Confiscated Ferrari 458 Spider is transformed into police car in Milan

To those who are planning to commit a crime Milan and are relying on a getaway car, better think twice. The Milan Police now have a Ferrari 458 Spider in their garage. With its estimated 320 kmh top speed, escape would be a remote possibility. That’s how we want it to go in our imaginations but actually, this car will be used for educating the public.

The police in Milan are happy folks now -- a confiscated Ferrari 458 Spider was seized from a mobster in an organized crime pursuit in September of 2016, and recently reassigned to Milan's ghisa (a local term for police) by a court responsible for allocating seized goods for public use. The local police force and national brigade can request to keep the seized goods taken from the mafia.

Lucky guys. According to the local agency, they have confiscated around 29 other cars and 3 motorcycles from mobsters located in the city. But local police force commander Antonio Barbato cleared the issues surrounding the acquisition of the supercar and remarked that the public won’t see the Ferrari shred the roads accelerating straight to 200 kmh in less than 10.8 seconds in Corso Buenos Aires.

Rob Ferretti shares video of his Ferrari 458 Spider’s pothole trouble

In our daily drive, we do what we can to make sure our cars do not experience any untoward incidents. Still, there are times when such events are unavoidable and we have no choice but to steer to a pothole. While this may be normal for those who drive standard models, it would be difficult to imagine such a thing happening to owners of luxury or high-end vehicles.

Well, this is exactly what happened with Rob Ferretti and his Ferrari 458 Spider. However what makes this unique is that this is not a simple case of a Ferrari hitting a pothole as the wheel of his 458 Spider in fact shattered. While in most cases this incident would have been cast aside, Rob managed to put everything on video and post it on his official YouTube channel.

The video which Rob filmed using a Galaxy S7 showed him falling into a pothole, stopping and then stepping out of the car to discover his blunder. With this video though, Rob showed that should this happen to you, there is no need to panic. He even looked at eBay to know how much a replacement wheel costs. Rob also showed us what to do if such an event ever happens to you on the road. However, the video also shows the importance of having somebody to help you and deliver a spare tire. In the case of Rob, it was his brother.

Newlywed couple crashes rented Ferrari 458 Spider after the wedding

Weddings take time to prepare. Brides stress over stuff just to create the perfect wedding – from the color combination of flowers and the table cloth, down to the very minute details such as their bridesmaids’ nail polish.

On the other hand, grooms care about writing the flawless wedding vow and trying not to say anything that could ruin the whole event; and there’s showing up on time, too. So basically, the “perfect” wedding is ideally having a flawless ceremony and reception just hours away from settling into the whole married life; that is, having to deal with each other’s uncanny behaviour and then starting a life with kids.

Some couples like their wedding extra special like hot fudge sundae with a cherry on top. Others try to recreate movie scenes while some go the extra mile (or dollar, that is) to have a bit of a special time with the ones they love.

Misha Designs partners with CarNinja to create Ferrari 458 Italia carbon fiber wide body kit

Misha Designs revealed that it has entered into a partnership with CarNinja to come up with a body kit specifically for the Ferrari 458 Italia. The body kit is envisioned to be made of carbon fiber.

It was initially previewed as far back as March of this year. Its official public debut though was held at the recently concluded SEMA in Las Vegas with the design showing influences from the Ferrari FXX K, a track-only model. Some of those who were able to view the kit describe it as a rocket with wheels.

However what makes it even better is that the glossy black of its roof gives a contrast to the full matte candy wrap on the body. In addition, the Toyo Proxes tires cover its concave wheels. Misha Designs in fact made two versions for this kit. The first includes standard features like the front bumper, hood, fender, up to the side skirts, its wing and rear bumper.

As you may know already, the vehicle will be called Ferrari VS Spider and the vehicle you see in the photos was actually the one unveiled at the private event, which took place back in August at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Klaus didn’t unveil additional information about the 2015 Acura NSX, explaining that it’s much more than a set of impressive statistics. He said that while its power figure “won’t grab headlines”, it boasts qualities that are more important, like “driver involvement and pleasure.”

Novitec Rosso is the first tuner to take on the Ferrari 458 Spider and we must admit that we do like their style. As you can see from the photos, carbon fiber was the material chosen by the well-known tuner in order to build the aerodynamic components such as the two-piece front spoiler, side flaps, side skirts, rear spoiler and rear air diffuser.

