Hyundai wanted to ensure that it doesn’t get left out in the hybridized vehicle game in the United States, and it just took the needed steps by unveiling the extensively redesigned 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show.
The redesigned elements on the new 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Sonata PHEV are meant not just to make them more appealing to customers in the United States, but also to complement and optimize the efficiency of their powertrains.
Both the new Sonata Hybrid and Sonata PHEV are fitted with the South Korean carmaker’s 2.0-liter Nu GDI four-cylinder engine that delivers 154 hp of output and 140 lb- ft. of torque, as coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission, as well as an electric motor. However, these Sonata models differ in terms of drivetrain implementation and battery capacity.Read the entire article Hyundai unveils 2018 Sonata Hybrid and PHEV at Chicago Auto Show
Toyota’s big plan for the 2018 Chicago Auto Show was to reveal their updated and more powerful 2019 TRD Pro lineup of off road ready models. These models consist of the 4Runner, Tacoma and the Tundra. One of the upgrades here is the 2.5 inch internal bypass shock absorbers from Fox. Customers can get any of the three models in shades like Midnight Black Metallic, Super White or the exclusive Voodoo Blue.
The Fox shocks are initially soft, but they become stiffer as the piston moves through it. The oil increases volume for better damping during hard driving - thanks to the external reservoirs. Dust boots, on the other hand, protect parts from debris.
First up is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro that got suspension upgrades for when the road gets rough. The front part is raised by an inch, because of the spring, and there’s a larger front sway bar for easier handling. Important mechanical parts are protected by the skid plates that also give the TRD a better style. A set of 16 inch wheels was added and was finished in black. These are then wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar All-Terrain tires.Read the entire article 2019 Toyota TRD Pro lineup is perfect for your off-road adventures
After unveiling the all-new 2019 Ford Edge ST at the Detroit Auto Show, the American carmaker is doing a surprising yet essential follow-up to the range-topping crossover model at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show – the all-new 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite.
As its name implies, the Ford Edge Titanium Elite is a step up from the Titanium package, while still lurking below the Platinum. In a sense, the Titanium Elite could be considered as Platinum Lite, although the moniker chosen is more indicative that it is one of the higher-spec models of the all-new Ford Edge. The introduction of the Edge Titanium Elite is Ford’s way of taking advantage of the fact that a good number of Edge customers prefer higher-specs version when purchasing a new crossover.
Ever since introducing the Edge in 2006, Ford has already sold more than 2 million units around the world, over 1.3 million units of them handed to customers in the United States. In fact, sales of all high-spec SUVs and crossover in Ford’s lineup have surged 6 percent in the past four years.Read the entire article 2019 Ford Edge Titanium Elite is unveiled at 2018 Chicago Auto Show
Ram Trucks dropped quite a bomb at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show when it unveiled the all-new 2019 Ram 1500, representing the fifth generation of the light duty pickup truck. Now, the Ram 1500 is making an appearance at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, and this time, the light duty pickup truck is wrapped in Mopar parts and accessories.
A result of a partnership between the Ram Trucks and Mopar brands, a 2019 Ram 1500 modified for outdoor sports is making an appearance in Chicago. It is essentially the Big Horn Sport 4x4 version of the newly unveiled fifth-generation Ram 1500 as wrapped in Flame Red finish and dressed up in a wide array of Mopar products designed especially for this light duty pickup truck. According to Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service at Mopar, the customized truck at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show demonstrates what is possible when accessorizing the all-new Ram 1500.
These Mopar products include certain parts that enhance the truck’s off-rood capability as well as numerous storage systems, parts and accessories. While the customized 2019 Ram 1500 is already clothed with several Mopar parts and accessories, the menu for the all-new light duty pickup truck actually listed more than 200 available products. That’s pretty extensive.Read the entire article Mopar-customized 2019 Ram 1500 appears at 2018 Chicago Auto Show
For Volkswagen fans, we are sure that you know that the Arteon has been on sale overseas for quite some time now. And now, the automaker has good news for United States fans as the midsize sedan makes its debut at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. And speaking of the model, it is set to go on sale in the US during the third quarter of the year. The Arteon now has more cabin space, and is a better and more modern replacement for the VW CC.
The Arteon, a midsized sedan with a four-door coupe like roofline, is based on the same MQB modular platform, as models like the Golf, Tiguan, and the new Jetta. Similar to the CC that came before it, the Arteon is sleeker, and has better styling elements. In fact, it acts as a good alternative to the Passat sedan.
Though similar to the CC, the Arteon has a wheelbase that is five inches longer than the CC, making it longer and wider - meaning that it gives more space to the passengers. In contrary to that, it gets shorter overhangs that make it look extra sporty.Read the entire article 2019 VW Arteon debuts in Chicago, set to start selling in 3Q
Last year, Chevrolet revealed to us their new Equinox RS. And this year, it seems that the automaker has decided to use the RS moniker again, but this time, on the Traverse SUV. Of course, the Traverse RS gets a complete makeover inside and out. As its name suggests, the “Rally Sport” variant gives it a more distinct kind of fun to drive sportiness, according to Chevy. Too bad it does not improve the engine’s horsepower here.
