The latest Fast and the Furious movie will feature the 2013 Subaru BRZ. The rear-drive sports car made quite an impression at the Motor Trend’s World’s Greatest Drag Race 2. There are reports that Subaru has given as many as five BRZs to the “Fast and the Furious 6” crew. It’s probable that at least one will get a full Fast and Furious garb, which includes a full body kit, upgraded wheels, and a lowered suspension.
The main revisions are found under the hood. Even if the stock 2013 BRZ delivers 200 hp and 151 lb-ft from a 2.0-liter I-4, a turbocharger or a supercharger would surely improve the car’s record from its tested 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds with a six-speed manual transmission.
In addition, it’s rumored that Fast Six cars such as the BRZ may be featured together with actors like Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who started in the most recent Fast and Furious movie.Read the entire article 2013 Subaru BRZ to be featured in Fast and the Furious 6 movie
If you were not able to buy the limited run Subaru Type RA when it came out, there is no reason for you to feel bad as the automaker is coming out with a slightly more powerful version of the said model. In fact, the 2019 Subaru WRX STI will be getting an extra 5 horsepower, now totaling up to 310 horsepower, from the 2.5 liter turbocharged engine. Essentially, it now matches the output of the special edition. Torque, on the other hand, will remain the same at 290 pound feet (393 Newton metres).
According to automotive blog, The Truth About Cars, they were able to get a hold of a VIN decoder document for the 2019 Subaru WRX STI sent to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In that same document, you will find the 310 horsepower model with the four cylinder engine. Along with this is also the regular WRX with its 2.0 liter flat four engine that produces 268 horsepower, which is what came out before.
If you feel like the current WRX / WRX STI has become outdated, don’t you worry, as the wait for the next generation isn’t too long. According to our sources, the said model should come out sometime in 2020. That’s not all. Subaru also has plans to keep the manual gearbox alive to keep purists happy.Read the entire article Subaru WRX STI gets power boost for 2019
Subaru ensures that the 2019 Forester doubles up on traits that crossover buyers look for. In other words, it offers more cargo capacity and improved fuel economy. This model debuts at the 2018 New York Auto Show and will go on sale later this year.
When looking at the 2019 model, you probably will not notice any changes when it comes to styling. In fact, the only difference would be the newer shapes and lines, new lighting designs and the new set of wheels - either 17 or 18 inch for each trim level. One think you cannot see is the new Subaru Global Platform (SGP). The Forester’s wheelbase has been upgraded, making it 1.2 inches longer. Therefore, legroom increases by 1.4 inches too. In fact, the headroom and shoulder room have been increased too. Now, cargo space is up by 76.1 cubic feet when the seats are down.
To make it easier to fit things in the back, Subaru engineers worked hard to widen the cargo door by 5.3 inches. At the same time, they made the cargo floor flatter than before. The rear doors now open wider and the C pillar has a steeper angle, making loading and unloading quick.Read the entire article 2019 Subaru Forester is powered by 2.5-liter Boxer engine, also more spacious, efficient
There is nothing more exciting happening this month than the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon - especially with all the concepts that are being uncovered. Apart from the Toyota GR Super Sport with almost 1,000 horsepower, the next one in line is the new Subaru Viziv Performance STI. In other words, it means a new WRX STI is being developed as the concept provides a number of things to come as far as the sporty sedan’s next generation.
So what can we expect? Well, the automaker has not shared a lot of technical details but they did say that the concept will give us an idea of what the future will look like for Subaru - with their goal to deliver enjoyment and peace of mind to its customers.
When looking at the images, the front fascia shows a more aggressive and race-ready Viziv Performance concept. The bumper now looks beefier, while the alloy wheels look bigger. The quad exhaust in the rear is quite prominent, as well as the massive rear wing with side extensions. Overall, it looks a lot like the concept we saw last October at the Tokyo Motor Show, but with race ready bits and pieces.Read the entire article Subaru unveils Viziv Performance STI Concept at 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon
During the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show in late October and early November, Subaru unveiled the Viziv Performance Concept. Described by the carmaker a sports sedan that builds on its race as well as on its rally heritage, the attention-grabbing Viziv Performance Concept provides a glimpse into the next generation of the Subaru WRX. Now, it seems the next-generation Subaru WRX would be heavily influenced by the design of the Viziv Performance concept.
