The Ferrari 488 GTB – with all its sporty elegance and dynamic beauty – has been a favorite tuning subject for car tuners in many parts of the world. Now, world renowned Japanese tuning company Liberty Walk is joining the global club of tuners that has made the Ferrari 488 GTB the centerpiece of their modification project.
Liberty Walk’s version of the Ferrari 488 GTB was recently unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Auto Salon. As expected, this Ferrari 488 GTB is not walking without boasting of Liberty Walk’s signature modifications – it is fitted with extra-wide body kits and is lowered very close to the ground. These modifications gave this turbocharged Ferrari a lower “stanced” appearance.
Aside from the wider body kits and lowered suspension, the Ferrari 488 GTB by Liberty Walk was heavily revised in terms of its exterior looks. Wrapped in bluish gray color finish, this Ferrari 488 GTB by Liberty Walk features a glossy black roof as well as glossy black side mirror housing. Ferrari decided to boost the 488 GTB and made its mid-engined V8 machine beefier for a more hardcore 488 Pista, which we saw around 2 months ago. Now, the engineers from Pogea Racing learnt from this and did the exact same thing, while managing to squeeze out even more power from the biturbo 3.9 liter V8.
If the 488 from Maranello can bring out 720 horsepower and 770 Newton metres (568 pound feet) of torque, the FPlus Corsa project pushes its output even more by another 100 horsepower and 130 Newton metres (96 lb ft), giving it a total output of 820 horsepower (603 kilowatts) and 900 Newton metres (664 lb ft).
The engine isn’t all that was tweaked here, as Pogea Racing decided to play with its exhaust system and decided that it would install stainless steel flaps to make the most out of the V8’s beautiful soundtrack. There are so many stories circulating about whether Ferrari will be building an SUV or a fully electric model that people seem to be forgetting about Ferrari’s soon to be rockstar - the hardcore 488 GTB that will bring back the “GTO” moniker, which will also likely be the most desirable car to carry the prancing horse logo. In a leaked document by California Air Resources Board, there was a “488 Special Series Coupe” that was listed, so we definitely know that it is on its way.
We are expecting the 488 Special Series Coupe to make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March. We have seen photos of the Liberty Walk Honda NSX before, but none of us really appreciated it because these photos did not do the supercar justice. This time, new photos of the same modified model have been released and the new images perfectly highlight the new styling modifications.
This NSX is far from a standard model. It was tuned by Liberty Walk with the help of Forgiato Wheels.
As you can see in the images, the NSX now has a towering rear wing that suits the car really well. And at the same time, it transforms the car’s overall look. Andy Palmer, Aston Martin CEO recently discussed with Autoblog and shared more details about its plans for a mid-engine supercar. Like he said, the 488 GTB is the best car in its segment and that they are hell-bent on competing against it.
When asked how the company is going to take on the Ferrari 488 GTB, Palmer admittedly said that they need to recruit some of Ferrari’s key people particularly the head of engineering and the head of powertrains. Japanese aftermarket tuner Liberty Walk is at it again, this time with the Ford Mustang. The tuner is known worldwide because of their outrageous and unique wide body treatments when configuring models like the Toyota Prius and the Lamborghini Aventador, plus many more in between.
As mentioned earlier, one of their latest projects would be the Liberty Walk-tuned Ford Mustang, and this is the first Mustang they have tweaked. To really make it look like it is by the tuner, they gave the example their signature bolt-on fenders, new front and rear bumpers, a new read diffuser, a modified grille, and finally a ducktail spoiler. The pony is dressed in a bright red finish to complete the exterior look. LB gave it an Airrex air suspension kit for an additional $7,900 (¥790,000), to let it sit as close as it can to the pavement.
Before we forget, the Mustang now has a set of black wheels and decals all over the body, to give some accent to its bright red body. For the full-on Works package, customers will have to be willing to spend $6,800 (¥680,000). Liberty Walk, the Japan based tuning company, is back at it again. Though we are used to seeing these tuners modify high-end machines like Lamborghinis and Ferraris, this time they step out of their comfort zone and decide to create a special upgrade of a more regular car. In this case, they did their tricks on the Honda S660.
At first glance, you’ll know that the Honda has been modified by the Japanese tuners. Its exterior alone received a whole bunch of visual upgrades. To be more specific, the mini roadster received new front and rear bumpers, complemented with large side skirts for a more seamless design, with deeper front splitter and rear diffuser. A boot lip spoiler has been added along with the bolt-on fender flares that hug the deep dish alloy wheels that have been wrapped in performance stretched tires. Unfortunately, the set of wheels is not part of the package. Overall, the S660’s body is now wider and looks more masculine
There are two options of the body kit customers can choose from: one of them is priced at 648,000 yen ($5,700), while the other is a little cheaper at 475,000 yen ($4,200). Both body kits are made from FRP, and the current versions will soon be joined by two other variants. As of now, these body kits are only exclusive to the Japanese market. Ferrari is cooking up something interesting for us. The last time they released the 488 GTB was two years ago, followed by a 488 Spider and several versions of it. And now, it seems like they are preparing for the release of the 458 Speciale’s successor, the 488 GTO.
