2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS by JE Design

JE Design has been recognized as one of the most important refiners for the brand Seat. Progressively, the program has been made available for large SUV from the Volkswagen group. Thus, it is only rational that they presently also developed an wide-ranging program for the Porsche Cayenne GTS, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

The styling program of JE Design for the latest Porsche Cayenne versions consist of a front and rear skirt extension made of ABS, a material identified with the primary equipment maker. By fixing it to the original attachment points, the alteration is attained in a swift and safe way. So that not only are the regulations for the protection of pedestrians have been taken into consideration, but also wind drag requirements.

The incorporated LED daylight running lights are available in the JE Design conversion kit for Porsche Cayenne for the first time and guarantees even higher levels of safety. The transformation program for the Porsche Cayenne is finished with elegant side skirts which can be optionally requested with LED lights in the door sill protectors.

BMW CSL badge will replace GTS on some models

BMW has just announced that they will be changing up their nomenclature. Before you start complaining, it’s actually a good thing as it makes things simpler. Frankly, some of the brand’s naming rules don’t make sense. That they gave the 40i name to those with a 3.0 liter engine while the 30i cars are equipped with the smaller 2.0 liter engine makes us shake our heads. With the revisions, the German automaker will finally get rid of the generic GTS from its M cars and will add a more significant CSL instead.

A BMW spokesperson told The Drive last Sunday that the CSL, which actually means Coupe, Sport, Lightweight would replace the GTS on future models. These models are fitting to get a CSL version. In other words, we are likely not going to see CSL versions of BMW’s M-badged crossovers and SUV, says the spokesperson.

Rather, what we will get instead is a range of even hotter M coupes, which makes more sense considering that the C in CSL does stand for Coupe. In the near term, we think that we will see an M4 CSL that is going to replace the current M4 GTS. As for the automaker’s high performance coupes, it will be tougher to predict the future.

Porsche reveals GTS versions of 718 Boxster and Cayman for 2018 model year

It’s not as if the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman are not already impressive cars. The automaker has just given us more reasons to love the twins. The 2018 model year will come with a new GTS variant – for both the 718 Boxster GTS and the 718 Cayman GTS. Both models come with a number of visual and performance upgrades, one of which is additional 15 horsepower - thanks to the new intake plenum and tweaked turbocharged 2.5 liter flat four, now giving it as much as 365 horsepower, that is 35 HP more than the previous GTS models.

Of course, torque also increases to 317 pound feet, from 1,900 up to 5,000 revs. Both models come standard with a six speed manual transmission, but customers could opt for an optional seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.

In just 3.9 seconds, the 2018 GTS models can hit 60 miles per hour from a standstill, before continuing to a top speed of 180 miles per hour. With new features like the Active Suspension System and Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear differential, performance for both models is pushed to their limits. The Sport Chrono package adds a couple of driving modes including Sport, Sport Plus, Launch Control (PDK only), and active driveline mounts.

Special edition Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS is released in honor of British racing legends

Ever since, Porsche has had an impressive history when it comes to endurance racing - having several wins and a lot of memorable finishes. But three of the most important ones for the company were in 1970 with Richard Atwood, 1982 with Derek Bell, and 2015 with Nick Tandy. To celebrate the success of these British drivers, Porsche developed a unique 911 Carrera special edition that fans will definitely drool over.

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Edition is made exclusively to honor the performances of Attwood, Bell and Tandy, as well as the vehicles they used when they took the championship, including the 917, 956 and the 919 Hybrid LMP1. Each of them won at the Le Mans 24 hour race. The 911s were developed at the Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart, and it was Porsche Great Britain that developed the unique 911s for the UK.

Each one of the 911 has their own unique number and livery that represents the driver’s winning Porsche racing car. The livery and cabin both have the Union Jack symbol displayed all over them. What’s new with the 911 are features like the Satin finish black door mirrors, carbon floor mats with Alcantara edging, and Alcantara steering column casing.

