McLaren P1 receives the Gemballa GForged-one wheels

In our vision, the McLaren P1 is almost the perfect hypercar and we thing that a tuning programme for it would be just a waste of time. Still, Gemballa surprised us today with some photos showing the McLaren P1 hybrid hypercar with a new set of wheels. The P1 was fitted with a new set of special forged wheels called GForged-one.

This makes Gemballa the GForged-one. For those who don’t know, the standard McLaren P1 uses 19-inch wheels on the front and 20-inch wheels on the rear. The new Gemballa wheels are lighter but also bigger: 20-inch on the front and 21-inch on the rear. As you can see from the photos, the new wheels feature widely spaced twin-spoke pairs shaped into sleek Vs.

As a result, the braking components are clearly visible and another stylistic feature in the overall impression. Customers who are interested in buying these wheels are able to choose between a total of four surface finishes The available shades are Gunmetal or Black Magic – either in a full-surface finish or "diamond cut". The latter option represents an especially elegant alternative to front polishing.

2012 Geneva Motor Show: Gemballa GT based on the McLaren MP4-12C

The Gemballa GT, which is based on the all-new McLaren MP4-12C, has finally made its debut. The car was created using the philosophy: "Pure performance with real passion.” It is actually the first non-Porsche-based car to carry the Gemballa GT name. There had been reports that the new McLaren is a distillation of the wide-ranging motorsport expertise of this company but this very advanced, empirical method has resulted in a car that had excellent abilities but with a slightly generic appearance and detached driving experience.

Gemballa CEO Andreas Schwarz said that it had aimed to instill the “missing emotion” into the Gemballa GT version of the MP4-12C. He said that its “starting point” is an aerodynamic styling kit and ultra-light forged alloy wheels. He added that they’re in development of a program to upgrade the engine too.

McLaren and Gemballa are both obsessed with lightweight, high-strength construction that has resulted to the significant usage of carbonfiber. It’s clear that McLaren MP4-12C is built on this philosophy from its F1-inspired carbonfiber centre tub to the body panels. It has a weight of only 1,434kg and is powered by a 608hp/441 kW bi-turbo 3.8 litre V8 motor.

Gemballa Racing to hit the 2012 motorsport season with the McLaren MP4-12C GT3

GEMBALLA is the latest team to enter the realm of racing. As GEMBALLA celebrates its 30th anniversary, it aims to set another milestone. For the 2012 motorsport season, the new team will enter two McLaren MP4-12C GT3 cars. Sascha Bert was hired by Steffen Korbach, the team owner and GEMBALLA investor, to oversee the new motorsport venture. Bert is famous for being a terrific racing instructor and driver.

He used to be a former German kart champion, Formula 3 and FIA GT driver, and he has experienced being on the winners' podium at the Nürburgring VLN 24-hour race. Korbach described Bert of being an “absolute pro” and of being capable to manage its new racing team.

For the last 30 years, GEMBALLA has earned a reputation of having high performance, reliability and outstanding qualities. GEMBALLA aims to commemorate the launch of the McLaren F1 GTR at the 24-hours of Le Mans 17 years ago and will rely on McLaren’s competition pedigree.

2019 McLaren 600LT Spider offers open-air thrill up to 201 mph

Nearly half a year ago when McLaren Automotive unveiled the McLaren 600LT Coupe, the British carmaker is now introducing a version that lets its passengers enjoy the thrill of an open-air drive through track-like performance. The new McLaren 600LT Spider is the latest Longtail model and the third model under McLaren Automotive’s £1.2-billion Track25 business plan.

The new McLaren 600LT Spider is also effectively the fifth car donning the Longtail (LT) name, after the McLaren 600LT Coupe, McLaren 675LT Coupe, McLaren 675LT Spider and the McLaren F1 GTR racer Longtail. Just like these Longtail models, the 600LT Spider offers higher levels of power and aerodynamics, lower weight, greater degree of driver engagement and track-focused dynamics. Likewise, the 600LT Spider is available in limited numbers.

