Customized Kia Cadenza, Stinger will impress you at 2017 SEMA Show

Car manufacturers have been boasting a lot of interesting cars and concepts at the ongoing 2017 SEMA Show. From BMW’s M5 Performance Parts, Chevrolet’s cool new software update for the Corvette, and Kia’s good-looking trio. Yes, even Kia stepped up their game and made a noise at SEMA, by bringing along two hot Stingers and an all-black Cadenza.

Let us get into more detail about each car beginning with the wide body Stinger. As you can see in the photo, it had been hand crafted by the people at West Coast Customs. And if you know something about car history, you would notice a slight resemblance between the custom Stinger and the GT cars of the 1970s. But despite the same wide body treatment that it got, it still has Kia’s already aggressive design.

The Stinger rides on a set of 21-inch Keen forged wheels paired with high performance tires. It also sits on a lowered suspension (by 1.4 inches up front, and 1.2 inches in the rear), and is finished in layers of pearl blue metallic paint. The body has a lightweight carbon fiber aero kit and a rear diffuser to keep the sedan close to the ground. Inside is a driver-centric cockpit with bright blue leather piping that match the handmade grey leather seats.

IIHS gives awards TOP SAFETY PICK+ to redesigned 2017 Kia Cadenza

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has given its Top Safety Pick+ award to the redesigned version of the 2017 Kia Cadenza. This was a result of excellent a front crash prevention system and good crashworthiness ratings with headlights being considered as acceptable.

In order to achieve the TOP SAFETY PICK+ award, a vehicle should be able to get good rating in all of the five crashworthiness tests. It should also have a front crash prevention system that will get either an advanced rating or superior rating. Finally, the headlights should have a good rating, or at the least an acceptable rating.

This redesigned version is the first Cadenza to have undergone the small overlap front protection conducted by IIHS. What this test does is to duplicate the situation wherein the front corner, on the driver side, crashes against another vehicle or even an object. The results was that the driver space remained to be maintained well with the maximum intrusion of the parking brake pedal measured to be 4 inches.

2016 Kia Cadenza/K7 unveiled

Known as K7, the all-new Kia Cadenza meant for the Korean domestic market has been given an updated exterior styling by Kia Motors as revealed in the first official photos of the new model. The new design is powerful and demonstrates high quality interiors and modern luxury as it will be released for sale in 2016 for the overseas market.

The current model’s progressive and contemporary look has been preserved in the 2016 Cadenza but sharper lines and a well-defined wider stance have given the new version a unique and trendy personality. This new design statement is effective in making the new Cadenza recognizable as a Kia model.

The new Cadenza has a European luxury sedan styling that’s depicted in its long bonnet, swept back roofline and gently rising shoulder line that give the car a long sleek posture.

The 2015 Kia Cadenza sedan has grabbed AutoPacific’s 2015 Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA) in the Large Car category, along with another vehicle. Derived from more than 66,000 surveys completed by new-car owners in the first half of 2015, AutoPacific’s IVA recognizes the vehicle that most closely fulfilled requirements and expectations set by buyers. The survey covers ride and handling, driver’s seat comfort, interior storage, safety features, engine power and acceleration, and technology.

Orth Hedrick, Vice President for Product Planning at Kia Motors America (KMA), remarked that the Cadenza was Kia’s response to customer demand for a vehicle larger and more luxurious than the SXL trims of the Sorento CUV and the Optima midsize sedan. He added that the Cadenza is Kia’s first step into the premium segments, thereby helping continue the transformation of the Kia brand.

He noted that the Cadenza paved the way to Kia’s luxury flagship sedan. Hedrick remarked that AutoPacific’s IVA is important as it represents the voice of the customer, adding that the award confirms that the Cadenza – with its fusion of world-class design, quality and features – has gained the nod of Kia owners. This will be the second time that the Kia Cadenza received an award from AutoPacific this year, the first was a Vehicle Satisfaction Award (VSA).

The Kia Cadenza ranked second on Consumer Reports magazine's list of top large sedans. The Cadenza actually tied in the magazine’s ranking for large sedans with the Toyota Avalon, the former top-ranker in the list. Of the 12 large sedans rated by Consumer Reports, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala came out first.

Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, remarked that the Cadenza banishes any lingering thoughts that Kia is just a manufacturer of cheap, unrefined cars.

Consumer Reports last ranked large sedans in 2007, with the Avalon lording over other competing units. But now, American and South Korean models are topping the publication’s list. General Motors renewed its commitment on quality after suffering from a financial collapse in 2009, allowing it to create new products that satisfy consumers’ appetite for quality offerings.

A complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been introduced by Kia Motors America for the all-new 2014 Cadenza premium sedan. The first five factory-scheduled service appointments are covered by this program. These are applied for 36 months or 37,500 miles. With this program, Kia is increasing its value to new sophistication levels and attempts to differentiate the Cadenza from the rivals.

John Crowe, Kia’s vice president of service and after sale operations, said that the Cadenza is competing in a segment wherein customers expect more. He said that with the complimentary scheduled maintenance program for the Cadenza, customers’ expectations are met. The Cadenza stands out from other models and demonstrates Kia’s plans to launch a convincing contender into the growing space between mainstream and luxury.

