Refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento appears at LA Auto Show with minor visual tweaks and more tech

In a country where sport utility vehicles and crossover are of high demand, keeping things fresh could spell success. Kia Motors America is aware of this, which is why it has just unveiled the refreshed 2019 Kia Sorento SUV at the 2017 Los Angeles Motor Show. The tweaks made were subtle but smarter, making the vehicle more appealing to customers in the United States.

As early as July this year, Kia already revealed the mid-cycle facelift of the Sorento in South Korea. The European facelift followed in September in Frankfurt, Germany. Now, it is the US refresh that got unwrapped, and this time it was in LA.

Still as rugged, refined and capable as before, the 2019 Kia Sorento comes standard as a three-row SUV with seating for seven passengers and is offered in five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SXL. Kia has tweaked both its exterior and interior, but no major design changes were made. For instance, the new Sorento is provided with new front and rear fascias that lend the SUV with a more sophisticated and mature look. Its more detailed grille is now flanked by new headlights (full LED on SX and SXL), while its newly sculpted bumper now dons redesigned ice cube-style fog lamps that employ projection bulbs for EX and SX trims and LED for the SXL trim.

The 2014 Kia Sorento has arrived at the LA Auto Show showing not only a brand new design but also plenty of new stuff. Expect the new Kia Sorento to be more convenient, more fuel efficient, more environment-friendly, safer and much better to ride – thanks to a number of changes that the South Korean carmaker implemented on the CUV. The new-look Kia Sorento is now underpinned by a new platform and is now powered by enhanced powertrains that feature better fuel economy and lower emissions. It now boasts of additional convenience and safety features as well as better ride and handling.

Since the new Sorento dons a stronger structure and improved specifications, it is only right to match those changes with a fresh exterior look. To achieve that, Kia tasked its design team to restyle both its front and rear, resulting to larger areas of body-color surface. By paying careful attention to surface detailing, designers were able to reduce the Sorento’s aerodynamic drag to Cd 0.34.

Designers also developed these new exterior parts: new front and rear bumpers with vertical-axis fog lights; a new front grille and headlamps with LED positioning lights; and a new tailgate with reshaped LED combination lamps. Buyers could also avail of the optional 10-spoke machine finished 19-inch alloy wheels, depending on the Sorento model they purchased. They could also request a two-part glass panoramic roof with a single powered roller blind shade.
