 4Matic+ Yellow Night Edition. And this unique model will only be available for six months, with a starting price of 202,121.50 euros ($237,688).

The automaker did not just come up with random names for these models, and the reason why it has the word “night” in its name is because customers can get the version of the S63 Coupe finished in either Selenite Grey Magno or Night Black Magno. The “yellow” in its name, on the other hand, refers to the yellow trims it will get on the mirror housings and the brake calipers. The S63 Coupe then gets a set of seven set double-spoke black wheels.

Obviously, this is more than just the paint job. The Yellow Night Edition was designed with the Aerodynamics Package that comes with a larger front splitter and lip spoiler on the trunk. The aerodynamic parts are finished in high-gloss black, but customers can get the Carbon Fiber Package if they prefer these parts to be made of carbon fiber. The coupe also gets a set of stripes that stretch along the lower edges on both sides of the car.

Butterfly-inspired iridescent Structural Blue paint appears first on Lexus LC 500

For the past 15 years, Lexus has been conducting a research into butterfly wings. And this study resulted in a special paint job from the Japanese automaker. It is so complicated that the paint alone requires 12 steps and 20 quality inspections. We will first see this on the LC 500 Structural Blue Edition, that creates an iridescent look on the grand tourer.

The company was inspired by the Morpho butterfly, which gave them this particular shade of blue. Lexus says that unlike conventional finishes where the paint reflects just under 50 percent of the pigments, this shade reflects almost 100 percent. The tiny pigments let the vehicle produce an ever changing shade of blue. The only downside is that this is not apparent in photographs, which is why you cannot really appreciate it in these photos.

When Lexus first came up with this shade, they had to use 40 layers of paint to let it produce this effect. However, after years of study, they were able to reduce this down to only 7 layers - now making it more feasible for production models.

Were you ever a fan of the Audi RS4 Avant or the RS5 Coupe? If you were, we have something even flashier for you - that is if you are the kind of person who likes to stand out of the crowd. It is the all new Carbon Edition for both high-performance models. Instantly, you would think of a massive weight loss, but that is not all because the vehicles will also come with an RS sport exhaust and matrix LED headlights.

Given that name, we would expect the models to have a body that has been given carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) components. True enough, certain parts including the front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser insert and mirror caps have all been swapped with carbon fiber. There is also some noticeable carbon fiber trim on the interior and the engine cover. The RS5’s roof has been replaced by this, saving it a total of 6 pounds 10 ounces (3 kilograms).

Other than the carbon fiber bits, the Carbon Edition also includes a few other accents to add some style to the car. The radiator grille on the front fascia now has a matte aluminum finish, and matte titanium materials can be found on the Quattro logo as well as the window surrounds. To finish this off, the windows had been given a darker tint as well.

Mercedes-Benz will release more premium edition variants of its latest models that are closely based on the same concept of the SLC RedArt and SL design Edition. The car in question is the new GLE Coupe OrangeArt Edition which offers a model-specific upgrade.

In a bid to attract more consumers, the German marque will be offering its pseudo SUV-coupe with the premium edition treatment. The new variant is offered in a couple of black shades as well as in white, gray or silver hues. But what is eye-catching is that the Coupe can be aesthetically known for its orange accents of the rim flange and front apron.

Various eye-catchers in Orange lend the coupe a sporty look, and with its striking contrast, they give the vehicle a stylish vibe. The OrangeArt Edition Coupe also flaunts 21-inch alloy wheels directly from AMG's portfolio and will be offered as standard with a black LED ring meant for the headlights. The exterior's upgrades are only up to here, sorry to burst your bubble.

Who would not want a matching sports car and a super bike? Oh, and a matching watch to complete the package! In celebration of BMW’s partnership with Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, the French and Bavarian companies put together a special deal dubbed the M4 Competition Package. It is set to be offered this spring and costs a whopping €180,000 (or around $190,100). Being stylish doesn’t come cheap nowadays.

So the Competition Package comes with a special edition M4 Magny-Cours Edition. Its exterior is painted all white, accented with its signature red, blue, and black (typical M colour) stripes that run on the sides of the car. It comes with a rear wing and front lip made of carbon fiber, and the best part – a set of 20 inch multi-spoke alloy wheels (this is probably my favourite feature). Sounds very much like another outstanding lightweight car fitted with plenty of goodies. There’s everything to like about this offering.

Just like the standard BMW M4, it is provided with a 3.0 liter inline-six turbocharged engine under its hood, producing 450 horsepower (336 kilowatts) to the rear wheels. In just four seconds, it can speed up to 62 miles per hour from a standstill (0-100 kilometers per hour). But that’s only for the variant that comes equipped with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission, which is optional.

Will there be another Bullitt Mustang in the near future? There could be, if we base our conclusions on the recent accidental leak of the new Ford Mustang Bullitt’s existence.

Hitting the big screen in 1968, Bullitt is definitely one of the epic and classic films ever shown. Its iconic importance has been cemented by the fact that it was selected in 2007 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, as Bullitt is "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Sharing the same legend as the film’s main protagonist (Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, played by Steve McQueen) is the car that he drove during the now epic car chase – a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. Commonly called as the Mustang Bullitt, this epic car has been resurrected many times in forms of commemorative editions in 2001 and 2009. Ford built 5,582 examples of the Mustang Bullitt in 2001 and followed it up with 816 units in 2009. Because of its epic status, it is no wonder that motorists from a whole new generation are still excited about the prospect of a new Mustang Bullitt appearing in the near future. However, Ford has been silent on whether there is indeed an endeavor to recreate a Mustang Bullitt, as derived from the latest generation of the Ford Mustang.

