There are so many stories circulating about whether Ferrari will be building an SUV or a fully electric model that people seem to be forgetting about Ferrari’s soon to be rockstar - the hardcore 488 GTB that will bring back the “GTO” moniker, which will also likely be the most desirable car to carry the prancing horse logo. In a leaked document by California Air Resources Board, there was a “488 Special Series Coupe” that was listed, so we definitely know that it is on its way.
We are expecting the 488 Special Series Coupe to make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show in March. In a recent closed door dealer meeting where the 488 was the main topic, someone seemed to have sneakily took photos of the slideshow that contained juicy information about the said model, which he then shares with a website with content that is mostly focused on Ferrari.

When Ford unveiled its new Ford GT nearly four years ago at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the supercar was received very well even through the US carmaker only disclosed a few details. When the company started to produce the Ford GT, one thing was very apparent – the demand for the supercar greatly outstrips the supply. Two years into the supercar’s production, Ford is building more units than previously earmarked.
Even before it started production of the Ford GT, the US carmaker had said only 1,000 units of the supercar will be built. Ford had set the annual production pace for the Ford GT at 250 units every year. This means that supercar would have a production run that would last for around four years.
But when the US carmaker started accepting orders for the Ford GT, the total number of applicants quickly grew to more than 6,500. This number was just for the 2016 iteration of the supercar. The Porsche 918 Spyder is a very unique sports car, being a plug-in hybrid with a limited production run of just 918 units. After it was introduced in 2013, the 918 Spyder was sold out in more than just a year. On its odometer, this 918 Spyder has so far recorded just 45 miles (or 72 kilometers), which are essentially delivery miles. This means that the owner of this 918 Spyder might have not driven it or just took this sports car only for a quick spin after it was delivered. Acura has unveiled the latest iteration of the Acura NSX at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, in Moneterey, California. The 2019 Acura NSX is still as powerful as before, but the luxurious sports car is now a better performer. It also boasts of new colors both on the exterior and interior, as well as a number of new design cues.
The 2019 Acura NSX unveiled at The Quail is finished in a new premium paint option – the Thermal Orange Pearl coat. This new finish is a tribute to 30 years of Acura motorsports vehicles with orange accented liveries. In addition, orange calipers are also available for the optional carbon ceramic metallic (CCM) brakes. Likewise, red calipers can be fitted to the standard iron brakes.
Moreover, the front grille garnish for all 2019 Acura NSX models are now body-colored instead of silver. SSC North America, formerly known as Shelby SuperCars, has been working on a successor for the SSC Ultimate Aero. A concept of the successor was unveiled at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, but due to unknown reasons, the final car has yet to make into production. Seven years after the concept at the same place and event, SSC North America is unveiling to the public the final form of this concept as it goes into production – the new SSC Tuatara.
The new SSC Tuatara is named after a greenish-brown and gray lizard – which can only be found in New Zealand -- known for having the fastest molecular evolution for any living animal. The SSC Tuatara unveiled at Pebble Beach was also wrapped in similar grayish color. Underneath this wrapped is a body and a chassis all made from carbon fiber. Moreover, the 20-inch wheels of the Tuatara are also made from carbon fiber. By employing carbon fiber, SSC North America is able to make Tuatara a lightweight hypercar with a dry weight of just 2,750 lbs. (1,247 kg).
The use of carbon fiber also paved way for a wind-cheating, aerodynamically superior curvy design. The incredibly sporty overall looks of the new SSC Tuatara hypercar is penned by Jason Castriota, a former designer at Pininfarina. The design of the new Tuatara takes inspiration from the aerospace industry. Noble Automotive has been building the Noble M600 supercar since 2010. Featured in Top Gear, the M600 is currently Noble’s only model in production. That may change in the near future as the British carmaker has made known its intention to build an all-new supercar by displaying the Noble M500 at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
But before drooling at the Noble M500 displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, let it be known that this is just a full-size mockup or a non-working prototype. The main reason for this is that M500 is still in its early phases of development, which is also why the new Noble supercar most likely won’t be produced this year.
Wrapped in bright yellow finish with black-tinted glasses, this mockup model represents how the Noble M500 would look like when it is finally built. As a mockup, the M500 at Goodwood is just for show, but doesn’t have the specs and features intended for its final version. This non-working prototype doesn’t even have an interior. Right now, Audi is in the earliest stages when it comes to developing a fully electric supercar. But as this technology is still a few years away before they can be used, Audi sees this as one of the obstacles.
