Jaguar E-Pace rendered by X-Tomi as a high-performance RS variant

The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is the leaping cat’s first venture into the compact SUV segment, and sure enough, it didn’t take long before an artist rendered a wilder version of the small SUV. Enter the Jaguar E-Pace RS by X-Tomi Design - the artist’s own interpretation of the SUV with unusual performance.

To start off, X-Tomi enhances the size of the small SUV’s front bumper and side skirts. Perhaps, these are done to match the ideal standards of a possible Jaguar E-Pace high performance RS variant. There are also some visibly larger wheels, black accents and bits of carbon fiber to complete the high-performance look.

Being the newest member of the brand’s growing range of SUVs, the E-Pace is designed as a five-seater, small SUV that offers plenty of space as well as the latest connected technologies available. Among them are the infotainment system’s 10-inch touch screen monitor with 3 adjustable controllers for the fan speed and temperature setting, a head-up display screen as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The storage space between the two front seats is at 2.2 gallon while the rear area has a capacity of up to 22.4cu.ft. Using the 60:40 split folding set up, the storage space can be expanded even further.

Audi RS Q5 will be powered by the 2.9-liter bi-turbo V6 from RS 5 Coupe

Audi’s intention to bring out the Renn Sport Racing version of the Q5 was made clear when it unveiled the Audi SQ5 at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show early this year. Amazingly, the new Audi RS Q5 is expected to show off its high-performance nature by having under its elegantly sporty bonnet a powerful engine that is already fitted in the new Audi RS 5 Coupe.

Following the reveal of the SQ5 in January 2017, it was widely expected that Audi would take the wraps off the new RS Q5 at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. To the dismay of many Audi fans and enthusiasts, that unveiling didn’t happen, and the guessing game for the new Audi RS Q5 continues. Of course, one of the matters being debated is the core of the any vehicle – the engine.

As revealed, the Audi SQ5 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 TFSI aluminum engine that delivers 260 kW (354 hp) of max output and 500 Nm (368.8 lb.-ft.) of peak torque available between 1,370 rp and 4,500 rpm. This allows the SQ5 to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 5.4 seconds on the way to reaching an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph).

Alpine is eyeing rival for Porsche Macan in the SUV arena

Alpine is said to be developing an SUV which is believed to be the Porsche Macan’s closest rival. According to AutoExpress, the newly revived performance brand has been looking to release a small SUV following the launch of the A110 at this year’s Geneva Auto Show.

The fact that Renault and Nissan have what it takes to make it big in the SUV segment means that Alpine won’t have to start from scratch in developing a new SUV. The family utility vehicle will be taking its styling cues from the mid-engine sports coupe and is expected to reveal the vehicle by 2019.

To be at par with Porsche’s best-selling vehicle, perhaps the French marque only has to ensure that the SUV will be carrying the sports DNA which Alpine is known for.

Jaguar reveals the new E-Pace small SUV

"It has every reason to succeed" -- this is what Finbar McFall, global product marketing director, has to say about the new Jaguar E-Pace small SUV. He said this during an interview when asked if the small SUV could outsell the current favourite, which is the mid-sized F-Pace SUV.

Jaguar developed the E-Pace to go up against the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. It is not just a smaller version of the F-Pace as it is completely unique in its own way. In terms of size, it is very similar to that of the Audi Q3.

The E-Pace, also known as "the cub", was built with some inspiration from the Range Rover Evoque. After 3 years of development, combined with Jaguar XF's suspension hardware, the company came out with a sporty SUV. Chief engineer Graham Wilkins made sure that the E-Pace drives just like a Jaguar.

The Concept X2, introduced back at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, impressed many people with its low-profile roof, and dramatic front end. Its looks implied a better performance and it appeared to be less of a utilitarian car such as traditional SUVs.

Did you wonder how a BMW X2 production version would look like? Well, it shouldn't be that hard to imagine. Just take the concept, and bring the styling down a notch by around 25 percent. The Japanese bureau submitted patent drawings of what could be the production-ready BMW X2 last February 22, but these had only been published on July 3rd.

The changes made to the final X2 are likely the same ones you would see on the patent. The slender side mirrors have been replaced with a set of chunkier side mirrors that offer a better view of the back.

The world never runs out of adventure, which is why BMW Lifestyle has teamed up with “Specialized” to develop the special edition E-mountain bike. Branded as Specialized Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie, the exclusively designed mountain bike has been given the new Phytonic Blue paint job to match the official color of the 3rd generation BMW X3 (G01).

