Can a Dacia Duster be compared with a Ford Mustang? It would be difficult to do so as these vehicles compete in different categories and segments, have different price points and different target markets. Moreover, in terms of power and performance, the Duster couldn’t be compared to a Mustang.
Nonetheless, there is one person who believes that Dacia’s budget SUV is similar to the Ford’s legendary pony car. This person is the chief of design for Group Renault -- Laurens van den Acker. Dacia, the Romanian subsidiary of Group Renault, has been building the Duster since 2009, while Ford has been producing the Mustang since 1965. Despite the Duster being just a decade old, van den Acker told Autocar that the SUV is similar to the Mustang in a sense that it is already an iconic model with an identity stronger than the brand.
Group Renault’s design chief believes that the identity of the Duster as a model is already larger than Dacia as a brand. This is similar to the iconic pony car – the Mustang as a model has a stronger identity than Ford as a brand. The Duster is iconic to Dacia just as the Mustang is iconic for Ford.Read the entire article Group Renault design chief compares the Dacia Duster with Ford Mustang
Duster is currently the best-selling model of Dacia, the Romanian carmaker that is part of the Renault Group. It was built as an SUV, and its smart, no-frill yet practical character made it an appealing vehicle for many. Now, its second-generation model has gained a pickup form.
This pickup version of the Dacia won't be build by the Romanian carmaker. It will be instead be built by a Romania coachbuilder called as SC Romturingia SRL, which is based in Campulung Muscel. Romturingia SRL produces bodywork for vehicles and armored vehicles, special designs for fuel transport, and vehicles with special destinations. It also builds trailers and installs hard-tops for vehicles build by Dacia, Renault, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Ford and Mazda.
Actually, Romturingia and Dacia already had a collaboration to build a pickup version of the Duster. That was way back in 2014, and only 500 examples of the Duster SUV-turned-pickup were built and delivered. However, that collaboration involved the first generation of the Duster, all of these conversions sold to a major fleet customer in Romania. The Duster was first launched in 2009 as the first generation model, with the second generation revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Romturingia newest pickup conversion involved the second generation of the Dacia Duster.Read the entire article Romanian coachbuilder Romturingia converts 2nd-gen Dacia Duster SUV into a pickup
Not so long ago in the United Kingdom, we witnessed how the Ford Fiesta has been converted into a van, and now, the Dacia Duster seems to be getting the same treatment. The Duster Fiskal has been available in Austria for quite some time now, together with the Sandero Fiskal and Logan MCV Fiskal. And the former, actually has been making the transition towards the SUV’s second generation. The said model caters to small businesses, and the utilitarian vehicle will finally let go of the rear bench to allow for more cargo capacity.
The new flat load compartment features a rubber mat that measures 1.64 meters (64.5 inches) long and contains four lashing points to make sure your cargo is secure. Inside, there is also a good quality steel divider wall that separates the passenger area from the cargo compartment, while the rear side windows have been covered instead to avoid those prying eyes looking inside the van. It may seem like Dacia just added a plastic white panel over the Duster Fiskal’s body but that’s not all they have done. Instead, it had been replaced with metal covered by a nice piece of fabric on the inside.
Even though it had not been mentioned in the press release, its load volume is pretty much identical to that of the regular Duster with the rear seats folded. When the seats are down, the front wheel drive model can accommodate 1,636 liters of space, and the 4x4 version can fit up to 1,604 liters.Read the entire article 2018 Dascia Duster Fiskal has been modified into a van
Not many may be familiar with the Dacia Duster, but for those who do, you probably know that it is insanely affordable. After being in the market for seven years, and after over a million units sold, it is finally going to get a second-generation model. To keep up with the current version, while keeping the costs minimal, Renault’s Romanian division will give the new generation the same underpinnings that will be housed in new exterior body as well as a more modern interior.
With this kind of reports circulating the net, it is unavoidable for artists with Photoshop skills to play with its current look and imagine the 2018 model year. For instance, we already found some photos from X-Tomi Design where artists are imagining all sorts of designs for the upcoming Duster. From these photos, we think that two of them may happen, while the other two are merely design experiments - the sporty GT and the three-door.
