Video: Mini JCW Coupe Endurance Racer

To drum up some hype, MINI has entered its 2012 Mini Coupe with the John Cooper Works Endurance kit in the Nurburgring race. MINI wants to make sure that even if you weren’t there, you’d still see how its racer performed. MINI has released several videos that captured what was happening in and out of the car as well as on the track.

Powering this car is a 250hp version of the same forced-induction four-cylinder engine that’s under the hood of the JCW range-topper.

MINI has yet to really go into the tiny details but it has been fitted with numerous safety features, including a roll cage welded to the body, Formula One-style HANS (Head And Neck Support) system, and a sports bucket seat with a six-point safety belt. In terms of active safety, the car has been installed with a braking system that uses Race ABS from MINI Challenge racing.

AC Schnitzer does the Eagle MINI John Cooper Works (R56)

Tuning firm AC Schnitzer has unveiled and conducted tests on the MINI Eagle, a project which it claims to be the fastest MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) ever assembled. It also gets a set of 18 inch Mi2 BiColor wheels covered in 225/35 ZR 18 tires. Of course, the car also gets race-specific features.

On the technical aspect, we see that the vehicle has been given a new turbocharger and intercooler, a new sports clutch and a limited slip differential. It also has a lightweight ion battery and AC Schnitzer's Motronic program.

2011 Geneva Motor Show: MINI John Cooper Works S2000 makes us drool

During the 81st International Geneva Motor Show, MINI introduced the MINI John Cooper Works S2000 – the latest milestone to the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). The S2000 precedes the MINI John Cooper Works WRC, which the MINI WRC Team will delegate to drivers Kris Meeke (BG) and Dani Sordo (ES) for its debut in the premier category of rallying in Rally Italy from May 5, 2011 to May 8, 2011.

More entries are planned in the WRC events in Germany, Finland, Spain, France and Great Britain. In Rally Portugal, private teams will line up with the Super2000 version of the car at the end of March 2011.

To create more excitement, the 2011 regulations of the WRC put private teams in a position to line up with the same cars as the factory team. For example in Portugal, the Brazil World Rally Team will send Brazilian Daniel Oliveira into action in a MINI John Cooper Works S2000.
