2018 LA Auto Show: Audi unveils e-tron GT concept four-door coupe with a low floor

According to the German premium carmaker, the production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept is set to arrive in around two years. This means that could expect the third member of the e-tron family by late 2020, with initial deliveries set in early 2021. It follows the Audi e-tron SUV as well as the Audi e‑tron Sportback scheduled for 2019.

As designed, the Audi e-tron GT concept features the proportions of a classic Gran Turismo – flat and wide with a long wheelbase – as reflected on its dimensions of 4.96 meters (16.3 ft.) in length, 1.96 meters (6.4 ft.) in width and 1.38 meters (4.5 ft.) in height. Its overall shape is marked by a gently sloping roofline extending into the rear, a cabin tapering strongly toward the rear, well-sculpted wheel arches and shoulders as well as a flat floor that is unusual for an EV. The e-tron GT concept is wrapped in a new exterior color kinetic dust, which is a warm, dark color similar to titanium.

The Audi e-tron GT concept boasts of new arrow-shaped front section marked by the hallmark Audi Singleframe with a more horizontal architecture -- the upper half featuring a cover in body color. The grille is flanked by matrix LED headlights with laser high beam as well as animated function. Audi Atom Concept rendering seems to preview a future GT

Just a month ago, Audi unveiled one of its latest studies -- the new Audi Aicon Concept car -- at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show to show how the carmaker visualizes the future of autonomous vehicles. That concept looked so promising, especially when we take into consideration that it was supposed to be a fully self-driving luxury vehicle in which a ferried passenger just has to sit back, relax and wait for his or her arrival at a preset destination.

Now, here comes the Audi Atom, a concept that also visualizes the future. It looks so promising that it appears like it was a preview for the Audi R8 of the future. There is one big exception, though. This Atom isn’t from Audi. In fact, Audi didn’t even design this Atom. Actually, this Audi Concept Atom is a rendering created by a Russian graphic artist named Konstantin Pankratov who shared this work on online professional sharing site Behance.

Sadly though, Pankratov didn’t provide any detail or description of the Audi Concept Atom. However, we could make assumptions just by looking at this rendered creation. The appearance of this Audi Atom is definitely assertive. However, it isn’t aggressive enough to be regarded as a supercar or a hypercar. Usually, design studies or concept are heavily aggressive and boasts of extra-dramatic designs. If this Audi Atom previews a future Audi hypercar, it should have very forceful appearance. But as we said, this Atom doesn’t have that particular look.

Nissan has unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show a new concept vehicle which design and advance technology provides a glimpse of what customers can expected from Nissan’s next generation of crossovers. This new showcar – the all-new new Nissan IMQ concept vehicle – could be considered as an amalgamation of Japanese heritage with modern human-centric technology.

Design to cater to the European market, the new Nissan IMQ concept boasts of electrified propulsion, although the car itself isn't an electric vehicle. It features the next generation of e-POWER, which a 100-percent electric motor drive system allows for instant, linear acceleration. This system – designed to deliver 250 kW of max output and 700 Nm of peak torque -- is an evolution of the e-POWER technology found in the Nissan Note and Serena models in Japan. The new system directs output via a new multi-motor all-wheel-drive system. By combining e-POWER and AWD, the IMQ concept could excel even in low-grip conditions.

Aside from the next generation of the e-POWER, the new IMQ comes fitted an advanced prototype version of Nissan's ProPILOT driving assistance system and the carmaker’s Invisible-to-Visible technology that was revealed at the CES 2019. This new Invisible-to-Visible (I2V) technology allows drivers see around corners, as well as visualize information about traffic jams and determine optional routes.

Audi has finally taken the veil off its latest electrified creation at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – the new the Audi Q4 e-tron concept. This new concept car is a compact four-door SUV that basically provides a good look at the German premium carmaker’s fifth batter electric vehicle that would enter the automotive market by the end of 2020.

Wrapped in “Solar Sky” paint finish, the exterior of the new Audi Q4 e-tron concept is only constrained by its compact dimensions pegged at 4.59 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.61 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 2.77 meters. It is almost impossible not to indentify the Q4 e-tron concept as an Audi, as the prototype is marked by on the front end by Singleframe with the four rings.

Furthermore, it is also fairly easy to distinguish the concept as an electric Audi e-tron as it features upright octagonal frame instead of a traditional radiator grille. Large inlets can be found extending from below the concept’s two matrix LED headlights to the front apron.

It looks like Aston Martin will soon be following up its Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro offerings with a third hypercar. This comes as Aston Martin presented the design concept for the new AM-RB 003 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Showin Switzerland.

Its terms of styling and aerodynamics, the new AM-RB 003 shares the same fundamental philosophy with the Aston Martin Valkyrie. This is evident on the pronounced front keel and large rear diffuser. In addition, the AM-RB 003 features a variable airfoil that spans across the rear wing. This variable airfoil is made possible by a new technology from FlexSys Inc. – FlexFoil.

With this new system in place, the downforce AM-RB 003 can be changed without changing the physical angle of the entire element. This new system also virtually gets rid of the turbulence and the associated drag increase in present active wing designs.

Now, Carlex Design seems to be not contented with how far it has gone with the X-Class and is now presenting a new concept design for the luxury SUV from Mercedes.

While offering a drive that is comparable to a sports utility vehicle, the X-Class also delivers a smooth, comfortable ride that is expected of luxurious vehicles. The up-and-coming Audi E-tron GT four-door sports car is one of the electric cars that the premium carmaker has promised to deliver before 2025. But as early as now, some details have emerged about the new electric offering from Audi, as divulged by two of the company’s top men to Autocar.

Nonetheless, he noted that this range would be achieve without hindering potential of the E-tron GT four-door sports car, as this new EV would be “focused more towards power.”

Providing the power for the new Audi E-tron SUV is a 95-kWh lithium-ion battery that brings into life its two electric motors (dual asynchronous motors), with a motor placed on each axle for an all-wheel drive performance. The electric powertrain of the E-tron SUV delivers up to 265 kW (355 hp) of output and up to 413 lb-ft. of torque. But when the “boost mode” is activated, the electric motors will also deliver more power to the wheels, to up to 300 kW (402 hp) of output and up to 490 lb-ft. of torque. In this boost mode, the E-tron SUV can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

Just last month, Porsche unveiled the new 935 during the “Rennsport Reunion” motorsport event at Laguna Seca Raceway in California. Featuring a body evoking the legendary Porsche 935/78, the 935 is definitely a race car you would want to drive in the track. Nonetheless, it isn't car you can just drive on the road from your garage to the track. After all, the 935 is a track-only race car and can’t be driven legally on the road.

The problem of getting a track-only race car from a garage to the circuit without circumventing any laws or local ordinances has already been solved a long time ago. To solve such a logistic issue, teams or carmakers have been using transporters, which can be large enough to accommodate more than one race car.

Such a situation is the main theme of one of the latest creative visual projects of Igor Shikitov, an automotive designer from Moscow, Russia. Posted at the Behance social creative site on October 3, 2018, Shikitov’s work was aptly titled “Volkswagen Renntransporter.” After all Porsche is now part of the Volkswagen Group.
