JE Design does the 2014 Seat Leon Cupra

The 2014 Seat Leon Cupra has just received its first tuning programme from JE Design. As a result, the Swabian tuning company is taking the Leon Cupra to another level thanks to the new distinctive wide body kit in the style of the famous Leon Cup Racers.

Available for a total of 6,188 euros, the new body kit consists of a three-part bumper attachement, front and rear wheel arch flares, side sills in carbon look as well as a new rear apron that features two molded diffusers.

As an option, JE Design offers the graphite matte complete wrapping in contrast with the red spoiler lip, grille frame, mirror caps, air outlet struts and wheel rims. The wrapping and the red accents are available for 3,570 euros.

WLTP shift forces Seat to detune Leon Cupra 300 to Leon Cupra 290

Goodbye Seat Leon Cupra 300 and say hello to the new Seat Leon Cupra 290. No thanks to a new global harmonized standard for determining the levels of fuel consumption as well as emissions, the new Leon Cupra has its power output downgraded from 300 PS (296 bhp) to 290 PS (286 bhp).

Starting September 2017, all new types of cars (new to market) registered sold in the market will have to be assessed and approved using the new Worldwide Harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) before gaining approval in Europe. Starting September 2018, all new cars will have to be tested using WLTP, and longer under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) type approval tests. WLTP essentially replaces the NEDC.

There have always been discrepancies between lab tests and real world emissions. This is because while lab tests follow standardized and repeatable procedures, real world emissions are affected by a number of variables that can’t be considered in laboratories. These variables include the weather conditions, road types, road gradients, vehicle loads, traffic conditions and even vehicle maintenance conditions.

Cupra e-Racer is the first all-electric racing touring car in the world

Cupra is marking its independence as a new brand under Spanish carmaker Seat with the introduction of the new Cupra e-Racer. Riding on strong sales in 2017, Seat is hoping to ride on the momentum by presenting the new Cupra e-Racer and a number of new creations at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show.

Touted by the carmaker as the first 100-percent electric racing touring car in the world, the new Cupra e-Racer will be one of the main attractions at the Cupra booth during the show. With the ability to deliver 300 kW (402 hp) of continuous power output, peaking at around 500 kW (679 hp), the new Cupra e-Racer could be considered as a true motorsport car.

A small sneak preview was provided by Luca de Meo, president of Seat, for the new Cupra e-Racer and other new vehicles during a web videoconference just prior to the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The preview was brief and void of many details, but it was good enough to spice up the thrill before the Spanish carmaker officially reveals the new Cupra e-Racer in Geneva in the coming days.

Just last month, SEAT made an announcement to the public that Cupra will become a standalone performance brand “for enthusiasts”, and that it will focus on creating sports versions of existing SEAT models. And already, the Spanish automaker has introduced its very first production vehicle, the Cupra Ateca, in a special ceremony in Barcelona.

Luca de Meo, the president of SEAT, commented that Cupra is a big opportunity, not only for SEAT’s business but also for its customers. The whole project started when a group of people dreamt of a way for them to conquer a new group of car lovers.

The new brand says that the sporty SUV is unique to its segment, making the Ateca a near premium product. Under the hood of this powerful crossover is a 2.0 liter turbo gas engine that has an output of 300 horsepower (221 kilowatts), making it one of the most technologically advanced engines on the market. This is paired with a newly developed seven speed dual clutch automatic DSG gearbox that gives power to all four wheels with its adaptive all wheel drive system.

Previous rumours regarding the Cupra brand, turning into a standalone sub-brand for performance models of Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo (SEAT), have finally been confirmed! On January 31st, the VAG-owned marque made that announcement, following an earlier report about a trademark filing recorded in August last year. Aside from that, the automaker also released photos of the Cupra’s new logo, and at the same time, SEAT announced that their new sub-brand will celebrate its official debut during a special event on February 22.

We can expect to see SEAT’s very first Cupra badged cars in March at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. One of the first models that will probably attend the show would be the hot Ateca, which we all saw for the very first time in November 2016. As you can see in the photos, it is similar to the Volkswagen Group and is also equipped with a turbocharged 2.0 liter gasoline engine. The automaker says that this could be tuned to give out around 300 horsepower to both axles.

