Infiniti to offer outgoing G37 sedan until end of year

Even though Infiniti started rolling out its new Q50 sedan to its dealers’ showrooms on August 5, 2013, the carmaker will still receive orders for its outgoing G37 sedan throughout 2013. Infiniti is avoiding implementing a sudden shift from G37 to Q50, and thus will produce both sedan models for the rest of the year at its site in Japan. Infiniti also launched the hybrid version of the new Q50 sedan simultaneously.

The carmaker is expecting the hybrid version to account for around 10 percent of Q50 sales. Infiniti has been coordinating with its 200 dealers in the United States on the launch of the new Q50 sedan. The carmaker even held VIP customer events at about half of the dealers, giving Infiniti owners a chance to test drive the Q50 and compare it to a BMW 3-series. Infiniti will eventually offer the G37 as a less-expensive option on the Q50, according to Rob Simmons, Infiniti senior manager of marketing for the new sedan.

The carmaker, however, will not advertise the G37 anymore. According to Simmons, Infiniti is expecting initial customer traffic for the Q50 to lean more toward purchases rather than leases. Leasing accounts for around 75 percent of transactions for the Infiniti G37, currently in its seventh year. Simmons expects Q50 leasing to account to less than 50 percent of deliveries. Infiniti sold 46,828 G sedans in the US in 2012, accounting for around 40 percent of total sales.

2013 Infiniti G37 Sedan priced at $37,795! 2013 Infiniti EX37 will cost $37,300!

The pricing details of the 2013 Infiniti G37 sedan and the EX37 crossover have been released. The G37 sedan with a seven-speed automatic transmission has a starting price of $37,795. Meanwhile, the 2013 Infiniti EX37 has a base price of $37,300. For 2013, Infiniti discontinued the entry-level G25, G37 Limited Edition, and Sport Appearance Edition.

Instead of the G25 at the base, it’s now the G37 Journey that has the lowest price. The 2013 model is priced $3800 higher. It’s also priced $2400 higher than the G25 Journey with comparable features. The G37 sedan has the same price and features as last year’s model. The 2013 Infiniti G37 Journey sedan gets leather seats, HID headlights, and the brand’s RearView Monitor.

The all-wheel-drive $39,395 2013 G37x sedan is priced $1600 higher than the G37 Journey and comes with the same standard equipment. The loaded 2013 G37 Sport 6MT has a price tag of $42,395 and is equipped with 18-inch wheels, summer tires, sport brakes, sport-tuned suspension, limited-slip differential, a unique front fascia, sport side sills, front sport seats, and aluminum pedals. Infiniti has no plans to build the 2013 model year G25 sedan

Infiniti doesn’t plan on offering a 2013 model year G25, in preparation for the upcoming new-generation G series, according to Infiniti spokesman Kyle Bazemore. The G25, having a base price of $33,495 including shipping, is $4,000 less expensive than the Infiniti’s volume car G37. This is due to the fact that the G37 is ran by a more powerful 3.7-liter V-6, while the G25 is powered by an older 2.5-liter V-6 powerhouse.

The G25, however, account for only a small part of total G-sedan sales, Bazemore says. Infiniti unveiled the G25 in the 2011 model year, portraying it as an entry-level portal into the brand. Infiniti launched the G-series -- a less-expensive, lower horsepower model – in 2010 as an effort to attract more women buyers, as the brand has been more enticing to men.

The company has scheduled the G series for a redesign for 2014, as the carmaker refuses to upgrade the G25 engine as it already reached the end of its cycle. Infiniti however, will be implementing engine upgrades to its two 2013 models: the EX and FX crossovers. Both models will be fitted with 3.7-liter V-6 engines, in lieu of the 3.5-liter engines that are used on the 2012 version. Infiniti will roll out the 2013 models in September.

Infiniti discontinues the G25 sedan for the 2013MY

When Infiniti announced its 2013 model lineup, the G25 sedan was conspicuously absent. It had its debut almost two years ago and since then, it was considered a worthy rival to BMW‘s 328i model. It was criticized because of its pricing and because it was very similar to the G37 model. This is believed to be Infiniti’s main reason for discontinuing the model.

The other G sedan models that were phased out are the G37 Sport Appearance Edition and the G37 Limited Edition. Aside from these, no other significant revisions were made. With regards to the G Coupe, Infiniti axed the base model for the 2013 model year. The convertible variant will have the IPL model added to the collection.

2013 lineup will also mean the inclusion of the 3.7-liter to the EX and FX lineups. The EX model got a 28hp boost while the FX model received a 22hp increase. Some of the models were renamed to reflect the engine change -- EX37 and FX37. There’s a question of why the all-new JX continues to be powered by the aging 3.5-liter but it’s possible that Infiniti will update the JX for 2014 by giving it the 3.7-liter.

Set to be launched in 2013, the all-new Infiniti G-series saloon will be available with four-cylinder Mercedes diesel and petrol engines at the start. Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury division, hopes to hit its growth targets in Europe with the launch of two models to compete with the new BMW 3-series and a new Audi A3. Just a thirsty 3.7-litre V6 petrol engine will be offered for the current G-series saloon as well as its coupe and cabriolet siblings.

This means that its European sales don’t actually threaten its rivals in this market where four-cylinder diesel models dominate. Tony Lewis, Infiniti’s regional director for northern Europe, said that it will make certain that from the start, only the right engines will be offered.

The new G-series would also be the model that will receive Infiniti’s new design language, which was most recently seen as a preview on the much-admired Emerg-E concept. Infiniti is planning to sell 500,000 cars globally in 2016. Last year, it only sold 145,000 units. But in the UK in 2011, only 500 units were sold. However, the new G-series and front-drive A3 rival will be the core of an expanded Infiniti lineup that is expected to increase UK volume to 20,000 units by 2016.

Infiniti will add a new 2013 IPL G Convertible to its lineup of premium performance vehicles in spring next year. The Infiniti Performance Line, or IPL, doesn’t just look at engine power and acceleration. In fact, Infiniti asserts that its product design philosophy is focused on “total vehicle performance,” which consists of driving elements as well as exclusive exterior and interior features offered at attractive prices. Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore confirmed that the IPL G Convertible is on its way when he made an appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The IPL G Convertible Concept is on display here. The IPL G Convertible Concept is equipped with a series of equipment and modifications that are believed to carry over to the production IPL G Convertible. These include exclusive aerodynamic styling, an IPL-tuned V6, exhaust and suspension, a set of 19-inch IPL aluminum-alloy wheels, three-piece retractable hardtop and a distinctive red leather-appointed interior that’s set against a Malbec Black exterior.

The Infiniti G37 Convertible, which is powered by an advanced 3.7-liter V6 and given a three-piece power retractable hardtop, is the basis of the new IPL G Convertible. Poore said that just like other Infiniti models, the new IPL G Convertible will be different from its rivals that are more established.