As revealed by company design chief Mamoru Ishii to British auto magazine Autocar, Subaru is expected to release the next-generation WRX sports sedan in 2020. Ishii noted that when the Japanese carmaker unveiled the Viziv Performance at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, the concept received very positive feedback. Thanks to the affirmative response gained by the concept, Subaru decided to transfer many of its design and styling cues to the next-gen WRX, Ishii added. This means customers could expect a number of similarities between the Viziv Performance concept and the next generation of the WRX sports sedan when the latter is launched to the market by the end of the decade.
The Viziv Performance concept is gifted with an aggressive yet elegant front end. Its decidedly aggressive front grille, taut body shape, sporty bonnet scoop and angular wheel arches as well as flared front fenders and sleekly sculpted waist all point to the kind of performance the concept might offer while pointing to Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design direction. Overall, the Viziv Performance concept features a geometrical shape that would really look great when carried to the new Subaru concept. As Ishii remarked, these design elements would allow the next-gen Subaru WRX to look fast even when at a standstill.Read the entire article Next-generation Subaru WRX to adopt styling of Viziv Performance Concept
Subaru customers and fans in the United States have been somewhat envious of their counterparts in Japan. This is because Subaru, most of the time, launches high-performance special edition models exclusive for the Japanese market. But this time, American fans and customers are getting what they’ve long wanted.
This coming spring 2018, Subaru will commence sales of not just one, but two hardcore limited edition models – the 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA and the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS. Each model will be available with just 500 units, with the WRX STI Type RA priced at $48,995 and the BRZ tS at $33,495. Prices exclude the $860 destination and delivery cost.
The 2018 WRX STI Type RA offers higher levels of performance through its reduced weight as well as upgrades made to its engine and suspension. Its 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine delivers 310 hp thanks to a new cold air intake, high flow performance exhaust, a retuned ECU and stronger pistons. The gearing of its six-speed manual transmission has also been revised.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru WRX STI Type RA and BRZ tS arrive in the US this spring, pricing details released
The teasing is finally over as Subaru has finally taken the wraps off its largest vehicle. It has recently introduced the final production version of the 2019 Subaru Ascent large SUV – including its specs and capabilities -- at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. This family-focused SUV offers a great balance between styling and versatility, while offering high levels of technology and safety.
Featuring three rows of seating for up to eight occupants, the new 2019 Subaru Ascent is underpinned by a strengthened and extended version of the Subaru Global Platform. Extensively employing high-strength steel, 2019 Subaru Ascent was built with particular focus on durability and rigidity as well as vibration resistance to provide a quiet interior and outstanding driving experience. To be built in Indiana, the new 2019 Ascent will arrive in early summer 2018 and will be available in four trim lines: base, Premium, Limited and Touring.
The assertive exterior design of the new Ascent is heavily influenced by Subaru’s “Dynamic x Solid” design philosophy. As expected, the new Ascent SUV looks similar to the Ascent SUV Concept unveiled at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April. At the best, the final production model is much like a toned down version of the concept, which is more muscular and more aggressive in nature. As shown, the new Ascent dons the Subaru’s signature hexagonal grille and C-shaped headlights as well as prominent wheel arches -- highlighting the brand’s Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive -- flowing into a horizontal character line. The new Ascent also features flared lower sills, as well as lower side and wheel arch cladding.Read the entire article 2019 Subaru Ascent officially unveiled at LA Auto Show
Subaru is expected to finally remove the veil off the latest member of its lineup at the upcoming 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. By then, the public will have a complete look at the production version of the new Subaru Ascent large sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Subaru had first released the Viziv-7 Concept that was unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. This concept was a clear signal of Subaru’s plans to offer a large SUV. This was the brand’s answer to the growing clamor for an SUV that is much larger than the Subaru Outback and Forester. The superb response received by the concept egged Subaru to proceed with its plans for a large SUV. Around five months later at the 2017 New York Auto Show, Subaru took the wraps off the Ascent SUV Concept – a toned down version of the Viziv-7 concept. The concept was a blatant confirmation of the arrival of a future three-row SUV that will be named as the Subaru Ascent.