In terms of looks, the McLaren 600LT Spider is a twin of the 600LT Coupe, with the only difference being the absence of the fixed roof. But that doesn’t mean that the driver and the passenger won't be protected from the elements. This is because the 600LT Spider is provided with a three-piece, powered retractable hardtop roof, which can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 25 mph with a single push of a button. The overall roof mechanism makes the 600LT Spider to weigh 110.2 lbs more than the 600LT Coupe, for a dry weight of 2,859.4 lbs.

McLaren’s most track-focused, road legal car – the McLaren Senna -- might be quick and fast. However, it remains no match for a wall, such as this one near Munich, Germany. This would be an example on how you should not drive a newly delivered Senna.

According to GT Spirit, the owner of this new McLaren Senna just took delivery of the downforce-rich sports car. The owner wasn’t named, but he was identified to be a 43-year old businessman from Grunwald, a suburb of Munich, Germany. A Facebook post by McLaren Munich said the Senna – wrapped in dark blue and black finish -- was just delivered to its new owner on October 20, 2018, a Saturday.

Perhaps too excited to test the performance limits of his 800-PS hypercar, this businessman took the McLaren Senna for a spin on the road. The hypercar didn’t fail its new owner, but its driver did fail this pricey high-performance machine. Based from the tire marks left on the road, the accident was caused by the driver losing control of his new Senna. The rear end of the hypercar might have swung out and its driver seems to completely lost control of the Senna. Then, the front end of the Senna hit the wall, sustaining some damage. The impact was strong enough to activate the airbags of the hypercar.

With 720 PS (710 hp or 530 kW) of max output, a carbon fiber chassis, aerodynamic body and stunning sports car design, the McLaren 720S is nothing short of amazing. By next year, customer teams can pilot a race-focused version of the Super Series as the British carmaker announces the eventual arrival of the new McLaren 720S GT3.

Being developed by McLaren Automotive’s new customer racing division, the 720S GT3 has just finished undergoing extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. Now, the development program is in the track-based phase, which includes a punishing test regime that should help validate the GT racer’s key performance data as well as long-distance durability. Track testing is now being conducting extensively across Europe, the United States and the Middle East.

Development prototypes are scheduled to cover over 18,500 miles to confirm the GT racer’s exceptional durability and efficiency. The program also includes various 24- and 36-hour tests. The first two development prototypes have already began the test program that will cover tracks on Europe and the US. An intensive Middle East program is scheduled to start before the end of the 2018.

The new McLaren Senna isn't your ordinary car on the road. It is a supercar that delivers 800 PS (789 hp), pays tribute to legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna, and is available in a limited run of 500 examples. Now, one of these 500 examples has arrived in New York City, as delivered to renowned car collector Michael Fux.

Arriving at the garage of Fux is the first McLaren Senna made for North America. Furthermore, this example of the Senna was personalized for its owner by McLaren Special Operations (MSO). By taking a good look at the extensive bespoke content of this Senna example, it is safe to assume that Fux has really made this supercar an extension of his own personality.

Dubbed as the Fux Green McLaren Senna, this example features a Full Visual Carbon Fiber Body, as finished in a custom emerald green dubbed as Fux Green. This full body set has 67 parts, all needing nearly 1,000 hours to produce. The exterior is rounded off by blue-and-red wheel center lock nuts as well as ball-polished wheels.

Lanzante Motosport is taking advantage of the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase its latest conversion project – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Allegedly commissioned by a rich client from the Middle East, the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante is essentially a McLaren P1 GTR converted into a Longtail, easily capturing the attention of visitors at Goodwood.

Doing a project based from a McLaren P1 GTR isn't something new to Lanzante. After all, the British racing had been converting the track-only P1 GTR for use on the road. Lanzante also had six P1 GTR units converted to become road-legal P1 LM versions. Five of these P1 LM units were sold while the sixth example was retained as the XP1 LM to be used for development and testing. Interestingly, the XP1 LM managed to set the fastest ever time for a road car on the Goodwood hillclimb of the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, completing the 1.86-km course at just 47.07 seconds.

Now, another P1 GTR is making waves at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but this time it has been converted into a longtail – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Prior to the event, Lanzante had been teasing us with the P1 GT conversion. The teases proved to be worth paying attention to, as the P1 GT revealed at Goodwood is spectacularly impressive.

