It was only a few days ago that we saw photos of the all new 2018 Bentley Continental GT, and now, someone has already tweaked it, turning it into a GTC. This is an unofficial release of the droptop as it was a rendering made by an artist and was published in X-Tomi Design, but we feel like a variant like this will soon come out in the Continental's lifecycle.
Though the design may look familiar to you, the updates are actually found in the heart of the car instead, with the new MSB underpinnings just like the Porsche Panamera, giving it an overall improvement. Bentley gave the Continental GT its much-needed diet, making it lose a total of 80 kilograms (176 pounds), as its predecessor was extra heavy. After the huge weight loss, we still can't say that it is lightweight, but at least the driving experience will be a little easier.
To lower the nose, the front axle of Crewe's latest GT had been pushed forward a bit, by around 135 millimeters (5.3 inches), giving way to the nose. Under the elongated hood is a powerful biturbo 6.0 liter W12 TSI that carries out as much as 626 horsepower (466 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton metres) or torque. This engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission that helps channel power to the wheels. The GT now has an active four-wheel drive system instead of the 60/40 rear-to-front split. Dodge will be offering “one-of-one” customized Vipers to customers starting February 2015. Customers could order these custom Vipers through dealers using a special concierge service that allows them to directly track their car while it is being ordered, built and shipped.
The custom Viper comes with personalized name tag embossed into the instrument panel and could be availed in a new GTC trim level in over 25 million distinct build combinations.
The free custom service prevents customers from ordering a GTC car with the same features and specs, according to Dodge brand chief Tim Kuniskis. The Vauxhall Astra GTC could now be availed with the 1.6 CDTi ‘Whisper Diesel’ engine, which replaces the 1.7 CDTi. The Astra GTC is the latest Vauxhall model to receive the new engine, which is already available in the Astra, Meriva and Zafira Tourer. The new engine provides up to 136 PS in output and 320 Nm in torque, while still delivering excellent fuel economy.
It is paired with an improved six-speed manual transmission in the Astra GTC. The GTC 1.6 CDTi comes with Start/Stop plus a braking energy recuperation system as standard, allowing it to deliver fuel economy of up to 72.4mpg on the combined cycle and emit 104 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer.
It is also Euro 6-compliant. The 2014 Opel Astra OPC Extreme became official today ahead of its world debut that will take place in March, at the Geneva Motor Show. According to the German carmaker, the new Astra OPC Extreme was developed on the Nurburgring Nordschleife race track and it is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers over 300 hp.
What’s more interesting is that the new hot hatch is equipped with all the key high-tech components from its racing peer, the Opel Astra OPC Cup. In fact, the Astra OPC Extreme was developed directly from the Cup version of and promises to bring pure racing technology to the road. Opel says that the engine found under the Extreme’s carbon fiber hood is the most powerful four-cylinder unit the company has ever produced.
The engine is bolted to a six-speed manual gearbox that sends the power through a limited-slip differential. Thanks to the carbon fiber components, the Astra OPC Extreme is 100 kilograms lighter than the standard Astra OPC. Following the Porsche Cayenne 902 Coupe launched back in 2010, the new Range Rover Highland GTC features new larger doors, a complete overhaul of the interior and an aerodynamic kit. The wheel arches are similarly styled to Merdad’s Cayenne Coupe and they have been extended by 92 mm.

Bentley will use the eight-speed automatic gearbox on its GT and GTC models. This type of gearbox was recently seen on the GT Speed. The current six-speed ’box is replaced by the close-ratio unit from ZF. The updated cars will start delivery this October. This has the same time-scale as the GT Speed. With this new gearbox, the 567bhp W12-equipped GT is able to accelerate from zero to 60mph by 0.1sec faster to 4.3sec.
It also drives the Continental GTC to make the 0-60mph sprint faster by 0.3sec to 4.4sec. The Continental GT can move from zero to 100mph in under 10.0sec at 9.8sec while the GTC can achieve this in 10.3sec. Both cars’ fuel economy ratings were also given a boost by the gearbox.
The GT has improved its fuel economy rating from 17.1mpg to 19.5mpg, and its CO2 emissions have been reduced from 384g/km to 338g/km. Previously, the GTC shared its economy and CO2 figures with the GT. Opel is the first ever automaker to use an iPhone to display preselected data from the CAN bus (Controller Area Network) for further analysis. All the electronic control units in the vehicle are connected via the CAN bus, or its central system. To get access to CAN bus data, all that Apple smartphone users have to do is to download the OPC PowerApp an application or App from the AppStore for only 0.79 euro.
The application will make its global debut in the Astra OPC with its 206 kW/280 hp output, the sporty leader of Opel’s compact car lineup. The CAN-bus gathers the signals from the various vehicle areas. To date, just highly specialized workshops could access these data by using specialist software. But now, Opel is giving the OPC PowerApp to owners so that they get the chance to get selected, performance-related data.
But even after the car is turned off, the OPC PowerApp can still offer up to 60 different data, such as engine boost pressure, throttle position, lateral acceleration or engine torque. Opel/Vauxhall’s 155mph Astra VXR/OPC hot hatch excellent handling is attributed mostly to the German-built Drexler limited-slip differential that’s the first of its kind to be used in a production front-wheel-drive road car. The differential uses circular plates that lock to prevent the 276bhp VXR from spinning away power in corners and over cambers when the car is being driven hard.
Since the 1960s, the plate-type diffs have been used in motorsport in front-drive cars. But typically, they work with an aggressive action and are challenging to drive. But then, Vauxhall said that the Drexler Motorsport unit is incredibly easy to drive.
VXR boss Volker Strycek, a former touring car racer, said that there’s “very little snatching of the wheel” and that it has been tuned so that the operation wouldn’t be felt. In addition, Strycek has driven front-drive cars that utilize torque-sensing front diffs like the Ford Focus RS. He also said that the VXR has much better steering. When Vauxhall’s most powerful Astra VXR ever is displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, it will have noticeably lighter front seats with the use of the latest in technology. It also now has a lower seating position and improved side support to manage the increased cornering loads. The new front seats of the Astra VXR are formed using an injection moulded sheet in the seat shells.
This decreases the weight by 45% compared to a conventional shell. The sheet uses a composite material built from polyamide and fiberglass. Because it is strong and agile, it only has to be 2-3 mm deep. This makes it considerably lighter.