Now, it seems that the Japanese carmaker is all ready to make the public see the largest and newest of its SUV models, the Subaru Ascent. So far, the auto company has released a teaser image that shows the “Ascent” logo, the rear bumper with black plastic cladding and a brushed aluminum sill, as well as the rear light. Subaru hasn’t released full images of its new large SUV, but there have been spy pictures of the Ascent – in fully camouflaged form – circulating through the Internet. Judging from these spy images, the final production form of the Ascent is very much like a toned down version of the concept unveiled in April at New York.Read the entire article Subaru teases new Ascent SUV before official debut at 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show
Fast & Furious fans will have to wait longer than anticipated before catching their favorite stars come together again in one big screen. Curiously, there were some murmurs awhile back when Michelle Rodriguez said that she will leave the franchise if the next movie fails to “show some love” for women.
But the latest update comes from the official Twitter account for the blockbuster film. It announced the new release date for the upcoming Fast & Furious. It turns out that the release date has been pushed back for yet another year. Fast and Furious 9 was initially set to hit the theaters on April 19, 2019 with the final instalment supposedly scheduled for release on April 02, 2021. However, that may no longer be the case after the recent announcement.
The reason is unclear as to why Universal/Comcast Corporation has delayed the ninth instalment but a spin-off will likely fill the gap if the new release date will no longer be reversed. If rumors are true, this spin-off will be featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. The main cast consisting of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris Bridges and Tyrese Gibson are all expected to return for the ninth instalment. Ludacris may also be part of the cast but no announcement about the final casting has been made yet.Read the entire article Fast & Furious 9 gets delayed, will arrive at cinemas on April 10, 2020
Subaru is currently on fire. The Japanese automaker recently revealed to us the STI S208 as well as the BRZ STI Sport Edition that will both head to the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show next month. But other than that, they also announced that their three best-selling models, namely the XV, Impreza, and Outback will come in special variants wearing unique visual updates.
“Fun Adventure Concept” is what the XV will be embodying, and so Subaru is giving it new exterior features to give it better off-roading capabilities. It will be wearing a bright yellow paint with black accents like the cladding on the front fascia, side fenders and rear diffuser. It seems like the suspension had been adjusted to lift it a little off the ground. And the bike rack on the roof gives it a more off-road, or should we way rugged look?
If you are not into off roaders and prefer a more upscale model, you might find this Subaru Outback more interesting. Inside the cabin, it gets a higher-quality finish combined with the “ultrasuede” seats and panels and dark embossed silver accents. As for technology, it is now equipped with a new eight-inch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the outside, the grille has been made to look more aggressive, while new tires have been added to finish off the more luxurious treatment.Read the entire article Subaru’s best sellers get a special edition look for Tokyo
The BRZ may be one of Subaru’s best-selling cars, and it seems like it is also the automaker’s favourite. The reason why I said that is because the Japanese car maker has just revealed another variant of the BRZ, the STI Sport. The special edition model will have some extra updates here and there, and will only be sold exclusively in Japan. Subaru Tecnica International signed this latest project and said that whoever gets behind the wheel of this fun-to-drive sports car will experience “pure handling delight”, as it delivers superior handling and ride quality compared to the normal BRZ. This model will make its debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show just a month from now.
Just because it is a Sport trim, does not instantly mean that it will have more power. In fact, it does not. However, it does get the same exclusive suspension tuning and body rigidity that all BRZ versions have. The STI Sport trim is currently the highest specification of the coupe to date and that it will be available in a bespoke Cool Grey Khaki paint. Being the range topper, it is natural that it gets additional tweaks in and outside the car.
Those who are interested in the BRZ STI Sport can already sign up at Japanese dealerships. However, unlike regular vehicles, it will not be sold on a first come, first serve basis. The company will hold a lottery, and will randomly select names of people who will be eligible to purchase one. We should find out more about this as the automakers announces the procedure and the full mechanics of the lottery at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 25.Read the entire article Subaru BRZ STI Sport Special Edition will soon arrive at 2017 Tokyo Motor Show
A few years ago, Subaru came out with the S207 limited edition in Japan, and it was marketed as the more powerful version of the WRX STI. This year, the Japanese automaker decided to do the same thing, but gave the performance sedan even more power this time, and they are calling it the WRX STI S208. Similar to the last one, this will only be exclusive to Japan, only 450 examples of the special version will roll off the assembly line too. Do not be fooled as it is not just the exterior and the interior that got some enhancements, but significant changes have also been made.