Also made from carbon fiber is the bezel surrounding the rear fog lamp. The rear wing can be replaced by a carbon rear spoiler lip. The design is completed by the Novitec Rosso NF4 forged wheels with diameters of 21 and 22 inches. Still, the tuner also offers the three-piece Novitec Rosso NF3 wheels with diameters of 20, 21 and 22 inches as an option. The car was also fitted with a hydraulic suspension system which can raise the front by 40 millimeters in order to enter an underground parking garage or other obstacles such as speed limiters.

Novitec Rosso sport sway bars are available to further minimize body roll in fast corners and to improve turn-in. A new set of sport springs lower the ride height by 35 millimeters. In order to boost the engine output, the Novitec Rosso Performance Level 1 upgrades the 4.5-liter V8 with a special carbon-fiber air box with modified air routing as well as a special high-performance exhaust system. According to the official press release, the exhaust system was manufactured by Inconel and is made using extremely lightweight material also seen on exhausts for Formula 1 engines.

Ferrari announced today that the 458 Spider a.k.a. the convertible version of the 458 Italia will carry a price tag of 226,800 euros in Europe and $257,000 in the United States! Comparing it with the 458 Italia, the 458 Spider costs about 15 percent more, but those who love the cars created by the Italian manufacturer will not be surprised as Ferrari has been charging for the last decade for the convertible versions of models such as the 430 and 360.

The 2012 Ferrari 458 Spider made its debut earlier this month at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and replaces the old 430 Spider.

Still, the 458 Spider comes with an advantage in the form of an aluminum retractable hardtop instead of the canvas top offered on its predecessor. Ferrari patented its fully retractable hardtop and claims that it is a world first for rear-engine sports cars. The 458 Spider can be transformed from a coupe into a convertible in just 14 seconds.

Ferrari has officially released the new 458 Spider’s initial details and images as the car was unveiled today at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show is the world's first mid-rear engine berlinetta that features a retractable hard top. The new 458 Spider joins the Ferrari’s mid-rear engined V8s range alongside the 458 Italia.

The 458 Spider is powered by a naturally-aspirated, direct-injection 4.5 litre V8 engine mated to a dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission via the E-Diff, which is itself integrated with the F1-Trac traction control and high-performance ABS for optimal handling dynamics.

Ferrari claims that this sports car can accelerate from zero to 60mph in only 3.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph). In addition, it features an adjustable electric wind stop, which is designed to slow and diffuse the air in the cockpit. This means that the occupants of the vehicle can engage in a normal conversation even when the car is going over 200 km/h.

Ferrari unveiled today the all-new 458 Spider, the convertible version of the 458 Italia. As expected, the car is equipped with a Ferrari patented, fully retractable hard top, a world first for a sports car with this lay-out. Power comes from the same naturally-aspirated, direct-injection 4.5 litre V8 engine found on the coupe version, the same engine to receive the “2011 International Engine of the Year” award.

Moreover, the 570 hp delivered by the engine are transferred to the wheels via Ferrari’s class-leading dual-clutch F1 paddle-shift transmission through the sophisticated E-Diff, integrated with the F1-Trac traction control and high-performance ABS for maximum handling dynamics. The car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed in excess of 200 mph or 320 km/h.

Regarding the new aluminum hard-top, this also offers a number of advantages over the traditional folding soft-top, including a reduction of 25 kg in weight and a deployment time of just 14 seconds.

At the Bologna Motor Show, Ferrari unveiled its new 458 Challenge race car, a lighter and faster version of its mid-engined supercar that will participate in the one-make race series from 2011. The 458 Challenge and the regular car share the same direct-injection, 4.5-litre V8 powerplant, which delivers 562bhp at 9000rpm.

As it is for track use, it features revised gear ratios and recalibration of the 458's F1 gearbox. To shave off some weight, Ferrari has reduced the thickness of the 458's body panels, and has increased its use of lightweight materials such as carbonfiber and Lexan. The Challenge's chassis set-up comprises stiffer springs, single-rate dampers, 19in racing wheels, larger Pirelli slick tires and a lower ride height (down by 50mm).
