The 2019 Kia Forte may not be as great as its bigger brother, the Stinger, in term of performance. However, the third generation sedan gets some of the Stinger’s design elements, like the more aggressive lower fascia as well as the new set of sweptback headlights. It looks more coupe-like now because of the flowing roof as well as the shorter rear.
Apart from the new style, the Forte has also been made more efficient. The automaker equips it with the so called Intelligent Variable Transmission, which is the company’s CVT gearbox that was developed in house. It also has a six speed manual as an option. This is paired to a 2.0 liter four cylinder that runs on the Atkinson Cycle, helping it produce as much as 147 horsepower and 132 pound feet of torque.
There are no exact figures for now, but Kia claims that this engine with the CVT can get 35 miles per gallon combined fuel economy, that gives it 3 miles per gallon more than the Forte with a six-speed automatic.Read the entire article 2019 Kia Forte gets Stinger-inspired cues, has combined fuel economy of up to 35 mpg
Over a year ago, Kia gave its Forte lineup a good old update, with little bits of tweaks here and there, and a bigger 2.0 liter engine, plus a new S trim. The new Kia Forte lineup, including a four-door sedan and a five-door hatchback was then showcased at the Detroit Auto Show. The sleeker version of the Forte Koup was said to receive the same treatment later that year, but we never got any update from the company. Now we know why - James Hope, Kia spokesperson said to CarsDirect that the 2016 Forte Koup will not have another successor.
The reason behind this discontinuation is the fact that the company had a difficult time selling the 2016 model, and it is not aligned with customer’ purchasing trends. The Korea-based company has also stopped taking orders for the particular model. But if you’re still thinking of getting a two-door Forte Koup, hurry up and head to showrooms as they still may have a few stocks left at a discounted rate.
The Forte Koup came in two trims: the EX with the 173 horsepower 2.0 liter engine and the SX which came with the bigger 1.6 liter turbocharged engine that generates 201 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 195 pound-feet of torque from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. Both are listed on the company’s website with prices ranging from $19,890 MSRP (for the EX) to $20,690 (for the SX), which do not include the destination and handling fees. But the good thing is that if you’re interested in these models, there is a $2,500 rebate applicable. And to sell out the remaining 2016 models, the dealers may even include an extra discount for you, who knows?Read the entire article Kia announces discontinuation of the Forte Koup
In addition to the new 2017 Forte Sedan, the Forte5 also made an appearance at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Both the Forte and Forte5 have picked up some cues from the 2017MY of the best-selling Optima. The Forte5’s 2017 model year version will now carry a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. No pricing has been announced during the car show yet, but should be available before the end of the first six months of 2016.
The design language found in the new 2016 Optima also makes an appearance in the Forte5, much as they did with the Forte. This includes the “tiger nose” grille, together with revamped visuals for the front headlights.
To complement the headlights, Kia also added newly designed rear lights to the visual theme for the new model of the Forte5. LED daytime running lights and taillights are also standard features in the new Forte5 as well.Read the entire article 2017 Kia Forte5 makes first appearance at 2016 Detroit Auto Show
The new and refreshed version of the bestselling Kia Forte sedan will finally be rolling out to dealerships this fall. Before that, however, journalists and enthusiasts were given a peek at the new sedan during the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
Not only was the 2017 model-year edition of the Forte upgraded with a new powertrain, there have also been subtle updates to the car’s aesthetics and visuals that, while minimal, will be stuff the Forte’s fans will surely love. First, let’s take a look at the new Forte’s upgraded powertrain.
The new 2.0-liter Atkinson inline 4-cylinder engine replaces the old 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder engine found in the 2016 Forte. When buying the Forte, one can choose between a six-speed manual transmission, or a six-speed automatic. The EX trim version of the Forte, however, is equipped with a 2.0-liter GDI powertrain.Read the entire article 2017 Kia Forte sedan presented at the Detroit Auto Show, features upgraded powertrain
Kia will be presenting six handcrafted vehicle concepts at the upcoming 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Each of these customized concepts showcases a certain geographic region in the country, thereby bringing to life different car cultures that helped define America’s love for cars.
One of these is the Forte Koup Mud Bogger, which represents the American South as well as the perplexing joyous feeling of off-road mud- and dirt-hogging. Granting the Forte Koup Mud Bogger the much-wanted ability to tackle any on- or off-road terrain are its 28-inch off-road tires and its four-inch body and suspension lift.
Hugging the Forte Koup Mud Bogger’s huge wheels and tires are modified fenders and side skirts, complemented by custom riveted fender flares. Kia granted this customized Forte Koup Mud Bogger concept with a panoramic roof -- with a vinyl pushback top -- for a better view of the surroundings.Read the entire article Kia presents Forte Koup Mud Bogger Concept at 2015 SEMA Show
While Kia is still officially reviewing which nameplates would be produced at its new facility in Monterrey, Mexico, the Forte could be the first to be built at the new site, Reuters says. Kia is planning to build a range of compact models at site, which will be able to produce 300,000 vehicles annually. The Monterrey site is set to commence production in the first half of 2016.
A North American output would benefit the Forte, which has failed to perform as expected in the compact car segment. Despite a redesign in 2013, the Forte only grew 5 percent in the first seven months of 2014 to 43,517 units in the US, good for a 3.2 percent share of the compact-car segment, according to the Automotive News Data Center.