To improve the overall driving experience, the WRX STI is now made with a carbon fiber roof to lower the center of gravity, while also cutting down some of its weight. For even better agility and control over cornering, Subaru and STI worked together and gave the sporty sedan’s suspension some tweaks.
Though the Japanese automaker did not specify, they mentioned that the S208 will have an improved output compared to the S207. Though my guess is that it would have just a little less than 400 horsepower. Just for some reference, the previous model had a 323 horsepower turbocharged 2.0 liter engine with 318 lb-ft (431 Nm) of torque - that is a little more than the newly released 2018 WRX STI Type RA, which is actually available in the United States. The said model also has a carbon roof, and under its hood, a 2.5 liter unit producing 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft (393 Newton metres) of torque.Read the entire article Subaru S208 is a beefier version of the WRX STI
Subaru has already announced that the all new Impreza will be out by fall this year. The 2018 model year not only gets a number of new upgrades, but it will also be getting a price hike compared to the previous model year.
Before we talk about the price, let us first begin with the new features it will come with. The entry-level Impreza 2.0i has been given more technology with the new power windows and locks, and the new 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Android Auto and Apply CarPlay.
The Premium, Sport and Limited trims now have a safety feature wherein the headlights will automatically turn on when the windshield wipers have been activated for better visibility. Apart from this, the Premium trim also comes with heated front seats, and it will be riding on 16-inch alloy wheels.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru Impreza comes with new safety features, $140 increase in price
Subaru’s second model to be sold on the Global Platform would be the new generation Impreza. And we just learned that it will make its first appearance this September 12 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show for its European debut.
The Impreza retains its predecessor’s unique set-up that is a flat-four boxer engine, but now with an all-new Subaru Global Platform underneath it.
The Japanese company is proud to say that the Impreza is very different from the previous model as it is 70 percent stiffer, at the same time, it improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent. The overall suspension of the car has also been re-engineered to even lower the Impreza’s center of gravity.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru Impreza revealed in photos ahead of its debut at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
New and improved 2018 Subaru Legacy comes packed with a number of upgraded features from the get go - from the exterior to the interior. And the company has finally revealed the pricing for the Legacy, starting at $22,195, which makes it $200 more expensive than the outgoing model.
Legacy receives updates to its front fascia, the grille, side mirrors and the rear bumpers - keeping it fresh for the mid-cycle update. As for the engine, the base 2.5-liter Box engine still produces 175 horsepower (130 kilowatts), paired with a CVT with paddle shifters. An all wheel drive comes standard, and an Active Torque Vectoring system adds grip in wet conditions.
The upgraded interior is now available in Titanium Grey as an option, as well as a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Tech features include a standard 6.5-inch infotainment system that's compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Pandora, and Bluetooth.Read the entire article Pricing for the 2018 Subaru Legacy has been announced, expect a slight hike
Thinking of getting a Subaru Crosstrek? You’re probably thinking that by getting yourself the 2018 model year, you’ll then have to spend a lot more compared to the previous year model. But we have some good news that will prove you wrong. Subaru had just announced that the 2018 Crosstrek, which will arrive this summer, will just cost $140 more than last year’s model. The compact crossover will have a starting price of $22,710, which already includes the destination fee. Not bad, Subaru!
The 2018 Crosstrek 2.0i will be equipped with a 2.0-liter flat four-cylinder engine under the hood that produces 152 horsepower (113 kilowatts), compared to the previous model that gave out only 148 horsepower (110 kilowatts). This will be paired with a six-speed manual, but a CVT is also available, which features the X-Mode off-road traction tech and Hill Descent Control, but will cost $1,000 more. We expect that most US buyers will opt for the CVT instead of the standard transmission.
The all-wheel-drive will be getting a longer wheelbase with 1.2 inches more than that of the previous model, but the overall length is only up by 0.6 inch. This increases the rigidity of the utilized body structure by over 70 percent.Read the entire article 2018 Subaru Crosstrek pricing announced
Subaru has been doing really well for some time now. Just last year, the company announced its eighth consecutive U.S. sales record, hitting the 600,000 mark for the first time in history when it comes to deliveries. In fact, they sold over 600,000 last year, and with the current pace they are at this year, it looks like they will beat their present record. Apart from that record, Subaru can now claim a new all-wheel drive sales record as they have overtaken Audi’s all-wheel-drive sales.