If you have not been made aware, the latest model that Cupra has from SEAT would be the Leon Cupra R special edition that they only launched last September. The automaker only planned to produce 799 examples of the said model, which delivered as much as 310 horsepower. However, there are rumours going around about an even more powerful Leon ST Cupra R wagon that had as much as 335 horsepower. If this is true, then we should expect to see the model at some point this year. It may also adopt the Cupra trademark instead of it carrying the SEAT branding.

The last time SEAT gave the Leon range a refresh, it was given an extra push with an additional 10 horsepower, for a total of 300 horsepower. Despite the upgrade in performance, it was still a little less powerful than the Euro-spec VW Golf R after it went through a facelift. But this time, the SEAT Leon is at par with its counterpart from Wolfsburg, with the R version that gives it a total of 310 horsepower. That may not be that big of a difference, but it is still an upgrade.

Having said that, it will only be the six-speed manual version that will be getting 310 horsepower, while the DSG-version will only have 300 horsepower. Furthermore, just because it has an “R” badge doesn’t mean that this is an all-wheel-drive car. The range topping SEAT Leon will actually exclusively come with a front-wheel-drive layout. But if you would like to drive an AWD and have a larger trunk, you will have to deal with the 300 horsepower Leon Cupra wagon, which really is not that bad. Unlike the Golf R, the Leon Cupra R is going to be a limited-edition model that is only limited to a total of 799 examples, whereas the VW is a regular production model.

To make it stand out even more from its counterparts, SEAT gave the Leon range carbon fiber trim parts on the front and rear spoilers that come with larger front intakes plus side mirror caps finished in copper. The “Cupra” letting as well as the badges also get the same copper finish. The Leon had also been given Cupra R exclusive side skirts, along with the copper wheels and roof-mounted rear spoiler.

SEAT surprised us today with the introduction of its all-new Leon ST Cupra, a high-performance version of its well-known station wagon. Following the same recipe as the Leon Cupra, the new 2015 SEAT Leon ST Cupra is powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine that generates 265 hp (195 kW) or 280 hp (206 kW) in the Leon ST Cupra 280.

Bolted to the DSG automatic transmission, the Leon ST Cupra accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds and in 6.2 seconds when equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. Meanwhile, the Leon ST Cupra 280 needs 6.0 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) when using the optional DSG gearbox and 6.1 seconds when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission.

Both models offer a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph or 250 km/h. Despite these performances, fuel consumption is just 6.6 liter/100 km when using the DSG gearbox and 6.7 liters/100 km when using the manual gearbox, equating to CO2 figures of just 154 and 157 grams. According to SEAT, the Cupra efficiency package includes the start/stop system and brake energy regeneration.

Back in May, the SEAT Leon Cupra 280 was the king of the Nurburgring for a front-wheel drive car as it lapped the well-known German racetrack in just 7 minutes and 58 seconds. However, the Spanish hot hatch lost its crown in June when the Renault Megane RS 275 Trophy-R posted a time lap of 7 minutes and 54 seconds.

In order to celebrate this achievement, Renault released a limited edition Megane RS Trophy-R. Seat followed Renault and unveiled today the ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’ for the Leon Cupra 280.

The new performance pack brings better brakes, specially-designed 19-inch alloy wheels in black or orange as well as body-coloured side skirts for 2,025 GBP, including VAT. Semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres are available for 460 GBP, 540 GBP less than those available on the Megane RS 275 Trophy.

The SEAT Leon Cupra 280 now holds the new lap record for a front-wheel drive car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife after clocking at 7:58.4. The SEAT Leon Cupra 280 also became the first fwd production model to breach the eight-minute barrier. The production-spec Leon Cupra 280 DSG was equipped with an optional Performance Pack that includes Brembo high-performance brakes, specially designed 19-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

SEAT S.A. president Jürgen Stackmann formally disclosed the record at its Geneva Motor Show press conference. “Our ultimate expression of the successful Leon formula is the all new Leon Cupra,”Stackmann said. “It is the fastest and the most powerful car we have ever built and yet is a comfortable family car. The Cupra is our new icon.”