We all know of the standard M4 and the more powerful M4 GTS model, but in between those two models is the newest M4 CS. The CS trim comes with 460 horsepower (343 kilowatts), that lets it hit its top speed of 174 miles per hour (280 kilometers per hour). By far, it is the most fun Coupe Sport model in BMW’s lineup.

Frank Van Meel, boss of BMW M, said in his interview with Road & Track that they are planning to revive the CSL or the Coupe Sport Light, badge. Having said that, the CSL will replace the current GTS and will become the range topping model. They will also be replacing the GTS badge with the new CSL badge. The CSL will be made for the track but it will still get a number plate.

The CSL will not just get a new badge but it will also be given sportier elements including sticky cup tires, a coilover suspension, a roll cage, and a fire extinguisher, just in case the driver will be needing one. The CSL will be the range topping model in the M variant, with more power, while the lower CS trim focuses more on comfort. According to Van Meel, the CS will perform like a track car but it has four seats instead of two.

One sleepless night in June 2016, a 79-year-old Granny from Belgium took her Porsche for a ride to try to clear her head. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, except Grandma pushed herself to the limits and drove all the way to 147 mph. Apparently, the incident was caught by Namur Belgium’s speed camera so there’s no denying that it was her driving the sports car in that speed.

Gazet Van Antwerpen, a local news reporter, said that the elderly woman was headed to court earlier this week to face charges for driving well over 236 kilometers per hour. While at the court hearing, the lady admits that she was indeed the one driving the Porsche Boxster GTS last year but she hadn’t realized it was going too fast. Granny thinks it’s “not a problem” if she had to pay the fine of €4,000 (that’s about 4,663 USD after the current exchange rates) as imposed by the Public Prosecutor. Besides the hefty sum of money, she’s also banned from driving for 3 months as a result of over speeding.

The Porsche Boxster GTS is pretty fast, considering it weighs nearly 3,000lbs and has a total output of 330hp. The GTS of course stands for Gran Turismo Sport, which means that its performance capabilities are undoubtedly excellent. With a top speed that can go for up to 173mph and acceleration from zero to 62mph in 4.7 seconds, it is no wonder that granny was able to reach those speeds that fateful evening. These numbers, by the way, are based on the technical specs from Porsche’s official website.

A new BMW commercial from China captures Bruce Lee’s striking words about the power of water. BMW has taken an excerpt from a 1972 interview by Pierre Berton for the advertisement where Lee talks about the water’s significance to flow and crash. The meaningful words he left were beautifully interpreted in a span of 1 minute and 5 seconds.

During the entire 1:05 minute commercial, the iconic martial artist was speaking his mind in the background while the video of the M4 GTS’ new water injection was being played in slow motion. In his exact words, Lee can be quoted as saying “empty your mind…be formless…shapeless …like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. If you put water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. If you put it on a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow on it…or it can crash”. The commercial ended with “be water, my friend” as Lee’s parting words. The idea may be entirely philosophical but it makes perfect sense in the automotive context.

The new water injection system on the BMW M4 GTS was actually derived from Bosch. It works by spraying adequate amount of water into the engine’s intake manifold to improve performance. The liquid evaporates and cools down the chamber letting the turbo run at higher boost. As a result, the 3.0-liter biturbo 6-cylinder engine produces up to 464 hp (368kW) and 442lb-ft (600Nm) of powerful torque. Once the 5.0-liter (1.3gal.) is totally consumed, the engine’s computer redials the power output until such time the tank is refilled. The water should take up to 2,896km (1,800 miles) between refills as estimated by BMW.

Not just one, but five new GTS versions of the Porsche 911 sports car will be coming in March 2017. All of these five new GTS models are powered by a more powerful turbo V6 engine that delivers more output than the powerplant that is installed in the previous GTS sports cars and even in the Porsche 911 Carrera S. Porsche has unveiled all these five new GTS models in the 2017 Detroit Auto Show.