Having said that, the Traverse RS remains with the same 2.0 liter turbocharged Ecotec engine, delivering 257 horsepower (192 kilowatts) and 295 pound feet (400 Newton metres) of torque. This engine should then come with a nine speed automatic transmission, giving the Traverse RS better fuel economy figures of 20 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
When looking at the RS version from the outside, one would notice a sportier looking Traverse - this includes a black grille, black window trim, black roof rails, and black bowtie emblems. It also now comes standard with HID headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, upper and lower active aero shutters, as well as a set of 20 inch aluminum wheels finished in what they call the Dark Android shade.Read the entire article 2018 Chevrolet Traverse RS gets sporty upgrades sans actual power boost
Around two years ago at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show, Nissan introduced three concepts of winter vehicles, based on the Murano, Pathfinder and Rogue. Since these were made for the snow, they come with snow tracks instead of wheels. Now, in 2018, the automaker decided to highlight a new wintery concept that is closer to being a production model, and far from the Winter Warrior concepts, with the new 2018 Nissan Armada Snow Patrol. It will make its debut together with the bizarre 370Zki.
The snow patrol version of the Nissan Armada is based on the standard version of the 2018 model year, with a 5.8 liter V8 and a seven speed automatic transmission, giving out 390 horsepower. Both wheels and tires have been replaced with a set of 20 inch Cognito Series 61 wheels, covered in Pro Comp MT2 off road tires finished in satin black. The Armada’s suspension has been raised up front and in the back as well.
Today, we associate the Nissan Armada with luxury SUV, despite being associated with the Nissan Patrol for the longest time, which is an off roader and an expedition vehicle.Read the entire article This 2018 Nissan Armada Snow Patrol will make sure you get to bring all your snow gear
To celebrate 10 years of its high-performance F cars, Lexus plans to come out with a couple of special edition models. These will include a 2018 Lexus GS F sedan, together with an RC F Coupe, and both will be dressed to make them stand out when they’re on display at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. Both models will be given the same gray suit with blue accents inside and out.
This may already sound familiar to you, as the automaker actually has already brought them to the Tokyo Motor Show late last year. But what we know at that time was that those models will be exclusive to the Japanese market only – apparently, that has changed.
And yes, we are right about that. Though it will just be a limited model in the US, with only 340 units, the good news is that it will be available, and it will likely be very difficult to get one. Only 240 anniversary versions of the RC F coupe will be built, and 100 units of the thinner GS F sedans will get the special treatment. Each Lexus dealer in the US will only carry one unit of the coupe.Read the entire article Lexus brings special edition 10th anniversary models of the GS F and RC F to Chicago Auto Show
The latest teaser Nissan showed us had an image of the snowy mountains with an audio of what we thought was the 370Z’s engine sound. To cap off the teaser, it was introduced as the 370Zki. Well, if you want to see this Nissan snowmobile for yourself, check out this two-door snowmobile at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. And before you get too excited, we will already tell you that this is not for sale.
Having said that, it does not mean that it is impossible for you to customize one, it’s just that it may be quite difficult and impractical. To do this, you will have to order tracks and skis from American Track Truck. And then a highly capable person should be able to attach it to a tiny sports car. That’s where it becomes tricky. For this unit, the entire driveline had to be scrapped.
This process involves lifting the car by three inches all around, which needed a custom lift kit. But even that was not enough space for the tracks that measure four feet on the ground. Of course, other necessary things like custom mounts for the rear springs, and three-inch wheel spacers were added to get the tracks away from the car. Both the exhaust and the brake lines were rerouted, while the rear wheel wells were modified so the tracks won’t chew up the body. All that change was just for the back.Read the entire article This insane Nissan 370Zki snowmobile will be presented at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show
Volkswagen has finally revealed the long-awaited Arteon in Europe, after it made its debut earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show. As known by many, the Arteon will serve as a replacement to the sleek CC model. Luckily for the European market, they can already get behind the wheel of this model. We have yet to see this sedan in North America, but the good news is that we do not have to wait much longer.
If our sources are right, the new VW Arteon will make an appearance in the US soil at the upcoming 2018 Chicago Auto Show in February 2018. It will then go on sale a few months after that. For those who are considering getting this car, expect the 2019 Arteon to have an asking price of $34,500 in the United States, similar to the price range of the outgoing CC. For European buyers, the Arteon will be priced at £34,305.
