BMW has just unveiled the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. This concept vehicle serves as the precursor model for the upcoming new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, providing a glimpse of how these models could look like.
Nonetheless, concept models are usually more aggressive and more dramatic in terms of design compared to the production model. Thus, when BMW M8 Gran Coupe becomes a reality, it is expected to be a subtle version of the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe. To help us imagine how the BMW M8 Gran Coupe might actually look like when it comes to life, X-Tomi Design has created a rendering of the production model.
X-Tomi Design made sure that the rendered BMW M8 Gran Coupe doesn’t stray away too much from the BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe in terms of exterior looks. The rendered M8 Gran Coupe by X-Tomi Design features a front end defined by a slightly taller grille.Read the entire article X-Tomi imagines production version of BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe
German premium carmaker BMW is officially previewing in metal the precursor model for the most exotic variant of its new flagship model. Providing a glimpse of the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is being unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Essentially, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe serves as a follow up for the BMW 8 Series Coupe Concept. Unveiled in 2017, the 8 Series Coupe Concept offers a glimpse into the possible design of the much-awaited 8 Series grand tourer that will be launched into the market this year as part of BMW’s massive product offensive. Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design, remarked that the Concept M8 Gran Coupe serves as a window to what he described as the most exotic and alluring variant of the new 8 Series flagship. It defines luxury in a whole new meaning – it is polarizing and ultra-sporty.
Just like the BMW Concept 8 Series, the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe is influenced by BMW’s new design language, as evident on its expressive surfaces, which graphic arrangement is underscored by precise character lines. The front end sports a muscular, precisely contoured bonnet as well as radiator grille kidneys which contours broaden as they drop towards the road to emphasize the low center of gravity of the Concept M8 Gran Coupe.Read the entire article BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe unveiled at 2018 Geneva Motor Show
For many, a dream car shouldn’t be just spacious and luxurious, but also fast and furious. The BMW M3 might be just this kind of dream car, but an M version of the 4-Series Gran Coupe would still be a better choice. But to no avail, an M4 Gran Coupe isn't happening yet, even after the 4 Series just recently received a Life Cycle Impulse (mid-cycle update).
BMW Abu Dhabi – which describes itself as an exclusive importer for BMW, MINI and BMW ALPINA in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, United Arab Emirates – has come up with a modified version of a 4-Series Gran Coupe that could be the closest thing we could get to an M4 Gran Coupe. BMW Abu Dhabi has been known for its knack in creating leveled-up versions of a typical BMW vehicle, and this latest custom-build isn't an exception.
BMW Abu Dhabi started off with a regular BMW 440i Gran Coupe. Wrapped in elegant yet sporty Snapper Rocks Blue paint finish, this 440i Gran Coupe is hugged by athletic body kit from M Performance – from its bottom to the top. Its black kidney grilles features M-colored vertical stripes on the front while its rear end features M Performance trunk lid spoiler, as complemented by an Akrapovic exhaust system with an Akrapovic Sport downpipe. Furthermore, this custom-built BMW 440i Gran Coupe rides on 20-inch M Performance wheels. Its driver is treated to an M Performance steering wheel; except for this, the interior of this new 440i Gran Coupe remains the same when it was delivered from the factory.Read the entire article BMW Abu Dhabi wraps Snapper Rocks Blue 440i Gran Coupe in M4-like guise
BMW’s Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe is no doubt one of the most desirable models out there considering that it comes with almost the whole package. From a head-turning exterior design, impressive power, practical features, and an upscale interior. Depending on how you are feeling, it can be sporty when you want it to be, or it can be the most relaxing cruiser to drive you out of the city without breaking a sweat. And since the Alpina has been pretty successful since it first came out in 2014, the company joined forces with BMW again to create this special edition B6 Gran Coupe.
This one-of-a-kind model has been given quite a lengthy name as the “BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition”. This model was especially made for an upcoming raffle that had been organized by the BMW Car Club of America. On the outside, it wears a signature Blue Metallic paint that represents Alpina, matched with a lovely white leather interior with piano black accents all over.