The new SEAT Leon Cupra managed to post this impressive record on what is considered as the most demanding racetrack in the world. The car was able to achieve the record thanks to the technological precision of the Leon Cupra. The new SEAT Leon Cupra logged an average speed of 96 mph, with a top speed of 150 mph on the Tiergarten section of the circuit.

Seat unveiled today not one, but two Cupra versions for the new Leone coupe and hatchback. Both versions are powered by a 2.0-liter TSI developing 265 hp on the Leon SC Cupra and 280 hp on the Cupra 280, offered in coupe and hatchback versions. According to the Spanish carmaker, the 2014 Seat Leon SC Cupra hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds and needs 5.8 seconds to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) on the Cupra 280 equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and 5.7 seconds on the models using the DSG automatic transmission.

The 350 Nm maximum torque of both versions spreads from just 1,750 rpm all the way up to 5,300 rpm, guaranteeing impressive pulling power and overtaking flexibility.

All the models have a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph or 250 km/h. Seat says that the Leon Cupra has a fuel consumption of 6.4 l/100 km (44.1 mpg UK), while the Leon Cupra 280 had a fuel consumption of 6.7 l/100 km or 42.2 mpg UK. The new front-axle differential lock significantly improves the traction and handling of this front-wheel drive car.

The next generation of Seat Leon Cupra may be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an output of up to 261bhp, according to an Autocar report that quoted a Seat engineer. It can then be concluded that the new hot hatch from Seat will be directly competing with the more performance-focused rivals such as the Ford Focus ST, the Vauxhall Astra VXR and the Renault Mégane Renaultsport 265.

In addition, it suggests that the new Cupra will leapfrog other MQB-based alternatives that are still to come such as the new Volkswagen Golf GTI, whether it’s in the standard 217bhp or 'Performance Package' 227bhp version. In order to appeal to more people, Seat will offer the Cupra with both three- and five-door variants.

It’s possible that there will be an estate version, representing an alternative to the Focus ST estate. The new Cupra will get a mechanical limited-slip differential so that it can boost traction. This is the Seat Ibiza Cupra, the latest creation from the Spanish manufacturer owned by the Volkswagen Group. First seen back in April at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition as a concept, the new Ibiza Cupra is ready to hit the market as an extremely compelling day-to-day performance car.

Priced at £18,825 in the UK, the 2013 Seat Ibiza Cupra is powered by a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 180 PS and 250 Nm. Bolted to a seven-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission, the engine can push the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 142 mph or 228 km/h.

The automatic transmission features extremely short shift times and can be operated via paddles mounted behind the steering wheel.

Seat revealed today the Ibiza Cupra Concept, a car that previews the next sporty Ibiza, which promises to combine agile driving fun with a high degree of functionality. According to Seat, the production version of the Ibiza Cupra Concept will arrive by the end of the year and is expected to debut in September, at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

The production version is expected to look just like the concept as this is just a test to see customer’s reaction. The Ibiza Cupra Concept is powered by the 1.4-litre TSI four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 180 hp and 250 Nm of torque and mated to the seven-speed DSG transmission with shift paddles.

Power is transmitted to the front wheels. Moreover, the Ibiza Cupra Concept is fitted with the XDS electronic differential lock, high-performance brakes but also the optional SEAT Portable System that combines navigation and entertainment functions.

Je Design gave the 2011 Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid a tuning that enhances its appearance as well as its power. These are the latest details and images of JE Design’s tuning project on the 2011 VW Touareg. The tuning specialists of JE Design prepared a wide-body kit and upgraded the vehicle’s performance. Priced at €4998, this tuning project gives the German SUV a new radiator grille, new spoilers, wider wheel arches and a rear roof spoiler.

JE Design created the widebody kit to accommodate the Touareg standard version but it also fits designer packages including “Chrome & Style” and “Terrain-Style.” The vehicle is equipped with a new exhaust system with 90 mm dual tailpipes (priced at €599) and custom alloy wheels.