On the other hand, Kia’s overall sales surged 7 percent in the period. John Fee, general manager of Koons Kia at Woodbridge in Virginia, told Automotive News that the South Korean carmaker has informed him that the new plant will build the Forte.Read the entire article New plant in Mexico may first built Kia Forte

At the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Kia displayed two shapely five-door models but only one will be launched immediately. The 2014 Forte 5-door, which is the model that permits Kia’s new compact Forte to go up against the Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza, Mazda 3, and the mechanically comparable Hyundai Elantra, are available in both four- and five-door forms.
In comparison with the blocky Forte5 it replaces, the new Forte 5-door is a breath of fresh air. It is stylish, swoopy, and similar to other new Kia designs, it appears to be a bit more upscale than it really is. The Base Forte 5-Doors are EX models, which mean that they’re really on-par with the top grade 2014 Forte sedan in terms of equipment. Kia has decided to launch the Forte hatch in Chicago by releasing the sportier Forte SX model.
This car is powered by a new 201-hp, 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4. The SX models get a new nose, with a truncated “tiger nose” grille and a huge, trapezoidal lower grille opening. In addition, it gets a set of distinctive 18-inch wheels and several minor interior and exterior modifications. The carbon fiber accents are everywhere. The pattern is featured on the SX’s rear valance panel, dash and door trim accents, and seat bolsters.Read the entire article Kia debuts the 2014 Forte 5-door at the Chicago Auto Show
As we said yesterday in this post, Kia revealed at the 2012 LA Auto Show the new Forte compact sedan and loaded it with upscale features for the 2014MY. Lower, wider and longer than the outgoing model and riding on a brand new platform, the 2014 Kia Forte will continue to offer two engine choices: a 1.8-liter four-cylinder and a 2.0-liter engine with gasoline direct injection.
The 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine will be offered as standard and will deliver 148 hp and 131 pounds-feet of torque. This engine can be bolted to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox. For those who don’t know, the Hyundai Elantra uses the same engine as the Forte. As an option, Kia will offer a more powerful 2.0-liter engine with gasoline direct injection, which produces 173 hp and 154 pounds-feet of torque. The bigger engine is offered as standard with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Although the fuel economy figures were not released yet, the Forte models using the 1.8-liter engine should match the Hyundai Elantra, which is rated at 28 mpg city/38 highway. The all-new 2014 Kia Forte will be offered in LX and EX trim levels. The LX model is offered as standard with steering wheel mounted audio controls, SiriusXM Satellite Radio1, Bluetooth wireless technology2, power windows, air conditioning and power heated outside mirrors among the many features that make the Forte stand out from its competition. As an option, the Forte is available with the Popular Package, which adds 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, keyless entry with remote trunk release and a sliding front armrest.Read the entire article LA Auto Show: 2014 KIa Forte is loaded with upscale features
The Antenna Hat Trick Kia Forte 5-door, that made its debut today at the 2011 SEMA Show, was designed for the hockey players that carry a lot of bulky gear to and from the rink. As you can see from the photos, the car comes in an ice-metallic grey exterior paint, has a new set of 19-inch blue alloy wheels and features a new custom body kit consisting of a new front bumper with carbon fibre accents and LED “hockey stick” fog lights, a quad-tipped exhaust, carbon fibre roof material and a lowered suspension.
We have to admit that the exterior is not quite surprising, but the interior features a built-in hockey coach’s play board, while the locker room-like rear cargo comes with built-in compartments that house four carbon fibre hockey sticks and two jerseys color matched to the exterior of the car, an ice skate rack as well as glove hooks to dry out sweaty game-used equipment, and custom accent lighting.
Furthermore, the rear bench was converted to to bucket seats with upholstery. The floor in the front and rear seating areas simulates the surface found outside the rink and comes rubberized. In order to continue the theme, a mini air hockey table is mounted in the rear hatch area while a TV is mounted in the front seat headrests wired to a Microsoft X-Box video game console featuring EA Sports NHL12 video game.Read the entire article 2011 SEMA Show: ‘Hat Trick’ Kia Forte 5-door is a car for big hockey players
Kia introduced today at the 2010 SEMA Show the Forte Hybrid Concept, a compact hybrid sedan that promises to be anything but boring. Demonstrating that a hybrid vehicle can also be attractive, the new car was created by Kinetic Motorsports, and carries a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine fueled by liquefied petroleum gas (propane) as well as a new lithium polymer battery with accentuated design characteristics.
Regarding the design, do not expect anything fancy, as the car features new body panel enhancements and a lowered stance, to create a one-of-a-kind personality for the environmentally-friendly sedan.
The design of the Forte Hybrid Concept is accentuated by cast aluminum alloy wheels and low-rolling resistance tires, which helps it to improve fuel economy but also reduce road noise.Read the entire article 2010 SEMA Show: Kia unveils Forte Hybrid Concept

No one's complaining about how Kia's Forte Koup looks. In fact, it already has a striking appearance but Kia just wants to make it look even better and now offers the compact two-door for the Canadian market with the new SX- and EX-R package. The package, which is based on a standard Koupe, visually ties the Koup to the cars Kia entered into the Grand Am series earlier this year.
The four-piece body kit includes a new front lip, side sills, and rear decklid spoiler. The car's stance gives off a menacing impression.
Ride height is lowered with the use of new springs. Its stock wheels are replaced by 18-inch aluminum pieces shod in Yokohama S-drive rubber.Read the entire article 2010 Kia Forte Koup receives ‘R’ performance package
