You may have already heard that Jaguar wants to expand its sports car portfolio beyond the current F-Type lineup. But how will the company do it? Well, we have been hearing about a rebooted XK that will join the aforementioned F-Type as a more practical alternative with enough space in the back for two passengers. If our sources from Autocar are correct, then the scenario seems to be more likely.
The sources told the British publication that an XK successor is indeed included in the plans, however, the earliest this could be launched is probably in 2021. Interestingly, there is already a design concept for the third generation XK, which was already ready even before the nameplate was ended in 2014. But ultimately, Jaguar decided to pull the plug and discontinue the model entirely so they could focus on other models.
If a new XK does come into production, it is said to be based on the next generation F-Type that’s scheduled to arrive as early as next year. The current F-Type actually uses updated underpinnings of the old XK and will benefit from revised hardware for its next iteration. Jaguar’s engineers have been working on a setup that can be modified to support the creation of a 2+2 model, which means a roomier model, in the same vein as the grand tourer canned after the XKR Final Fifty Edition.Read the entire article 2021 Jaguar XK will be a 4-seater inspired by next-gen F-Type
Due to the fact that the F-Type Convertible became quite popular and since November the coupe version arrived, Jaguar decided to discontinue the XK Coupe and XK Convertible models. In addition, Jaguar decided to focus its development budget on a new family of compacts that will use a new flexible aluminum architecture.
The XK models have been produced since 1996 and the current model went on sale in 2006. Currently, the XK Coupe is priced at $85,425 while the F-Type Coupe costs $65,925.
Still, one thing is for sure: the F-Type is not a replacement for the XK, as the XK is larger and offer more interior space for up to four persons. Jaguar is planning to offer the last XK models in the United States as high-performance R models.Read the entire article Jaguar XK models will be discontinued with the 2015 model year
For the 2015MY, the Jaguar XK received two special edition models in exclusive Signature and Dynamic R specifications. The 2015 Jaguar XK Luxury model is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine rated at 385 PS as well as 515 Nm of torque and with these numbers the vehicle hits 60 mph in 5.2 seconds in Coupe guise and in 5.3 seconds in Convertible guise (100 km/h in 5.5 seconds for the Coupe and 5.6 seconds for the Convertible).
Top speed for both variants is electronically limited to 155 mph or 250 km/h, while CO2 emissions are 264 g/km. Moreover, both models use the six-speed ZF automatic gearbox with steering wheel-mounted paddles. The 2015 Jaguar XK Signature comes as standard with Luxury seats available in Ivory or Charcoal soft grain leather.
The interior also features Canvas Suede cloth headlining, Figured Ebony veneers and Bright Metal sport pedals. Jaguar is recalling 2,929 vehicles in the United States to check and fix issues that could cause vehicles to stall and for power windows to pinch. Around 940 model year 2013 XF 2-liter GTDi cars is being recalled by Jaguar Land Rover North America for possible stalling issues due to a hose clamp for the charge air cooler that could detach. In addition to possible stalling, steering and brake assistance could be lost, according to documents posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Web site, adding that Jaguar dealers will inspect the hose to ensure that it is in the correct position and tight.
Jaguar is also recalling 1,989 model year 2011-2014 XK convertible cars since their power windows might be unintentionally activated, pinching or injuring an arm or finger.
The switch in the overhead roof console may also activate the power- windows when the convertible roof is opening or closing, NHTSA said. The switch, however, does not move downward to close the windows, failing to meet federal safety standards.Read the entire article Jaguar is recalling 2,929 XF and XK vehicles in the US
The next-generation Jaguar XK is likely to be bigger after the F-type is presented. According to design director Ian Callum, Jaguar has been considering many ideas on how the XK should change. There’s still no final decision. However, Callum thinks that there’s a chance for the car to be “a bit more special than a GT” by growing in size and by entering the luxury market. Jaguar can’t confirm yet if it will turn to a two-plus-more-than-two or if it will stay as a two-plus-two.
With the launch of the F-type, the XK no longer has to function as an absolute sports coupé and luxury GT. Since the F-type will be Jaguar’s dedicated sports car, the XK can concentrate on its luxury GT credentials. It’s not probable that there will be a change in strategy for the XK but the XJ is expected to stay as a conventional saloon in its next generation, even with the weakening market for luxury four-doors.
Large luxury SUVs are now selling much better than luxury saloons. However, Callum thinks that the low luxury saloon sales are the result of the weakening global economy instead of a shift in market trends.Read the entire article Next-generation Jaguar XK will go upscale

It is reported that a Jaguar V6 diesel version of the XK sports car is being developed which the company has tested at Nurburgring. Power under the hood for the XK D is the latest 272 hp bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that's coming with the opening of the XF this spring.
Although the XK D has been track-tested, it is reported that Jaguar will be closely watching the sale of the 5.0 V8-propelled XK from which to base its final decision to put the XK D into production or not.
Since a decision this year is not feasible, therefore the car might be available in 2011 at least. This move was made because Jaguar was concerned that the XK D might be getting sales from the naturally ventilated 5.0-liter V8 XK from which greater profit is expectedRead the entire article Report: Jaguar developing diesel-powered XK
In 2010, the STARTECH program came up with great accessories that were meant to be used in coupe and convertible models of the Jaguar XK and XKR. STARTECH came up with exclusive and innovative modifications to a Jaguar XK Coupe to demonstrate what its range of accessories can do in order to personalize any Jaguar vehicle.
In this example, the engineers employed custom-made 21-inch forged wheels together with customizations to the XK Coupe’s riding height. Functionality and aesthetics do go hand in hand, so STARTECH’s stylists employed subtle modifications to the exterior of the already-elegantly designed XK Coupe.
These include spoiler flaps placed strategically on the front apron, reducing lift and improving aerodynamics in addition to making the car eye-catching. All of the enhancements to the XK Coupe were done using ultra light carbon fiber materials.Read the entire article 2010 Jaguar XK and XKR by Startech
