The 2017 GMC Canyon Denali made its public debut at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Set to start selling in late 2016, the 2017 Canyon Denali demonstrates how GMC is able to give the Canyon midsize truck the Denali treatment. In case you don’t know, Denali is what GMC refers to as its best expression of its styling, performance, and luxury.
This moniker is a reference to Mount Denali, the topmost peak in the North American region. According to Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing, the Canyon is the “first and only” premium midsize truck in its segment that delivers unrivalled capability and fuel economy as well as optimum refinement and handling.
Aldred also said that the 2017 Canyon Denali represents an improvement over the long line of vehicles that have had the Denali nameplate since it was launched almost 17 years ago. Numerous awards have been given to the Denali name because of its unique style, elegant interior, and valuable features.Read the entire article 2017 GMC Canyon Denali introduced at LA Auto Show
The 2015 GMC Canyon is already hitting the dealerships as deliveries started this month and looking at the numbers we must admit that it will be a hit, just like the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Still, GMC chief Duncan Aldred wants to improve the deliveries numbers and add a Denali version of the Canyon.
According to Aldred, engineers and designers are already working on that. Although there are no details, we expect the GMC Canyon Denali to arrive with the same enhancements seen on the other Denali models including a bolder grille and aluminum interior trim.
If you don’t already know, the 2015 GMC Canyon is currently priced from $21,880, including the $925 destination charges.Read the entire article GMC already working on a Denali version of the 2015 Canyon
American automaker General Motors is looking forward in regards to the Buick's new luxury sub brand future performance, if it will be at par with the success of GMC's line-up of Denali badged vehicles.
GMC'S Denali line-up, with its mixed chromed-up exteriors and French-stitched leather bolstered seat has worked wonders and is considered as the second U.S. luxury trademark for General Motors. The reported sales of the Denali was in the same level as the Acura and Cadillac the previous month and generated a higher transaction costs than Lexus and Audi.
Now GM is hopeful that the Avenir can replicate the GMC's Denali's success. The new luxury sub brand made its debut with its 2018 Enclave crossover at the New York Auto Show. GM will also apply the same formula utilized at Buick to the Avenir, hoping to add a dauntless grille, flashier wheels and a more comfy interior that will be cleansed by cabin-air ionizer.Read the entire article Can Buick Avenir follow in the footsteps of GMC Denali?
The upscale version of the GMC Yukon body-on-frame sport utility vehicle – the GMC Yukon Denali – has been refreshed for the 2018 model year. It now sports a new grille for a more expressive front end, a new interior trim for more depth, as well as a new 10-speed transmission for a more refined performance.
Although this is a refresh of the GMC Yukon Denali, it is enticing enough to attract new and even returning customers. First off, the 2018 iteration of the GMC Yukon Denali has a new grille that is flanked by HID headlamps and LED Signature Lighting. This is an evolved version of the iconic Denali grille, featuring a more sculpted and layered appearance.
Matt Noone, director for Global GMC Exterior Design, remarked that the new grille advances the design legacy that was set by original Yukon Denali in 1999. He noted that while the new grille features a more exciting and sophisticated design, it allows the Yukon Denali to be immediately recognizable as a member of the GMC Denali family.Read the entire article 2018 GMC Yukon Denali gets new grille, interior trim and 10-speed automatic transmission
General Motors crossover retail sales grew an impressive 20% last month, and recorded a 15% hike for the first 4 months of this year thanks to the performance of today's GMC line-up. Its sales are anticipated to further increase around summer with the launching of the brand new 2018 GMC Terrain. Now the American automaker has officially announced the pricing details of its upcoming crossover.
After 9 years on the market, GMC has finally decided to revamp its two-row Terrain, considered to be a slightly swankier variant of the Chevrolet's Equinox. The given price tag will get you the base SL model, which boasts of features such as proximity key with push button start, a leather covered steering wheel, LED taillights and daytime running lights. The next-gen Terrain will have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $25,970, which includes the $975 destination charge. Terrain SL is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5 L 4-cylinder engine that will produce around 170 hp delivered to the front wheels by a 9 speed automatic transmission.
