While Mercedes-Benz is still gearing up to unveil the Mercedes-AMG G63 at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this month, well-known tuner Lumma Design is already previewing a bespoke tuning program for the new AMG version of the Mercedes G-Class. This preview comes in the form of the new Widebody Lumma G-Class.
As its name indicates, the Widebody Lumma G-Class is fitted with a widebody kit, as complemented by heavy-duty alloy wheels and a number of performance upgrades. It is derived from the AMG G63, which boasts of delivering up to 585 hp of output and up to 850 Nm. While Lumma Design might not be the only tuner that would take on the new AMG G63, its extensive personalization program for the luxurious G-Class performance flagship could be very appealing to those who have extra money to spend.
The new AMG G63 performance flagship is actually a fusion of robustness, near indestructibility, passion, perfection and power. This is why Lumma chose this performance flagship as the base for the Lumma CLR G770 widebody kit. One of Lumma Design’s latest creation, the CLR G770 is composed of different parts and components made from ultra-light carbon fiber. These include carbon fiber body panels as well as a full carbon fiber bonnet that features specially designed vents. Right now, the G63 is probably the highest spec of the G Class that customers can buy, but Mercedes-AMG will allow you to have an even cooler G63 if you are willing to spend a little more. A few weeks ago, we witnessed the sinister looking Edition 1, and now, the Affalterbach is showing us the optional Night Package for the reputable off roader in the AMG variant.
Though the aforementioned special edition model is only available for 12 months, the Night Package is not time sensitive. In fact, it will be available for the G63 for as long as we know. As its name suggests, the package includes a number of black styling elements on the outside. The only exception here is that customers who get the car in black as a base colour cannot order this package. We do think that this makes a lot of sense because then the accents will not be noticeable.
When customers tick the “Night Package” box, the turn signals will now have a black tint, while the side mirror caps, and the outer ring of the spare wheel will also get an Obsidian Black finish. Some parts of the front and rear bumpers, and the side skirts, will be finished in black too. It was a few weeks ago that Mercedes-Benz revealed the G-Class SUV to the public. And as early as now, they have already surprised us with the more powerful AMG version of it. It is definitely what we expected it to be - except it came earlier than we anticipated. Check out this 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63. Despite its huge, boxy size, this SUV is capable of accelerating to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds. That makes it almost a full second faster than its high-performance predecessor.
You are probably wondering where all this power comes from. Well, apart from the obvious, which is the ample AMG supplied power boost, the same 4.0 liter biturbo V8 has been tweaked so it can carry out 577 horsepower (430 kilowatts). That definitely sounds like a lot despite the fact that it is actually 14 horsepower (10 kilowatts) more than the G63. But aside from that, it is also because the G63 also lost a significant amount of weight, and I mean 375 pounds (174 kilograms) to be specific.
Moreover, the G63 also has a whopping 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-metres) of torque, making it 100 more than the GT R and 60 more than its predecessor. We all saw the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class as it made its very first appearance weeks ago at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Though we only witnessed it very recently, the automaker confirms that we will soon be seeing more unique AMG versions of it.

The current generation of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class that has been in existence since 1990 (W463) is set to hit the end of the road soon. But it remains to be a favorite base among a number of tuners, including Brabus. In fact, Brabus has teamed up with footwear designer Jon Buscemi to create an exclusive version of the G-Class -- the new Brabus 850 Buscemi Edition -- as unveiled to the global public at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show.
As the name of this all-terrain creation indicates, it comes with a massive 850 hp (625 kW or 838 bhp) of output at 5,400 rpm. This comes courtesy of a Brabus 850 6.0 twin-turbo V8 engine which had its stock displacement of 5,461 cc increased to 5,912 cc (333 cubic inches to 361 cubic inches).

