Here’s the fastest VW GTI Golf ever – the 286hp TCR road version

Have you been thinking of getting yourself a hardcore Volkswagen Golf GTI? Well, if you have, you might want to hear this first - the track-only TCR version is going to receive a road-legal equivalent in the near future. Watch out for the Golf GTI TCR as it makes its debut on May 9 during the annual GTI meeting, which will be held at Worthersee. Without a surprise, this will be billed as a special edition model. Therefore, there is a good chance it will end up being a limited run hot hatch.

VW teases the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo ahead of 2014 Worthersee Festival

For the 2014 Worthersee Festival in Austria that begins on May 28th, Volkswagen prepared the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo, a supercar developed for the well-known Gran Turismo videogame on PlayStation. The new GTI Roadster Vision follows the same path as the Design Vision GTI, that was introduced back in 2013, which means it uses the Golf GTI Design DNA in order to create a strong sporting statement.

The concept car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo VR6 TSI engine that generates 503 hp and 665 Nm (491 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is bolted to a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers the power through the permanent 4Motion all-wheel drive system and offers incredibly fast shifts on the racetrack.

New concept car features an impressive design and the first look shows us a front end dominated by the big air intake, vertical LED daytime running lights and stylish headlights. The well-known red stripe that is featured on all Golf GTI models is also present.

Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR comes to life as orders now being accepted

German carmaker Volkswagen is now making the latest evolution of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI -- the new Golf GTI TCR. First unveiled as a concept at the annual GTI meeting in Worthersee, Austria, the new Golf GTI TCR is touted to be the most hardcore, most powerful and the fastest Golf GTI ever. Interested customers in Germany can now order the new Golf GTI TCR at a starting price of EUR38,950 (around $44,356) including VAT.

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is basically the street going version of the same-named racing car that won the international TCR racing series two times. It is powered by a version of the carmaker’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is tuned to deliver up to 286 hp (213 kW) of max output. Power is sent to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission – the only option -- with a limited-slip front differential.

With this amount of power, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is capable of sprinting from nil to 62 miles per hour (100 km/h) in just 5.6 seconds, on its way to a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). However, when a customer avails of a certain option (Vmax), the Golf GTI TCR can go as fast as 162 mph (260 km/h).

2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI Rabbit Edition is a hotter hatch with black elements

Volkswagen’s hot hatch just got hotter for the 2019 model year with the introduction of a Rabbit Edition. The new 2019 VW Golf GTI Rabbit Edition is a special model that pays homage to the heritage of the GTI. It will be available along with three usual trims offered for the 2019 Golf GTI: S, SE, and Autobahn.

Slotted between the S and SE trims, the limited-edition VW Golf GTI Rabbit Edition is distinguished from the standard models through its looks and features. Available only in four colors -- Cornflower Blue, Deep Black Pearl, Pure White and Urano Grey – the GTI Rabbit Edition boasts of an exterior with a black rear spoiler, 18-inch gloss black aluminum-alloy wheels as well as LED headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) and black mirror caps. Inside, the limited edition features Rabbit-badged seat tags as well as red-stitched floor mats.

To make the annual Worthersee Meet more interesting, Audi decided that that they should electrify the event. And that’s why they brought in a prototype Audi E-tron Quattro towing the E-Tron Vision Gran Turismo Concept. It’s interesting to see two models that represent the company’s future at an event that largely celebrates an iconic model from VW Group’s history.

Firstly, the E-Tron Quattro will be Audi’s first dedicated electric vehicle, which is scheduled to be sold in Europe by the end of the year. In fact, the automaker has already been testing the 250-member fleet of the said model around the world as a means to build buzz and to work out the final details.

Right now, the electric crossover is equipped with a 95 kilowatt hour battery pack that enables the car to drive as far as 248.5 miles (400 kilometers) in the new WLTP driving cycle. As for the powertrain, specs aren’t as clear but the electric motors allegedly produce a total of 435 horsepower (320 kilowatts) or 503 horsepower (379 kilowatts) when there is a temporary power boost.

