The Apple iPad won’t be offered anymore as the owners’ manual for the Hyundai Equus luxury car, according to a report from Drive On. Starting with the 2012 model year, there won’t be a free iPad that would be placed in its glove compartment.
These new cars will begin arriving in September. What owners can rely on when they need to look up information about their car is the paper version of the manual, according to spokesman Jim Trainor.

Hyundai is offering several perks to those who have bought an Equus luxury sedan. Two weeks after purchase, the customer is asked to have a follow-up visit at the dealership where he or she will be given a Wi-Fi-enabled iPad. This iPad will have a software application that will allow owners to schedule service appointments conveniently. Another perk is a vehicle valet service.
The car will be retrieved by a Hyundai representative from the owner's home or office and when the work is completed, delivers it back. Barry Ratzlaff, Hyundai's director of service operations, said that the iPad app will help set the scheduling of the appointments.

Hyundai has just unveiled a new offering that combines the performance of a sports car and the practicality of a five-door vehicle. Following a blazing race between professional Hyundai Motorsport drivers Thierry Neuville and Gabriele Tarquini, the South Korean carmaker took the wraps off the new Hyundai i30 Fastback N.
Essentially Hyundai’s third N model after the i30 N and the Veloster N, the new i30 Fastback N boasts of the same design cues as the other two models, as adapted for a different body style. Dubbed by Hyundai as the new i30 Fastback N as the first five-door hot coupe in the C-segment, the all-new i30 Fastback N borrows with a number of dynamic elements of the i30 N five-door hatchback, such as the N Grille as well as the N front bumper and a distinct rear bumper, both featuring a red character line below. The new i30 Fastback N also features a lowered body, a black side sill, a dual twin muffler exhaust as well as an arched rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate. The rear spoiler is highlighted by a glossy black accent.
Inside, the all-new Hyundai i30 Fastback N features an exclusive N steering wheel with red-colored N stitching that is also found on the gear shift and the seats. Hyundai Motor continues to make its i30 range more appealing by offering a new diesel engine that is compliant with Euro 6d Temp emission standards. For the 2019 model year, all of Hyundai’s refined i30 models are compliant with new emission standards while boasting of minor tweaks in design and latest connectivity elements.
The 2019 Hyundai i30 range – which include the i30 five-door, i30 Wagon, i30 Fastback and i30 N -- is now available with the newly developed Smartstream 1.6-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that is available in three power outputs: 96 PS (70 kW), 116 PS (85 kW) and 136 PS (100 kW).

Rumors of a potential merger between Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Hyundai Motor Group quickly spread like a wildfire. But the South Korean carmaker is also quick enough to try dousing the fire by denying the rumor.
The denial was made officially to Roadshow by Michael Stewart, senior group manager of Hyundai Corporate and Marketing Public Relations. Stewart said the merger rumor is totally groundless.
As early as 2015, FCA has been courting suitors for a possible merger or takeover. In 2017, there were rumors saying that Hyundai has shown interest to acquire FCA. A number of the Chinese companies had also expressed interest in buying out FCA. At that time, Hyundai maintained its silence over the takeover. Even FCA chief executive Sergio Marchionne denied the rumors. It seems like the Hyundai Tucson will be expanding its range because the automaker is said to give the SUV a new Sport trim that will be equipped with a 2.4 liter four cylinder with 181 horsepower (135 kilowatts) and 175 pound feet (237 Newton metres) of torque that starts at 4,000 rpm, together with a six speed automatic. This powertrain will be available in either a front wheel- or an all wheel-drive layout.
Naturally, the 2.4 liter powerplant will carry out a little more output than the current 1.6 turbocharged four cylinder engine with only 175 horsepower (131 kilowatts) and 195 pound feet (264 Newton metres). This particular engine came with a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.

