Ford unveils new special editions for its Expedition and Explorer SUVs

Sports utility vehicles are still in heavy demand. Ford knows this very well as the American carmaker has seen sales of its SUVs surge dramatically by 28 percent in the past six years. Leading this charge are the Ford Expedition and Ford Explorer SUVs, which is why these models are each getting not just one, but special editions.

These new four special edition SUVs – Ford Expedition Stealth Edition, Ford Expedition Texas Edition, Ford Explorer Limited Luxury Edition and Ford Explorer Desert Copper Edition – will only be offered in the United States and are expected to further boost the popularity of the Expedition and Explorer in the country. The new four special edition SUVs were all unveiled at the State Fair of Texas.

There is a reason why Ford unveiled the new four special edition SUVs at the State Fair of Texas. After all, Texas is the largest market for Ford’s large SUVs. In fact, the state accounted for nearly 25 percent of Expedition retail sales nationally – even more than the combined sales of the SUV in Florida and California.

Ford Fiesta is now available with new ST-Line Red and Black Editions in Europe

Ford is giving potential Fiesta customers more reasons to purchase its world-renowned subcompact. Two of these are the introductions of new sporty model based from the ST-Line trim of the Ford Fiesta. New customers can now indulge with the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and the Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition. Ford is now selling the Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition models in selected markets in Europe.

According to the carmaker, the ST-Line trim accounts for around 20 percent of total Fiesta sales this year. Perhaps the satisfying demand for the ST-Line – which endows the Fiesta a sportier and more dynamic appearance – has led Ford to create two new special editions based on this trim. These new editions – the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and the Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition feature distinctive exterior and interior elements that make them stand out from the rest.

Making full use of Ford Performance-inspired styling, these new Ford Fiesta ST-Line edition models are available in three- and five-door body styles. Both the new Ford Fiesta ST-Line Red Edition and the Fiesta ST-Line Black Edition are served by Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engine that deliver 140 PS of max output, as complemented by sports suspension. Ford Focus RS Edition rises a notch higher with new Quaife limited-slip differential

Does the RS Edition and its LSD feature deserve all the media attention? The short answer to that is yes. Let us explain why. Ford today has revealed its new Focus RS Edition together with the complete details about its latest features, price and specifications. While on stage at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new hatchback is seen to be wearing a stunning new look while dressed in Nitrous Blue body paint and fitted with blackened front splitter, spoiler, roof, and black 19-inch wheels.

The hatchback’s stunning new features are also seen along the RS Edition’s more angular and more aggressive front grille and bumpers which are even more enhanced with its massive spoiler and large exhausts down the vehicle's rear section. Beyond the menacing appearance, you will also find Recaro carbon fibre sports seats inside plus a pair of folding side mirrors on both sides of the exterior.

What’s more interesting however is that the new model receives Ford’s 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine, which is capable of up to 350PS that would allow the hatchback to run from a zero to 60mph in as quickly as 4.7 seconds. Needless to say, Ford has added the latest mechanical Quaife limited slip differential (or LSD) that should significantly improve the RS Edition’s handling and traction more than ever.

Fifty years after its glorious victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford launches the 2018 Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition at the 2017 Monterey Car Week. The red racing livery with white stripes is a tribute to the Ford GT40 Mark IV and its team headed by racing legends A.J. Foyt and Dan Gurney during the famed endurance racing event in 1967.

Garen Nicoghosian, head of exterior design for the car, recounted how the first Heritage became a success. According to him, he’s attributing this achievement not only to its history in Le Mans racing but also to its modern interpretation. The first one is a tribute to the GT40 Mark II driven by Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren in 1966. Dubbed as the 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition, its livery consists of black body paint with two silver GT stripes.

To carry on with its tradition, Ford looks back once again this time with the GT40 Mark IV race car from the year that followed. Considering the GT40 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for four consecutive years (between 1966 to 1969), we can now safely assume this ’67 GT won’t be the last Ford Heritage edition in the series.

Will there be another Bullitt Mustang in the near future? There could be, if we base our conclusions on the recent accidental leak of the new Ford Mustang Bullitt’s existence.

