Making its global debut at the Goodwood Hill during the press launch day of the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the new Jaguar XFR-S, prototype version of carmaker’s fastest sports saloon. Finished in Italian Racing Red, the Jaguar XFR-S was driven in front of the press at Goodwood by Andy Wallace, victor of the 1988 Le Mans 24 Hours.
Joining the Jaguar XFR-S at press day of Goodwood Festival of Speed are some of the carmaker’s winning sports vehicles. Among them is a 1962 Jaguar Mk. II prepared by Jaguar Heritage Racing and a 1954 ‘short nose’ Jaguar D-Type that is also a development prototype. The vehicles were displayed by the Jaguar Heritage Trust in front of Goodwood House.
The new Jaguar XFR-S, first unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2012, could accelerate from rest to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 186mph (300km/h). Unveiled in April this year, the 2019 Jaguar XE 300 Sport special edition is out to prove that it is potent enough to set new records. It just did so after breaking the decades-old record at the original track of the Circuit de Charade in France.
Located in Saint-Genes-Champanelle, France, the modern Circuit de Charade is a technical circuit with a total distance of 3.975 km (2.470 mi) and a total of 18 turns. A challenging circuit for many drivers, the current circuit is not how it used to look around 30 years ago. After all, the modern Circuit de Charade just came into existence in 1989. It was built using the southern portion of the original Circuit de Charade.
The original Circuit de Charade is considered as an iconic circuit in France, having hosted the French Grand Prix four times (1965, 1969-1970, 1972) and the French motorcycle Grand Prix ten times (1959-1964, 1966-1967, 1972, 1974). It is quite common to see Mercedes-Benz taxis plying the streets of Germany. Mercedes-Benz E-Class taxi models can be found in almost every taxi stand throughout the country. In fact, three of every five taxis in Germany are Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Mercedes’ dominance in its home country isn't expected to be toppled soon, but Jaguar Land Rover of the United Kingdom is taking its chances with the new Jaguar I-Pace.
While 60 percent of all taxis in Germany being Mercedes E-Class, Jaguar is only sending 10 units of the I-Pace. Likewise, these 10 I-Pace units will only be fielded in the city of Munich, which is the home city of another German premium carmaker – BMW. The Jaguar I-Pace crossover taxis will be fielded in the city by Munich’s largest taxi operator.
In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover chief executive Ralf Speth said that the carmaker is inviting people in Munich not just to drive electric vehicles, but also drive Jaguar. He remarked that one of the reasons that Jaguar Land Rover deployed the I-Pace taxis in Munich is the mixed traffic. You may have already heard that Jaguar wants to expand its sports car portfolio beyond the current F-Type lineup. But how will the company do it? Well, we have been hearing about a rebooted XK that will join the aforementioned F-Type as a more practical alternative with enough space in the back for two passengers. If our sources from Autocar are correct, then the scenario seems to be more likely.
The sources told the British publication that an XK successor is indeed included in the plans, however, the earliest this could be launched is probably in 2021. Interestingly, there is already a design concept for the third generation XK, which was already ready even before the nameplate was ended in 2014. But ultimately, Jaguar decided to pull the plug and discontinue the model entirely so they could focus on other models.
If a new XK does come into production, it is said to be based on the next generation F-Type that’s scheduled to arrive as early as next year. The current F-Type actually uses updated underpinnings of the old XK and will benefit from revised hardware for its next iteration. On May 19, 2018, everybody from all over the world was tuned into the royal wedding, and of course, in an event like that, every single detail matters - from the wedding cake to the bride’s dress. But in our case, our eyes were glued to the wedding car. As Prince Harry and Meghan left Windsor Castle in London in a Jaguar Classic all electric E-type, which first made its appearance in 2017 at the Tech Fest event in London. If you recall, the automaker has promised that all its production vehicles will be electric by 2020.
But before the wedding began, Meghan arrived at the Windsor Castle in Queen Elizabeth II’s 1950 Phantom IV. This car was built for her when she was still a princess.