While the V12-powered Mercedes-AMG G65 is considered as the most powerful factory-built unit that anyone can get with its 621hp output, the creation by Ares Design offers even more power. Certain tuners are known for wanting to break ground and test limits. For this upscale-looking beast, there’s Modena-based coachbuilder Ares Design to thank. This tuner was actually founded in 2015 by former CEO of Lotus, Dany Bahar.
Just recently, Ares Design revealed the X-Raid. It is a dramatic looking coachbuilt G-Class that produces 760 horsepower (566 kilowatts). That is almost 140 horsepower more than the factory built G65. The Ares X-Raid was based on the Mercedes-AMG G63, and it even uses the same 5.5 liter V8 by AMG. But it was tuned to perform even better than what it can already do. As for performance, the X-Raid has a limited top speed of 155 miles per hour (249 kilometers per hour).
As mentioned earlier, the X-Raid has quite an interesting design. Though it may look like a heavy car, the body panels were made with lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum, which cuts down around 440 pounds (200 kilograms) compared to the original factory version. It now sits on a set of 22-inch forged wheels especially made by Ares Design. And for the interior, it gets a custom made X-Raid steering wheel, and now has a “completely new cockpit”. We all know about the Mercedes-AMG G63 and its capabilities, and we must say that it is one powerful SUV. However, it seems like one tuning company is still not satisfied with what it could already offer, so it decided to beef it up with an even bigger powertrain. But we have to say that German aftermarket tuner Posaidon did the right thing when it decided to upgrade the G63 in terms of looks and performance.
Now called the Posaidon G63 RS 850, it continues to have the same 5.5 liter biturbo V8 engine under its hood, except it has been tweaked to carry out as much as 850 horsepower (633 kilowatts) and 995 pound-feet (1,350 Newton-metres) of torque. This allows for a 3.6 second time when doing the 0-62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) sprint. The boosted engine now has quite an impressive top speed of 285 kmh (177 mph). For the sake of comparison, the G63’s original 5.5 liter engine only gave out 571 horsepower (425 kW) and 560 pound-feet (760 Nm) of torque from the factory.
Thanks to a remapped ECU with upgraded internals to the seven speed AMG Speedshift G-Tronic gearbox that made the performance upgrade possible. Other than that, the chassis also got a little bit of an upgrade, which now features an adaptive damping system with three varying settings. The modified Mercedes-AMG G63 now comes with a set of 10.5 x 22 inch alloy wheels that wear 285/40R22 high performance tires. If you fancy owning any automaker's limited edition releases then the Land of the Rising Sun is the place to be. Following the anticipated release of the CLA 180 donned in a Star Wars theme, Mercedes-Benz is back at it again with another limited edition in a more appealing AMG guise. The German automaker will be releasing a one of a kind G63 AMG 50th Anniversary Edition to celebrate Mercedes-AMG's 50 years in the automotive biz. Been thinking of getting yourself a 2017 Mercedes-AMG G63 or 65? If you have, then maybe you would like to get something more special. The company just revealed two new versions of the said models. The Exclusive Edition will cost you around $177,978 (€163,125) for the G63 and $314,100 (€287,658) for the G65. The latter is currently the second most expensive Mercedes out there. It follows the G650 Landaulet (with a hefty price tag of around $527,400 or €500,000).
The Exclusive Edition is nearly €12,000 more expensive than the base model. So what comes with the extra twelve grand?
The off-road truck comes with stainless steel underguard and AMG-branded side strips. Aside from that, the company will provide buyers with a spare wheel cover that comes in the same colour as the truck, and aluminum rub strip inserts. Of course, they’ll top this off with a fancy set of 21-inch 5-twin-spoke ceramic-polished wheels. If buyers aren’t into that, they can instead get a set of 21-inch wheels in black finish with high-sheen rim flanges and side rib strips accented with carbon fiber (for the same price, I believe). As Maserati celebrates 100 years of its automotive existence, it is unveiling a new anniversary model derived from its legendary Maserati MC12 that made a name in the racing world. This new model is a piece of automotive modification work realized by edo competition Motorsport GmbH, a technical development partner for Maserati.
