Immediately after the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, automakers are now shifting their focus to the next major event, and that is the 2018 Geneva Motor Show that will be taking place in March. One of the first companies that have teased us with what’s soon to come would be Land Rover, with their fancy new Range Rover SV Coupe. Now, it is Kia’s turn as they are ready to reveal the sporty GT Line specification for its Rio supermini.
To give you a refresher, some models that are members of the GT Line family include the Picanto, Sportage, Optima and Sorento, and this new Rio GT Line is simply a visual pack that will give the B-segment hatchback a sportier exterior appearance. Up front, there will be a set of four-point “ice cube” LED fog lights, as it sits on a set of 17 inch alloy wheels that you can only get in this version. Kia has also added a few glossy black accents all over the model, contrasted with a chrome window trim and twin exhaust tips.
As for the interior, there aren’t a lot of things to discuss because the Rio GT will have the same interior as the standard Rio models. In fact, the only interior upgrade it gets is that it is now covered in a black synthetic leather and cloth upholstery with grey stitching, metallic accents, and carbon fiber look for the dashboard. It also gets a new flat bottomed steering wheel that gets a “GT Line” badge.Read the entire article 2018 Kia Rio GT Line shows up ahead of Geneva Motor Show

The rear end features a lacquered black diffuser, new twin exhaust pipes and the GT signature which is integrated into the tailgate. The GT signature is also found on the front grille and wheel arches. The 308 GT arrives with a new and exclusive ‘Magnetic Blue’ exterior colour, which is historically reserved for French competition vehicles.
The sporty theme is continued at the interior where the models feature roof lining and upper window finished in anthracite, aluminum pedals, stainless still finishers in the door sills and red stitching on the upholstery trim, dash, door panels, gear knob and floor mats. The steering wheel is also unique to these models and arrives with perforated leather trim and GT badge.Read the entire article 2015 Peugeot 308 GT Hatchback and SW unveiled ahead of Paris Motor Show
Lanzante Motosport is taking advantage of the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed to showcase its latest conversion project – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Allegedly commissioned by a rich client from the Middle East, the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante is essentially a McLaren P1 GTR converted into a Longtail, easily capturing the attention of visitors at Goodwood.
Doing a project based from a McLaren P1 GTR isn't something new to Lanzante. After all, the British racing had been converting the track-only P1 GTR for use on the road. Lanzante also had six P1 GTR units converted to become road-legal P1 LM versions. Five of these P1 LM units were sold while the sixth example was retained as the XP1 LM to be used for development and testing. Interestingly, the XP1 LM managed to set the fastest ever time for a road car on the Goodwood hillclimb of the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, completing the 1.86-km course at just 47.07 seconds.
Now, another P1 GTR is making waves at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed, but this time it has been converted into a longtail – the McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante. Prior to the event, Lanzante had been teasing us with the P1 GT conversion. The teases proved to be worth paying attention to, as the P1 GT revealed at Goodwood is spectacularly impressive.Read the entire article McLaren P1 GT By Lanzante Motorsport turns heads at 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed
A few days back, we discussed that Ford’s plan involves retiring most of its compact cars and sedans and replacing them with SUVs. However, there would be two small models that will remain in the lineup -- the Mustang and the Focus Active, at least for the United States. So what is the automaker’s reason for doing so? Well, the answer is as simple as this - money.
To support that statement, Jim Hackett, Ford’s CEO said in his interview with Automotive News that they have decided to just focus on the healthier part of the business, referring to trucks and crossovers. In the first quarter of 2018 alone, the company’s sales of $3 billion all came from this segment. Soon, 90 percent of all sales will come from this.
The CEO added that they will soon deal with the parts of the company that destroy value. He, of course, is speaking of sedans and hatchbacks. In fact, by 2022, they hope to uncover $25.5 billion in savings with the switch to SUVs and trucks. This is double the amount identified back in October ($14 million).Read the entire article Why is Ford getting rid of its sedans and hatchbacks?