The E-type Zero is based on a 1968 Series 1 1/2 E-type. Sometime in its life, this car had been fitted with an American V8 engine. For quite some time now, we have been seeing the Jaguar F-Pace SVR being tested on the roads. We last saw it near the Nurburgring but this prototype was in a camouflaged suit even as it showed off its new performance credentials. Nevertheless, we will not have to wait too long until we see the prototype stripped off of its camouflage, and in person. Jaguar has officially announced the F-Pace SVR’s debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show.
If asked about the model, the automaker will say that the Jaguar F Pace SVR is currently the fastest and most powerful of its kind. This is because it had been equipped with a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 engine that works with a 10 speed automatic transmission.
This engine, when in the F-Pace SUV, is slightly detuned. But this can also be found in the F-Type SVR and carries out 567 horsepower (422 kilowatts) and 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres) of torque. Nicko McBrain isn’t just famous for being the drummer of the already legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden as he is also known for his utter love of Jaguar cars. At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Jaguar Classic is presenting a McBrain-commissioned custom-built 1984 Jaguar XJ6 dubbed as the ‘Greatest Hits.’
The unveiling of the Greatest Hits XJ6 practically kicked off the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Jaguar XJ this year. The XJ is now 50 years old, and the bespoke Jaguar Classic commission is a great example of how this full-size luxury saloon has been able to stand the test of time. McBrain now considers the Greatest Hits as his ultimate dream XJ.
Expert engineers and skilled craftsmen at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works spent over 3,500 man hours to recreate the 1984 XJ6 into the Greatest Hits XJ6. The project also involved more than 4000 replaced, redesigned or refinished parts. It was sometime in early 2017 when we last heard from Jaguar regarding the XJ’s successor at the New York Auto Show. At that time, it was the general manager of North American product management, David Larsen who talked about the up and coming XJ. Ian Callum, who is in charge of Jaguar’s design, told CAR Magazine that the new range topper is “nearly signed off”. And so we are assuming that we will be seeing the XJ in one version or another very soon. With all the developments going on in Jaguar, this is surely exciting news.
Callum gave us a little more idea of what is happening internally, and apparently, there have been a lot of arguments regarding the XJ’s direction – specifically on where the next generation model should go. So the team ended up deciding that the XJ’s successor will be “something quite special”.
However, they did not share further details apart from that. If you were not aware, the outgoing XJ was actually launched in 2009 and it is the oldest model in its class today. A vehicle with an SVR badge is considered as a special vehicle with higher levels of performance. Not all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles have received the badge, and one of these unfortunate models is the Jaguar XF midsize luxury car (saloon and estate). But for now, people could stop dreaming about the Jaguar XF SVR. However, it is interesting to see how a Jaguar XF SVR would look like even on paper.
Thankfully, there is someone – an automotive designer named Aksyonov Nikita of St. Petersburg, Russia – who might be able satisfy that interest. After all, Nikita has already rendered an SVR version of a 2017 Jaguar XF saloon. Since it is just a rendering, this model – the 2017 Jaguar XF SVR – could only remain in the imagination of people longing for a high-performance version of the saloon. Nonetheless, the rendering by Nikita shows how the Jaguar XF SVR might look like – with more black details, a rear wing, a front lip spoiler, quad exhausts as well as other details that makes this higher performance version look sportier and faster.
Jaguar and Land Rover models that have received the SVR badge from the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) are vehicles considered to have reached the pinnacle of performance as defined by Jaguar Land Rover and with attributes like power, handling and speed. If the Jaguar XF is to receive that badge, there is a need to justify why it has to bear the SVR name. But the sad thing is that even people at Jaguar are thinking that the XF won’t need the badge. The 2018 Jaguar XEL with its stretched-out wheelbase and longer doors is the newest addition to the growing list of premium sedans in China---joining the ranks of Mercedes-Benz C-Class L, BMW 3Li and Audi A4L in the long wheelbase category.
Given the increased wheelbase measurement, the XEL is basically an upsized XE variant. But to further differentiate between the regular XE and the elongated sedan, the XEL’s side sills and door handles have been specially painted in chrome in addition to the special XEL badges placed across the windows.