Mercedes-Benz will be officially unveiling the Night Edition of its S-Class Coupe this coming January 2017 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Currently, the S-Class Coupe is on a level all on its own given the refined athleticism, the stylish design, and the various exclusive equipment inside. This allows the S-Class Coupe to have the proportions similar to the Gran Turismo but with advanced technology and contemporary luxury.

For the Night Edition, one exclusive feature can be seen on the interior, particularly the AMG sports steering wheel. In addition to being wrapped in nappa leather, the steering wheel is where the Night Edition badge has been engraved. In order to make this new feature fit, the upholstery is available in nappa leather, leather, or even AMG nappa leather, in a black/black combination. Other combinations are also available like the Bengal red/black, saddle brown/black, or the crystal grey/black. There will also be the option to have the high-gloss poplar wood trim in black. The goal of all of these is to highlight the unique personality of the vehicle.

One of the many challenges that can be experienced in buying a McLaren is in selecting from the many specifications available for the model. The various choices for the interior and the exterior, like the material, the color, and finish, to name a few, are staggering. Note that this is even before one has the chance to look into what the personalization service of the McLaren Special Operations can do.

There is however some good news as the brand revealed that for those planning to get the McLaren 570S, the process has been made easier with the release of five groups of options dubbed the “Design Editions.”

Let’s start with power. The special editions are fitted with standard equipment that’s definitely not of the ordinary variety. Specifically, these models are powered by the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine with output of 570 hp (425 kW) with top torque of 442 lb.-ft. (600 Nm). All of the power is then transmitted by the dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox to the rear wheels. With this, the 570S is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in merely 3.2 seconds with maximum speed coming in at 204 mph (328 km/h). The figures are considered as excellent given that the 570S is an entry-level supercar.

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, Automobili Lamborghini is introducing the Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage. This is a special edition of the current Aventador coupe that pays homage to the Miura, which is considered as the ancestor of all V12 Lamborghini super sports cars. Lamborghini will only build and sell 50 examples of the Aventador Miura Homage to selected global markets, although majority of them have already been sold. The new Aventador Miura Homage – a masterpiece of Lamborghini's Ad Personam studio – pays tribute to the colors as well as specifications of original Miura models. For instance, the color of the upper body is complemented by a contrasting tone of the lower body.

Lamborghini had been building the original Miura according to the preference of the client in terms of colors and trims. Six of the most iconic colors for the iconic Miura were made available for the Aventador Miura Homage, including Blu Tahiti (metallic), Rosso Arancio Miura (solid color); and Verde Scandal (solid). Marking the special version of the super sports car is a metallic Miura badge on the side and black Lamborghini logo on the rear end, as well as a limited edition plate inside the cabin. The Aventador Miura Homage is available in 20-inch or 21-inch Dione rims finished in either matt silver or gold. Its interior could be specified in any of the available internal colors, both in full Nero Ade or Terra Emilia leather with tone-on-tone stitching and carbon fiber package offered as standard.

The upper part of the seats features Miura 50th logo stitching in gold or silver while the leather dashboard comes with the 'Lamborghini' embroidered lettering. Just like the vehicle it pays tribute to, the new Lamborghini Aventador Miura Homage is powered by a V12 engine, this time a 6.5 liter unit that develops up to 700 hp of output available at 8,250 rpm and up to 690 Nm of torque available at 5,500 rpm, allowing the special edition to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds and achieve a top speed of 350 Km/h (217 mph).

Audi is celebrating the emphatic win of the Audi R8 LMS in the 2015 edition of the 24 Hours Nurburgring by introducing a special edition car – the Audi R8 "selection 24h." This special edition – which also pays tribute to 323 convincing wins of the Audi R8 LMS in national and international races since 2009 – will be unveiled at the Audi AG exhibit at the 24 Hours Nurburgring. Audi finally fielded its GT3 racing car Audi R8 LMS to races in 2009.

Since then, the Audi R8 LMS has grabbed 300 wins globally, including overall victories in 24-hour endurance competitions on the Nurburgring, at Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder in Belgium, and in Dubai. The Audi R8 LMS also grabbed a class victory in Daytona.

A new version of the classy but ferocious middle child of the M4 series is set for release; unfortunately, it will only be available in Spain. The BMW M4 series is an irony within itself because it can be a laidback and comfortable cruiser for everyday use while it can also be a vicious opponent in the race track. There are two variants of the M4, the Standard M4 and the M4 GTS.

While there is an unlimited supply of the $65,000 Standard M4, there are only 700 units of the M4 GTS which is sold for $161,972. See the price gap between the two? Well, for many, the GTS being a limited-edition track beast is not enough reason for the outrageous disparity between the prices. So how does BMW respond to this ridiculous disparity? Simple. Put something in between the standard M4 and the GTS. And what do we get? Of course a version somewhere in between the sleek and chill standard M4 and the ferocious track beast that is the GTS.

Just recently, BMW revealed the newest M4 family member. Sporting an iconic CS or “Club Sport” moniker, the M4 CS is basically a toned down and “civilized” version of the GTS. Serving as a middle child of the standard M4 and the GTS, the M4 CS will be sold for €132,900 or approximately $150,000.

Ferrari has created a new car that’s designed for truly extreme road racing. Dubbed as the F12tdf, this new car is reminiscent of the 1950s and the 1960s such as 1956 250 GT Berlinetta, when Ferrari was the biggest name in the Tour de France road race, ensuring that the F12tdf will have capabilities that make it worthy of competing in the race.

Hence, the automaker built a car that offers the greatest performance without sacrificing handling and user comfort. Just like the cars that endured the legendary endurance competition, the new Ferrari car has been designed with an eye for meeting demanding conditions in both ordinary roads and the race track.

Ferrari has worked hard to introduce new features in critical areas of the car’s design, particularly the engine, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics. Fans of extreme road driving will find the improved acceleration, roadholding and agility of the car as definitely the best in its class.