The Toyota Corolla iM, once offered in the United States under the name Scion iM, is a compact five door model that the Japanese automaker decided to give a new name for the next generation - the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. This model essentially is a North American version of the Euro-spec Auris that made an appearance at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
When being compared to the model it replaces, the car has been elongated by 1.5 inches, now being 172 inches long. The wheelbase, on the other hand, measures 103.9 inches long and and is now 70.5 inches wider (1.2 inches wider), it has also been lowered by an inch, now being 56.6 inches from top to bottom.
Similar to the Auris, and most of Toyota’s new models, the Corolla Hatchback will soon be be based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, that comes along with a quieter cabin, thanks to the extra seals in the body panel gaps and the sound proof materials.Read the entire article 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback will make its debut with a new look
After Opel’s launch of the Insignia GSi last year in a liftback and a wagon body styles, Opel is ready to add the “GSi” badge on the Corsa. This will probably be the last variant for the current generation of the supermini, and the hot hatch version will have a three door body style to make it stand out from the lesser models of the range. Standard features that it will get include larger air vents, a honeycomb front grille, red brake calipers, a chrome exhaust tip, and a new set of 18 inch wheels.
The Opel Corsa GSi’s main highlight will be the Sport chassis that it borrowed from the hardcore OPC version that makes the hatchback feel more nimble around the corners. It had also been equipped with a beefier roof mounted spoiler that will boast the model’s visual appearance, while also generating extra downforce to keep the car close to the road when it is going fast.
At this moment, the automaker has not shared photos of the car’s interior cabin, but we do know that customers will be given the possibility to upgrade to Recaro seats if they are willing to spend a little more. There is also a leather wrapped sports steering wheel, as well as the leather wrapped sporty gearshift knob. An aluminum sport pedal set finishes off the upgrades in the Corsa OPC’s cabin.Read the entire article 2018 Opel Corsa GSi now has a sport chassis from OPC variant
The outgoing Kia Cee’d nameplate has had a pretty huge success since it was first revealed in 2012, with sales figures of around 640,000 units. However, the segment has become more challenging for the Korean automakers because of how its rivals have improved their offerings, including the Honda Civic, Volkswagen Golf, and the upcoming 2018 Ford Focus. And this is why Kia decided to raise the model’s game as it revealed their all new model ahead of its debut at Geneva next month.
Now, the automaker made a slight change to its name, now turning it into “Ceed”, by taking out the apostrophe. The reason for this is for it to appeal to the worldwide market. Ceed actually stands for “Community of Europe, with European Design”.
Similar to its predecessor, the 2018 Kia Ceed still has the automaker’s signature “Tiger Nose” grille tradition, flanked with ice cube daytime running lights that are pretty standard for them. This model gets more straight lines instead of creases and tapering lines like that of the previous model.Read the entire article More stylish and high-tech 2018 Kia Ceed is unveiled, notice the dropped apostrophe
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, aka the fourth generation A-Class, has arrived. And some of the few things it boasts would be the technology upgrade, three new engines, and a slight increase in size. Overall, the hatchback gets a handful of cool features that makes it stand out from other models, while receiving physical improvements that turn it into a more stylish hatchback.
Firstly, its wheelbase has grown by 1.2 inches (30 millimeters), while its track is half an inch (14mm) wider. Because size has been increased, there will be more space for passenger, and I mean more shoulder and head room. Plus an increase in cargo capacity where they can put larger suitcases in. Passengers will also benefit from a more comfortable ride, thanks to the revised suspension. There are also optional active dampers that can be adjusted depending on the driving mode you choose.
Its new exterior, especially up front, has been made to look more angular. It also looks more aggressive because of the new downward sloping nose and a pair of tilted headlights. Customers can then upgrade to a set of Multibeam LED headlights, with 18 individually actuated LEDs.Read the entire article 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class reveals its new design
Hyundai revealed to the press that it doesn’t plan on breaking any kind of top speed records with its newest N performance line. That is because the brand mainly focuses on the comfort and pleasure of driving its two new hatchbacks. When it comes to fun, the VW Golf GTI may be the first thing that comes to mind but the Korean automaker boldly claims that they might have beaten the said hatchback.
Albert Biermann, former head of BMW’s M division and the current head of Hyundai’s M division, shared to Australian publication Car Advice some details regarding the brand’s first high performance hatchback, the i30 N. He mentioned that the goal of this car is to make sure it is fun to drive daily, despite it being track-focused.