The wheelbase now has an overall measurement of 2,935mm (or 115.5 inches) after Jaguar has extended the distance between the two axles by 3.9 inches (100mm). In contrast, the standard XF’s wheelbase is longer by an inch or 25mm. The already potent Jaguar F-Pace S trim with 380hp (283kW) on the hood gains a few more muscles courtesy of Arden Tuning from Germany. After doing its magical ritual on the F-Pace, the supercharged 3.0- liter V6 engine now produces up to 410 hp with a more handsome body to boot.
The German tuning house has recently announced its Jaguar F-Pace Arden AJ 25 tuning kit featuring an extensive lineup of aesthetic enhancements for both the SUV’s interior and exterior.

Several automakers including Porsche, Volkswagen, Smart and even Land Rover have all been victimized by cheap Chinese copycats. And if you haven’t seen it yet, the most recent one would be the Range Rover Evoque’s near exact Chinese replica, called the LandWind X7 that was introduced two years ago. In fact, both models almost look identical except for some tweaks. To prevent this from happening, the British automaker is thinking of implementing a new strategy - that is to hold off on showing concept cars too early.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design boss, recently said that they are now wary of showing concepts years before they’re produced because they fear that the Chinese will replicate them. This is because some of these Chinese brands are very quick at manufacturing and that they could easily beat the production version to the market. Apart from delaying the introduction of concept cars, Jaguar Land Rover has also filed copyrights and competition complaints in China against the LandWind X7.
Just last week, McGovern also said that they are nervous about introducing their concepts as they can simply be copied just like what happened with the Range Rover Evoque. Jaguar has just released the first official image of its newest offering, the new Jaguar XEL. Essentially the long-wheelbase version of the Jaguar XE compact sedan, the new Jaguar XEL is designed to offer a more spacious interior and is targeted only towards the large auto market in China.
Customers in China are known to prefer premium vehicles, especially ones that offer a spacious rear cabin. This is primarily because more Chinese customers like to be chauffeured, instead of being behind the steering. Because of this, vehicles offering more than ample legroom in the rear cabin are heavily desired by Chinese customers. To this end, carmakers are incessant in offering lengthy vehicles or long-wheelbase versions of their current models. Jaguar has already joined the long list of carmakers trying to get a chunk of the humongous auto market in China. Just last year, Jaguar launched the long-wheelbase version of the XF – the XFL – in the country. Now, the British carmaker officially revealed the looks of the new Jaguar XEL.
Overall, the Jaguar XEL basically looks like the Jaguar XE, except for some tweaks on the dimensions of a number of its parts to accommodate the longer wheelbase. Jaguar Land Rover fans can now drive some of the marque’s most classic vehicles. The automaker just launched a classic driving experience that will be held at Eastnor Castle, Herefordshire, UK. For a price, customers are eligible to spend the whole day test-driving classic models including the Jaguar E-Type, Land Rover Series I, and even their most famous 4x4s. Other models include the Range Rover Classic, Series I and Series III (introduced in 1971)
But that is not all. There will also be a selection of sportier cars from their sister company, Jaguar, such as the XK150 from the late 1950s, the Series I E-Type from the 1960s, a Series III E-Type from the 70s and another famous model, the Mk2.
To take part in this event, customers will have to be willing to spend £495 (around $647). As mentioned earlier, this will happen in and around Eastnor Castle estate, which is also where the automaker develops their modern off-roaders. Customers will be able to experience driving the company’s current models on the dirt tracks and the challenging slopes around the estate as well. When an auto manufacturer as large as Jaguar Land Rover has already filled its coffers, and has the backing of one of the largest conglomerates in the world, it could be time for it to expand its reach beyond its current scope. According to Automotive News Europe, citing people privy with the matter, Jaguar Land Rover is eyeing certain acquisitions that might advance its capabilities and offerings down the road.
As reported, the British carmaker owned by Tata Motors – or ultimately by the Tata Group -- is holding internal discussions over acquiring other luxury brands to further diversify its vehicle range. Hoping to acquire international carmakers, Jaguar Land Rover might soon find itself producing and selling another luxury brand. However, Jaguar Land Rover would only be acquiring a luxury brand that would fit its current portfolio, one of the sources told Automotive News Europe.