There is more to the four-door grand tourer’s interior. There are a number of silver inscriptions against a high-gloss lacquer finish on the center console too, while the steering wheel is hand-finished and comes with white stitching details to complement the seat upholstery. This is also why the Alpina B6 gets white piping on the floor and a set of trunk mats. To finish off the look, Alpina put B6 embossed logos onto the headrests.Read the entire article Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe BMW CCA Edition was made as a raffle prize
The automotive community is now anticipating what BMW will do next after it unveiled the Concept 8 Series a few days ago at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy as a preview of the 8 Series production model anticipated to arrive in 2018.
The resurrection of the notable badge, which is slated for next year, will have the 2-door coupe variant heading up the lineup. Nevertheless, more body styles will later join the range in the future. According to different sources, a Convertible and a Gran Coupe will see the daylight soon. But will a shooting brake be included?
It was an ecstatic few days when the German automaker unveiled the adorable 8 Series concept and afterwards someone skilled with Photoshop removed its roof to showcase an imagined convertible, one that might actually occur in real life. The person in question is now delving into the idea of other hypothetical derivatives for the sophisticated coupe by envisioning a Gran Coupe model that is made with an unexpected shooting brake and an unanticipated pickup truck. After the 8 Series concept was revealed, renderers just couldn’t resist the urge to come up with their various examples of the said concept.Read the entire article X-Tomi Design renders BMW 8 Series as Gran Coupe, shooting brake, pickup truck
What defines a coupe? Well, according to the dictionary, “it is a car with a fixed roof and two doors”. Ok, now that it is clear, when does one not become a coupe? In this case, it is when it is a BMW Gran Coupe. You might think I’m confusing you here, but read along.
The 4 Series Gran Coupe was built with four doors and a liftback-style truck on its rear end. That simple description of the model will already raise several brows as it doesn’t correspond with the definition stated above. And if you think about it, its actually just a functional sedan. Now you get where I’m coming from. Though the car doesn’t match the name given to it, it is actually one of BMW’s best selling cars, out-selling the two-door coupe where it got its inspiration.
In fact, despite its later release, the total number of Gran Coupe that has been sold is higher than the figures of the traditional Coupe and the Convertible, combined - according to sales statistics shared by BMW. Globally, the Grand Coupe covers 54 percent of all 4 Series sales, whereas the remaining 46 percent is a shared by the traditional coupe and convertible.Read the entire article BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe sells better than the Coupe and Convertible
With rumors swirling that German premium carmaker BMW is working hard to reincarnate the 8 Series -- its biggest two-door ever made – it can’t be helped that another resurrection related to the 8 Series is now being speculated.
We are referring to the long-dead M8 which BMW never really produced and which was only seen as a single prototype. BMW originally intended the BMW M8 to be a rival for Ferrari’s sports cars. To that end, BMW developed a special version of the S70 engine – which is in turn a bored out version of the M70 powerplant -- and made it so that it could generate at most 550 hp (410 kW or 558 PS).
Incidentally, the M8 was born in 1990, although in pre-production form. But since BMW realized that a market doesn’t exist for the M8, it decided to drop the project indefinitely. By the time the M8 project was thrown to the trash bin, BMW has only created one prototype, which according to reports, wasn’t even safe enough to be driven on the roads. It doesn’t even have headlights! This M8 prototype was eventually locked away in BMW’s so-called poison storage (Giftschrank).Read the entire article BMW is rumored to build the mythical M8 in coupe, convertible and gran coupe versions
BMW’s latest Grand Tourer variant can finally stand beside Porsche’s range topping Panamera Turbo S, the A7 (Audi’s grand touring luxury sedan) or even a Mercedes-Benz S Class coupe. BMW last week has announced the release of the M Sport Limited Edition. According to the company, the enhancement package will be offered on the 6 Series Gran Coupe, the 6 Series Convertible as well as the 6 Series Coupe.