To be unveiled at the 2017 North American International Auto Show (official name of the Detroit Auto Show) are: new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Coupé (rear-wheel drive); Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet (rear-wheel drive); Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé (all-wheel drive); Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet (all-wheel drive); and Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS (all-wheel drive).

All of these new 911 GTS models – including rear-wheel-drive models 911 Carrera GTS Coupé and 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet -- are underpinned by the wide all-wheel-drive chassis measuring 1,852 mm in length.

The SUV game in the auto world has been here for a while. With the demand for SUVs or crossover still growing strong, it was not surprising that carmakers were very quick to jump into the game. However, there were a couple of latecomers, one of which is Italian luxury vehicle maker Maserati.

In January this year, Maserati unveiled its fighter in the SUV segment at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show – the 2017 Maserati Levante. When the Levante SUV started arriving at dealerships around the world in the fall, it made a big splash.

In fact, the Levante was one of the main factors why the carmaker’s sales for year to date jumped by 21 percent. In addition, Maserati posted a 65-percent year-on-year surge in sales for the month of November. The Italian carmaker is also on track to achieve its annual sales target of 40,000 vehicles this year – something that is very far off from the 6,000 units sold in 2013. It seems that Maserati’s strategy to focus on SUVs and saloons was hitting the right sweet spot. After all, the Levante SUV is considered as the last missing piece for Maserati’s aim to sell around 75,000 vehicles in 2018.

BMW has officially ended the production cycle for what is considered as its meanest and fastest sports car – the BMW M4 GTS. Basically a power-up evolution of the BMW M4 coupe, the BMW M4 GTS is one of the premium carmaker’s most track-ready cars, thanks to M technologies applied on its powertrain, chassis and lightweight construction front.

In an announcement in April 2016, BMW said it was launching the BMW M4 GTS limited to 700 units to celebrate the 30th year of the BMW M3. So, many believed that the final number of produced BMW M4 GTS available to customers around the world would be no more than 700 units. However, in the latest development, it turns out that the German company has produced a total of 830 units, and that includes 21 pre-production examples, six press vehicles and 803 customer cars. This information is derived from the actual VINs (vehicle identification number) of the produced BMW M4 GTS.

These 803 examples of the BMW M4 GTS include 278 left-hand drive units for Europe, 120 right-hand drive cars for Europe and 405 examples bound for North America (United States and Canada). The last GTS that came out from BMW’s assembly facilities – on November 29, 2016 -- is a model for North America, wrapped in Black Sapphire exterior color. Originally, BMW had planned for 700 units of the BMW M4 GTS, with 300 cars to the US, 80 examples to Germany and 50 models to Canada. But with the final count tagged at 803 units, the German premium carmaker has sure overshoot its production target for the BMW M4 GTS. This might have something to do with the law of supply and demand.

When BMW first revealed its new 2-Series flagship in October 2015, all eyes focused on the German automaker. The M2 is an indirect successor to the 1-Series M Coupe yet it boasts of the same quality and comes with a powerful BMW N55 3.0-liter turbocharged engine tuned for 365 horsepower. It also comes with either a six-speed manual gearbox, shooting the coupe from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds, or a seven-speed automatic for a faster acceleration time of 4.3 seconds. Although the M2 has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph, owners may opt to raise this to up to 168 mph.

The M2 Coupe began production in late 2015 and was debuted at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Ever since its first introduction to the public, rumors about a hardcore M2 GTS version has been swirling around the internet. The German automaker however is not pressured by all these rumors since interest for the standard version hasn’t waned and producing a limited version (matched with a “reasonable” limited-edition price) isn’t in their list of priorities yet.

However, for fans who just can’t wait to get their hands on an M2 GTS, aftermarket specialists are there to the rescue. Alpha-N Performance for example, has just released an attention-grabbing BMW M2 GTS upgrade package.