Volkswagen recently just announced their first compact crossover for Europe, that is the stylish T-Roc. However, they also made it clear that only the Polo and Golf hatchbacks will be getting the GTI treatment. This means that we should not expect the Passat or Touareg in a Grand Touring Injection variant. With that being said, you cannot stop artists from rendering what they’ve imagined, and this time, it is a T-Roc GTI. That was quick considering that the CUV only made its world premiere a few days ago.

Without a doubt, the sporty version of the T-Roc will get the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine from the Golf GTI that can produce as much as 245 horsepower. The GTI Performance upgrade is currently available in Europe. But just because VW is not planning a GTI treatment for the T-Roc doesn’t mean it will not have any other variants. And sources say that there may be a chance for a T-Roc R that is a little more powerful with 310 horsepower engine just like the Golf R.

This was because Herbert Diess, VW chairman, said a few months ago that he would like to consider a more powerful all-wheel-drive T-Roc R. To further support this statement, sources that are close to Wolfsburg have told Autocar that the company’s head asked his engineers to build a development car. If Diess sends the go signal, then expect the T-Roc R to go on production, and it should be ready after the Tiguan R’s release. The Tiguan R is another hot AWD that a lot of us are expecting to see, with a five-cylinder 2.5 liter engine just like the Audi RS3 supposedly.

The largest gathering of Volkswagen and Audi cars in Europe is underway, and the German premium carmaker is displaying the third model of its G-Tron range at the 2017 Worthersee Meeting wrapped in special finish and with apparent aesthetic tweaks.

Audi unveiled the production version of the new Audi A5 Sportback G-Tron at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March. Before the model’s eventual introduction to the market in early summer, Audi is making sure that the new G-Tron car gains more attention from the public by showcasing a one-off variant at the Worthersee Meeting.

The A5 Sportback G-Tron at Worthersee sports a customized two-tone exterior to make it more appealing. However, it isn’t a fully modified unit, unlike the VW GTI First Decade concept that is also being displayed at the event. Around two-thirds – starting from the front end -- of the exterior of this one-off A5 Sportback G-Tron is wrapped in dark grey finish. It then blends with a honeycomb blue finish on the rear side doors. This finish completely dominates the rear end of the one-off A5 Sportback G-Tron.

At this year’s Worthersee gathering, Volkswagen will be revealing a total of four vehicles: two of which are apprentice-designed GTI and GTE concepts, while the other two are unique VW cars of the company itself. These are the sweet Golf GTI and the hot Golf R.

Oettinger, a German based tuning company,sharpens the Golf MKVII GTI’s current look with a unique aerodynamic body kit. The kit comes with a new front spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, a quad tailpipe just by the diffuser, and a roof-mounted spoiler with open racing flaps.

Under the hood is a standard 2.0 liter engine, or the 2.0 liter diesel engine for the GTD, that works with the added quad exhaust system. For an engine upgrade, Oettinger can do the work for you and maximize the engine power to 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) for an extra cost. This is a huge jump from the standard which only produces 210 horsepower (156 kilowatts).

Volkswagen intends to leave the crowd in awe at the Worthersee Meeting (Wortherseetreffen) – the largest VW and Audi car show in Europe – with its new GTI Worthersee concept.

It has been 10 years since VW started its famed show car projects at Worthersee. To celebrate those 10 years, the 10th and latest GTI Worthersee concept was promptly named VW Golf GTI First Decade. This is the first GTI to feature a hybrid drive system – a combination of a conventional engine and an electric motor.

A petrol mill delivers 410 PS (300 kW) of power output to the front wheels while a 48-volt electric motor provides 12 kW of propulsive power to the rear wheels. Interestingly, these two drive systems could operate separately, which means the new VW Golf GTI First Decade could be driven conventionally, or in pure electric mode. Of course, the engine and electric could operate together for an all-wheel drive experience.

Ever since Volkswagen revealed its first ID Concept, rumors about the hatchback and the next pure electric GTI have grown more intense. It’s probably because the German automaker neither confirmed nor denied the speculations. As a matter of fact, VW head for sales and marketing Jurgen Stackman has also hinted at an all-electric hatch and other possibilities under such a concept.

In a recent interview with Auto Express, Stackman shared his thoughts regarding the GTI formula and how it will change the way people perceive their upcoming compact EVs. Surprisingly, Stackman is quite optimistic about the idea and thinks that with electric vehicles, Volkswagen could deliver a car that is “fun to drive” and “fun to own” at the same time.