Those who prefer all-wheel drive will have to dish out $28,795 for the special luxury edition (SLE) trim. This option will require an additional $1,750 to the standard price. By choosing the SLE, buyers get the turbo-diesel 1.6 L engine that is paired with a 6 speed automatic transmission. Its 137 hp diesel inline 4 forces a solid 240 lb-ft of torque, a hugely impressive feat. However, it costs an extra $3,770 to get the SLE. The price rises to $34,315 if buyers opt for the AWD unit.Read the entire article Pricing starts at $25,970 for 2018 GMC Terrain
According to a General Motors (GM) Company executive, the automobile manufacturer will raise the production rate of its Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup, which has suffered from low supply since it was launched for customer sales 18 months ago.
Production and assembly of the Chevrolet Colorado are being held at GM's plant in Wentzville, Missouri, where its sibling vehicle GMC Canyon is also produced. According to Chevrolet Director of Truck Marketing Sandor Piszar, there is a "hard tooling capacity on the line.”
To meet the demand for the trucks, Piszar said that the company will increase the production capacity at its Wentzville plant. Additionally, GM Wentzville plant spokesman Darin Copeland confirmed that the company is working on the line speed to produce more trucks.Read the entire article GM expands production of Chevrolet Colorado, Canyon at Wentzville Plant to meet global demand
GMC reveals that its two-wheel drive 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has been rated by the U.S Environmental Protection Agency with a 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway with a 25 mpg combined. The four-wheel drive version meanwhile obtained a 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway rating with a 23 mpg combined.
Aside from these fuel economy ratings, the Canyon has also been given a “Certificate of Conformity” by the EPA. What this means is that after the testing and evaluation of the Canyon’s emission control system, the EPA states that there were no concerns or any issues found. Duncan Aldred, who is the vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing, shares that the Canyon was made for customers who prefer smart-sized premium pickups that is not only highly efficient by quiet and capable too.
With the addition of the Duramax diesel engine, this allows customers to have additional options for their vehicles. This is what it means to have the company’s professional grade ethos, concludes Aldred. The fuel economy of the Canyon is the best for its segment and offers not just amazing mileage but high trailering ratings.Read the entire article 2016 GMC Canyon diesel gets 31 mpg highway rating from EPA

General Motors had a pleasant surprise when its Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups sold very quickly but with it comes the dilemma of having to meet demand. Its latest move to add production at its St. Louis-area truck plant was to cut an unpaid lunch break. GM had reshuffled its schedule to eliminate the production lull between shifts of 6 minutes.
In a day with three shifts, doing this translates to an extra 18 minutes of production. In a year, that’s 3,500 more trucks built. This is just one example of how car companies are finding creative ways to boost production from their plants instead of pouring more investment into new factories.
GM has been vigorously working to fill the high demand for the midsize pickups and the Chevy Express and GMC Savana commercial vans, which also roll out from Wentzville. A plant worker said that GM is hiring up to 1,000 "flex" workers. Most of them will fill shifts on Saturday and Sunday.Read the entire article GM cuts lunch break to boost output of Colorado, Canyon pickups
The return of General Motors to offering smaller pickups in the U.S. has revived a declining market segment but it appears now that its new trucks are hurting sales of its higher-priced models. The Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon were launched last autumn. Since then, the midsize pickup segment has increased from 1.4% last summer to over 2% of the total U.S. car and light truck market.
According to some industry officials, the segment may double the annual sales to 500,000 units, which would have made up 3% of the market last year. IHS Automotive analyst Tom Libby said that there are less positive trends that come with the growing figures for the Colorado and Canyon. GM cars and trucks make up 9 of the top 10 formerly owned by those who buy the Colorado and Canyon.
IHS data show that those who own full-size Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks account for over 16% of the buyers who switched into both smaller GM pickups. Libby said that these data are “ominous” and that there could be a deeper problem related to the possibility of affecting the sales of higher-margin models.Read the entire article Doubts surround success of GM’s Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon
GMC is offering a special edition of the Canyon -- the Nightfall. GMC will make the Canyon Nightfall available on both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive SLE crew cab models. Covered in Onyx Black, the special edition will be launched in the second quarter of 2015, General Motors said in a statement, with pricing to be announced closer to the availability date.
Prior to its launch, the Nightfall will be shown at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show. The Nightfall package builds on the standard equipment on the SLE, including a distinct black grille, black assist steps, factory spray-in bedliner and 18-inch multi-spoke aluminum wheels, as well as a polished exhaust tip, automatic climate control and remote start.