The automaker’s plan for the i30 N was to have it be a closer fit for the track than a Golf GTI could ever be. He also said that many GTIs can be taken to the track, but a standard GTI isn’t the same. Furthermore, regular GTIs are not as fun to drive, at the same time, they don’t have as strong a character.Read the entire article High-powered Hyundai i30N hatchback keeps the VW Golf GTI on its toes
Back in the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show, Volkswagen showcased a Passat GT Concept at their booth. Though it has been a little over a year since that happened, the automaker has finally come up with the production model of the 2018 VW Passat GT and will bring it at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. And all we can say is that it looks exactly like the 2016 concept. Just without the bold GT graphics on the sides.
So. What does the production model have to boast? Well, it definitely has a touch of sportiness. Both the exterior and interior also got over 20 visual enhancements. The front fascia comes with standard LED headlights as well as daytime running lamps, paired with the bumper from the R-Line. There is also a new black honeycomb grille that replaces the one on the stock unit, and is surrounded by red trim. After all, anything GT must have a hint of red.
There are also black accents all around the car, from the side mirrors, the door trim, to the subtle GT fender badges as well as the blacked out roof. In the rear, there is a new black spoiler with more black trim, paired with a set of LED headlights that had been darkened.Read the entire article Detroit Auto Show: 2018 VW Passat GT production model has arrived
It has been a while since Ford stared their campaign for the 2019 Focus, and this whole time, they have been sharing teasers of the car that will supposedly make its debut sometime next year. Apart from the teasers, we have actually already spotted two variants of the prototype on public roads - the hatchback and the sedan. Both prototypes were dressed in a unique livery with a hastag that says “TimeToFocus”. And just before the holidays, we got another teaser from the automaker, and that is a final look at the new hatchback.
To be frank, the new teaser is nothing new from what we have already seen so far. And as mentioned earlier, it is dressed in a colourful livery with the same hashtag. But this time, it is slightly more distinguishable. Ford’s campaign and tag line “time to focus” actually mean focusing on their new products in 2018. However, they automaker did not comment on the medium sized camouflaged car that has been tapped to be launched in Essex, Germany, and the United States.
If you have not heard, the Ford Focus will be manufactured at the company’s Changan facility in China. This decision they made will help the American company save as much as $1 billion in costs as opposed to manufacturing the cars in the United States. For American-spec models, the cars will be imported from China and will be assembled in Ford’s Wayne, Michigan plant. They did not mention anything about shipping costs though.Read the entire article Ford shares another teaser of the 2019 Focus
There may be several owners of the Ford Focus RS who have experienced seeing white smoke coming out from the exhaust of their performance-laden hatchback. Now, the American carmaker has admitted that a version of the engine powering the Focus RS for the 2016 and 2017 model years is causing this issue, Autocar has reported.
The issue became apparent after some Focus RS owners took their predicament to Focus RS forums and even posted videos about their concerns in social sharing site YouTube. Some owners even reported that the engine – an early version of the 2.3-liter EcoBoost mill – couldn’t be repaired by their dealers. Ford confirmed that the engine could develop an issue that causes it to consume coolant fluid. When the engine burns the coolant fluid, it would emit a white exhaust smoke as a result. So far, Ford hasn’t divulged the official cause of the issue, which reported affected cars with as little as 6,000 miles on their odometers.
A spokesman for the carmaker told Autocar that Ford is working on a repair for all customers, which may mean that even Focus RS models not exhibiting the issue would receive the fix. But before Ford rolls this out, it is saying that customers may bring their rides to their dealer – for an inspection and repair under warranty – if their Focus RS are showing the aforementioned symptom of white exhaust smoke. So far, Ford has only replaced affected engines with new mills built to the latest specs under warranty.Read the entire article Ford opens up about exhaust smoke problem of 2016-2017 Focus RS models
While car media outlets are busy keeping tabs on what’s happening at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, apparently, something hotter has been brewing in Crewe England after Bentley uncovered its new 2018 Continental GT First Special Edition. At a time when the first batch of the 3rd generation Continental GT has not yet reached the homes of their rightful owners, we have to say this is something we least expected.