The Cadenza is priced from only $35,000 MSRP (excluding destination costs of $800), offering incredible value. Kia’s first full-size sedan already packs a lot of power, technology and refinement but is even more impressive with the complimentary scheduled maintenance program.

Kia’s new top-of-the-range model – the latest version of the Cadenza sedan – will arrive this spring in showrooms as a 2014 model. This model, which is bigger than the Optima, will be arriving in the U.S. after having been offered in other markets first. The Cadenza is based on the Hyundai Azera and shares its sister model’s mechanicals. Its conservatively designed sheetmetal is the creation of Peter Schreyer, Kia’s global design director.

It comes with one engine offering, a 3.3-liter V-6, which offers 293 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. The corporate V-6 has been partnered with a six-speed automatic transmission and drives the front wheels. Similar to the Azera, the Cadenza will be offered in just one trim level. Kia thinks of the Cadenza as its entry in the premium car segment.

Due to this, it is filled with standard equipment like leather, navigation, a backup camera, a power driver’s seat, keyless ignition, and a 550-watt 12-speaker audio system. It is available with two option packages that include features such as an oversize sunroof, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel, nineteen-inch wheels, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and blind-spot warning. Kia hasn’t revealed the pricing yet but it isn’t expected to be priced too distantly from the Hyundai Azera, which has a starting price of $33,145.

Kia has commenced sales of its all-new luxury flagship sedan – the Kia K9 – at its home turf in South Korea. Following the initial launch in South Korea, Kia will start selling the K9 sedan at key overseas markets starting in the fourth quarter of 2012. Featuring a rear-wheel-drive layout, the K9 flagship sits at the top of Kia’s global model range and is considered as a true landmark vehicle for the South Korean company.

In fact, the K9 is the carmaker’s first modern rear-wheel drive vehicle underpinned by its own platform and is a fusion of style, luxury, comfort, engaging driving dynamics and advanced features. When launched, the K9 flagship sedan will bear a different name in overseas market. Its other name will be disclosed sometime before the launch of its sales overseas.

Being a large rear-wheel drive sedan, the flagship features a long wheelbase that gives a magnificent first impression. Because of its RWD layout, the engine is located further back. This allowed for the A-pillar to be pushed back, thereby resulting to a longer hood and an impressive short front overhang.

The Kia K9 will wear the Cadenza badge when it wil be launched in North America. Kia is already using this brand in other markets. A source said that the Cadenza name will be borrowed by the brand’s new flagship luxury sedan. It’s confusing since the Cadenza is a totally different model overseas. In markets such as the Middle East, the Cadenza has the K7 as its basis.

The K7 is a version of the front-drive full-size sedan platform that is also used by the Hyundai Azera. It’s possible that the Amanti name would be brought back if the K7 / Cadenza arrives in North America.

Amanti had once been used for an unsightly and unpopular large sedan. The K9/Cadenza, which is based on the same rear-drive architecture as the Hyundai Genesis and Equus, is positioned in between the two when it comes to size.

Kia will unveil the Kia Cadenza luxury sporty sedan at the 2009 Riyadh Motor Show in Saudi Arabia on December 12. Three days later, Kia will display the new Cadenza at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show on December 15. The Cadenza derived its name from an Italian musical term that is used to describe an elaborate, ornamental display for a concerto or aria. Thus, the name symbolizes the vehicle’s striking design philosophy as well as upscale image.

Measured at 4,965 mm, the Kia Cadenza will be replacing the Kia Opirus (Amanti is some markets). It is expected to transform the South Korean carmaker’s sales performance in the D2 segment.

The Kia Cadenza is the product of efforts by Kia's Chief Design Officer Peter Schreyer and his large sedan design team in South Korea to makeover every aspect of the model -- with an aim to deliver sleek yet sporty styling, dynamic and agile performance, outstanding comfort and high-tech features.

The first car to receive Kia's new direct-injection gasoline engine is likely to be the 2011 Cadenza, the replacement for the Amanti large sedan. The Cadenza was unveiled last week in South Korea but is set to go on sale in North America in 2011.

Spokesman Michael Choo said that after production of the Amanti ends this year, it won't be long before inventories run out, and it's likely that US dealers won't have a large sedan to offer until the Cadenza arrives. Until the Cadenza arrives at dealerships, the mid-sized Optima will serve as Kia's biggest sedan.

Choo explained that the US market isn't ready for the Cadenza yet and that it would have to grow into this model. The four-door, five-seat Cadenza is shorter than the Amanti but it has a longer wheelbase and more interior space.

These are the first pictures of the Kia Cadenza, the unit that replaces the Kia Amanti. Earlier this year, the VG Concept car was unveiled at the Seoul Auto Show. Its production version named the Kia Cadenza doesn't have the Amanti's retro-English styling and instead, makes use of strong character lines and muscular flared fenders to update the car.

The Cadenza features a prominent grille and elegant jewel-like headlights with LED surrounds. A shapely shoulder is created due to the character line starts just above the headlamps, and runs all the way to the car's posterior. Unfortunately, we only got a copy of the front.

We could only guess at how Cadenza's rear and interior look like. For now, we'll just imagine that it would be very similar to the VG concept car and design sketches previously released.