At the 2018 New York Auto Show, Hyundai debuted the refreshed 2019 Tucson. Some of the new changes give the updated crossover a look that makes it more like its larger sibling, or the new 2019 Santa Fe. Inside, the new Tucson also gets a handful of new upgrades, like a thoroughly revised interior, as well as an expansive suite of driver assistance technology.
When checking out the front end of the car, one would notice a tweaked trapezoidal grille that features sharper edges compared to the current design. The middle bit now gets four slats instead of three. The model’s more angular face even extends until the headlights, which now have L-shaped LED running lights. The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is ready to hit the market with its new look and its zero emissions package. For them to be able to cater to a wider market, the automaker decided that they would offer the Kona with two powertrains, with different outputs, ranges, and prices.
For instance, the base model features an electric motor that offers 133 horsepower (99 kilowatts) and 291 pound feet (395 Newton metres) of torque. This one comes equipped with a small 39.2 kWh battery pack that could offer a maximum range of 300 kilometers (186 miles) in the new Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles test procedure (WLTP). This procedure is supposedly more relevant than the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Meanwhile, the top of the range Kona Electric was given as much as 201 horsepower (150 kilowatts) but with the same torque as the base model. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe has recently been confirmed for the South Korean market but the automaker has also spoken about the fourth-generation model in the United States. It will be offered in a diesel engine in the powertrain range and it will start arriving in dealerships this upcoming summer.
The new generation will overhaul the model’s naming scheme. For instance, the smaller five-seater version will be called the Santa Fe instead of the Santa Fe Sport. While the larger, long wheelbase, seven-passenger version will be called the Santa Fe XL. This won’t be mistaken for the three-row, eight passenger SUV that’s being developed now as this will be getting a different name.
One problem that the automaker is facing now is the fact that when the buyer gets the new 2.2 liter turbodiesel four cylinder that produces 200 horsepower (149 kilowatts) and 320 pound feet (434 Newton metres), it is advertised to have a small third-row seat. Hyundai has been sharing a number of teasers and spy shots of the fourth generation Hyundai Santa Fe. But on February 6th, it finally revealed press images of the said model. It now looks like a brand new car from the ground up, and is a bit of a departure from its predecessor. It’s mainly because the SUV now has a bolder exterior, as well as an interesting front fascia that features a set of slim upper lights like that of the Kona and the more eccentric looking Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell crossover.
The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe now has a new “cascading grille” up front, which we first saw on the i30. 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is scheduled to make its debut in late March 2018, and by now, we should already be getting teasers of the said model, and we are. In fact, they have already revealed spy shots of the fourth generation model, which shows us none other than the side profile of the revamped SUV (at least on the first photo they shared).
It seems to have a more prominent upper character line now extending from the slender Kona-like headlights to the sweptback taillights. In the first photo, we cannot really see the new grille, but it looks like the more corporate cascading grille in a larger size.
Weeks after the initial spy shots have been published, Hyundai now gives us a better idea of the Santa Fe’s design by sharing a sketch of it. This time, we see it up front. And the first thing we would say is that it is definitely sportier in character compared to its predecessor - from the LED headlights that have been placed lower, to the wider central airdam as well and bumper cladding and skid plates. The wheel arches are also slightly larger now, while boasting a new set of alloy wheels. Genesis and Hyundai are finally working together to begin the establishment of a network of Genesis-exclusive dealerships in the United States.
It was just last Friday when a statement confirmed that existing Hyundai dealers in the United States were offered the opportunity to establish separate Genesis franchises. In other words, dealerships that already sell Genesis vehicles today will finally be able to apply for a Genesis franchise if they wish to do so. The automaker actually hopes to establish a network of around 100 retailers by the end of this year.
In the United States, there are around 350 Hyundai dealerships that carry Genesis models. And when the franchises begin to pop up, then this will help cement the idea of Genesis being a standalone brand, more than a sub brand of Hyundai. This also permits Genesis specific franchises only to perform warranty work. Initially, they will have a selection process for this, choosing from a limited number of dealers who are party to the Genesis Participation Agreemen. Hyundai revealed to the press that it doesn’t plan on breaking any kind of top speed records with its newest N performance line. That is because the brand mainly focuses on the comfort and pleasure of driving its two new hatchbacks. When it comes to fun, the VW Golf GTI may be the first thing that comes to mind but the Korean automaker boldly claims that they might have beaten the said hatchback.