Bentley Motors has launched its new Continental GTC Convertible at the Qatar International Motor Show. The all new convertible, which takes cues from its GT coupe sibling launched in 2011, boasts of an even more luxurious and spacious hand-crafted cabin.
It also has soft-touch leather hides, cool-touch metals, deep-pile carpets and an extensive range of wood veneers. It enables faster gear changes more than ever, thanks to a more powerful 575PS 6.0 liter, twin-turbocharged W12 engine and the new QuickShift transmission.
Bentley Motors' member of the board for sales and marketing, Alasdair Stewart, commented that the new GTC has always been the "most emotional model" in the Continental lineup and "a showcase" for Bentley design. After we saw the 2013 Bentley Continental GT V8 it’s time to take a look at the convertible version: folks, this is the 2013 Bentley Continental GTC V8. Just like the coupe version, the new GTC V8 will ditch the W16 in favor of a more fuel-efficient 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering a maximum output of 500 bhp (507 PS / 373 Kw) at 6000 rev/min and an extraordinary peak torque of 660 Nm (487 lb ft) which is available across virtually the entire rev range from 1700 to 5000 rev/min.
The engine is mated to a new close-ratio 8-speed automatic transmission and it can push the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in of 4.8 seconds (0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds) and a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).

There’s no way that a $140,000 Bentley would sell for just $14,000 but Andre Souang won this vehicle on eBay last month for this amount. Unfortunately, he received the disappointment of his life when the managers at Bentley Scottsdale told him that the auction listing was a mistake and that the car isn’t for sale. eBay later sent a form message to say that the auction was canceled for unspecified reasons.
Any hint of an auction was removed from Souang's account and from the Website. After just a few hours of the auction on Oct. 25, it seemed like the car was never on sale.
Typically, Bentleys sell for six figures. This 2008 convertible that Souang made for a bid for was in pristine condition and had very low mileage. It also had just one prior owner. Souang said that he had a suspicion that there was something awry when the "Buy It Now" offer was accepted. Bentley Motors’ new Continental GTC makes its debut in North America at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Mulsanne Executive Interior Concept, the next generation of mobile connectivity, could be seen at the Bentley stand.
Targeted at executives, this concept offers a new multimedia experience inside the luxurious, hand-crafted cabin of Mulsanne, Bentley’s flagship model. Alasdair Stewart, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Sales and Marketing, said that the automaker considers Los Angeles to be the “ideal location” for the launching of the GTC convertible. Steward added that Southern California is still the “most successful market” for Bentley in the US. He also said that the U.S. is still the biggest market in the world for Bentley.
In 2011, Bentley’s worldwide sales have increased by a third. This is due largely to the new model introductions like the GTC convertible (which arrives in the U.S. market in the later part of the year) and the new GT coupe (which has already started selling in the spring. It’s expected that many will be on the lookout for the new Continental GTC. Opel/Vauxhall unveiled today the all-new 2012 Astra GTC OPC, the most powerful Astra ever. Set to go on sale in summer 2012, the new OPC variant of the Astra GTC will be powered by a 2.0-liter direct injection turbo gasoline engine delivering 206 kW/280 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. This engine will make the vehicle the fastest Astra, with a top speed of 155 mph or 250 km/h.
We do admit that the power delivered by the engine is too much for the front wheels as the current version of the Astra GTC OPC is not very stable.
But, according to Opel, it seems that the whole chassis of the sports car is designed to deliver power, without comprise and it was tested and polished on the Northern Loop (“Nordschleife”) of the Nürburgring race track in Germany under the supervision of the Opel brand ambassador Joachim (“Jockel”) Winkelhock. Opel has released more details about its new GTC range a month after it announced its pricing. The car is expected to undercut rivals such as the Scirocco by a fair margin. Opel has started to take orders for this vehicle, which offers a more advanced front suspension setup so that the chassis is better at sticking to the road.
Several features were borrowed from the 325 hp Insignia OPC, including the HiPerStruts used on the front axle. There isn’t anything remarkable on its back but there were upgrades done on the GTC’s distinctive Watt’s link/compound crank rear end. They are expected to stick better to the road than the regular 3-door. Opel/Vauxhall is preparing to launch the Astra GTC later this year – a car that it claims will be the most dynamic car in its class. Developed in the UK, the Astra GTC is meant to go up against the Renault Mégane coupé and Volkswagen Scirocco.
