A new product line for retrofitting motorsport accessories on all Type 997 models of the GT3 and GT3 RS has been made available beginning this month. With these special components being offered by Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, you can now accessorize any of the Type 997 models of the GT3 and GT3 RS.

After a number of spy photos, as well as some leaked ones, we can finally say that 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is going to arrive soon, with the latest, high resolution photos that had been published. Porsche recently decided that they will stick to their roots as long as they possibly could, and I mean as long as the market allows it. The automaker is assuring its buyers that it is still committed to rear-mounted, naturally aspirated engines as well as manual gearboxes despite the news circulating that the new 911 GT3 is allegedly gaining a turbocharged engine, while losing the manual gearbox.
Dr. Frank Steffen Walliser, Porsche’s head of GT motorsport and GT road cars, in his interview with Australian publication Drive during the Bathurst 12 Hour, denied reports of a fully turbocharged engine lineup.
The said engine lineup will likely be paired with an aluminum architecture shared with other cars like the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Huracan. He added that a sports car will fit a normally aspirated engine, and that with a turbocharged engine, performance will be different. For those Porsche enthusiasts out there, you must know that the Porsche 911 lineup is wide enough that you can get a model or trim that fits your style and personality - these range from models like the basic 911 Carrera all the way to the high performance, all wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet. But here’s one more.
German tuner McChip-dkr has built a powered-up Targa version of the 911. Just check out this example they modified. They were able to tweak the Targa body and gave it GT3 levels of power, which have previously been available only in a coupe.

McLaren revealed that a 720S GT3 is already underway and will in fact keep their hands very busy for the most of 2018, considering that most of the development will be taking place at the company’s new facility in Woking, England. Despite not disclosing any technical details, McLaren at least shared a couple of renderings of the 720S GTS to give everyone a glimpse of its future racecar.
We’ve noticed on the rendering that it turns out to appear more aggressive than its road going version mainly for its race-spec features. For one, the 720S GT3 now has a new pair of dive planes-- one on the left and one on the right. It also has a new vented hood at the middle plus huge new air intakes at the front end. Even the pair of side mirrors seems to have an air of aerodynamic quality into them as well.
There are several other racing characteristics which will surely not go unnoticed even if you don’t have a keen eye for detail. Have you heard of the hottest car from Bentley? Bentley’s third generation Continental GT has gotten more athletic after receiving the latest GT3 upgrade under its new platform. So what makes the GT3-spec extra special? While the Continental GT packs a 626hp 6.0-liter biturbo W12 engine, the GT3’s 4.0-liter 550hp biturbo V8 is a race-specified engine integrated with the Cosworth management system.
In addition to the upgraded dry sump, intake and exhaust, majority of the Continental GT’s standard markings were stripped off to achieve the GT3’s ideal weight. That means, Bentley Motorsport did whatever is necessary to transform the GT into a pure race car--- including stripping out the interior and installing a number of carbon fiber body panels.
The carbon fiber diet was a huge success as the GT3 race car only weighs about 2,866lbs (1300kg) which is significantly lighter than the regular GT. Porsche is boosting the appeal of its new Porsche 911 GT3 sports car by unveiling a Touring Package at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA). The new 911 GT3 with Touring Package is simply the adoption and modernization of a concept that dates back to the touring variant 1973 911 Carrera RS. Now, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package is targeted towards the customer who places a great value on classic driving enjoyment with understated looks.
Compared to the standard 911 GT3, the version with the Touring Package features a body that is basically the same, saved for the rear end where the fixed rear wing has been replaced by a variable rear spoiler like on the 911 Carrera. This variable rear spoiler features an additional aerodynamic tear-off edge – also known as Gurney flap – in body color. The “GT3 touring” logo could be found on the rear lid grille. The rear end of the new 911 GT3 with Touring Package also reveals sports exhaust system tailpipes, silver-colored side window strips, headlight washer system covers and the Porsche logo.
Nevertheless, the 911 GT3 with Touring Package remains a high-performance sports car. The front end still features the large air intakes while luggage compartment lid is marked by an air outlet in front. In addition, both the front and rear lights of the 911 GT3 with Touring Package are the same as those on its standard sibling, although the ones on the new variant don’t feature dark tints. In 2014, Porsche stopped the sale and recalled the first 785 units of the 991.1 GT3 after determining that its engine could fail and result in a fire. Following probes, Porsche determined that there was a defect (inclusion) close to the surface of the finger follower -- an inclusion to the material suspected to be the cause of the increased wear of this engine part.