To further complement the new SUV, the trail bike is equipped with a water bottle with the tagline “Specialized For BMW”. The price? Let’s just say the regular Specialized Turbo Levo FSR 6Fattie costs $4,500 (or about 3,900 in euros in Germany). Now for those who want the special edition BMW version of the mountain bike, they can have it for the price of $5,900 (5,200 euros).

What makes it more interesting to have is that the e-bike features a 504Wh battery pack with a dock that lets you recharge its battery off the bike. Similarly, BMW developed a special charging cable that can be hooked to the SUV’s 12V power socket without compromising its own supply.

Last month, the Hyundai Kona was spotted without any cover during a supposed promotional video shoot in Lisbon, Portugal. Since then, we have been highly anticipating its arrival. But our wait is now over, as Hyundai has finally presented its all-new Hyundai Kona, to the delight of avid followers of sub-compact SUVs.

Hyundai's latest addition to the line-up is quite a big deal. The Kona gives us a glimpse of the funky new styling direction for the Korean automaker's entire utility vehicle range. Notably, it will have the new B-segment platform. This is a good move since many consumers have become familiar with the unique designs of the likes of the Jeep Cherokee and Nissan Juke. Now it is expected that this styling pattern will be utilized for a long time.

Kona has been compared to the Cherokee, Juke and even the Toyota C-HR. But as far as we can see, the Kona has more appeal, aesthetically speaking. Up front, the Kona's split-light design definitely catches attention in a good way. The sub-compact SUV has a top row of running LED lights for its turn signals, and the bigger housings found beneath contain the LED headlights.

Lexus has always had a nice range of cars, but they haven’t really covered all segments yet. For instance, if you’re looking for a three-row crossover, the only models Lexus could offer you are the GX and the LX. Both of which are huge and have a truck-like body. There is also the smaller RX that you could go for, but it only has two rows.

Last March, the Japanese company announced the arrival of a new crossover with three-rows, but it has been a year and we have not seen it yet. The good news is that the RX finally gets a three-row version, fulfilling a lot of people’s dreams. And according to Japanese car outlet Mag-X reports, the new RX crossover is scheduled to make a debut in October at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The RX is actually one of the company’s bestselling cars, and now that it has evolved into a three-row crossover, Lexus sales will probably shoot up as well.

According to more reports, the updated crossover will have the same wheelbase as its predecessor, with the rear overhang slightly extended. Now I wonder how tight it will be if there are three rows, considering the fact that the current model’s second row is already very close to the rear glass. This might actually mean no trunk space for the new RX.

Without a doubt, the SUV segment is getting increasingly more saturated. This month alone, we were greeted with city-oriented SUVs from the Kia Stonic to the Hyundai Kona, and now - say hello to the 2018 SEAT Arona. Yup, there’s another addition to the already crowded segment. Similar to the Ibiza-mini, the Arona rides on the MQB A0 platform. And despite its familiar design, I’m pretty sure it offers some features the others do not, enabling it to go against more popular brands.

We can begin by comparing it with the Ibiza. Firstly, the SEAT Arona is 79 millimeters longer than the Ibiza, at 4.14 meters. As for the height, the Arona is definitely a winner here, being 99 millimeters higher, giving its front and rear passengers more headroom inside. Another factor that’s important when speaking of measurements would be the cargo space. In this case, the B-segment SUV can fit more of your stuff with 400 liters of luggage - that is, with the rear seats on. The Ibiza, on the other hand, comes close to a 355 liter cargo space, which is huge for a car that size.

To keep competition interesting with players like the Kia Stonic, the Arona will be offering a number of customizations for its customers. For instance, there will be at least 68 colour combinations that buyers can choose from - like the really sweet Eclipse Orange shade. The interior can also be finished with the customer’s liking, so the Arona can give you exactly what you have in mind.

All-new BMW X3 (G01) just made its debut! The updated model has a familiar design, and slightly increased dimensions compared to its successful predecessors.

For more cabin space, the wheelbase has been extended by an additional 2.2 inches (5.5 cm). The length and the width of the new X3 are also slightly longer, thanks to the optimized package.

The S in Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) is emphasized by its more dynamic design such as the sharper adaptive LED headlights and a more muscular hood. Here, we also witness BMW's new 3D front grille. The rear fascia, on the other hand, gets a pair of exhaust tips and a nice set of taillights.

The new Jaguar E-Pace crossover will soon hold its official launch on July 13 and is expected to arrive at the showrooms by early next year. It couldn’t have come at a better time since its larger version, the F-Pace already outsells the British manufacturer’s other models within its first year in the market. With a sticker price of only $38,600, the more compact E-Pace will surely help in maintaining Jaguar’s thrust in the crossover and SUV segment.