Likewise, the British carmaker might acquire a tech company that could boost its capabilities in the fields of electrified vehicles and autonomous driving systems, another source told Automotive News Europe. Currently, the brands under Jaguar Land Rover don’t offer any electric vehicle or even a plug-in hybrid unit. That ends next year when Jaguar Land Rover finally introduces the fully electric Jaguar I-PACE, with the carmaker already receiving 25,000 orders for the new EV. Just a month ago, Wolfgang Durheimer, the former president of Bugatti, was removed from the company so he could replace Stephan Winkelmann, former Lamborghini CEO and Audi Sport boss as he leaves the company. This time, Durheimer will be moved out of Bentley as well, so he could be replaced by a Jaguar Land Rover executive. This man has been Bentley’s CEO and Bugatti’s president since 2014.
Adrian Hallmark will take Durheimer’s position as Bentley CEO, says Manager Magazine. The respected executive is the current head of strategy for Jaguar Land Rover, and has worked for companies like Porsche, VW Asia, and even Saab in his earlier years. It was in 2010 when he finally joined Jaguar. Furthermore, Hallmark already has a history with Bentley, as he had helped boost sales from 1,000 to 10,000 units.
Jaguar Land Rover describes Hallmark as a “very hands on” kind of man. He is so committed to his projects that he puts himself into them, and he likes being able to shape things himself. This is a trait that not many executives possess. Following the unveiling of the 2018 Jaguar XJR 575 performance flagship, quite a number of interested customers have already marked this sedan for their next buy. For the 2018 model, the new XJR575 luxury sedan will be available in either standard or long-wheelbase body styles. Both body styles have the same height (1,460 mm) and width (2,105 mm) as well as front and rear tracks (1,626 mm and 1,604 mm, respectively). While the standard wheelbase unit (SWB) has a length of 5,130 mm and a wheelbase of 3,032 mm, the long wheelbase version (LWB) features a length of 5,255 mm and a wheelbase of 3,157 mm.
Serving as the core of the new XJR575 is Jaguar Land Rover’s 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine that now delivers 575 PS (423 kW) – thus the 575 moniker suffix – with a max output at between 6,250 rpm and 6,500 rpm and a massive 700 Nm (517 lb.-ft.) of peak torque available between 3,500 rpm and 4,500 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a specifically optimized eight-speed automatic ZF 8HP70 transmission. From 2020 onwards, Jaguar and Land Rover will offer an electrified version of each of the models in their range. So far, they have released two new concepts to kick off the switch they will be making in the future. Not only do the examples look fashionable, but they are also electrified. During the JLR Tech Festival, Jaguar came out with an all-electric E-Type together with an autonomous EV concept that informs us how the future will look by the year 2040.
It was JLR’s CEO Dr Ralf Speth who first announced their electrification plans, one of which is to introduce a portfolio of electrified products that include fully electric, plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid vehicles. The first electrified model that they will release will be the fully electric performance SUV, the Jaguar I-Pace, which should head to dealerships by next year. They are one of the newest companies to commit to a future of electric drive, after Volvo’s announcement earlier this summer.

The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is the leaping cat’s first venture into the compact SUV segment, and sure enough, it didn’t take long before an artist rendered a wilder version of the small SUV. Enter the Jaguar E-Pace RS by X-Tomi Design - the artist’s own interpretation of the SUV with unusual performance.
To start off, X-Tomi enhances the size of the small SUV’s front bumper and side skirts. Perhaps, these are done to match the ideal standards of a possible Jaguar E-Pace high performance RS variant. There are also some visibly larger wheels, black accents and bits of carbon fiber to complete the high-performance look.
Being the newest member of the brand’s growing range of SUVs, the E-Pace is designed as a five-seater, small SUV that offers plenty of space as well as the latest connected technologies available. Among them are the infotainment system’s 10-inch touch screen monitor with 3 adjustable controllers for the fan speed and temperature setting, a head-up display screen as well as a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The storage space between the two front seats is at 2.2 gallon while the rear area has a capacity of up to 22.4cu.ft.