The choice of transforming the Maserati MC12 racing icon into a road-going anniversary model does not come as a surprise. The Maserati MC12 is an awesome racing car by itself, having earned around 19 wins between 2005 and 2010. In addition, the Maserati MC12 also grabbed the FIA GT1 world championship in 2005. Converting a Maserati MC12 into a road-going unit was a feat that edo achieved in 2005, which could be a reason why Maserati turned to the motor sports company for the project. The result of this project – led by project manager Maurizio Leschiutta -- is the one-off edo MC12 VC.
As a starter, the edo MC12 VC was derived from a 2004 Maserati MC12 with a carbon fiber monocoque-style body. The project team made sure that the modifications to the specs of the MC12 Corsa are as slight as possible to deliver a very sporty yet road-going performance. Edo specially tuned the chassis MC12 to allow it to perform both on the streets and the race course while installing a lifting system for the front. In addition, edo installed its own Sport exhaust system to make the edo MC12 VC conform to the applicable noise emission limits, employing a flap system and radio control in the prices. Mercedes-Benz introduced the G63 AMG 6X6 back in 2013 and made quite a buzz with its six-wheeled vehicle which was built especially for the Middle East market. However, Brabus took things even further when it unveiled its B63S-700 G63 AMG 6X6 at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Its version boosted the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine from 544 hp (400 kW) and 700 Nm of torque to an impressive 700 hp (515 kW) and 960 Nm of torque.

The standard version of the G63 AMG 6x6 is powered by a 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine that delivers 544 hp (400 kW) and 700 Nm of torque. Mansory reworked the AMG 8 cylinder twin turbo engine and installed genuine racing components as well as a new exhaust system.

German Special Customs (GSC) is known for its impressive body kits made for Mercedes-Benz vehicles and once again the company didn’t disappoint us. GSC showed today their customized Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG and as expected the result is remarkable. In order to make the design even more aggressive, German Special Customs installed a broad bumper bar, new front grille made of carbon fiber, a new set of LED daytime running lights, a new front hood with carbon fiber inserts, new side sills and enlarged fenders.
At the rear we find a new bumper with integrated air diffuser, trapezoidal tailpipes made of stainless steel and a carbon fiber cover for the spare tire. The body kit is rounded up with the side mirrors made of carbon and fine ventilation slits on the engine hood. Under the hood, we find a 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine with 620 hp.
For those who don’t know, the standard version delivers 544 hp, but thanks to the modified exhaust system and reworked software GSC managed to boost its power. The power of the engine is delivered to the road via the 23-inch forged rims wrapped in soecial tires. Brabus is out to showcase what its 'B63S-700' performance kit can do for Mercedes-Benz's niche model – the G63 AMG 6x6. On display at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Brabus B63S-700 6x6 was made to be even more potent and exclusive. The G63 AMG 6x6 is already quite impressive, with standard versions capable of delivering 536bhp and 561bhp, distributed to all six wheels through an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission.
However, Brabus was able to raise this figure to 691bhp and 708lb ft. These major improvements of 155bhp and 147lb ft, are owed to the installation of a couple of new turbochargers, a modified ECU, high-flow catalytic convertors, a sports exhaust system and the extra heat shielding for the intake system.
Brabus also tweaked the six-wheeled 3775kg powerhouse to be able to accelerate from a standstill to 62mph in 7.4sec. But then, its top speed remains at 99mph. The speed was limited to protect the 37-inch off-road tires instead of the powertrain. Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled today the G63 AMG 6X6, a near-series show vehicle that promises to take the G-Class to another level. As expected, the vehicle is based on the G63 AMG, which means it is powered by the 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine delivering 544 hp or 400 kw and 700 Nm of torque.
The engine is bolted to the AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic automatic transmission paired with the front drive system from the G63 AMG and a rear twin drive train from the 6x6 version, which proved its reliability in service with users such as the Australian army.