Peter Oberndorfer, Audi’s boss of product and technology communications, told Motoring that at this moment, they really consider everything, but they think that battery development is vital.
Oberndorfer believes that future solid state batteries will be necessary to achieve the perfect combination of performance and range. Peter Mertens, the development boss, confirms that solid state batteries will not be available anytime soon. Pagani Zonda will not allow the spotlight to be away from it, even years after the Huayra has been introduced. Now, there is a very special one on the road that is specially hand painted by the well-known artist Shalemar Sharbatly. The design is so vibrantly beautiful that it is going to be difficult to keep your eyes out of the supercar.
The project began with Foglizzo, an Italian luxury leather company, who has the desire to show off their huge range of dyes for customizing the colour of their hides. The first thing they did was to wrap the supercar in white, and for four days, Sharbatly took her time to unleash her work of art.
When looking at the finished product, you can see that the artist has used different colours on different sections on the Zonda. To point that out, the front part is a combination of blue and green with purple touches, the driver’s side then has shades of sapphire and cerulean, and the passenger side looks better with some red, orange, and maroon. The rear end of the car, where the tail is, then indicates a mix of these colour motifs. It is a beautiful look for the already stunning supercar. The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has been out in the market for about 2 years now, with the last number in the model’s name indicating that the vehicle has a two wheel drive layout, which was implemented in the new Audi R8 V10 RWS. If you are a fan of RWDs and are expecting to see a larger Aventador with that setup, you will be disappointed as the automaker has no plans of developing an RWD version.
During the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Australia’s Drive magazine interviewed R&D boss of Lamborghini, Maurizio Reggiani. Here, he revealed that the Aventador will remain to be the company’s flagship model and is going to keep its all wheel drive system. You may be wondering why that has been decided. Well, it is because sending as much power from the V12 to the rear axle will allegedly make the vehicle difficult to manage once it hits a certain speed. To be safe, the automaker decided not to let this happen as they will be liable for it.
Furthermore, they assured that the decision was not only made due to safety reasons, but also because the Lamborghini Aventador is meant to keep its all-four wheel configuration. Lamborghini has made it a point for its future vehicles to have the same renowned exhaust note. That is why the automaker has put the focus on hybrids instead of going full throttle on building fully electric vehicles. Hybrids are perfect because they reduce dangerous emissions but customers and onlookers alike still get to enjoy the sound of its powerplant.
In an interview between CarAdvice and Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, we learned that the automaker looks at hybrid machines as the answer to carbon dioxide requirements. With a hybrid, they’re able to keep the natural aspirated appeal but reduce the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.
Reggiani also mentioned that the future Aventador and Huracan will still retain their naturally aspirated engine, but it is not impossible for them to have hybrid assistance. The racetrack-bred Zenvo TSR has been so awe-inspiring that some drivers are aching to take it to the streets. But they couldn’t, as the TSR isn't designed to be legally driven on the streets. However, Zenvo Automotive is unveiling a new version of the TSR that could be legally driven on the streets – the all-new Zenvo TSR-S.
Zenvo intended the new TSR-S as a street legal version of the TSR, which is why it bears the ’S’ in its model name. It is the third model in Zenvo’s TS (Twin Supercharged) model lineup and is basically a crossover between the TS1 GT car and the TSR, marrying remarkable on-road capabilities and utmost exclusivity. After all, Zenvo is planning just to build five examples of the TSR-S a year – a testament to its exclusive nature. The Danish high-performance carmaker has already commenced production of the new TSR-S.

A new version of the Lamborghini Aventador is definitely on the way; it is just that the supercar maker has yet to announce its official name. There have been reports saying that this would be a Performante, an SE, a GT, a JOTA or an SV, although nothing is sure yet. Nonetheless, the newest Aventador is a true performer, with a potential power output of more than 800 PS.
While Lamborghini has yet to officially announce the true moniker of its new Aventador creation, it seems like a leak has occurred. Weeks ago, an Instagram user shared a leaked image of the instrument display showing the name of the new Lamborghini supercar – the Aventador SVJ. The letters SV has been known to stand for Super Veloce, which are the Italian words for “super fast.” Quite a number of Raging Bull models have already received this designation.
The letter J, meanwhile, was first used by adopted by the factory’s test driver Bob Wallace, whose drove a special version of the Lamborghini Miura that bears the J mark. In fact, Lamborghini actually managed to convert some Miura SV models to SV/J specification. We are expecting a lot from Hennessey’s Venom F5, as it is reported to have a top speed of 300 miles per hour. This sounds like something no decent hypercar fan would want to pass up. And even though we have already seen the coupe variant at last year’s SEMA, the sad part is that it is not road-ready just yet. So hopefully, we see a working version of the Hennessey at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks.