While what we have is a lone teaser image of the crossover, Jaguar at least stated that the E-Pace will be offered not only with an all-Ingenium range of petrol and diesel engines, but with the standard all-wheel drive set up as well. Also, there will be a long list of connected technology and convenient features to look forward to once Jaguar formally launches the E-Pace next month.

Though small, the E-Pace bears the leaping cat’s powerful performance and the looks of a sports car. Put them altogether and it will definitely stand out in a crowded segment just how the F-Pace has done so in the past several months. For 38,600 USD, the E-Pace is cheaper by 3,465 USD than its larger sibling which of course has more space to offer than its newest entry.

Earlier this year, German automaker Opel revealed their largest SUV to date, the Grandland X as it made its debut online. The SUV, a European exclusive, comes in a sophisticated new look and shares some of its genes with the Peugeot 3008.

Having said that, the Opel has pretty impressive measurements of 14.7 feet (4.48 meters) with a cargo space of 18 cubic-feet (514 liters) to fit all your extra large luggage. That’s very close to the Peugeot’s 18.3 cubic-feet (520 liter) cargo capacity and its length of 14.5 feet (4.42 metres). With these specs, you're probably expecting a hefty price tag that comes with it. The good news is that the Opel Grandland X actually costs less than its Peugeot counterpart, with a starting price of €23,700 (£20,890) including VAT versus the €25,995 (£22,910) Peugeot.

That price comes with a 1.2 liter turbocharged gas engine that can carry out 130 horsepower (96 kilowatts) and 169 pound-feet (230 Newton-metres) of torque. If you are not keen on getting a gasoline engine, you can opt for the 1.6 liter diesel option producing 120 horsepower (88 kW), and 221 pound-feet (300 Nm) of torque for a starting price of €26,500 (£23,335). But if neither of those options are up to your liking, then that is not a problem as Opel is developing a variant that has "more power" that should be out in the market soon.

Skoda recently launched the new Karoq compact SUV as a replacement model to its now-defunct Yeti small crossover. Slotted below the newly introduced Skoda Kodiaq, the new Karoq features a design that looks further ahead in the compact SUV segment. While the new Skoda Karoq isn’t really a sporty model – whether in looks or performance – it wouldn’t be bad to re-imagine the Yeti replacement in RS and Monte Carlo versions.

In case you are having a hard time imagining how the new Skoda Karoq compact SUV would look like, you can turn to the works of automotive visual artist X-Tomi Design as reference. Known for re-imagining different versions of current vehicle models, X-Tomi Design has turned his eyes on the newly unveiled Skoda Karoq and rendered its Karoq RS and Karoq Monte Carlo variants.

The compact SUV in white is the new Karoq RS, with various exterior modifications that distinguish it as the top sporting version of the new compact SUV. There have been rumors that Skoda is really planning to create an RS version of the Karoq, which should deliver up to 300 hp of output. The most powerful Skoda Karoq in the lineup is the one served by a 2.0-liter TDI engine that delivers 187 hp (190 PS) of max output and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of peak torque.

In a game-changing move, Ford has revealed that it will soon produce its first ever all-electric CUV that will be built to be electric from the ground up, and it will be rolled out in 2020.

The American automaker is planning to roll out its first ever autonomous car by the year 2021, a vehicle that will be utilized for car sharing services purposes only. But before releasing the said vehicle, the Blue oval is planning to send off its pioneer all-electric, long range unit, and this will be made available to the public.

During the 2017 Consumer Electric Show in January of this year, Ford CEO Mark Field revealed a bunch of exciting news that includes a whole lot of models that will be fitted with an electric drivetrain option, the Mustang and F-150. Both of these vehicles will hopefully be made with a plug-in hybrid alternative. But the most attention-catching bit is the plan for a fully electric Compact Utility Vehicle that will run at least 300 miles.

The other day, we were just wondering whether the 2018 Skoda Karoq was a successor of the larger Kodiaq. But since the company said that the Yeti was discontinued for something more exciting, we thought that maybe the new compact crossover will be the one replacing it. Turns out we were right - Skoda officially announced that the 2018 Karoq is the Yeti’s successor.

After a long wait, the company is finally ready to unveil the compact crossover, as the Yeti’s replacement. Not only did it get a new name, it seems to also have been influenced by the Kodiaq’s design, albeit a mini version of it, especially at first glance.

The Czech company announced that the Karoq will be available in the second half of 2017.