Hitting the big screen in 1968, Bullitt is definitely one of the epic and classic films ever shown. Its iconic importance has been cemented by the fact that it was selected in 2007 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress, as Bullitt is "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Sharing the same legend as the film’s main protagonist (Police Lieutenant Frank Bullitt, played by Steve McQueen) is the car that he drove during the now epic car chase – a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. Commonly called as the Mustang Bullitt, this epic car has been resurrected many times in forms of commemorative editions in 2001 and 2009. Ford built 5,582 examples of the Mustang Bullitt in 2001 and followed it up with 816 units in 2009. Because of its epic status, it is no wonder that motorists from a whole new generation are still excited about the prospect of a new Mustang Bullitt appearing in the near future. However, Ford has been silent on whether there is indeed an endeavor to recreate a Mustang Bullitt, as derived from the latest generation of the Ford Mustang.

Exactly 50 years after Ford’s first win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it has once again bagged the win in this year’s competition. At the 20th hour of the race, in what seemed to be déjà vu, the No. 68 Ford GT took the lead and snatched the title from the No. 82 Ferrari.

This year’s win is as historic as when it first won at the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hours. What better way to pay homage to the car that has made Ford the first American automaker to win at the prestigious event than to win it again on its golden anniversary. It truly is a proud moment for Ford and to kick off the celebrations, Ford is releasing a limited edition 2017 Ford GT.

The 2017 Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition is as stunning as the “standard” 2017 GT but its features commemorate the 1966 GT40 driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon at the 1966 Le Mans. This limited edition GT has a Shadow Black exterior that comes in either a gloss or matte finish with silver stripes and some exposed carbon fiber. To further pay homage to the original GT40, the ’66 Heritage edition will also feature a Frozen White #2 graphic on its hood as well as on its doors. Additional exterior enhancements include the 20-inch one-piece forged aluminium wheels dressed in gold satin clearcoat and dotted with black lug nuts.

Ford Motor Co. has unveiled a concept version of the Fiesta ST performance subcompact with a six-speed manual transmission at the Frankfurt Motor Show. But if it enters production, it will come with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged EcoBoost engine that may deliver 175 to 180 hp. Ford has yet to decide if it will go into production and if it will be available in North America. According to executives, if this car gets produced, it’s unlikely that it will be sold in North America before 2013.

It is said that the ST is to the current Fiesta lineup what the upcoming Focus ST is to the regular variants like the Ford SEL. Its brakes have been upgraded to go with the added power. Its suspension has been tweaked to be sportier. Its rims are bigger and come with more aggressive tires and its electronics have been improved to help in the management of torque steer and understeer.

The ST may be introduced as a concept but it’s obvious from Ford's presentation and the car’s quality that it will enter production. Ford claims that the Fiesta has attained a high level of profitability throughout the globe. This means that Ford could afford several small volume off-shoots.

A Blue Angels 2012 Ford Mustang GT will be seen at the upcoming Young Eagles Auction. This one-of-a-kind vehicle, with an aviation theme, is expected to fetch a lot of money. In the last four years, Ford Motor Company has collaborated with the EAA Young Eagles Program in the development of this vehicle. Ford aims to honor the 100th anniversary of US Naval Aviation by using the Blue Angels, one of the most well-known aviation display teams worldwide, to inspire the Mustang GT.

This car is expected to attract bids that are higher than the $375,000 bid made for last year’s Mustang, which took inspiration from the SR-71 Blackbird. Kevin Keling, Ford corporate events manager, said that the Ford Design and Engineering team members, who develop these one-off projects,” paid serious attention to the details and spent over 600 hours to build it.

He said that the highlights of this vehicle include the blue chrome paint that’s unlike any of those seen in production and the “amazing” puddle lamps projecting jets. Creation 'n Chrome, from Valencia, California, made this one-off vehicle, giving it a chrome blue paint scheme with yellow stripes, similar to the F-18 Hornets. This car’s front fascia is the same as that of the Boss 302.

Before dealers even knew that the limited edition Ford Focus RS500 has already been unveiled, the model had sold out. What makes this feat so astounding is that it sold out 12 hours after it was revealed and even before pricing was announced. A Ford insider said that this phenomenon occurred despite Ford being forced to unveil the car nearly 48 hours earlier than planned.

Ford had a website dedicated to slowly tease consumers until its scheduled debut for Wednesday but it was hacked and official pictures got released Monday afternoon.

The Ford insider said that people were frantically calling up dealers, entering stores and placing orders for a car that dealerships didn't know had existed. The head office was bombarded with calls from its dealers. Ford is currently looking over the expressions of interest from numerous customers to determine allocations for its dealerships, before the order books officially open in May.