The package means a lot of savings than purchasing each feature separately. GMC said that over than 40 percent of the initial orders for the Canyon include at least one pick from the accessory collection it developed for the truck.Read the entire article 2015 GMC Canyon Nightfall Special Edition debuts in Detroit
With the addition of a new 8-speed automatic transmission, the updated 2015 Yukon XL Denali and Yukon Denali from GMC now lead the market in terms of fuel economy, horsepower and torque. The 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engines of the Yukon XL Denali and Yukon Denali are now paired with the Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission. This addition makes the Denali more fuel-efficient than the 6-speed automatic.
The two-wheel drive Yukon Denali has an estimated EPA highway mileage of 22 mpg whereas the four-wheel drive now has an EPA city mileage estimate of 15 mpg. Within its category in the market, the Yukon Denali is unrivaled in delivering efficiency and power .The engine gives a peak of 420 horsepower with 460 lb-ft of maximum torque. This results in a highway fuel economy that is at par or even better than the 6-cylinder or 8-cylinder engines of its competitors.
The Yukon Denali’s new 8L90 transmission has smaller steps between its gears making the engine more efficiently leverage the peak power bands. With a wide gearing, this allows the use of a lower rear axle ratio of 3.23:1, reducing both fuel consumption and engine speed while cruising on the highway. The improvement in fuel economy has not compromised in any way the capability and comfort expected from a Yukon.Read the entire article 2015 GMC Yukon Denali, Yukon XL Denali receive new 8-speed automatic transmission
Although things were going smoothly and GM received over 40,000 orders for the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups, it appears that the company will have to delay the big moment of delivery due to an airbag defect. According to the company, a safety recall to fix an airbag defect stopped the deliveries just two weeks after they began.
In a letter sent to dealers, General Motors said that there are problems with the driver’s side airbag connections that were wired incorrectly during the manufacturing process. In the next few days, GM will instruct dealers to reprogram the airbag’s sensing and diagnostic module with new software and once they did this, the deliveries can resume.
The company declined to give any details regarding how many pickups were affected but according to GM spokesman Alan Adler, 49 vehicles are already in customer possession. Still, the vehicles are safe to drive but for those who want their pickup fix and don’t want to wait, GM will offer free loaner vehicles.Read the entire article 2015 Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon deliveries halted due to an airbag defect

The 2015 GMC Canyon made its debut today ahead of the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, showing a bolder, more chiseled look. As you may know already, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is sporty and sleek, but the 2015 GMC Canyon actually looks like a smaller GMC Sierra full-sized pickup, but only by design of course.
According to General Motors, the new vehicle was designed in order to attract buyers of full-sized pickups from other brands. GM North America President Mark Reuss said that GM wants to “steal people from big pickup trucks in other brands with the GMC”. Built on GM’s global mid-sized truck platform, which made its debut in 2011 with the Chevrolet Colorado in Thailand.
Still, thanks to some extensive work made by GM engineers to ready the body-on-frame, the GMC Canyon is 40 percent lighter than the truck sold overseas. In terms of design, the 2015 GMC Canyon features a more premium look than the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and it comes with standard C-shaped LED daytime running lights and the well-known body-colored front grille with the signature horizontal chrome bars.Read the entire article 2014 Detroit Auto Show: 2015 GMC Canyon officially revealed

Officials have confirmed that it is developing a next-generation GMC Canyon in a press conference. We know that Chevrolet intended to sell a successor to the Colorado compact pickup in the U.S. but GMC (General Motors’ truck brand) had delayed giving confirmation if there will be a follow-up to its Colorado twin.
In a prepared statement, Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick/GMC marketing, said that the fuel economy of its full-size trucks continue to improve. He also said that there are customers who like the truck for its functionality but they may not require a full-size pickup. He expressed confidence that many pickup buyers will be satisfied by a new, agile, and efficient mid-size Canyon that it will soon present.
Previous Canyons have not sold well. GMC has sold just 7063 units of the current Canyon pickup so far. For the same period, Chevrolet was able to sell 29,775 Colorados, which basically are the same except for some slight badging and trim details. This trend isn’t a coincidence too. In 2011, a total of 31,026 units were sold while GMC only got to sell 9590 Canyons.Read the entire article GM officials confirm next-generation GMC Canyon