Only recently, it was rumoured that BMW has been putting their time and energy into venturing and coming up with brand new niches to launch into the global automotive markets. Lately, we have observed that almost everything has been dished out from the German automaker including the Gran Tourers, Active Tourers and Gran Coupes, however they haven't released vehicles that can go head to head against the Audi Allroad or the Mercedes Benz E Class All Terrain. Audi has been releasing Allroad units that are largely influenced by the A6 Avant models ever since '99.

It was reported that back at the BMW HQ, there are new things occurring, but they are apparently planning to target Tesla and the prime market. The 3 Series GT replacement is rumoured to be an electric car, and the 6er is reviving the 8 series trademark but with a consequential price increase. So it’s predicted that the 5 Series will not come at par with the classic A6 Allroad idea.

Now, Sports utility vehicles are creating lots of buzz in the automotive industry. This is why some automakers resorted to tricking their potential customers with high-riding wagons including the Volvo V90 Cross Country and Mercedes-Benz Benz E-Class All Terrain. Now the problem is that wagons are now slowly losing their appeal with the American consumers.

Everyone, meet the new presidential car. Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed the latest DS 7 Crossback as his official car during the recent inauguration. It was barely a couple of months ago since Groupe PSA introduced the new crossover but it wasn’t until the parade that the public finally saw what the new crossover looks like. Otherwise known as Distinctive Series/Different Spirit, the DS marque actually had been Citroen’s sub brand from 2009 until it became an independent brand in 2014. No matter how deeply rooted DS Cars are with Citroen models, it is worth noting that these two have very distinct qualities when it comes to manufacturing and engineering.

The presidential car certainly has more special features than any regular unit ever built by the premium car brand. Apart from the soft top roof cover, the custom designed SUV comes with a flag holder on one side. Atelier Maury meanwhile designed its Black leather interior which matches the Ink Blue exterior paint perfectly. To complete the premium look, the presidential SUV comes equipped with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels in two tone finish plus gold detailing.

Despite the lack of details about its powertrain, the French automaker assures that the presidential car has all the latest technologies similar to the upcoming production version. One of which is the highly advanced DS Active Scan Suspension with built-in camera as well as the DS Connected Pilot for autonomous driving.

Well, you guys don’t have to wait too long for its debut. And even before Thursday, a sneak peek of the compact crossover has been posted online to ease the anticipation. Though the photos are much of a tease, despite the fact that one of them is just a silhouette, and the others are still in their camouflage, we can sort of imagine how it looks like already. First of all, we can tell that it is a mini version of its big brother - like a Kodiaq built on a 75-percent scale, and both models resemble one another a lot.

The Karoq was built with slightly larger upper headlights, and the lower ones have been reshaped. Its rear end has new LED taillights that extend onto the upper area of the electric trunk lid. Like I said, it is very similar to the Kodiaq with only subtle changes.

Inside the cabin, the Karoq will be getting Skoda’s newest infotainment system in glass - like the one in the facelifted Octavia and Kodiaq. Aside from that, it will be equipped with an all-digital instrument cluster which is something new from the Czech automaker. Other details include an electric parking brake and glossy black bits, and of course, LED ambient lighting in ten different colours that customers can choose from.

Previously, we have read reports about the upcoming small crossover produced by the South Korean automaker Hyundai. The first official teaser revealed LED accented sexy headlights, main lamp units located down low with the taillights fitted with LED to complete the matching look. Named after a famous American location, the Hyundai Kona was recently spotted donning an undisguised look. Is the official reveal close at hand?

Although a reveal is expected to happen sometime this summer, Hyundai's soon-to-be-released Kona has been seen without any cover during a promotional video shoot in Lisbon, Portugal. By the looks of it, the new crossover is looking swanky.

From the images, we can observe some familiar design patterns but nevertheless it is one of the more captivating design coming from the South Korean automaker.

Acura first introduced the CDX at the 2016 Auto China, and today it is being sold exclusively across their showrooms in China. But recent news from all over the web is saying that Acura is considering bringing the CDX to the United States.

What’s with the change of heart? John Ikeda, Vice President and General Manager of Acura US told Wards Auto in an interview (during a ’18 TLX media event) that the CDX seems like “a model that interests a lot of our people, so we have our R&D guys looking into the possibility”. He then added that it won’t be that simple as the CDX was designed especially for the Chinese market and this may not pass the United States regulatory standards. So it isn’t shipping that may cause problems but more of the regulatory requirements. However, this matter is currently under discussion.

The CDX is a small luxury CUV based on the Honda HR-V. Under the hood, the CDX has a turbocharged 1.5 liter four cylinder engine (the same engine found in a Civic and the CR-V) that produces 180 horsepower and 177 pound feet of torque, powered by an eight speed dual clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