Similar to models like the Golf, Atlas and the upcoming Jetta, among other upcoming models, the US-spec Arteon will be riding on the same VW Group’s MQB platform. So under its hood will be a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-four engine that can also be found in the European model.Read the entire article Expect to see the VW Arteon at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show
South Korean automaker, Hyundai, is rolling out a rejuvenated D-segment sedan. Hyundai previously produced the Sonata with an extroverted, dramatic imaged but softened the look of the current generation vehicle that was revealed to the public eye 3 years ago. Recently Hyundai reverted back to its extroverted and dramatic outline of the midsized sedan.
The pre-ramped up 2018 Hyundai Sonata was launched last March of this year in its homestead in South Korea. Currently the aesthetically modified Sonata midsized sedan will make its debut this week in North America, specifically participating at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Akin to its Korean counterpart, the newly tweaked 2018 Sonata sports a newly revised front end that highlights the new "cascading" grille and boosted front fasciae fitted with vertical LED running lights.
Hyundai exclaimed that the brand new front end of the vehicle is equipped with vertical side air intakes to provide the car a more planted feel, and its hood revised to make it lower at the front, in which it gives the 4 door sedan a sleeker look. The new "cascading" grille got its influence from the molten steel that is flowing outside of the caldron. However the overall body of the 2018 Sonata did not have a hint of change as it’s still maintaining a sleek, low roofline of the pre-ramped up unit. Another option that the consumer can choose is the Full LED headlamps. The rear part of the sedan is sporting a sharper looking LED taillights, with a lettering that reads "Sonata". Impressively the rear is less cluttered looking than that of its former self.Read the entire article Recently facelifted 2018 Hyundai Sonata comes fresh off the oven
Next week, a variety of new and refreshed models will grace the 2017 New York Auto Show. Once again, various automakers will come together to show off their latest products and features. And officials have confirmed that one of those vehicles is none other than Hyundai’s newly refreshed 2018 Sonata midsize sedan.
Not much has been revealed of what is inside the car and what it can do (or achieve), but reports say that the American model has a close resemblance with the newly updated Korean version which made its official debut in South Korea just a few days ago.
If we would base the new look of the American model with the Korean version, then it would also have a redesigned front grille, new LED running lights, redesigned taillights, and a new trunk badge which also functions as its opening handle – a few of the exterior revisions that we will be expecting.Read the entire article New and improved 2018 Hyundai Sonata to grace the 2017 New York Auto Show
Hyundai officially debuted the redesigned Sonata in South Korea. This has been a long time coming for auto enthusiasts after having been subjected to a short teaser campaign, spy photos, and a leaked image.
This redesign is said to be advantageous for the midsize sedan as it will now incorporate the brand’s newest design language that was first revealed with the i30 and the Elantra.
Hyundai said that for the South Korean version, all of the trim levels will be fitted with the center console having a 7-inch display as standard on the interior. However, customers will be given the option to have the 8-inch screen, if they so wish. Whether the customer decides to go for the standard trim or the premium one, the infotainment systems for both will be compatible not only with Apple CarPlay but also with Android Auto.Read the entire article 2017 Hyundai Sonata Facelift gets South Korean debut
t seems as if something had flown out of the drawing board. Kind of. Before the Korean carmaker holds its official debut this year, sketches of the updated 2018 Hyundai Sonata have leaked on the Internet. Based on the reports, the teasers first came from Hyundai’s official Facebook page but a recent post from Hyundai-Blog also has the same drawings of the new sedan.
Although it wasn’t the first time that the upcoming model was spied online, the sketches prove to be more revealing as far as the design cues and how the finished product would turn out later on.
If anything, the new updates give the new Sonata a sportier look and it appears to have more of a European flair this time as compared to the current model. At least judging from the overall impression. Thanks to Schreyer’s signature nose grille, the most noticeable changes go to the front end which also includes new headlights and distinctive daytime running lights in LED. Besides these changes, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is expected to come with redesigned cabin with new trims to match as well the latest information and entertainment system.Read the entire article Sketches of Hyundai Sonata with its new facelift have surfaced online
A new body configuration will be added to Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD large pickup trucks starting in the 2017 model year. The Japanese carmaker announced at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show that its Crew Cab and Single Cab body configurations for the Titan and Titan XD are now joined by the new King Cab body.
With the announcement, Nissan’s Titan and Titan XD lineup is now available in three cabs and three bed length configurations. Both the Titan King Cab and Titan XD King Cab are available in either 4x4 and 4x2 drive. Three grade levels -- S, SV and PRO-4X – are also offered.
The King Cab configuration is basically a cross between the Crew Cab and Single Cab. Its cabin is smaller than on the Crew Cab but is still larger than the Single Cab. Moreover, the King Cab still offers seating for rear passengers, just like the Crew Cab. According to Nissan, the King Cab version of the half-ton Titan and the three-quarter ton Titan XD will be able to accommodate up to six occupants – three in the somewhat cramp rear cabin and another three on the front row. The front row usually seats two – the driver and a passenger.Read the entire article Nissan adds King Cab body style to its 2017 Titan and Titan XD large pickup truck lineup
If you are wondering why this Alfa Romeo SUV being shown at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show looks so familiar, wonder no more. Well, it is because it is identical to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV that was unveiled by the Italian carmaker at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show.