So, whats there to be excited about? The Ferrari 488 GTO is meant to rival Porsche’s 911 GT2. Therefore, the race-inspired flagship model will have a 3.9 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, capable of producing 700 horsepower (521 kilowatts). That is a huge power difference from its predecessor, and the Spider’s 493-kilowatt (660 hp) engine. It is expected for the 760 Newton-metre torque to increase as well due to the increased boost from the turbochargers.
The track-focused 488 GTO will follow a “more power, less weight” principle - just like the 360 Challenge Stradale and the 430 Scuderia. The company aims to bring the weight just under 1400 kilograms. If you want your Ferrari to look more “exclusive”, Misha Rade Djoedvic’s design team has special kits for that special toy of yours! After successfully tuning the Ferrari 458, Misha Designs dresses up a Ferrari 488 GTB with its latest body kits.
The new body kit comes in two different styles, the Limited wide body and the Regular. What’s more, Misha will be making only 20 units of the wide body version which comes with large rear wings, a more protruding rear diffuser and 3-inches wider quarter panels so better hurry.
As for the front end, the design specialist took inspirations from a Formula 1 series. By itself, the McLaren 650S already delivers excellence both in performance and visuals. However for Japan-based Liberty Walk, it appears that the 650S has yet to show its true potential. This is the reason why the tuner has once again revealed another upgrade package for this amazing model.
This latest body kit puts in fenders that are now wider with a new diffuser in the rear and bumper in the front. All of these are then decorated with red highlights. New as well are the ultra-wide rims and the large wing.
Liberty Walk did not stop there as this upgrade package will come in two versions. The first is priced at $34,000, and will have the upgrades in fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP). The Ferrari 488 GTB was first launched on February 3, 2015 prior to its world premiere at the March 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The 488 GTB is the successor of the much-loved 458 Italia and is now the standard bearer for all things “super” in the Ferrari line-up.
This two-seat berlinetta is powered by a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 that makes a distinct sonorous sound and monstrous acceleration, making it one of the most vicious supercars that have ever set foot (or its wheels) on this planet.
The car is named after its 488 cubic centimeter per cylinder displacement (times eight, works out about 3,902 cc displacement). Even with a 0.6-liter deficiency compared to its predecessor, the 488 GTB engine is still capable of producing more power. It can reach up to 661 horsepower and 561 lb.-ft. of torque. With this much power, this dual-clutch seven-speed supercar can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.0 seconds covering a quarter-mile in 10.45 seconds. Featuring a polyester body and powered by a 310 hp three-liter V8 engine, the Ferrari 308 Gr4 Pioneer (Ferrari 308 GTB), was a truly imposing vehicle. This race car allowed Jean Claude Andruet to win the 1981 Tour de France Auto.
This is also the same car that allowed Andruet to grab second place at the European Rally Championship in the same year, despite taking part in only seven races while eventual winner Adartico Vudafieri in his Fiat 131 participated in 15 events. Andruet and the 308 repeated their win at the Tour de France Auto in 1982. It was a classic race as Andruet went head to head against Jean Ragnotti and his R5 Turbo.
As a tribute to this classic race car, Ferrari has wrapped a Ferrari 488 GTB with a livery similar to that of the 308 Gr4 Pioneer. This new livery, created in a collaboration between the Italian sports car maker’s Tailor Made division and Parisian Ferrari dealer Charles Pozzi, features the same color scheme as the iconic 308 Gr4 Pioneer -- the iconic blue and white. The Ferrari Dino is a low-cost marque from the Italian automaker that was made to cater to the general public.

At this year’s Festival of Speed, Ferrari is unveiling its most recent mid-rear-engined V8 supercar, the 488 GTB, and the FXX-K to UK audiences. These two cars will be participating in the 1.6 mile Goodwood Hill Climb together with a full supporting lineup of Ferrari cars. The 488 GTB would be the first mid-engined twin-turbo V8 from Ferrari ever since the legendary 288 GTO and F40.
It boasts 650CV and has a one-of-a-kind engine management system that produces torque in a controlled and sustained manner with zero turbo lag and response times similar to that of a naturally-aspirated V8 engine. It comes as no surprise that the vehicle is powered by a new 3902 cc V8 turbo engine that produces an outstanding 670 hp at 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm of torque in the seventh gear.
This is different from the 3855 cc unit that is used on the California T. The rear wheels get power through a modified seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox taken from the 458 Italia.