Regardless, Bentley’s Continental GT has been customized by the British marque’s design team to create the ultimate grand tourer of all time — the First Edition. It features a rotating display that lets you switch between three various panels. Depending on what suits your mood, its built-in 12.3-inch touch screen can be swapped with another instrument display that offers three analog dials or if the engine is turned off, the next option showcases a panel display that offers unobstructed view of the dashboard.
Bentley’s First Edition is also offered with four distinctively premium dual tone veneers for its Grand Black dashboard that suits any of the four veneer colors available --- Dark Fiddleback Eucaplyptus, Dark Stained Madrona, Liquid Amber, and the Tamo Ash veneer finish.Read the entire article Bentley pays homage to British roots with 2018 Continental GT First Special Edition
While many believe electric mobility is the future, it is still uncertain how far or near we really are into making the transition --- but that may change real soon.
Insiders reveal in a recent report by Autocar that Volkswagen Group is taking the steps to make this happen at the earliest time possible. How? It seeks to become the leading promoter of e-mobility in the market. It is said that Volkswagen Group wishes to launch about 30 EVs by 2025, but prior to that, the German marque will be promoting a number of gasoline-electric hybrids under its sub-brands. It’s expected to comprise several SUVs and two electrified hatchbacks.
In a bid to win the hearts of car enthusiasts, Volkswagen AG’s marketing people thought the hybrid hatches hold the key to letting everyone come aboard the electrified future. This could be achieved by means of spreading the word about electric technologies among fellow customers. Well, hot hybrid hatchbacks can be a lot of fun you know.Read the entire article A hybrid Skoda Fabia RS may be part of VW’s upcoming lineup under e-mobility campaign
Just a month ago, Audi unveiled one of its latest studies -- the new Audi Aicon Concept car -- at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show to show how the carmaker visualizes the future of autonomous vehicles. That concept looked so promising, especially when we take into consideration that it was supposed to be a fully self-driving luxury vehicle in which a ferried passenger just has to sit back, relax and wait for his or her arrival at a preset destination.
Now, here comes the Audi Atom, a concept that also visualizes the future. It looks so promising that it appears like it was a preview for the Audi R8 of the future. There is one big exception, though. This Atom isn’t from Audi. In fact, Audi didn’t even design this Atom. Actually, this Audi Concept Atom is a rendering created by a Russian graphic artist named Konstantin Pankratov who shared this work on online professional sharing site Behance.
Sadly though, Pankratov didn’t provide any detail or description of the Audi Concept Atom. However, we could make assumptions just by looking at this rendered creation. The appearance of this Audi Atom is definitely assertive. However, it isn’t aggressive enough to be regarded as a supercar or a hypercar. Usually, design studies or concept are heavily aggressive and boasts of extra-dramatic designs. If this Audi Atom previews a future Audi hypercar, it should have very forceful appearance. But as we said, this Atom doesn’t have that particular look.Read the entire article Audi Atom Concept rendering seems to preview a future GT
Ford announced earlier this year that it will be giving its 2018 Mustang GT an optional upgrading kit consisting of a larger radiator, six piston brake calipers, high performance tires, and so on. Moving on to the present, Ford unveils the new Level 2 performance package that is billed to fill the huge gap between the Ford Mustang’s most potent GT350 and the initially released performance pack level 1 upgrade.
It seems as if Ford did notice that “gap” from the very start and has been developing the Performance Level 2 for some time already. According to them, it will also come with a new front splitter, a custom rear spoiler, a much lower ride height, an updated steering, a new suspension, and a set of 19-inch Chauncy Eggleston wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Of course, other features from the Level 1 are also present on the new package including the enhanced chassis, improved steering, Brembo brakes with huge rotors and stability control. The Performance pack level 2’s main highlight will be the new set of wheels that are 1.5-inch wider. It has also brought the car much closer to the ground by 0.5 inch compared to the previous upgrade. Having all of these in one package will mean that the Mustang GT will not only look more aggressive but will also look like a real performer.Read the entire article 2018 Ford Mustang GT offers more power and bolder looks with new Performance Pack Level 2
Not many may be familiar with the Dacia Duster, but for those who do, you probably know that it is insanely affordable. After being in the market for seven years, and after over a million units sold, it is finally going to get a second-generation model. To keep up with the current version, while keeping the costs minimal, Renault’s Romanian division will give the new generation the same underpinnings that will be housed in new exterior body as well as a more modern interior.