According to some figures online, Subaru now sells the most number of all-wheel-drive cars globally, 15 percent of the global market to be specific. The automaker ranked number one by selling 965,892 units between the April 2015 to April 2016 financial year, that is 245,382 more than Audi’s sales of 720,510 units. Third in line would be Jaguar Land Rover, who have sold 485,797 units according to Autocar.
To break down the company’s sales, 60 percent of Subaru’s all-wheel-drive global sales come from the United States, within the same timeframe, 50,000 units were being sold in Europe - that is less than what it achieves in the US in one month. Furthermore, the UK sells less than 4,000 units in a year, and only a total of 1,210 units were sold in the past five months, that is a 19 percent drop compared to last year’s figures. Though Subaru is hitting the sky with its sales in the United States, it appears that it hasn’t been able to build up the brand name across the Atlantic.Read the entire article Subaru sells the most all-wheel-drive cars, beating Audi
Honda recently announced that the 2017 Civic Type R will be the first ever Civic Type R to make its way to U.S. shores, and it will be auctioned at "Bring a Trailer" site to a lucky guy for a good cause. Well, this time Honda may have a challenger that will also make its US debut soon. The vehicle in question is the 2018 Subaru BRZ tS, the US-spec version of which was officially revealed on June 8.
If you are an avid follower of Subaru Technica International, also commonly known as STI, you’ve probably been following news about this awe-inspiring model. The new WRX STI Type RA, as well as the U.S.-spec variant of the Subaru BRZ tS, finally had their wraps off.
The most recent teaser image of the tS revealed lightweight STI wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Tires, Brembo brakes and an upgraded aero package that comes with the hashtag #BRZts. The 2015 BRZ tS edition that was Japan-only unit model and only limited to 300 units, was released without the wing, but it was built with Bilstein suspension all around, an STI engine V Bar, carbon fiber look dash pane, Recaro bucket seats and Alcantara trimmings found throughout the cabin.Read the entire article Track-Ready 2018 Subaru BRZ tS is unveiled
The aftermath of the Takata airbag recall still largely resounds in the automotive industry, as big automotive companies like BMW, Mazda, Subaru and Toyota were extensively hit with what is considered as the largest single automotive recall of all time. The said 4 companies have had to make a settlement worth whopping $553 million with the United States government. Now that hurt a lot.
Current owners of around 16 million affected vehicles equipped with the faulty Takata air bags are candidates for financial aid in getting their vehicles checked out and fixed, with up to $500 in compensation as part of new consumer settlements that involve various automakers. BMW, Mazda, Subaru and Toyota have provided a collective statement on this unfortunate situation, explaining that the said settlement would allow a series of programs to raise recall remedy completion rates for Takata airbag inflators, including other customer benefits.
Included in this plan is an outreach program that will aid the speed of the recall and repair process, supervised through traditional and non-traditional means. For example, a rental car will serve as loaner vehicles to afflicted customers when requested, or during instances when parts for the recall are not available within 30 days. In addition, afflicted customers will be able to demand reimbursement for "appropriate out of pocket expenses that is due directly to the Takata airbag inflator recalls under out of pocket claims and the remaining distribution program.Read the entire article BMW, Subaru, Mazda and Toyota offer $553 million settlement following Takata's airbag recall
It seems like an increase in price has become a trend for automotive companies lately. Genesis isn’t alone when it comes to this. Subaru had just announced that the 2018 WRX will have a price tag of $27,855, while the WRX STI will be at $36,955, inclusive of the destination free. And if you compare these prices to the 2017 models sold last year, you will see a slight difference across all trims.
For the Subaru WRX, there is a $340 increase from the 2017 models of the standard, premium, and premium CVT trims, while a more noticeable increase of $640 for the limited and limited CVT trims. The 2018 Subaru WRX STI, on the other hand, goes up further with a $940 increase compared to the 2017 model. The 2018 standard trim now costs $36,955 (from $36,015), and the two limited trims now have a price tag of $41,755 (from $40,815). Now if you’re reading this, you might regret not having purchased a 2017 model. Take note that there is a destination fee of $860 on top of the base price, which also increased by $40 compared to last year.
Physically, the 2018 WRX models have a more distinct look thanks to its more angular fascia. The limited trim, and all STI models have steering-responsive LED headlights as well.Read the entire article There is a price hike for all Subaru WRX and STI trims for 2018 model year