Albert Biermann, former head of BMW’s M division and the current head of Hyundai’s M division, shared to Australian publication Car Advice some details regarding the brand’s first high performance hatchback, the i30 N. He mentioned that the goal of this car is to make sure it is fun to drive daily, despite it being track-focused.
The automaker’s plan for the i30 N was to have it be a closer fit for the track than a Golf GTI could ever be. He also said that many GTIs can be taken to the track, but a standard GTI isn’t the same. Hyundai believes that the Veloster is doing a good job, and so it is taking the sports coupe and its Turbo version for another ride as new, second generation models for the 2019 model year. In fact, the all-new 2019 Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo have just been unwrapped at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
While Hyundai is saying that the second generation of the Veloster has been comprehensively redesigned, the exterior of the newest iteration seemed similar to its predecessor. However, there is truth to this claim, as much of the redesign was derived from the sports coupe’s enhanced proportions and volume. Compared to its predecessor, the new Veloster is longer by around 0.8 inches and wider by 0.4 inches.
While the 2019 Veloster is as tall as the previous model, its rear headroom has grown by 0.6 inches. Retaining an asymmetrical two-plus-one configuration, the new Veloster features a more muscular stance with more voluminous fenders and wheel arches. Hyundai moved both the cowl point and A-pillar rearward to link the hood line and belt line. Its coupe-like presence is made possible by its lowered roofline and coupe-inspired fender line. Hyundai’s new N high-performance brand is announcing its entry into the United States with the unveiling of the 2019 Veloster N, its first N model for the US market, at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.
Developed at Hyundai’s global R&D center in Namyang, South Korea, and refined at its Nurburgring-based testing site in Germany, the new Veloster N boasts of a number of design details that differentiate it from the Hyudai Veloster line. As a high-performance iteration of the Veloster, it is served by a more powerful engine matched by an electronically-controlled suspension. According to the South Korean carmaker, the Veloster N was developed to deliver thrilling cornering ability, everyday sports car drivability as well as race track capability.
Hyundai worked hard to differentiate the Veloster N from the Veloster Turbo and R-Spec models, and achieved this through an array of exterior, interior and mechanical elements. In the second quarter of 2017, Manfred Fitzgerald, boss of Genesis, denied any plans to build a halo sports car. Instead, he said that what the brand will concentrate on is to provide what majority of its customers want.
But without any notice, it seems like the guys from the premium South Korean automaker have changed their minds sometime last year. In fact, two executives from Hyundai confirmed that a new Genesis nameplate is already in the works. It’s possible that the clamor from the fans of Genesis was so deafening that the brand had no choice but to give in.
It was Luc Donckerwolke, vice president of Hyundai, and Woong-chul Yang, vice chairman or research and development, who confirmed the existence of this project to WheelsMagazine. They hinted that the vehicle will likely have two seats, and will be powered by a hybrid system. One thing that more car buyers look for is a panoramic sunroof. So naturally, automakers aim to give its customers what they want. Nevertheless, safety is a pertinent issue that has to be addressed. This is why Hyundai is making sure to answer all safety concerns regarding the glass sunroofs. Hyundai has developed a panoramic sunroof airbag, which they claim to be the first ever in the industry.
So how does this work? Well, the South Korean automaker installed the airbag inside the sunroof mechanism of the tempered glass roof. The airbag gets activated when the car’s on-board sensor detects the vehicle about to roll over when it crashes. In around 0.08 of a second, the airbag can be deployed from the front to the rear of the car, covering the entire roof surface. Now that is indeed a first.

The Hyundai Santa Cruz Concept has earned a ton of praises after it was unveiled in Detroit almost three years ago. Oddly, it took a while before the company came to realize its importance in boosting the US sales which as of late, have not been quite so impressive.
It can be recalled that Michael J. O’Brien, Hyundai Motor senior executive, has told Reuters before about the company’s plan of launching a new pickup truck in the US. It was also mentioned then that the main issue was on how to increase the production --- especially for the Tucson which often runs short of supply.
Initial reports also indicate that the Hyundai Kona, which is slated to launch in US early next year will come from South Korea. Then there is Dave Zuchowski, former Hyundai Motor America CEO, who said earlier this year that new SUVs including the Santa Cruz project have all received the go-signal from its corporate headquarters.