The first ID Concept as we know is equipped with a 168 hp electric motor that can go from 0-100 kilometers per hour under 8 seconds and up to 159 kilometers per hour at top speed. Add to that the concept EV’s flat lithium ion battery (tucked underneath the floor) that pushes it to go as far as 600 kilometers based on the NEDC standards.

Living up to the quality that the GTI has always been about since 1976, the new Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR is no extraordinary. It has been prominent on the racetrack since its launch in July 2015. All production models for the 2016 season had already been snapped up as early as January.

Teams can field the 20 cars in up to 16 national and international TCR touring car championship events. For the international TCR events, the cars will be handed over to sports teams starting March 11 in Abera/Barcelona (E). For the national TCR championship, the cars will undergo test drives at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia (E) starting March 14.

The production-based concept car has already demonstrated great potential at TCR outings. Volkswagen's partner, Liqui Moly Team Engstler, fielded two cars in the 2015 TCR International Series. At the vehicle's first race weekend, it promptly won the second race at Austria's Red Bull Ring.

Available in two versions with 250 hp and 270 hp, the new hot hatch was developed by Peugeot Sport engineers and features several visual enhancements such as exclusive front and rear ends, full LED headlamps, a black radiator grille with horizontal chequered pattern and gloss black finishing.

In addition, the same motif is found on the air intake, surrounded by sequential LED indicators, red detail strip or chrome on Ultimated Red cars, as well as two front spoilers. Seen from the side, the Peugeot 308 GTi sits 11 millimetres closer to the ground, features 18-inch Diamant alloy wheels on GTi 250 version and 19-inch Carbone alloy wheels for the GTi 270 hp.

Interested customers for the latest generation Volkswagen Polo GTI can now order their own units from retailers across the United Kingdom at just £18,850 RRP OTR for the three-door manual version. To avail of the five-door version, a customer just needs to add £630 premium and another £1,245 to avail of the DSG gearbox.

It is powered by a 1.8-liter (1,798 cc) turbocharged petrol engine that provides up to 192 PS between 4,200 and 6,200 rpm (5,400-6,200 DSG). The engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. When fitted with the manual gearbox, the Polo provides torque of up to 320 Nm (236 lbs ft) available between 1,450 and 4,200 rpm.

When equipped with the DSG, the Polo provides torque of up to 250 Nm (184 lbs ft) between 1,250 and 5,300 rpm. The Polo GTI could accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 146 mph. Despite this performance, it still ekes a combined fuel consumption figure of 50.4 mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of 129 g/km for the DSG (47.1 mpg and 139 g/km for the manual).

Many of you folks were expecting the 308 GTI at the 2014 Paris Motor Show but instead that hot hatch, Peugeot brought the 308 GT. Still, the French manufacturer is working on the 308 GTI and this new model will arrive with 250 or 270 hp. Plans for the new vehicle were revealed during a presentation of the company’s Peugeot Sport arm.

We expect the new 308 GTI to get the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder THP engine used by the RCZ R but also found on the 308 R Concept, developing up to 270 hp (199 kW) and 330 Nm (243 lb-ft) of torque.

The engine is capable to push the RCZ R from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, while offering a top speed of 155 mph or 250 km/h.

At the 2014 Paris Motor Show, Peugeot will unveil its new 308 GTI, a high-performance version of the well-known 308 a.k.a. the 2014 Car of the Year. The latest reports indicate that Peugeot 308 GTI will use a 1.6-liter THP engine that will deliver around 250 hp (186 kW).

In addition, the vehicle will feature a stiffer suspension, bigger wheels, larger brakes but also a new design in order to highlight its capabilities. After one teaser, Peugeot officially unveiled the 208 GTi 30th anniversary edition with the occasion of the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. As expected, this new anniversary edition looks much better than the standard version. First of all the vehicle was lowered by 10 mm, while the track was widened by 22 mm at the front and 16 mm at the rear.

In addition, the lower stance is accentuated by matt black side skirts, wheel arches and by the 18-inch matt black rims. Behind the wheels we find 232 mm brake discs at the front and Brembo fixed four-piston calipers.
