2018 Lexus LS 500 F Sport unveiled at New York Auto Show

Japanese automaker Lexus recently unveiled its all new flagship sedan, the 2018 LS 500. The eye candy vehicle made its debut in Detroit and will be followed by the hybrid LS 500h in Geneva Auto Show. Geared for unveiling in New York will be the next level LS 500 F Sport treatment that allegedly boasts of modified design from its predecessor, chassis tuning and more stopping power.

Since its debut 30 years ago, the Lexus LS has stood out from its rival thanks to its power and ride qualities, making it the smoothest and the quietest in the global market. However, the Lexus LS 500 F Sport isn't made to be the most performance conforming vehicle coming from Lexus- unlike the F models that are the GS F and RC F.

The F Sport is more of a middle ground performer between Lexus cars and the F models. But don't be fooled as this sports car also packs a punch. Lexus' F sport packages are made for regular units and offers sharper handling aside from ensuring utmost comfort for the driver and its passengers.

Lexus once again intensifies its product portfolio with a new LS F Sport –shortly after coming out with an all-new LS 500 and LS 500h at this year’s auto shows. Basically, this new Lexus are for those who want to get more punch and depth to the usual LS 500 sedan.

The 2018 Lexus LS F Sport will ride on the brand’s premium GA-L platform (Lexus’ global architecture for luxury vehicles). At the very least, the Japanese brand is expecting the LS F Sport to benefit from the GA-L’s responsive and agile performance, while keeping the same cabin quietness and smooth ride that are synonymous to all LS models.

It can be recalled that Lexus made a promise to bring the most engaging driving experience on the new LS sedan. The GA-L platform, after all, happens to have the stiffest chassis it has ever developed in years.

Based on the RC 350 Coupe, the new Lexus comes with exclusive design elements, which are enhanced by driving performances. According to the Japanese company, the RC 350 F Sport’s dynamic upgrades include Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and the available Lexus Dynamic Handling (LDH) system.

In terms of design, the RC F Sport comes with the model-specific ‘F’ mesh design, unique 19-inch F Sport mesh alloy wheels which feature machine-finish and dark metallic paint. In order to enhance the dynamics and sport character of the 2013 RX 450h, Lexus unveiled a new F Sport version. The new sport pack offers a more aggressive frontal styling showing a new front bumper with a bigger lower section, new F Sport mesh design for the upper and lower grilles of the bumper, front wing F Sport badging and a new set of exclusive 19" shaded alloy wheels. The interior shows a Black and White Grey colour scheme - steel silver painted trim inserts and a black ceiling give the interior a more cockpit-like feel and aid driver concentration.

Moreover, the F Sport models receive the lateral performance damper system, capable to absorb and minimise undesirable body vibrations and offer a more linear steering feel and contribute to improved ride comfort. In lieu of conventional fixed bracing, the system features a front performance damper connecting the left and right front suspension towers, and a rear damper connecting the left and right sides of the rear lower back panel.

Up front, the new Lexus RX 450h now features a more characteristic appearance thanks to the spindle-shaped layout of its upper and lower grilles. This styling evolution is more noticeable on the F Sport model of the RX 450h, in which the upper and the lower grilles come with a dedicated mesh treatment while its front bumper is now deeper and more vertical.