With this kind of reports circulating the net, it is unavoidable for artists with Photoshop skills to play with its current look and imagine the 2018 model year. For instance, we already found some photos from X-Tomi Design where artists are imagining all sorts of designs for the upcoming Duster. From these photos, we think that two of them may happen, while the other two are merely design experiments - the sporty GT and the three-door.
This basic version of the model with the unpainted bumpers could be an entry-level trim of the 2018 Dacia Duster. As you can see, it rides on a set of steel wheels, with unpainted side mirrors and door handles. We also heard that the company might lose the fog lights to really keep the starting price low. Some people may wonder why, but if the SUV’s unique selling point is its very affordable price, then you will probably agree.Read the entire article Check out these renderings of the 2018 Dacia Duster: Pickup truck, gt or coupe
McLaren had just confirmed that they are currently developing the newest member of the McLaren Ultimate Series and they are giving it the codename “BP23”. The British automaker provided photos of the 720S based test mule, or what might be the P1 hypercar’s successor.
The company’s goal for this model is to make it the fastest ever McLaren. Incidentally, it will have hybrid power. When referring to it as the fastest car, this does not necessarily mean that it will be based on lap times like Nurburgring records. There are different ways to measure performance and speed. McLaren says it will soon announce whether the parameters will be top speed, or the 0-200-0 mile per hour time.
Right now, McLaren is using this camouflaged 720S mule to develop the BP23. Though this one has a single-seater layout, the automaker confirmed that the final model will have a 1+2 seating arrangement that will be fitted into the original McLaren F1.Read the entire article This BP23 hypercar prototype will be the 'Fastest Ever McLaren'
Does the RS Edition and its LSD feature deserve all the media attention? The short answer to that is yes. Let us explain why. Ford today has revealed its new Focus RS Edition together with the complete details about its latest features, price and specifications. While on stage at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the new hatchback is seen to be wearing a stunning new look while dressed in Nitrous Blue body paint and fitted with blackened front splitter, spoiler, roof, and black 19-inch wheels.
The hatchback’s stunning new features are also seen along the RS Edition’s more angular and more aggressive front grille and bumpers which are even more enhanced with its massive spoiler and large exhausts down the vehicle's rear section. Beyond the menacing appearance, you will also find Recaro carbon fibre sports seats inside plus a pair of folding side mirrors on both sides of the exterior.
What’s more interesting however is that the new model receives Ford’s 2.3 liter EcoBoost engine, which is capable of up to 350PS that would allow the hatchback to run from a zero to 60mph in as quickly as 4.7 seconds. Needless to say, Ford has added the latest mechanical Quaife limited slip differential (or LSD) that should significantly improve the RS Edition’s handling and traction more than ever.Read the entire article Ford Focus RS Edition rises a notch higher with new Quaife limited-slip differential
The long-awaited 2018 Renault Megane RS has finally made its way to the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, after having been the subject of several spy photos and leaks. The Megane RS is definitely among the most-liked C-segment hot hatches as it comes with a number of technologies – including a turbo gasoline engine with two new transmission options.
It comes equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged gas motor with direct injection, like the one in the Alpine A110 sports car, instead of the older 2.0-liter turbo. This engine works with either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission that includes paddle shifter and launch control, giving power to the front wheels. All this enables the Megane RS to carry out as much as 280 horsepower (205 kilowatts). It will also come with standard 355mm front discs with Brembo calipers that customers can swap for optional bi-material cast iron and aluminum discs.
But that’s not all that it can do, as customers can opt for the Megane RS Trophy version that should be out before 2019. This variant will have a little more power, giving out 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). It is too early to provide numbers for the acceleration and top speed of both the regular and the Trophy variant, but stay tuned as we will probably find out by December this year.Read the entire article 2018 Renault Megane RS now has more power and tech
