2017 Honda Civic Hatchback boasts bold redesign, more power, better efficiency

Honda is one of the forerunners in this highly evolving automotive world. Forty years seem to be not too long ago especially for a brand that lives up to its original concept. The Civic’s long-standing heritage has proven that it still is “a car for all people, a car for the world”. Talking about evolving, Honda moves forward with its latest 10th generation Civic.

This step is considerably important in today’s highly saturated C-segment as well as in keeping up with the company’s much talked about development program. But since everything seems to get better with time, perhaps it’s only right to expect better driving dynamics along with more distinctive styling, versatile practicality and sportier design. You get the picture. The 10th generation Honda Civic has finally arrived.

The Civic after all has earned the title as the most popular Honda model in Europe. Simply put, when Europeans think of Honda, the first thing that comes into their minds is the Civic. For that same reason, the team behind the “rejuvenated” Honda Civic applied new ideas and strategies in building its new body. Then of course, part of that is to come up with better chassis and aerodynamics design (so as not to disappoint their loyal customers).

The Honda Civic hatchback is sportier after having received dynamic and styling enhancements for the 2014 model year. However, the improvements are far more relevant under the hood. The ninth-generation Civic’s electronic power steering was retuned to make it have a more precise feel at higher speeds. The front and rear dampers were modified to boost body control.

And to have better overall handling, the toe and camber of the rear suspension were realigned. These improvements were made in response to feedback taken from its buyers and Honda dealerships. The engineering team at Honda’s Swindon base made the revisions after being informed by the headquarters in Japan that they had autonomy in configuring the car to suit European preferences.

Honda’s goal is for the standard hatchback’s image to be a bit sportier to align it with the top-of-the-line Civic Type R performance variant, which is set to be released in 2015. The Civic hatchback received slight modifications to its interior and exterior.