When we say these models are identical, we mean that they are the same. While Alfa Romeo showed both the base and higher-end versions of the Stelvio in LA, the one shown in Chicago is only the performance variant. Simply put, the version being shown at 2017 Chicago Auto Show sits at the top of the range of the Stelvio SUV model. Welcome, the dynamics-focused Stelvio QV or Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
As far as the looks of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is concerned, it might be easier to describe this SUV as the taller and more practical version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan. This shouldn’t surprise us since the Stelvio SUV has essentially adopted the design language found in the Giulia sedan. The Stelvio also features flowing headlights, muscular wings and a large triangular grille – as found on the Giulia sedan.Read the entire article Alfa Romeo displays 510 hp Stelvio Quadrifoglio SUV at 2017 Chicago Auto Show
What does Chevy’s all–new Redline Series have to say about this? Nissan always takes the lead in designing trim packages for self-expression. As soon as Nissan first came out with the Maxima Midnight Edition last 2016, it quickly gained a positive feedback from its customers. To keep up with the increasing demand for more varieties, Nissan introduces the Midnight Edition package for its Sentra, Rogue, Pathfinder, Murano, and Altima models.
According to Nissan’s Eric Ledieu, about eighty-five percent of the entire SR sales has been accounted for the Maxima SR after it initially introduced the black-on-black exterior trim package. Ledieu added that although the positive audience reaction was quite unexpected at that time, they made it immediately available on the Maxima SR. After all, increasingly more people want to have that “sporty look” with dark accents and dark wheels.
The latest “Midnight Edition” basically consists of black trim accessories but it now has broader and more numerous choices for exterior body paints. Depending on the model, there will be several red variations available including Red Alert, Cayenne and Coulis. The black variants will come in Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black and Super Black. Other than red and black, customers can also avail the Midnight Edition with a Pearl White exterior paint finish.Read the entire article Nissan launches 6 Midnight Edition models at 2017 Chicago Auto Show
Both the Toyota Sequoia and the Toyota Tundra may be tough vehicles but they don’t lack style. But how could we make these two vehicles – some of the largest in Toyota’s lineup – become tougher yet more stylish? Let’s ask the guys at Toyota’s in-house tuning shop, Toyota Racing Development or TRD.
However, before we know it, TRD has already developed a new grade for the 2018 models of both Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck and the Sequoia large SUV. This grade – called as TRD Sport – makes sure that performance and style go hand-in-hand wherever the Tundra and the Sequoia are driven.
Let’s start off with the Tundra TRD Sport. This grade is available in 4x4 and 4x2 models in CrewMax and Double Cab body variants of the Tundra pickup as powered by a 381-hp 5.7-liter i-Force V8 engine. Expect better road performance for this version of the Tundra thanks TRD Sport Tuned Bilstein Shocks as well as TRD front and rear anti-sway bars.Read the entire article Toyota unveils TRD Sport grade for 2018 Tundra pickup and Sequoia SUV
Aiming to build hype for its 2018 Ford Mustang, the American automaker is showing the face-lifted sports coupe at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. Just like other carmakers displaying their wares in Chicago, Ford is also showing potential customers what the new Ford Mustang could offer to them.
While it is the first time that Ford showed the 2018 iteration of the pony car, the Chicago Auto Show presents a good chance for those who are still aching to see the new Ford Mustang, which now features a redesigned front end and a restyled rear end.
On the outside, the new 2018 Ford Mustang is now provided with lower remodeled hood, which is around an inch (2.54 cm) lower than before. This bonnet and its matching vents – now repositioned -- give the 2018 Ford Mustang a more aggressive and more dynamic appearance on the road. Its upper and lower front grilles also received a bit of remodeling. Moreover, Ford gave the new Mustang a set of all-LED headlight lights with available fog lamps.Read the entire article Ford is showing off 2018 Mustang at 2017 Chicago Auto Show
Hyundai is hoping to take a piece of the compact hatchback market currently dominated by the Volkswagen Golf and the Honda Civic by unveiling the new 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT, a hatchback version of the sedan model, at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show.
Power for the 2018 Hyundai Elantra will be provided by any of the available two inline-four-cylinder engines. The base GT is powered by a direct injection 2.0-liter engine that delivers 162 hp of max output as paired to either a six-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the Elantra GT Sport is powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine that generates 201 hp in max output and 195 lb.-ft. of peak torque. Power is sent to the wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.Read the entire article Hyundai unveils new 2018 Elantra GT at Chicago Auto Show