McLaren Automotive is unveiling in metal its quickest and most powerful Sports Series model – the new McLaren 600LT -- at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Built to dominate the race circuits and yet it is legal to be driven on the road, the new 600LT is the latest addition to McLaren’s Super Series family that already includes the McLaren 650S Coupe, 650S Spider, 675LT Coupe, 675LT Spider and 720S.

The new McLaren 600LT is effectively not only the latest Super Series model, but is also the latest McLaren to wear the Longtail (LT) badge. Taking inspiration from McLaren 675LT models and the McLaren Longtail F1 GTR racer, the new 600LT is laden with all the physical attributes of a Longtail like its longer rear diffuser, extended front splitter, fixed rear wing as well as elongated silhouette. Along with the flat carbon fiber floor, the distinct bodywork of 600LT help generate 100 kg of downforce at 250 km/h (155 mph), resulting to greater levels of grip and high-speed stability. The result is the most track-focused Super Series model from McLaren.

As expected, the new McLaren 600LT extensively employs carbon fiber. This material is used for the monocoque chassis and the new aerodynamic features. Carlex Design is well known for its numerous customized vehicles and their lavish interiors. Most of the time, these custom interiors are far from subtle too, using expansive amounts of fine leather and Alcantara. While the interiors are definitely loud, it can’t be denied that the aftermarket company has great taste. One of the tuner’s latest work is this McLaren 720S with a gorgeous burgundy interior that matches its exterior with a personal touch. It would be an understatement to call this one unique. We’re willing to bet that there’s nothing out there like it.

The McLaren 720S’ cabin has been given essentially everything by the tuner. These range from leather, Alcantara, and carbon fiber, to quilted designs and perforations. The whole modification process took Carlex three weeks to complete, and the company gave it all its time and effort into finishing the project, modifying the seat upholstery, steering wheel, door panels, center console, dashboard, the full floor, headliner, and the space behind the seats. In fact, no part of the interior has been left untouched.

As for the exterior, Carlex customized the McLaren 720S with painted eagle wings on the side. Apparently, the theme for the entire car revolves around a history motif of 16th to 18th century “winged” Polish cavalry. Overall, the exterior design goes well with the exterior colour as well as the carbon fiber package from the factory. Meanwhile, the interior also gets a carbon fiber pack.

This one-of-a-kind sculpture is something your money cannot buy. Rather, this unique piece will be given as a gift to the 106 owners of McLaren’s next hypercar. As can be expected, this sculpture is a preview of McLaren’s BP23 project.

The BP23 Speed Form, the name of this super valuable sculpture, weighs 7.9 pounds (3.6 kilograms) and measures 15.7 x 8 x 3.1 inches (409 x 205 x 80 millimeters). Each of the 106 examples has been created with the use of the latest five axis CNC cutting technology, while the final touches are made by hand to attain a higher level of “craftsmanship.” Each sculpture needed more than 100 hours to be built, including 30 hours of expert hand polishing. At the end of the process, the sculpture will have to get the approval of a craftsman who checks the quality of each structure, making sure that it has attained the highest quality possible.

According to the automaker, all of the 106 examples of the legendary F1’s three seat successor have already been accounted for. The British automaker claims that this hypercar will be the fastest production McLaren model to date, as it can hit a top speed of 243 miles per hour (391 kilometers per hour) as well as being the car with the highest level of aerodynamics.

Fans of McLaren are sure to be excited as the company has revealed it will be presenting a bespoke Senna Carbon Theme during the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This is one of the five themes that are being developed in partnership with McLaren Special Operations.

As implied by the name, the most striking feature of this model is the complete body kit, all of which is composed of carbon fiber. In addition, the company revealed that this special edition supercar has a total of 67 parts, all of which took an estimated 1,000 hours to make. The Solar Yellow detailing for example took around 250 hours of work.

The black main hue and yellow detailing can be seen on the front active aero blades, the sill exteriors, and the rear wing. This particular color combination on the outside can also be seen on the interior particularly on the Alcantara sports seats in black contrasted by the yellow stitching. Its steering wheel even has a leather centre band in the same yellow hue. While the exterior has the Laurel Green brake calipers, the inside has the doors gas struts in the same color.