Right after holding the premiere of the new 911 GT3 in Geneva, Porsche introduced an updated online configurator for the vehicle.
The Porsche exclusive configurator provides a Paint to Sample scheme with 15 various shades to choose from. This includes the very stunning Miami Blue that costs 4,220 USD. In the US, the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 has a starting price of 143,600 USD. The price will go up once the special paint is selected by the client.
Porsche’s official configurator also gives its customers a choice between four different wheel finishes for the new 911 GT3. For its cabin, the configurator lets the owner opt for a new set of bucket seats for the price of 5,200 USD aside from the available standard Sports Seats. Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei made a one of a kind design for the BMW Art Car #18 that requires you to download a specific app to be able to immerse in the beauty and uniqueness of her modern creation.
BMW unveiled an Art Car that is unlike the previous ones, and it recently debuted at the Minsheng Art Museum. Cao Fei, the youngest ever to be commissioned for a BMW Art Car, utilized the M6 GT3 as its base. Fifty years ago, engineers Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher left Mercedes-Benz and decided to rent a barn in Burgstall an der Murr just by Stuttgart where they created the “AMG Motorenbau und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH”. In 1993, AMG became popular when people knew that they were the ones upgrading Mercedes models. This was the beginning of a new collaboration between both companies, and the C36 was the first mass-market car launched to compete against the BMW M3 (E36).

Many automotive companies bring their cars to the Nurburgring with hopes that their cars would achieve records and beat out their rivals or even their predecessors themselves. Doing laps at Nurburging is a terrific way of gauging how far they’ve gone when it comes to performance.
Recently, Porsche took out its brand new 2018 911 GT3 for a test ride at the Nurburgring. The 2018 model certainly is more powerful than its predecessor knowing that it comes with an upgraded engine. So how much more powerful is it compared to the older model? Well, in just one day, it was able to beat the outgoing model by over 12 seconds around the Nurburgring, now making it one of the fastest cars to ever lap the ‘Ring. That is all thanks to the additional 25 horsepower (18 kilowatts) it is packed with.
The 2018 911 GT3 finished with a lap time of 7:12.7, exactly 12.3 seconds faster than its predecessor. It is now also considered the second fastest Porsche in the Nurburgring, following the 918 Spyder with a 6:57 lap time, which packs a whopping 887 horsepower (661 kilowatt) engine. It is interesting to recall how it was at the same event that took place in Geneva three years ago when Lexus first unwrapped the RC F GT3 Concept. Before it hits the motorsport arena in US, Japan and Europe, Lexus is going back once again to Switzerland for the premiere of the RC F GT3 racer.

Porsche revealed that starting 2017, it will offer the 911 (991) GT3 Cup with an improved drive. Already considered as the most produced GT racing vehicle in the world, this model made use of a purebred motorsport technology that allowed it to be fitted with a compact engine that comes with direct fuel injection allowing for an output of 485 hp (357 kW). In addition, this 6-cylinder 4-liter flat engine has been placed on the rear.
In terms of design, both the apron in the front and the rear section have been redesigned in order to enhance downforce. As a result, this allowed the 911 GT3 Cup to offer better performance and traction. Some features seen in the previous model however have been retained in this version like the wide wing in the rear that measures 184 centimeters. It has the same wheels in terms of dimensions. Carbon fiber has become a trend for cars nowadays. It is like the “diet pill” for cars. The car’s weight can be reduced greatly when certain parts or even entire bodies are made of carbon fiber. Other than that, it just simply makes cars look stunning and enhances those that already boast a stunning physique. Sprinkling a little bit of raw carbon on road cars adds an extra bit of kick. This dash of magic has been seen on the door sills of the BMW i3 as well as the entirety of a Ferrari Enzo. Even Honda’s luxury line Acura is following this trend on their all new Acura NSX GT3.
Earlier this year, the most awaited Acura NSX went on sale and we thought it couldn’t get any better than that. But Acura still had a powerful card up its sleeve that even when the NSX was still good as new they just had to release an even better and faster version. Lo and behold, the Acura NSX GT3 made its first appearance at the 2016 New York Auto Show.
The NSX GT3 will be Acura’s entry to the FIA GT3 class this year. It was tested in several race circuits in Europe as well as Japan and was recently tested in California under the supervision of Honda Performance Development race engineering group. The NSX GT3 has a lot in common with the road-legal NSX in terms of overall design, the fascia and headlights as well as its “ultra rigid” and lightweight body. It is slightly different from the standard NSX in terms of features, i.e. new hood with larger vent and taller air dam to assist engine cooling, and larger spoilers are a few of those, while sporting an extensive roll cage and a carbon fiber racing seat. It uses the same engine design as the standard NSX and is powered by the same twin-turbo 3.5-liter DOHC V6. Unlike the standard NSX, power will be sent on the rear wheels of the NSX GT3 using a six-speed, sequential-shift racing transmission.
