Hyundai believes that the Veloster is doing a good job, and so it is taking the sports coupe and its Turbo version for another ride as new, second generation models for the 2019 model year. In fact, the all-new 2019 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo have just been unwrapped at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
While Hyundai is saying that the second generation of the Veloster has been comprehensively redesigned, the exterior of the newest iteration seemed similar to its predecessor. However, there is truth to this claim, as much of the redesign was derived from the sports coupe’s enhanced proportions and volume. Compared to its predecessor, the new Veloster is longer by around 0.8 inches and wider by 0.4 inches.
While the 2019 Veloster is as tall as the previous model, its rear headroom has grown by 0.6 inches. Retaining an asymmetrical two-plus-one configuration, the new Veloster features a more muscular stance with more voluminous fenders and wheel arches. Hyundai moved both the cowl point and A-pillar rearward to link the hood line and belt line. Its coupe-like presence is made possible by its lowered roofline and coupe-inspired fender line. On the rear, the Veloster comes with a more assertive integrated diffuser.Read the entire article Hyundai reveals second-generation Veloster and Veloster Turbo at 2018 Detroit Auto Show
Hyundai’s new N high-performance brand is announcing its entry into the United States with the unveiling of the 2019 Veloster N, its first N model for the US market, at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
Developed at Hyundai’s global R&D center in Namyang, South Korea, and refined at its Nurburgring-based testing site in Germany, the new Veloster N boasts of a number of design details that differentiate it from the Hyudai Veloster line. As a high-performance iteration of the Veloster, it is served by a more powerful engine matched by an electronically-controlled suspension. According to the South Korean carmaker, the Veloster N was developed to deliver thrilling cornering ability, everyday sports car drivability as well as race track capability.
Hyundai worked hard to differentiate the Veloster N from the Veloster Turbo and R-Spec models, and achieved this through an array of exterior, interior and mechanical elements. For instance, the Veloster N sports an exclusive N-design front fascia and grille, as well as front air ducts for better brake cooling. On the rear, the Veloster N dons a larger N-design rear spoiler. It also features a new rear fascia design with integrated diffuser as well as a high-flow dual exhaust.Read the entire article Hyundai reveals 2019 Veloster N high-performance model at 2018 Detroit Auto Show

The Office of Defects Investigation of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has commenced a preliminary investigation over consumer complaints that panoramic sunroofs installed on some 2012 Hyundai Veloster models have unexpectedly shattered or exploded. Federal safety regulators commenced the probe on October 2, 2012, after receiving 11 complaints from consumers.
Seven of the complaints mentioned that sunroofs shattered while the 2012 Veloster is being driven typically at highway speeds, according to NHTSA. Some of the consumer-complainants said they sustained minor scratches from falling shards of glass.
Jim Trainor, a spokesman for Hyundai Motor America, said the South Korean carmaker is cooperating with NHTSA, adding that the cause of the problem is unclear. Trainor remarked that the evaluation is in its early stages and there is no need for Veloster owners to have the sunroofs inspected.Read the entire article NHTSA launches probe on 2012 Hyundai Veloster over shattered sunroofs
Interested buyers for Hyundai’s Veloster Turbo SE could avail of the turbocharged version of the Veloster 1+2 door coupe beginning September 24, 2012. Having a starting price of £21,995, the Veloster Turbo SE is Hyundai’s first vehicle to feature its 1.6-litre T-GDI engine with a high-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger.
Hyundai tweaked Veloster Turbo SE’s engine to suit European driving tastes and improve driving experience by increasing its power output and low end torque. The engine provides 186PS (184bhp) of output and 195lb ft (265Nm) of torque, which is transmitted to the wheels via a standard six-speed manual gearbox with wider gear ratios. This power allows the Veloster Turbo SE to accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 8.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 133 mph. Its maximum torque is between 1,500rpm and 4,500rpm.
The Veloster Turbo SE provides a more engaging and responsive drive. The Veloster Turbo SE also boasts of improved body control, thanks to firmer dampers. The exterior of the Veloster Turbo SE keeps the standard car’s unique 1+2 door layout, but boasts of visual enhancements -- front bumper, radiator grille and front fog lights -- to give it a sportier look. The rear of the Veloster Turbo SE is also endowed with a revised bumper, which includes a new fog lamp design with round twin exhausts and diffuser.Read the entire article 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo SE priced at £21,995 in UK
There are rumors that a high performance variant of Hyundai’s Veloster Turbo is being developed. It was only this year that the Hyundai Veloster Turbo was introduced. It is available with a 1.6-liter, turbo-four with 201-hp and 195 lb-ft of torque and costs just $21,500. It’s a bit too early for the name of this model to be announced.
One possibility is that it would be known as the R-Spec. Insiders who have seen the sports car up close said that the Veloster Turbo has a more powerful engine but it uses the same suspension as the base model Veloster. It seems like this was an intentional move by Hyundai to provide room for a model that offers better performance.
It’s possible that it would be subjected to suspension upgrades, as well as be given an even more powerful powerplant. The 2.0-liter, turbo-four with 274-hp from the Genesis Coupe may be a little too expensive for the Veloster’s price range.Read the entire article Rumor: Hyundai preparing a Veloster Turbo R-Spec

With all the hype that Hyundai Veloster got, the expectations were high for the unusual four-door hatchback. Unfortunately, the reviews were less than stellar. Nevertheless, Hyundai is claiming that the Veloster is a success, saying that on its first full month of sale, it took the highest percentage of the “compact sporty car” market.
Veloster got 31% of this niche market, surpassing the Scion tC and Fiat 500, which each owned 15% of the market share.
Veloster did even better than the MINI Cooper, which got 29% of the segment. It’s quite amazing that on average, the Veloster only stays 8 days on the dealer lot before it’s sold. In comparison, the next nearest rival is the Scion tC, which is sold within 22 days.