This basic version of the model with the unpainted bumpers could be an entry-level trim of the 2018 Dacia Duster. As you can see, it rides on a set of steel wheels, with unpainted side mirrors and door handles. We also heard that the company might lose the fog lights to really keep the starting price low. Some people may wonder why, but if the SUV’s unique selling point is its very affordable price, then you will probably agree.Read the entire article Check out these renderings of the 2018 Dacia Duster: Pickup truck, gt or coupe
Seven years after commencing sales of the first generation of the Dacia Duster sports utility vehicle, Renault’s accessible brand will be taking the wraps off the second-generation model at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Although the second generation of the Duster is all new – from its exterior and interior styling and to its new equipment and features – it really builds on the attributes that made the first generation model a resounding success. These attributes aren’t really broken, so it would be illogical for Dacia to totally scrap them. Instead, Dacia has decided to build on these strengths, resulting in a new generation of the Duster with an evolutionary – instead of revolutionary – design. After, after seven years of sales, Dacia has already sold more than a million units of the Duster and counting.
Dacia has been kind enough to provide a number of details about the second generation of the budget-friendly SUV, including a number of images that fully reveal the looks of the new Duster. These images clearly reveal a Dacia with more modern look, as it remains robust, muscular and assertive. Wrapped in a new body color -- Atacama Orange – the second-gen Dacia as seen on the images evolves and enhances the styling of the original model. Dacia is hoping that the new Duster would continue the success of the first generation, and we believe it could.Read the entire article Dacia unveils new generation of the Duster SUV at 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
The new 2017 Dacia Duster is furthering its already appealing proposition with an array of upgrades. Starting October this year, the Duster – the Lauréate and flagship Prestige 4x2 models in particular -- could be availed with an automatic six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) gearbox. This EDC transmission fuses the comfort and smoothness of an automatic gearbox with the low fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions of a manual gearbox – while still allowing the Duster to be as affordable as it has been.
With this gearbox, drivers could expect a simpler and smoother drive. This system features Hill Start Assist which could hold the brakes for a limited period during a start on a sloping terrain, thereby giving drivers enough time to step on the brakes.
This means drivers won’t roll back unintentionally as the SUV moves away. When paired to the EDC transmission, the models’ 1.5 dCi 110 turbodiesel engine could return 62.8mpg (NEDC combined) and emit 116 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. Dacia will commence sales of the Duster EDC in the United Kingdom at a starting price of £14,895 on-the-road.Read the entire article Dacia Duster greets 2017 with numerous upgrades including automatic EDC transmission
Back in 2014, Mercedes-Benz’s high performance division, the Mercedes-AMG GmbH (AMG in short), debuted a two-door two-seat grand tourer coupe that was built to challenge the Porsche 911. Unveiled to the public during the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the Mercedes-AMG GT was built to last in a faceoff with its arch nemesis, the Porsche 911.
The Mercedes-AMG GT has two performance options: the standard GT and the high performance GT S. Both cars run on the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine except that the GT is slightly less powerful with 469 horsepower and 433 lb.-ft. torque on tap while the GT S has 503 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. torque. Of course, since there is a difference in power, there is also a slight difference in the acceleration time.
The GT can sprint through 60 mph in 3.9 seconds while the GT S can go in only 3.7 seconds – only a 0.2 second difference. Moreover, the GT can hit a top speed of only 202 mph, 8 mph slower than that of the 210 mph on the GT S.Read the entire article 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R raises the bar, now ready for Goodwood debut

Dacia has unveiled its face-lifted 2014 Dacia Duster at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. At the launch of the 2013 Festival of Speed, Mercedes-Benz put on display two exceptional, aluminium-bodied, rear wheel drive vehicles that were built 58 years apart. Displayed at the Goodwood Hill were the 300 SLR “Uhlenhaut” Coupé, which was produced in 1955 and driven by Jochen Mass, and the SLS AMG GT, its modern successor and the first example to make it to the UK.
On the surface, they’re highly similar. They’re both front-engined and use rear wheel drive and come with roof-hinged “gullwing” doors. But there are more similarities. Both use a lot of aluminium to cut the weight and boost the strength. Each vehicle uses a hand-built, eight-cylinder engine and was built by a comparably small, very skilled and dedicated team.
The “Uhlenhaut” Coupé is named after Rudolf Uhlenhaut, the famous engineer and formerly the head of vehicle development and creator of the 300 SLR. Built in 1955, the “Uhlenhaut” Coupé is based on highly successful racers, who are most known for the win at Mille Miglia victory of Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson.Read the entire article Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe, SLS AMG GT show up at Goodwood

Goodwood is paying homage to the Porsche 911 at the 2013 Festival of Speed on July 11 to 14.