In the past couple of months, there have been a number of special edition McLarens that have been released in the past few months. Some of these include the 720S Atlantic Blue and the 570S MSO X. Now, the newest member of the range is arguably more sinister than the rest, and they call it the MSO Black Collection. This McLaren 570GT package will only be limited to 100 examples worldwide, and will definitely see the sporty coupe draped in an all-black, stealth design.

Moving on to the outside, the 570GT will be dressed in a one-off Carbon Black finish, that will be complemented with an MSO Black Pack that replaces the Dark Palladium features available in the standard model.

This includes things like the front and rear splitters, side skirts, and air intakes, and all these will be finished in black. The new set of five twin-spoke lightweight forged wheels will also get a new gloss black diamond finish, which will then be wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. The package also adds carbon ceramic brakes and black brake calipers to the car.

British automaker McLaren developed their MSO (McLaren Special Operations) division to make their already exclusive vehicles a little more bespoke. And today, we are going to discuss some of their newest and coolest products that indicate the company’s expertise in style and performance to the Sports Series range.

For instance, if you own a 570S Coupe, 570GT and 570S Spider, and you want to achieve a meaner sound, you can always order the new titanium exhaust. It is actually lighter than the stock unit by 11 pounds (5 kilograms). Best of all, it makes the sound it produces five decibels louder. MSO claims that the car’s new tone sounds cleaner and crisper, and that this comes from the rear end of the vehicle.

Today, the titanium exhaust runs 4,750 pounds ($6,570 at current exchange rates), and this part can be had in a Nano Black finish, instead of the standard Nano Clear colour. The good news here is that these add-ons will not only be available as an option for new cars, as later this year, MSO will be offering these as an upgrade to already existing Sports Series owners.

McLaren will be offering customers of its Sports Series models more choices when it comes to customizations. The automaker has also upgraded its range of options. Undoubtedly, customers are sure to adore the performance-oriented Sport Pack in the 570GT model as it has many of the advantages offered by the 570S.

Compared to the standard version, the Sport Pack makes the front stiffer by 15% and the rear by 10%. Steering was enhanced as well as it has been made quicker by 2%. In addition to the quicker steering rack and the stiffer springs, the Sport Pack also comes with new damper software and improved stability control settings. Unlike the standard model, the carbon ceramic brakes are now fitted as standard rather than offered as an option. McLaren Automotive has created its first-ever supercar prototype powered fully by electricity. This was confirmed by none other Dan Parry-Williams, the company’s very own Engineering Design Director, in an interview with UK’s Autocar. Not only did Parry-Williams confirm the story but he also provided extra details with regards to the prototype.

In the same interview, Parry-Williams said that the company already has a pure EV and one of the reasons is that the company wanted to know what it took to be able to offer excellent driver engagement in a purely electric world. He added that it has been quite a journey for the company to go from here to there as it relates to the company’s products.

The biggest issue though, Parry-Williams disclosed, continued to be related to the battery technology. This is because a high performance race car would need a large amount of energy. He explained that when it comes to an electric supercar, the batteries are typically drained after only 30 minutes running on the track. Companies in the business of developing batteries still have to address the issue of driving the car at constant high speed.

McLaren Automotive revealed that it officially opened in the U.S. its McLaren F1 Service Center. Based in Pennsylvania, this will be the first such service center in North America. In addition, it will be one of only two service facilities that are authorized to operate out of the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) located in Woking, United Kingdom. The facility is expected to offer both service and maintenance on F1s in North America.

It is important to note that while this new facility is managed by McLaren Philadelphia, it remains to be separate from the main retail facility which is McLaren Philadelphia. This new facility was developed in order to duplicate the services that are provided by the Woking-based MSO. All of the facility’s staff was trained by none other than the in-house technicians of MSO on providing the total F1 service experience. These include the standard annual maintenance all the way to full system refreshes. It even adds in major renovations.

The brand disclosed that the North American service center will be equipped with one of the original sets of special tooling, the same one used to service the F1. This annual service of the F1 generally involves a careful level of inspection done on the vehicle. These would include filters, fluids, full suspension inspection, and replacements for the wider blade. Under this facility, F1 models will get the full “vehicle shakedown” and participate in high speed runs on the runway or a closed test track. This process also entails assessing the vehicle through the model’s full performance envelope. Second annual service though means a higher level when it comes to inspection. Finally it is important that the fuel tank be replaced every five years.