Mercedes-Benz recently published an AMG Project One teaser, and just by hearing those words, I am pretty sure that we got you excited. But here is the thing, it wasn’t a teaser of a hyper car this time, but a boat instead - or should we say hyper boat?
This boat is not like any regular boat out there, but it can be more accurately described as a Cigarette Racing offshore powerboat. It has been inspired by the impressive Mercedes-AMG Project One. The good news here is that we have been given full disclosure on this boat, and we are telling you now that it isn’t like your regular seagoing yacht that has an automaker’s badge but cannot perform. In fact, this is quite the opposite of that. With over 51 feet in length, this model is packed with carbon fiber, and can do 140 miles per hour (225 kilometers per hour) on water.
This boat is called the Cigarette Racing 515 Project One. It does not have the hypercar’s monstrous engine but that is completely fine with us. Unlike about a handful of automakers out there, Ford claims that they do not care about breaking lap records. Recently, the GT supercar shattered the fastest lap time at Virginia International Raceway. In fact, they were able to achieve this in “less than ideal circuit conditions”, and with only a small support crew, and a driver (Billy Johnson) who has never lapped that circuit before.
The Ford GT came home with a record time of 2:38.62 after their recent visit to the Virginia International Raceway, but the automaker claims that they do not intend on building on that record - sorry GT fans.
Ford also recently told the Drive that they will not be going to the Nurburgring (or any other track) anytime soon to compete with vehicles like the Viper ACR and Corvette Z06. In the 1990s, one of the most well-known supercars was the Bugatti EB 110. While its popularity has diminished with the passing of time, it has recently gotten some press at a few auctions and quickly got back to the spotlight.
Now, Casil Motors is planning a revival of sorts for the said model with its SP-110 Edonis Fenice. They gave it a new body and some upgraded mechanicals, together with some of the EB 110’s remaining carbon fiber monocoques. The firm will only produce a total of 15 units.
Under the hood of the SP-110 Edonis Fenice is still the same V12 engine from the EB 110. But instead, it has 3.8 liters with two turbos, which is larger than the original model that only had a quad-turbo 3.5 liter unit. McLaren Automotive has created its first-ever supercar prototype powered fully by electricity. This was confirmed by none other Dan Parry-Williams, the company’s very own Engineering Design Director, in an interview with UK’s Autocar. Not only did Parry-Williams confirm the story but he also provided extra details with regards to the prototype.
In the same interview, Parry-Williams said that the company already has a pure EV and one of the reasons is that the company wanted to know what it took to be able to offer excellent driver engagement in a purely electric world. He added that it has been quite a journey for the company to go from here to there as it relates to the company’s products.
The biggest issue though, Parry-Williams disclosed, continued to be related to the battery technology. This is because a high performance race car would need a large amount of energy. He explained that when it comes to an electric supercar, the batteries are typically drained after only 30 minutes running on the track. According to a posting on Craigslist, the seller is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The model is a new McLaren 720S and was initially offered for 30 BTC before the seller lowered it to 25 BTC. If there is one thing that Pagani Automobili and Fiat have in common, it is the fact that they are Italian companies that build and assemble vehicles. There is currently no connection between the two companies or the two Italian brands. However, a one-off sports car project is serving as a bridge between Pagani and Fiat, at least visually.
Here is the new Pagani Huayra Lampo, a one-off creation that was born from the collaboration between Pagani and Garage Italia Customs. No, the Pagani Huayra Lampo didn’t come into existence as a project between Pagani and Fiat. However, the new Huayra Lampo wraps itself in a retro theme heavily inspired by a Fiat of the 1950s. This Fiat vehicle -- the 1954 Fiat Turbina -- was very well known despite never coming out of production and remaining as a concept car.
Fiat introduced the Turbina in 1954 as an engineering concept that makes use of a gas turbine for propulsion power. The Turbina was known for employing a mid-mounted powerplant with three different turbines: two serving as compressors for the third turbine, which propels the wheels. This engine delivers 300 hp (220 kW) of max output, enough to allow the Fiat Turbina to reach a top speed of 155 miles per hour. Furthermore, the Fiat Turbina has a very low coefficient of drag value of 0.14 Cd, a record it held for 30 years. But Fiat had to discontinue the Turbina because it consumed too much fuel and had issues with overheating.