For a number of decades, BMW M Division has had a practice of creating special models using the mid-range series of the BMW M. These models were mainly designed to display better performance and have high-level driving dynamics.

The most current example of this tradition is the BMW M4 GTS. With only 700 units manufactured, the M4 GTS has combined fuel consumption at 8.5 1/100 km with combined CO2 emissions coming in at 199 g/km. To make sure that the public is able to see for themselves the outstanding performance qualities exhibited by this elite sports car, the brand chose a rather remarkable way of doing so. Specifically, for the 2016 season, the BMW M4 GTS will be the official DTM safety car.

To earn the privilege of being the lead car of what is considered the most popular international touring car series, the BMW M4 GTS has to meet high demands. As specified under DTM rules, the safety car has to be designed and even adapted to high-performance driving especially on the tracks.

Buyers get added value with the Porsche Boxster GTS as it offers even more power generated by its engines as well as a longer list of standard equipment. It’s the first time for a GTS badge to be attached to an open-top model from the brand.

Porsche Boxster GTS, which was launched in 2014, costs from 71,258 euros (inclusive of VAT). What makes this model a stand-out is a distinct sportiness, which includes the use of prominent lines at the front, clear contours, and air intakes that are very hard to miss due to their size.

It also comes with a set of smoked LED daytime running lights and position lights designed specifically for the GTS. Now offered as standard on this model is a set of Bi-Xenon headlights that operate with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS).

The standard interior uses leather in minimalist black. It is standard for the Boxster and Boxster S to get the three-spoke sports steering wheel.

Two ergonomic switches benefit those who request the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK). If the Sport Chrono Package and PDK options are selected, there would be an extra display on top of the airbag module to indicate if the SPORT, SPORT PLUS and Launch Control functions have been turned on.

Porsche outdid itself once again with the new Macan GTS. Equipped with a more powerful engine than the Macan S and with better brakes, Porsche has given the market another motor racing-inspired vehicle that will definitely be a hit among fans of that genre of motoring.

The car’s power plant, a 3-liter V6 bi-turbo engine, gives it a power output of 360 hp or 265 kW, generating a torque of 500 Nm. Its front and rear axles are managed by the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) technologies, respectively.

The impressive power rating and torque results to a machine with a top speed of 256 km/h and an acceleration that reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in an amazing 5.0 seconds record with the Sport Chrono package added.

BMW M GmbH has done it again with the new M4 GTS. The company has succeeded in creating a new design that takes the M4 Coupe up to a new threshold in its performance. Clearly designed with intentions to conquer the race track, the M4 GTS clocked in an impressive 7.28 minutes lap time on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

This record time shows car enthusiasts exactly what they can expect the M4 GTS to deliver. Surprisingly, the car is safe enough for use on public roads, making it a very versatile addition to the BMW M line. However, not everyone can have a BMW M4 GTS.

This is because the model is a limited edition model launched to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the BMW M3. Thus, only 700 units will be produced by BMW’s plants.

Volkswagen has a new sports car -- the new Scirocco GTS – which is slated to make its world premiere at Auto Shanghai. Boasting a power of 162 kW / 220 PS, its engine is a favourite in the Scirocco lineup since its design is similar to that of the Golf GTI’s engine. It features a turbocharged direct-injection petrol engine that is known as one of the most agile four-cylinder engines throughout the world.

As a result, the Scirocco GTS is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 km/h in only 6.5 seconds, regardless of whether it has a manual gearbox or the 6-speed DSG. Its top speed is at a formidable 246 km/h (DSG: 244 km/h). The Scirocco’s engine is very efficient with an average fuel consumption of 6.1 l/100 km with a manual gearbox and of 6.4 l/100 km with a DSG gearbox.

To those who are unfamiliar with auto history, the Scirocco is a pure bred European sports coupe that holds a timeless appeal due largely to how it had been reinvented many times over. This car was introduced 41 years ago at the Geneva Motor Show.
