Noble Automotive has been building the Noble M600 supercar since 2010. Featured in Top Gear, the M600 is currently Noble’s only model in production. That may change in the near future as the British carmaker has made known its intention to build an all-new supercar by displaying the Noble M500 at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
But before drooling at the Noble M500 displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, let it be known that this is just a full-size mockup or a non-working prototype. The main reason for this is that M500 is still in its early phases of development, which is also why the new Noble supercar most likely won’t be produced this year.
Wrapped in bright yellow finish with black-tinted glasses, this mockup model represents how the Noble M500 would look like when it is finally built. As a mockup, the M500 at Goodwood is just for show, but doesn’t have the specs and features intended for its final version. This non-working prototype doesn’t even have an interior. Nevertheless, the mockup is visually appealing enough to draw attention of visitors at Goodwood.Read the entire article Noble surprises 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed with new Noble M500 supercar
Lanzante Motosport is taking advantage of the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase its latest conversion project – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Allegedly commissioned by a rich client from the Middle East, the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante is essentially a McLaren P1 GTR converted into a Longtail, easily capturing the attention of visitors at Goodwood.
Doing a project based from a McLaren P1 GTR isn't something new to Lanzante. After all, the British racing had been converting the track-only P1 GTR for use on the road. Lanzante also had six P1 GTR units converted to become road-legal P1 LM versions. Five of these P1 LM units were sold while the sixth example was retained as the XP1 LM to be used for development and testing. Interestingly, the XP1 LM managed to set the fastest ever time for a road car on the Goodwood hillclimb of the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, completing the 1.86-km course at just 47.07 seconds.
Now, another P1 GTR is making waves at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but this time it has been converted into a longtail – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Prior to the event, Lanzante had been teasing us with the P1 GT conversion. The teases proved to be worth paying attention to, as the P1 GT revealed at Goodwood is spectacularly impressive.Read the entire article McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante Motorsport turns heads at 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Aston Martin Cygnet was best known as the rebadged version of the Toyota iQ city car. Initially sold in the United Kingdom, the Cygnet was considered a failure in terms of sales, and by 2013, it was dead. However, the Cygnet is resurrected from the dead as a commissioned one-off city car with around 430 bhp of potential under its hood.
Compared to its typical base model, the Aston Martin V8 Cygnet is dubbed as as the ultimate city car, both in looks and in power. Making its global debut at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the V8 Cygnet was commissioned by a customer via the British marque’s bespoke personalization service, the ‘Q by Aston Martin – Commission’ service.
The project started with the steel body shell and panels of a right-hand drive Aston Martin Cygnet, as welded to a roll cage. To accommodate the 4.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine from the Aston martin Vantage S, engineers create a new front bulkhead and transmission tunnel from sheet metal. Also fitted into the project are subframes and suspension from the previous-generation Vantage as well as a steel fuel tank housing (boot area).Read the entire article Aston Martin V8 Cygnet is a one-off ultimate city with 430 bhp of output
McLaren Automotive is unveiling in metal its quickest and most powerful Sports Series model – the new McLaren 600LT -- at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new McLaren 600LT is effectively not only the latest Super Series model, but is also the latest McLaren to wear the Longtail (LT) badge. Taking inspiration from McLaren 675LT models and the McLaren Longtail F1 GTR racer, the new 600LT is laden with all the physical attributes of a Longtail like its longer rear diffuser, extended front splitter, fixed rear wing as well as elongated silhouette. Along with the flat carbon fiber floor, the distinct bodywork of 600LT help generate 100 kg of downforce at 250 km/h (155 mph), resulting to greater levels of grip and high-speed stability. The result is the most track-focused Super Series model from McLaren.
As expected, the new McLaren 600LT extensively employs carbon fiber. This material is used for the monocoque chassis and the new aerodynamic features. Every June or July of every year, motor racing vehicles – especially historic ones -- flock at West Sussex, England to challenge the hillclimb event of the highly prestigious Goodwood Festival of Speed. For the first time in the festival’s history, a vehicle will brave the hillclimb without a driver behind its wheels.
So far, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has been graced by conventionally powered and electrified vehicles. However, all of these vehicles completed the 1.86-km (1.16 miles) hillclimb with a driver piloting the steering wheel. This is due to change this July 12, 2018 when an autonomous vehicle created by the collaboration between Siemens and Cranfield University tries to run the course.
People who might want to witness the first autonomous hillclimb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, however, should not expect an all-new self-driving car climbing its way up to the Goodwood House. Instead, they should look out for 1965 Ford Mustang with a distinctive silver wrap. The sides of this 1965 Mustang feature the number “25”, commemorating the 25th anniversary of Goodwood. This autonomous Mustang also features the blue “Siemens” logo and a stripe running on the lower flank with the same color as the logo. Stripes of the same color are also found on the hood and roof of the autonomous Mustang.Read the entire article Self-driving 1965 Ford Mustang to attempt first-ever Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb

At the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, we witnessed a number of awesome cars, major debuts, and some crazy crashes. That’s what makes it an exciting event. But in the end, it’s all about performance where people compete for the fastest lap at the hill - hence, the event name.
In this event, there are two main categories namely: the Supercars and the smaller Race Cars for the Road. Beginning with the latter, for this year’s race, the Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) Mono took home the victory with an impressive 49.54-second lap time. The Caterham Seven 620R came in second with 50.01 seconds, while in third place with 50.83 seconds is the Radical RXC Turbo.
Oliver Webb was the test driver behind the wheels of the BAC Mono. He said in an interview that it will always be a close race between them, the Caterham and the Radical. At the same time, he was very happy to top the leaderboard this year. He also said that they pushed the Mono hard, but it reacted well and even finished with a great time.Read the entire article BAC Mono grasps victory at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb

Briggs Automotive Company brings the BAC Mono Art Car at the 2017 Goodwood FoS. Partnering with Autodesk, the team created a sophisticated artwork that bears a resemblance to the Mono sports car’s airflow simulation. The art car, painted in jet black with hints of blue and green at the front and adorned with combinations of red and yellow behind the back, will feature the Autodesk logo all around its body. Those markings will be seen primarily at the exposed carbon fiber fenders, at the spoiler and especially along the left side of the car.
Autodesk made a name for itself in software making within the entertainment, media and automotive industry. As a matter of fact, its CFD software was employed in developing several parts used for the BAC Mono with the help of a 3D model. Since the virtual wind tunnel allowed them to visualize the vehicle’s airflow, it inspired them to create the same visual art for the BAC Mono Art Car.
Because of this, the livery consists of blue stripes that flow along the hood all the way to the tip of the dashboard. To create a “picture” of aerodynamics and airflow, the yellow and red accents instead are seen throughout the rear end of the cockpit.Read the entire article BAC Mono Art Car steals the show at 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed

At this year’s Festival of Speed, Ferrari is unveiling its most recent mid-rear-engined V8 supercar, the 488 GTB, and the FXX-K to UK audiences. These two cars will be participating in the 1.6 mile Goodwood Hill Climb together with a full supporting lineup of Ferrari cars. It comes as no surprise that the vehicle is powered by a new 3902 cc V8 turbo engine that produces an outstanding 670 hp at 8,000 rpm and 760 Nm of torque in the seventh gear.
This is different from the 3855 cc unit that is used on the California T. The rear wheels get power through a modified seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox taken from the 458 Italia.