Other than the existing M badge and aero kits, there are several new optional features that have been made available exclusively for BMW’s 6 Series. Among its exterior upgrades are the new carbon fiber side mirror casings, 20-inch M light alloy wheels with two-color paint scheme, and the latest Sonic Speed Blue Metallic paint.
The M Sport Limited Edition 6 Series interior meanwhile consists of fine-grain Merino leather for the seats courtesy of BMW Individual, the Bavarian automaker’s bespoke division. The seat upholstery will come in two-tone combination of fjord blue and black leather that is only exclusive to the M package.Read the entire article BMW introduces the 6-Series M Sport Limited Edition
It has been a while since BMW launched the third generation of the BMW 6 Series, both as a coupe and as a convertible. That was way back 2011, and today the BMW 6 Series remains one of the sought-after models in its segment. While we are waiting for the next generation of the BMW 6 Series to arrive, we could feast on a refreshed version of the model for the United States market for the 2018 model year.
Honestly, the 2018 BMW 6 Series – remains as it is. This means customers shouldn’t expect any radical mechanical changes or inner working revisions on the latest version of the BMW 6 Series, which means the Coupe, Convertible and the Gran Coupe. However, BMW has decided to beef up the looks of the 6 Series in a bid to tease customers up before the arrival of the next generation models. Apparently, these cosmetic and equipment tweaks are able – somehow – make the 2018 BMW 6 Series still as appealing that it is still worth the purchase.
These new cosmetic and equipment options are all available for the 2018 versions of the BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe – encompassing sporty modifications to both the interior and the exterior of these refreshed models. For the exterior, the 2018 BMW 6 Series Convertible and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe could be provided with a new M Sport Package that was previously exclusive for the M model.Read the entire article BMW 6 Series gets ready for the 2018MY
In line with the 100th anniversary celebration of BMW Japan, the brand has once again released another limited-edition model which is the BMW 640i Gran Coupe. Specifically however, this new version will be the 12th such model that is part of the brand’s “Celebration Edition”. The new model will be based on the 640i that has been fitted with the M Sport package.
For the general features, it is easy to see that this Exclusive Sport model does not add anything new considering that all of the add-ons put on it can be applied as well on the standard 6 Series Gran Coupe. The body comes in Sapphire Black Metallic with the alloy 20-inch M wheels. There is also the aluminum side window BMW Individual moldings applied in addition to the M Sport body kit.
On the interior, one can observe that an electric sunroof has been fitted as standard. Then there is the Alcantara headliner, the same one in the BMW Individual catalog. While the dashboard has been wrapped in leather that comes with contrast stitching, the seats are covered in black/cognac Nappa leather. Meanwhile, the brand made sure to give the iDrive controller a ceramic finish. To serve as evidence that this is not your standard 640i Gran Coupe, the interior has the piano black trim that has the Exclusive Sport badge.Read the entire article BMW Japan releases limited-edition 6 Series Gran Coupe Exclusive Sport

For those who were looking for a cheaper alternative to the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and were waiting for an M4 Gran Coupe, we have bad news as the German manufacturer will not offer such a vehicle. These words came from BMW’s M GmbH sales boss Jorg Bartels. Apparently, BMW considered the M4 Gran Coupe but abandoned the plans.
Bartels also added that BMW doesn’t build the 4-Series Gran Coupe in the same factory where it builds the 3-Series Sedan and 4-Series Coupe, which means it will need to make lots of changes. BMW currently builds the M3 Sedan (F30) and the 3-Series Sedan (F30) at its Regensburg factory, while the M4 Coupe (F82) and 4-Series Coupe (F32) at its Munich plant.
The 4-Series Gran Coupe (F36) is built at the Dingolfing factory. So, if you want a powerful version of the 4-Series Gran Coupe you have to choose the 435i Gran Coupe, which uses a 3.0-liter engine that delivers 306 hp (225 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.Read the entire article BMW M4 Gran Coupe not coming, says Jorg Bartels
